Brooklyn Deli Clerk's Face Slashed Open For Refusing To Sell Beer For Food Stamps
The face of Yemeni deli clerk Mutahar Murshed Ali was slashed nearly in two for committing that most grievous of offenses: refusing to "sell" a Colt 45 to a drunk 20 year-old in exchange for foodstamps (whose usage Zero Hedge readers know, recently reverted back to all time highs). Of course, Ali was perfectly in his right to refuse to exchange booze for EBT: we reported recently that "New York would prohibit welfare recipients from spending their tax-funded benefits on cigarettes, alcohol, gambling, and strip clubs under a bill passed overwhelmingly by the state Senate." That however appears to not have bothered the assailant, who nearly cut off the deli vendor's face off in retaliation for not getting the "entitled" quid-pro-handout.
From NY Daily News:"His face almost fell off,” said witness Abdul Bin Ock, 17. "His cheek ripped. There was so much blood. Every time he looks in the mirror, he has to see the same scar the rest of his life," Ock added. The suspect fled the blood-spattered bodega on Broadway near Gates Ave. — and is being hunted by cops. Ali, a married father from Yemen, was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he received multiple stitches... The slasher "was drunk, falling and stumbling." Prior to the confrontation, Ali said, he saw the man receive cash from an underage girl outside the store. Ali believes the man was planning to buy the beer for the girl — and make money on the deal by using his food stamp card."
In retrospect: cash in exchange for barter in exchange for handout... Not a bad idea for a nationa increasingly reliant on "assured" entitlements for its survival.
As for Ali: did the cut up foreign father and husband file for immediate disability benefits (for which he is ineligible)? "A shaken-up Ali returned to the store hours later."

Try and focus here....I think the gist of the article is: FOOD STAMPS FOR BOOZE is absurd. The fact that some random, poor minority kid just happened to disfigure the guy for life in an uber-violent act is incidental albeit grotesque (but still somewhat germane). I think there are bigger themes that you may be missing like a general sense of entitlement by generations of people who should now be well on the way to realizing that these "entitlements" are but a fleeting attempt at bringing more people under the government yoke......only to have them yanked when the hammer finally drops. I worked trauma in the 1990s in san diego and was exposed to hundreds of knife fights . Most were random slashings but a few were extraordinarily organized. These were military fights. I remember one was some idiot who tried to carjack a marine using 357 Magnum. The guy was stabbed in the throat,chest and abdomen before he could get off a shot. For all intensive purposes he was dead before he hit the ground. We never saved one person attacked in this manner in the 10 years I was there. Though I can handle a pistol adequately, know in a close fight I don't have a chance against anyone well trained with a knife.

I have taken said tactical knife class. Part of the class consisted of everyone standing in a large circle. Two students were picked at random and given a training knife. The blade was rubbed with lipstick. Then the two students fight.
Guess what everyone and I mean everyone got tagged multiple times. If you ever have some crazy going off near you with a knife, even pulling the knife out to show you are in big trouble. Draw down and get away.

Here in South Carolina I heard another sad food stamp story. At a local grocery store, people had been trying to buy beer with their EBT cards. The cashier continously refused. One day he decided to call the local welfare office. The lady at the office told him if that happened again to do the following: "Put the beer behind the counter. Make the person leave the store. The person will come back inside and ask to withdraw cash from their EBT card. Give them cash and proceed with the beer transaction."
