“As we know from the intelligence gathered from the OBL raid, AQ has shown an interest in important dates and anniversaries, such as 9/11. In this instance, it’s accurate that there is specific, credible but unconfirmed threat information. As we always do before important dates like the anniversary of 9/11, we will undoubtedly get more reporting in the coming days. Sometimes this reporting is credible and warrants intense focus, other times it lacks credibility and is highly unlikely to be reflective of real plots underway. Regardless, we take all threat reporting seriously, and we have taken, and will continue to take all steps necessary to mitigate any threats that arise. We continue to ask the American people to remain vigilant as we head into the weekend.”

True story, I was in an ACE hardware picking up some stuff. Grabbed some duct tape, which is always in high demand at the house and went to the checkout. Saw a couple of people ahead of me with duct tape and plastic. They were NOT hardware store people. Older ladies, well dressed and looking uncomfortable.
One looks at me and says "you are buying it too." I gave her a puzzled look and shrugged. Only later did I figure out about the whole "safe room" garbage that came out.

Once one comes to the conclusion that WTC-7 (and probably the others) were dropped by explosives, it's really hard to take this whole DHS thing with other than complete derision.

Well they'd better try something a bit more credible than the usual 'terrorist threat' - most of which are made possible only by some FBI agent serving as a source for the guns, explosives, whatever...... Even the official 9/11 story shows an astounding level of incompetence - only slightly less on the 'terrorist' side than on the part of our FBI and other counter-terror types. Frankly the conspiracy theorists claiming these guys were part of a false flag op may have a point only because that effort succeeded at all. And OUR cosrt per terrorist 'kill' is absurd when you calculate out the cost of drones, predatopr missles, smart bombs dropped from stealth aircraft, etc. Hell, if you took 1/10 of what we spent on these wars and GAVE IT away to Muslims in the Middle East yo'd buy friends for eternity. Meanwhile we irradiate AMERICANS wiht scanners COngress VOTED AGAINST, grope grandmas and little kids and have soldiers woth submachine guns now seen in US cities - along woith the repeal of posse comitatus and warrantless wiretapping on EVERYBODY.

We're shooting gallery targets in Afghanistan (as he wanted, on the jihadists home turf - the graveyard of Empires). Bush gave him a bonus with Iraq - takiong out a SECULAR leader (whom we'd used as a balance to Iran) and enraging the rest of the Islamic world in a naked grab for oil (and we didn't even get the oil). The US is bankrupt - in part due to the costs of these endeavors (but more so due to our own incompetence and corruption).
Our own 'leaders' have done more damage to this nation - and revoked more of our rights an liberties - than ANY foreign threat ever could have done. James Madison - "When tyranny comes to these shores it will be in the guise of protecting us from a foreign threat." NO group of 'terrorists - not even a nation like the former Soviet Union ' has the power to overthrow our Republic. But our political leaders have gone a long way in undoing it. We are the 21st century's Rome - we've left the Republic behind. Our Empire is killing us. We have mercenaries fighting our wars (look at all the south american and african special ops types working for Blackwater - Xe - and others). The populace are diverted with bread and circuses - oblivious to their debased money that buyas less and less.
When Rome fell, the West entered the Dark Ages - a few centuries of feudal anarchy with most people selling their freedom for a mouthful of food and the hope of some protection from the lawless world surrounding them.
