The First EURUSD Print Is In...

And it's not pretty. Furthermore, without US vacuum tubes to step in tomorrow and fix what appears set to be a major overnight rout, the next 48 hours could be very interesting indeed.

I'm guessing......MTV Generation?

Would that Shakespeare or Sophocles have followed suit, we'd have "Elope Now!" for Romeo and Juliet, and "Damn, even my Daddy would like that MILF!" for Oedipus Rex.  We'd also have saved countless trees, and been able to replace all those home libraries with another 78" LED home entertainment center.

There's two paragraphs....whooops! Three.

That's why I haven't bought new gold bullion coins  but sovereigns and 20frank gold coins.

1. They are collector coins

2. I bought them from coin stores who had them for years

3. I bought them from different locations.

Great find. Scary about the fake gold bars from Ft Knox. Not surprising, though. I knew the DSK thing stank to high heaven as soon as I heard about it. Bob Wenzel at EconomicPolicyJournal.com called at fishy as soon as he heard it too. He's done some good follow up on it.

This appears to be the source for that "comment."  That the commenter did no link to it is telling.

http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index1489.htm

It appears to be well crafted collections of links which at first seem to support the idea that DSK was about to spill the beans.  On a little investigation none of the links I followed actually said anything about DSK blowing the whistle. Evenrthing but the central contention seems to be supported.  Even as a libertarian doomer I'm calling wingnut shenanigans.

Tom O'Brien has been predicting a massive dollar rally for months now. Looks like he might be right.

Makes total sense.

Just look at Japan's 200% debt/GDP, AA- rating, and paltry interest rates and that Yen currency is now the No. 2 ranked best currency behind the Swissie.

The Fed is not printing enough.

They need to launch QE 4 cubed, print money like mad, and you could see a huge rally in dollars and U.S. Bonds.

I don't know if you smoke crack or sniff cracks. The only thing that has kept Japan from collapsing has been their ability to depress the Yen.

Same game China has been copying.  Both China and Japan have one thing right; jobs are the answer.

Close the doors on the free access to the American market and see how that changes things. And don't bother telling me we need the cheap shit from China.  Somehow the good ol' USA used to make nearly everything we consumed. And we prospered.

Well, this should help...

"Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, suffered a blow on Sunday as the parties underpinning her national government were on course for big losses in a regional vote in the Baltic Sea state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Exit polls published by ARD, the broadcaster, shortly after voting closed suggested that Ms Merkel’s conservative Christian Democrats faced their worst ever result in the state, with the Free Democrats likely to be kicked out of parliament."

Heh. And I closed the last tranche of euros a few weeks ago that I bought a few years ago for around $1.10, I traded the very last tranche for a bunch random silver bullion coins.

Now the only real paper position I still have is a tiny USDJPYLOL position, because I thought that the JPY carry trade had to unwind and when it did, hilarity would ensue.

The thing is, that pressure was kept on the pair right up until the close on friday, so the gap down tonight means instant weekly lows, an ominous sign. Sets us up for the week...i was hoping for a little bounce and placed a long on friday night in the hope that we would not get a wickless weekly candle, but paid 20 pip spread to close it on saturady as it didnt work out, im glad i closed. So, while I certainly appreciate the near term EUR volatility that most expect as this plays out, I think we shouldn't discount the possibility of the EUR ultimately being stronger vs the USD and others after they ditch Greece, et al. Just be careful how short you get.

actually, i read an article here at ZH - the hourly rate in China is about 50% of non-union federal hourly labor rate the USA has. As such, companies are looking to move to inner China, other countries w/lower wages or even back to the USA if it gets much higher than 50%. Factoring in costs of shipping and the companies might as well bring it back to the USA.

Funny thing - I heard a news story on FNC Business that its not 4 year college degrees that companies need. Michigan and one other state have businesses in manufacturing that are starving for workers in manufacturing but these need apprentices first who turn into journeymen.

For those that are bitching about $50k/year at college and not getting a job, how about saving that money, not going into debt, learning a trade for the rest of your life (or until you need to go to college) and getting a job right out of high school?

Seems like a no brainer to me. Too many B.A. degree students floating around selling hamburgers having $200k in loans but can spout Plato.
