European CDS Update: Rout

UK != England. Just so everyone knows.
And Great Britain... what's that then?
Great Britain is the name of an island which England Scotland and Wales are on. When they were deciding on top level domain names the Northern Irish objected to .gb even though we have used GB on car licence plates for a hundred years. Saying Yoo-Kay 20 years ago sounded weird; it sounds normal now. Seeing GB on cars looks old-fashioned - perhaps we ought to change it.

Yep, to say GB now sounds increasingly antiquated. The full name of the country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (where Great Britain comprises of the three countries of England, Scotland and Wales which have been in royal and political union for centuries - Northern Ireland is considerd a province, not a country, and its status is of course disputed). Never say England when you mean the UK - you will offend a lot of Scots!
What I don't understand is why England, Scotland, Wales play separately the EURO (football), and go together to the Olympics, any reasonable explanation?

tradition? national pride? honestly I have no idea but I know it's one of the reasons why the UK doesn't enter for the football competition in the Olympics - the IOC will only allow international sovereign states to participate (in this case the UK not its constituents) and the "national" FAs refuse to co-operate to enter a combined UK team.
Yep - more votes within UEFA & FIFA with the nations separate.
