And now for the Friday humor which instead of capital markets... we get enough fun there every time we look at the S&P or read any headline out of Europe... focuses on cultural perspectives. Specifically, those originating in Saudi Arabia. As QMI reports "allowing women to drive in Saudi Arabia would cause rampant sex, porn and homosexuality, according to some of the country's scholars." It gets better: "Academics at the country's highest religious council submitted a report to the legislative assembly warning of the dangers of letting women behind the wheel, reports the Daily Telegraph. If the only country in the world that still bans women from driving were to change its rules, there would be "a surge in prostitution, pornography, homosexuality and divorce." Within 10 years of the ban being lifted, the report claimed, there would be "no more virgins" in the country, according to the paper." One then wonders if Britney learned to drive when she was 17. That said, we urge feminists with a penchant for sports cars to stay out of Saudi Arabia, no matter how much they love extracting the viscous substance out of the oil-rich venues: "Currently, women caught driving in the kingdom may be lashed as punishment."

Joint. Because he made so little money, I took ALL the debt and paid child support. I need to be honest, did not get soaked for alimony, I know men often do.
Funny thing, even with taking all the debt, paying child support, insurance and more, I still stopped going into debt the month we split. I am out of debt and a saver now. He has since (even with me taking the debt) gone bankrupt. Once in a very blue moon I'll slip him money to fix his car and stuff (to me that is taking care of my kid). He does not ask, I just do it. Once in a blue moon he helps me out of jams (I can still count on him in a crisis if it is not financial). It is amicable enough to get our child raised.

I have to make an avowal on this. My generation, some of us at least, was the first to learn what it meant to "go down town" to a woman. UPDATE: Well it pretty much hosed my OS. The only good news is that this system has a ghosted backup drive which is apparently unaffected. For whatever reason the diabolical fucks who wrote this virus did not see fit to spread it to backup drives in the same computer. So I just repaired the ghosted drive so it was bootable in Win 7 64 bit and then I format the original drive and will ghost this backup back to it. Still not how I wanted to spend my friday night (although thank god it did not happen during market hours.)

These conservative fundie societies like order, or at least the idea of the perfect order. Their idea of 'Heaven' is a state of a perfect orderliness of mind and behaviour - "perfection" - and to attain it, personally, they collectively feel as a society they need a perfect order and aspiration for a perfect order, here, and now.
Or else they won't ever attain it, unless they all create a society in which it can occur, which requires the mental and physical torture suppression of sexuality being repressed and denied. The ultimate in delayed gratification.
I don't think we should doubt or discount their deep desire to generate this perfection and goodness in humanity, if we're interested in understanding them. If something does not make cultural 'sense' to us, then there's a better than even chance it has a rational basis, we simply don't grasp what it is yet.

Yesterday an Asian man driving an Infinity aggressively cut me off for no reason (no signal, breaking the law) and almost caused an accident. Turns out both of us were dropping our sons at school. I got there, dropped my son, and left, before he finished pulling up. He got nothing time wise out of cutting me off.
Should I generalize to all Asian men because this happened to me?
