FOMC Statement Market Reaction

Tyler Durden's picture

UPDATE: Stocks leaking back now

TSYs are 5-10bps lower in yield (aside from 30Y), ES (and credit) rallying but underperforming on a beta basis to TSY/EUR, EUR stronger 1.3050 now (USD weaker), and precious metals jumping.

Treasury yields tumble (and curve steepens)

Silver on a tear but gold still underperforming USD weakness for now. Copper not excited for now.

EURUSD back at 1.3050 highs of week

Gold specifically today is ripping...above $1685 now

HYG remains underperformer (leading) as ES jumps to meet credit indices. All pulling back now from reaching unchanged in ES.

Financials are lagging and Utilities leading post FOMC

For a limited time, you can bury money in the backyard at no extra charge right beside the spot the cat uses.  Just make sure you have your I-phone turned off...they DO have remote access you know.

With today's announcement, coupled with an event in euroland (or some other Risk Off event), the US 10-year could fall to yield sub 1.50%

With the resulting carnage in equities, etc. the Fed would have all the political cover it needs to whip out QE3.....setting up an attractive shorting opportunity for the US 10-year, which could rise in yield all the way back up to 2.0 - 2.25%.

Already happening in Germany.  My wife, a German national, literally PAYS a monthly fee for a SAVINGS account and, of course, they nickle and dime the living shit out of her for every fucking transaction.

They pre-approved and sent us a Visa card here in the US and then CHARGED us to decline it and 'cancel' it.

It's coming to a bank near you.  Trust me.

they'll be down hard tomorrow, seen this movie before. this is the counter intuitive trading move to draw in the suckers, who will put in overnight orders for 3X Bulllish Dow funds, only to lose their heads tomorrow.

and there will be plenty of opps to lighten up on the way down, as each and every sell off is followed by the rumor of QE3. (keep your eye on Natgas bitchez, and the TIP, some things don't lie and are therefore the enemy of the Fed) but the SOUA went flat, and the entire political process is in doubt, the two party system, as no one is going to quit and a few more might join the race.

can Goldman buy em all? damned expensive and bound to hurt their bottom line?
