The First EURUSD Print Is In...
And it's not pretty. Furthermore, without US vacuum tubes to step in tomorrow and fix what appears set to be a major overnight rout, the next 48 hours could be very interesting indeed.

Comments longer than 3 or 4 paras aren't read.
You mean, by you, retard.
Unlike you some of us can focus and concentrate longer than 29 seconds.
I'm guessing......MTV Generation?
Would that Shakespeare or Sophocles have followed suit, we'd have "Elope Now!" for Romeo and Juliet, and "Damn, even my Daddy would like that MILF!" for Oedipus Rex. We'd also have saved countless trees, and been able to replace all those home libraries with another 78" LED home entertainment center.
There's two paragraphs....whooops! Three.
That's why I haven't bought new gold bullion coins but sovereigns and 20frank gold coins.
1. They are collector coins
2. I bought them from coin stores who had them for years
3. I bought them from different locations.
you guys are sharp at this PM thing, and yes, gold's up again. this isnt looking good.
p.s. S.D. my girlfriend and i like your avitar, but what is it?
We think its actually him...
pretty funny Hulk
Yep. It's actually him, on good days.
Great find. Scary about the fake gold bars from Ft Knox. Not surprising, though. I knew the DSK thing stank to high heaven as soon as I heard about it. Bob Wenzel at EconomicPolicyJournal.com called at fishy as soon as he heard it too. He's done some good follow up on it.
can you post a link to where you got this story ?
The story came from here:
http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index1489.htm
A site that makes even Benjamin Fulford look rational.
Looks like you beat me to it.
Sexy story, cherry picker, but this DSK-Fort Knox story was fully debunked around the time of his arrest. It's a scam.
Looks to me like the usual bullshit from warped imagination of Sorcha Faal.
You got it, if it's from Sorcha Fail it's total bullshit.
Good eye man!
This appears to be the source for that "comment." That the commenter did no link to it is telling.
http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index1489.htm
It appears to be well crafted collections of links which at first seem to support the idea that DSK was about to spill the beans. On a little investigation none of the links I followed actually said anything about DSK blowing the whistle. Evenrthing but the central contention seems to be supported. Even as a libertarian doomer I'm calling wingnut shenanigans.
Why would DSK spill the beans on his brethren at the Church of Financial Criminals ?
First Rule of Internet "Journalism":

good point, but i think that wikileaks cable about china buying gold will make PM's skyrocket in about 1 hr 14 min. well see! i think its time to go shopping for food...
"best looking horse at the glue factory"?
wake me up when it hits parity. zzzzzzzz
Collapsing of the western world debt based currencies. Nothing but more print to infinity, soaking in more fuel, for the white hot vaporization to ashes. Paper money has value. Ha and double ha. bankster gangsters have ameriCON'd thinking what is there's in deposits, bonds, & compounding ZIRP needs to be guarded. Like starving people guarding a sewage plant for sustenance. What a corrupted infected puss pocketed gargantuan terminal financial system ready to flush & ameriCON'd sleeps. lil scamBO speaks and ameriCON'd hasn't a clue where these devils have taken our nation.
Tom O'Brien has been predicting a massive dollar rally for months now. Looks like he might be right.
Makes total sense.
Just look at Japan's 200% debt/GDP, AA- rating, and paltry interest rates and that Yen currency is now the No. 2 ranked best currency behind the Swissie.
The Fed is not printing enough.
They need to launch QE 4 cubed, print money like mad, and you could see a huge rally in dollars and U.S. Bonds.
Indeed, the US needs a weak dollar and to do so they'll print like crazy soon.
And now the Euro is pretty much doomed they'll even need to print more than crazy.
Robo
I don't know if you smoke crack or sniff cracks. The only thing that has kept Japan from collapsing has been their ability to depress the Yen.
Same game China has been copying. Both China and Japan have one thing right; jobs are the answer.
Close the doors on the free access to the American market and see how that changes things. And don't bother telling me we need the cheap shit from China. Somehow the good ol' USA used to make nearly everything we consumed. And we prospered.
Wow, a 0.3% move, impressive. That chart sure does make it look dramatic tho...
danm it, I sold some DRV.
i'm not sure what weird data feed showed such a precipitous decline, but if you look at any legit source displaying actual regular forex hours it gapped down.. 43 pips.
cool sensational post tho
Shouldn't the euro go up if Greece defaults. That would be deflationary.
What's that black line dropping from the sky?
Damn US labor!
I just KNOW they scheduled their holiday tomorrow to destroy the world!
Obama: We have a new spoon ready stimulus program to jump start employment in America. [Applause] In order to pass this new legislation, I ask my bipartisan constituents to review my 5 trillion dollar proposal. [ clap, clap, huh? WTF]
Well, this should help...
"Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, suffered a blow on Sunday as the parties underpinning her national government were on course for big losses in a regional vote in the Baltic Sea state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.Exit polls published by ARD, the broadcaster, shortly after voting closed suggested that Ms Merkel’s conservative Christian Democrats faced their worst ever result in the state, with the Free Democrats likely to be kicked out of parliament."

The IMF just declared the economy death if the US and EU don't start printing like crazy:

an economics blog with a penchant for tabloid style sensationalism and conspiratorial overtones makes good business sense. zh-brawndo, it has what the public craves.

High-pitched breaking sound. Crash.
Is that a light at end of the tunnel or a incoming train approaching?

Euro R.I.P.
Heh. And I closed the last tranche of euros a few weeks ago that I bought a few years ago for around $1.10, I traded the very last tranche for a bunch random silver bullion coins.
Now the only real paper position I still have is a tiny USDJPYLOL position, because I thought that the JPY carry trade had to unwind and when it did, hilarity would ensue.
Gold at $2500/ oz by December 2011. Currencies on life support. Expect silver to make a run at $100/ oz very rapidly
What will China do is the essential question. They have a lot to lose should consumers tank in Euroland and US . Timmey will be on phone over Labor Day weekend talking to China India and Warren in Omaha while Obama reherses for his speech written by Ben Bernanke and his fellow bankers---all his economists already left.
Could be good for the relic...
Wow it moved down a whole cent and a half. Huge news.
The thing is, that pressure was kept on the pair right up until the close on friday, so the gap down tonight means instant weekly lows, an ominous sign. Sets us up for the week...i was hoping for a little bounce and placed a long on friday night in the hope that we would not get a wickless weekly candle, but paid 20 pip spread to close it on saturady as it didnt work out, im glad i closed. The market is changing, bids are being snuffed out, watch out below.
50 pips. The sky is falling. AUD can do this 7 days a week, before breakfast.
Nice graph though.
So, while I certainly appreciate the near term EUR volatility that most expect as this plays out, I think we shouldn't discount the possibility of the EUR ultimately being stronger vs the USD and others after they ditch Greece, et al. Just be careful how short you get.
CW
we don't need
no stinking
QE 3...
This is indeed going to be a good week for bears. It's a good time to have access to European markets, but there are ways to play it in the US as well.

Margin increases are in the bag. Goverment will derail this thing soon enough as they hate what gold stands for. At the first sign of more hikes I'll be trimming as I didn't in the spring when they ass hammered silver. Could have made much, much, more had I bailed when they started putting the screws on at the comex.
actually, i read an article here at ZH - the hourly rate in China is about 50% of non-union federal hourly labor rate the USA has. As such, companies are looking to move to inner China, other countries w/lower wages or even back to the USA if it gets much higher than 50%. Factoring in costs of shipping and the companies might as well bring it back to the USA.
Funny thing - I heard a news story on FNC Business that its not 4 year college degrees that companies need. Michigan and one other state have businesses in manufacturing that are starving for workers in manufacturing but these need apprentices first who turn into journeymen.
For those that are bitching about $50k/year at college and not getting a job, how about saving that money, not going into debt, learning a trade for the rest of your life (or until you need to go to college) and getting a job right out of high school?
Seems like a no brainer to me. Too many B.A. degree students floating around selling hamburgers having $200k in loans but can spout Plato.
Agreed, A university education should be for those who deserve it!! Who ever said everybody should be considered for college? I personally had a few great professors in hard science and humainities...
Sadly though, most were inept and incapable of 'thinking off the syllabus' in any fashion... Most were hacks,
Don't even get me started with Economics profs. They were the most worthless...Preaching their mathematical models like it was Organic chemistry!!!!
Ahhh, that's a pretty little waterfall there. However, I'd be much more impressed if that waterfall went down to about 125.
