DOW(N): 521

Tyler Durden's picture

Remember when the Chairsatan announced that the US entered a recession yesterday and nobody noticed, even when Zero Hedge said it would take the market a day for the "sophisticated market players" to figure what just happened. No? We have one word... well, and one number: DOW(N): 521.

And as for Bank of America... the market appears to have great confidence in Moynihan's words... Just great.

Oh yes... gold

The remaining 24.3% are gold's cheerleaders - you know, the ones that keep waiting for the "right time" to buy in.

Speaking of which, our local news had a story about folks "getting into gold" and all they showed was somebody selling their jewelry to a dealer.  Funny how to the MSM "getting into" gold means selling it.  I do not think that word means what they think. . .

Stocks rally after Fed vows super low rates

Inquirer.net - 29 minutes ago

LONDON—A pledge by the US Federal Reserve to keep interest rates super low for the next two years has calmed investors' jitters, sending stock markets around the world higher on Wednesday. The Fed's surprise announcement on Tuesday that it would likely keep its funds rate at near zero...

Hilarious. I wonder if they used the alternate headline for what would have been had Ben's words meant anything.

UPDATE: Looks like they swapped it out... here's the screenshot from a few minutes ago though...

I'm just saying that the market is way oversold, and a huge bounce could come in and take out a lot of late shorts.

Strong chance we run back up to the 200-day and tag it from underneath, by that time the 200-day EMA will have rolled over in a downtrend and that will be the ideal place to load huge on the short side.

I'd be scaling in longs for a trade and closing out shorts right now.

This might be the dumbest NY Times editorial I've ever read:

"Half-Measures from the Fed"

For starters, the Fed could take modest steps, like shifting its portfolio toward bonds with longer maturities, which would help to keep long-term rates low and nudge investors into riskier investments. It could reduce the interest it pays on the banks’ huge reserves or even tax the reserves to try to encourage more lending. It could also resume buying Treasuries or other securities to provide additional monetary stimulus. A more aggressive strategy would be letting inflation rise above the Fed’s comfort level of 2 percent or so to, say, 4 percent. That could help the economy by easing the repayment of debt.

In the absence of stimulative fiscal policy, even assertive moves by the Fed are unlikely to turn the ailing economy around. But they could help, if only the Fed would deploy them.

People don't get it. Inflation is NEVER going to make it into your paycheck unless the ENTIRE world crashes at once and global labor arbitrage is taken out of the equation. Let me repeat that: NEVER making it into your paycheck. EVER.

You will pay more for things you need with the same amount of money or less. I like to call it hyperbiflation. It is the worst possible scenario because there is no debt relief from it and daily staples go through the roof.

If you don't by now know that any gains this makes in the AH session will be met with massive dumptrucking first thing in the morning by people desperate to get the fuck out of this market...then you are even dumber than most of us think you are.

If you want a little glimpse of what CSCO will look like tomorrow...look no further than the BAC chart above.

you said the same exact thing about csco taking off in may after their earnings release, and in feb etc etc... only to see the stock down from $22 to $15.

btw: gentleman jim sinclair sends warm regards from $1790.

You must be on the hook for a lot of shares.   You said the same thing last quarter when they took a $7+ bath in a week.

Not "I will". Not "I'm going to". Not "I already have".

Just "I'd be.."

I noticed. Was painful yesterday, though, since my freshly established shorts went up (i.e. down) 6% immediately. I don't even know if anyone in the mainstream actually listened/read the announcement and saw that banks will make zero profitz in the next two years with huge downside risk due to debt exposure.

I sent the customary text msges checking on London friends, using the tag "How's downtown Mogadishu?" while things were still hot.

When France gets hit by the downgrade (oh, sorry... "if") I think that might be a tipping point - someone, today, actually said to me "You know, I wish XXXX [partner] had bought gold, but its so hard to get hold of". My thoughts "All too late my dear, all too late..". EU media seem to be gearing for full SHTF mode already, esp. on the Dow's fantastic performance today.
