G-Pap To Begin Formation Of New Government Tomorrow
Update: Greek Parliament Begins Voting on Papandreou Confidence Motion
The latest out of the Greek parliament, where G-Pap is proving he is not a man of few words, is that he will commence with the formation of a new government tomorrow, and in which he hopes to have a leadership position.
- PAPANDREOU TO BEGIN TALKS TOMORROW WITH PARTIES ON GOVERNMENT
- PAPANDREOU SAYS NEEDS TO AGREE TARGETS, TIMETABLE FOR ACTIONS
- PAPANDREOU TO DICSUSS POSTS, PEOPLE, EVEN HEAD OF NEW GOVT
- PAPANDREOU TO PROCEED WITH NATIONAL UNITY GOVERNMENT
- GREEK NEW GOVERNMENT MUST PURSUE OCT. 26 PACT, PAPANDREOU SAYS
- PAPANDREOU SAYS NEEDS TO AGREE TARGETS, TIMETABLE FOR ACTIONS
- PAPANDREOU WILL SEE PRESIDENT TOMORROW
And more such can kicking. In essence the prime minister, whose family has ruled Greece for generations will do anything to pass the vote of confidence, and then will most certainly usurp power once again, saying that it is for the country's stability that he be in charge at least until the 7th bailout tranche is paid, then 8th, then 9th, and so forth.

G-Pap has a bad ass suit.
He is both Phrygian Gordium and Alexander in one tying his own knots.
Time for another volume-less rally on Monday?
I'm geting sick and tired of hearing about Greece. They have a population of about 11 million, the same as NYC and its suburbs. Big fuckin deal. Their GDP is $300 Billion. Apple's revenue is $100 Billion per year. Pretty soon Apple could buy the joint. It's a two bit nothing country (economically speaking). All these politicians around the world should stop grovelling. Same for the idiot bankers. Hey Greece: Figure out what you want to pay on your bonds already or pay nothing and just shove 'em up your ass and get the fuk out of the eurozone! This is ridiculous. I don't believe Greece can cause all this turmoil. More drama going on there than watching Glee.
If you think this is simply about Greece, then you have shown yourself to be an idiot. Better to remain quiet than to remove all doubt.
Ditto if you are annoyed by the public "grovelling" of the politicians, because what they do in public is not grovelling, but lying and dissembling. The politicians only grovel in private, mainly when people like Timmy G., Ben B., Hank P. and their ilk come calling.
Better to lurk more and try to understand more. Probably a lot more ...
This is not a defense of G. Pap. I'd have been content to see him go the way of Ghadaffi - right up until he called for a referendum, which is the only honorable way out for everyone. How 'bout a drop of venom for Venizelos, his Defense Minister turned "Economic" Minister, who did his best to stop any referendum. Venizelos knows that exiting the Euro means his navy wouldn't get those expensive new ships.
How 'bout a supertanker full of venom for the Eurocrats, for reasons we all know too well ?
The Greeks, all the Europeans, and people in the US, all deserve better that we are getting, so we have to change the game.
greece is counrtywide....the start of the dominos falling.
itlay can be bear stearns....
then comes the lehman event
One thing I haven't seen mentioned and wonder about is, what do the Greek people think about being told they are going to have a say in their future and a day later being told to bend over again?
Armani??
Seville Road.
armanopoulos
This confidence vote and the "promise" to resign if he wins it is a game nothing more. By him doing this and possibly getting the confidence vote, then he can go back and say well you have confidence in me I should have some leadership position in the new govt.. He is a piece of crap.
Fuck you Greek losers!
Would it not be simpler to list what he did NOT say? You know, brevity and all that shit.
It would be fitting if Sausage the Riot Dog nipped the guy on the leg after he pulled the referendum vote from the citizens of Greece...
Can G-pap disclose his SPX position? long short?
thanks G-pap!
Turning to an aide after the vote, he was heard to say, "They are not going to Khadafi me"
For the love of Apollo, just resign already.
so do i close all my shorts monday. nothing seems to push this market down with conviction. all it takes is a recycled rumor from some guys uncle to send us into rally mode.
so is this new gov't going to 'honor' the debt or they gonna finally come to terms with their inability to repay?
The Great Chairsatan is not going to go down without a fight, and he apparently thinks he can print all the ammo he thinks he needs. The Chairsatan Put is alive for the time being.
I heard they are looking for an offer of 100% haircut on debt and 100 billion in new credit for improving the infrastructure.
The new government will be one that makes the markets "happy" by avoiding a popular referendum and agreeing to the 50% haircut which banks can't afford, and then taking on more debt from a grossly undercapitalized European fund, which uses leveraged special investment vehicles that would make Enron blush, all to buy us maybe two or three more months before we do it all again.
Doesn´t this kinda mean outright fascism has returned? Unity government, scew elections?
I thought there was to be a vote at midnight Greek time, or something??
That would be the one that creates the need for a 'new' government.
The EU, Sarkozy, Merkel and the bankers are in control
Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss
I've never seen a better example of polishing the brass on the Titanic.
I think this is the part where we reference the psychological analysis of politicians as sociopaths.
still did not get it..... did he got the aproval vote?
The vote is PPV.
he has a plan to start talking about a plan tomorrow
more speeches ahead
I think he will be on a small plane going somewhere by tomorrow...
BTW - I still don't get the whole "I'll step aside if I win the confidence vote" concept. Does Greece exist in some alternate dimension, where logic is reversed or something??
Simple. Win the vote, form a new Goobermint with G-Pap back in charge.
Lose the vote, form a new Goobermint with G-Pap back in charge.
Get it?
It's like the S&P....
I'm feeling a little democratically challenged at the moment. Can someone help me out with this? What I am getting from what's going on here, is that the Greek government is telling the Greek people to fuck off. The government is telling the people they have no say in a Euro Pact, and that they also have no say in how government wants to reform itself based on its own vote? Am I missing something here? Did the Greek government just perform a coup by government vote? WTF?
I'm sure the Greek people are wondering why they just can't vote in a community leader to head their government like any real super power would do.
Papa the Greek will perform the sirtaki dance.
It's getting traditional.
Opa!
BBC PapTweet; "Greek PM says snap elections would be catastrophic for the country and jeopardize the bailout deal"
G. Pap. (Plutocrat/Athenae) I was wrong. He just demanded to be Khadafi'd.
I was phising for travel deals to Athens. No luck.
Good God will this guy just resign already. Maybe they need him around for a few needed rumors...hmmmm....must be a reason.
when you belong to the Oligarchy you have to drink your cup to the dregs like the debt slave you be, all signs of pseudo revolt, reality show for the people, a cynical, impossible flash in the pan of false mirrors. Owned, lock, stock and barrel. Sold down the river to kingdom come. Goodbye people you are now in the surgical ward of global austerity. One kidney at a time. "I did it my way"...is a song you'll never sing for a long time coming, until the next spring of renewed dawning, long after the fall.
Now let the sick sterile show of debt creek and brokeback mountain reel on, in rodeo en-diablo.
Your writings have a strange, poetic quality.
He can offer something to his country... yeah, bailouts.
this is so south american coup recipe. c'mon greeks you are getting played double time.
Well said. It's like drama class.
Well, didn't G-Pap shit-can the military leaders not too long ago? Guess some folks still know how to keep the plebes in place.
new government just like that? Uh, do the people get to have a say AT ALL? No of course not, or even if they did they would have to keep voting until they gave the right answer
of course people can have their own opinion, remember G-pap can always learn from US--
deal the "National Security" card!
this whole thing is beyond fubar
It's gone plaid, straight through to BOHICA!
2236:
The much-awaited confidence vote has formally started now, with the registration of Greek MPs.
Cameron is such a scumbag.
The IMF is crap. They take over your economy and you lose sovergnity if you take one dollar from them.
Cameron, DIAF.
Raise the goddamn margins on Italian debt already. Blow up french banks!
When I hear "bailout tranche", all I can think is Mo' Money!
Conservative opposition leader Antonis Samaras rejects Mr Papandreou's call for a coalition government, saying "the only solution is elections", a spokesman for Mr Samaras' New Democracy party is quoted as saying by Reuters.
BREAKING : WON THE VOTE OF CONFIDENCE. FUK.
GPap is so retarded he said that if there were elections it would destroy Greece's RECOVERY! Mwahahahahaha
If I was Greek I would now be buying petrol, bottles and rags, and a trusty Zippo
horseshit. It doesn't change the facts. They can't and won't pay what they owe.
Next !
This guy is a traders best friend !!!
Long live G-Pap !!!
Son say to his father " I'm thinking of pursuing a career in organized crime" and his father says " government or private sector"
