For The First Time Ever, Most Americans Don't Believe Their Congressional Rep Deserves Reelection

Tyler Durden's picture

Following years of destroying this country and acting as a spineless proxy only for Wall Street, Congress is facing a historic event: for the first time a majority of Americans are demanding a clean out of the House. The full poll indicating that yet another bloodbath is coming during the next election season can be found here, but here is CNN's commentary. "Only 41 percent of people questioned say the lawmaker in their district in the U.S. House of Representatives deserves to be re-elected - the first time ever in CNN polling that that figure has dropped below 50 percent. Forty-nine percent say their representative doesn't deserve to be re-elected in 2012. And with ten percent unsure, it's the first time that a majority has indicated that they would boot their representative out of office if they had the chance today." Time for a radical overhaul of the utterly criminal and corrupt American political system, preferably replacing it with one that will return democracy back to the system?

More:

"That 41 percent, in the polling world, is an amazing figure. Throughout the past two decades, in good times and bad, Americans have always liked their own member of Congress despite abysmal ratings for Congress in general," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "Now anti-incumbent sentiment is so strong that most Americans are no longer willing to give their own representative the benefit of the doubt.  If that holds up, it could be an early warning of an electorate that is angrier than any time in living memory."

As for all members of Congress, the poll indicates only a quarter of the public says most members of Congress deserve to be re-elected.

A lot of that anger seems directed toward the GOP.  According to the survey, favorable views of the Republican party dropped eight points over the past month, to 33 percent. Fifty-nine percent say they have an unfavorable view of the Republican party, an all-time high dating back to 1992 when the question was first asked.

The poll indicates that views of the Democratic party, by contrast, have remained fairly steady, with 47 percent saying they have a favorable view of the Democrats and an equal amount saying they hold an unfavorable view.

"The Democratic party, which had a favorable rating just a couple of points higher than the GOP in July, now has a 14-point advantage over the Republican party," adds Holland.

Our advice to career politicians: do not be an incumbent in the next few years. The same goes for presidents.

The joke starts at the name!

Congresional "REPRESENTATIVE" is nothing but a spineless proxy for incorporated money to funnel into political influence and future lobbist paychecks.

This foul odor is easily recognized as the best bought and paid for shills and sellouts masking themselves as "the people" that money can buy.  You can see them as they have their mouths stuffed with as many Fraud-500 dicks as possible!

Here are other symptoms:  Failure rewarded, laws bent and re-written to accommodate double-standards based on fiscal merit, absolutely zero prosecution whatsoever, oppression in the name of security, privacy gutted for the same "security," wars fought for security, and who can forget "shared sacrifice" where only the poor and middle classes eat cardboard and put their lives at risk.

Fuck Congress!  Throw the bums Inc. out!

I find it hilarious that the ad banner link at the top of this article redirects to Odumbo's campaign site. Classic!

Most of them support the ponzi, monetarism, or the cut/tax/print asinine idiocy.

If any of them supported Glass-Steagall, going after wall street's frauds, federal reserve, building a better future through real wealth creating projects, so on and so forth, they'd be loved.

Even if it is so obvious what's needed, and so obvious everyone is catching on, very few are doing it.  In fact they're too busy making it worse with more wars, more fraudulent debt, more constituational scuttling with things like the fascist wall street super congress to cut needs to pay off fraud.

At least the sheeple are quivering one eye into opening. It's a start.  May be a little too late though.

Glass-Steagall NOW!

They just gave McSame 6 more years in Arizona. He is back in town having townhall meetings and he is getting ripped a new one at every single one of them.

Buyers remorse?

Ever hear the one about the horse and the barn door?

Americans do nothing until fatal crisis makes solutions impossible.

You see it in their obesity, impulse purchases up and down the economic strata, a taste for using their disposable income only for the superfluous, for amusement, entertainment, and distraction while demanding other people pay for their essentials like health insurance, cell phones, and food.

And I can guarantee that next election cycle their "Disapproval" of their own reps will emphatically NOT translate into voting them out of office.  It's one thing that they disapprove, it's quite another that they actually do something to change it.

In short:  it's merely bullshit to disapprove.

Might as well wag your finger at the TV screen when your rep appears. That'll show 'em.

What happens though if you drill down?

I suspect the majority in a Progressive leaning district think that their representative hasn’t been strong enough at increasing taxes and spending.

From a Tea Party leaning district you get the view that their representative hasn’t been strong enough at decreasing taxes and spending.

In sum each side wants the constituency of the other side to take the pain. How magnanimous of all involved.

Regardless of which side ultimately prevails in the debate they both end in a sociality collapse and default. This is because the central meme of the entire debate doesn’t challenge the source of the problem. The source of the problem is that we have debt based monetary system with a currency supply that is easily manipulated by an international bank cartel with near zero transparency or accountability.

Back to the present debate;

The Progressives want to take us down the road that leads to default via hyperinflationary. Under this scenario the banking cartel buys everything of value using the paper they ‘graciously’ send to us in order to cover our fiscal deficit thereby inflating the currency until it collapses. Under this scenario “we the people’s” savings are made worthless while the cartel owns the hard assets.

Not to be out done, the Tea Party wants to go down the austerity road thereby sucking currency out of the monetary system precipitating a complete break down in commerce, employment and tax revenue until we can no longer even pay the interest on the debt. Default again. Under this scenario “we the people’s” savings are depleted and hard assets are sold for pennies on the dollars to the cartel in order for "we the people" to buy the basic necessities of life.

So this is nexus of the false choice the MSM (owned by the very same banking cartel BTW) has been placed before us.

There is a third path and one that surprise surprise surprise ‘nobody’ in the MSM is talking about.

We could go back to the Constitution (gee how quaint, that old thing?) and start issuing our own debt free money and kick this international banking cartel into the dust bin of history. In fact we already print our own debt free currency every time the US mint makes a coin.

Whether by design or accident, the oscillation between inflationary and deflationary forces acts like a pump removing anything of value from “we the people” into the hands of the kleptocrats currently running the show and defining the debate.

“Give me control of a nation’s money and I care not who makes her laws.” - Mayer Amschel Rothschild

Indeed. It’s high time we take Mayer Amschel Rothschild’s advice and stop this ignorant and false debate among ourselves and start working towards a real solution.

Ideally the currency supply would be directly issued from the UST and controlled via Constitutional amendment. In fact this same system could be used to eliminate ‘all’ taxes by just use modest inflation (money issued ‘above’ that required for real population and growth changes) ‘as’ the tax system. Imagine the reams of tax code, wasted labor, and mis-allocation of capital and back room influnce we would eliminate.

No let’s just fight each other first in Congress and then ultimately in the streets while the bank cartel gets richer at our expense?
