G-Pap To Begin Formation Of New Government Tomorrow

Tyler Durden's picture

Update: Greek Parliament Begins Voting on Papandreou Confidence Motion

The latest out of the Greek parliament, where G-Pap is proving he is not a man of few words, is that he will commence with the formation of a new government tomorrow, and in which he hopes to have a leadership position.

  • PAPANDREOU TO BEGIN TALKS TOMORROW WITH PARTIES ON GOVERNMENT
  • PAPANDREOU SAYS NEEDS TO AGREE TARGETS, TIMETABLE FOR ACTIONS
  • PAPANDREOU TO DICSUSS POSTS, PEOPLE, EVEN HEAD OF NEW GOVT
  • PAPANDREOU TO PROCEED WITH NATIONAL UNITY GOVERNMENT
  • GREEK NEW GOVERNMENT MUST PURSUE OCT. 26 PACT, PAPANDREOU SAYS
  • PAPANDREOU SAYS NEEDS TO AGREE TARGETS, TIMETABLE FOR ACTIONS
  • PAPANDREOU WILL SEE PRESIDENT TOMORROW

And more such can kicking. In essence the prime minister, whose family has ruled Greece for generations will do anything to pass the vote of confidence, and then will most certainly usurp power once again, saying that it is for the country's stability that he be in charge at least until the 7th bailout tranche is paid, then 8th, then 9th, and so forth.

I'm geting sick and tired of hearing about Greece. They have a population of about 11 million, the same as NYC and its suburbs. Big fuckin deal. Their GDP is $300 Billion. Apple's revenue is $100 Billion per year. Pretty soon Apple could buy the joint. It's a two bit nothing country (economically speaking). All these politicians around the world should stop grovelling. Same for the idiot bankers. Hey Greece: Figure out what you want to pay on your bonds already or pay nothing and just shove 'em up your ass and get the fuk out of the eurozone! This is ridiculous. I don't believe Greece can cause all this turmoil. More drama going on there than watching Glee.

If you think this is simply about Greece, then you have shown yourself to be an idiot.  Better to remain quiet than to remove all doubt.

Ditto if you are annoyed by the public "grovelling" of the politicians, because what they do in public is not grovelling, but lying and dissembling.  The politicians only grovel in private, mainly when people like Timmy G., Ben B., Hank P. and their ilk come calling.

Better to lurk more and try to understand more. Probably a lot more ...

This is not a defense of G. Pap.  I'd have been content to see him go the way of Ghadaffi - right up until he called for a referendum, which is the only honorable way out for everyone.  How 'bout a drop of venom for Venizelos, his Defense Minister turned "Economic" Minister, who did his best to stop any referendum.  Venizelos knows that exiting the Euro means his navy wouldn't get those expensive new ships.

How 'bout a supertanker full of venom for the Eurocrats, for reasons we all know too well ?

The Greeks, all the Europeans, and people in the US, all deserve better that we are getting, so we have to change the game.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned and wonder about is, what do the Greek people think about being told they are going to have a say in their future and a day later being told to bend over again?

This confidence vote and the "promise" to resign if he wins it is a game nothing more.  By him doing this and possibly getting the confidence vote, then he can go back and say well you have confidence in me I should have some leadership position in the new govt..  He is a piece of crap.

so is this new gov't going to 'honor' the debt or they gonna finally come to terms with their inability to repay?

The new government will be one that makes the markets "happy" by avoiding a popular referendum and agreeing to the 50% haircut which banks can't afford, and then taking on more debt from a grossly undercapitalized European fund, which uses leveraged special investment vehicles that would make Enron blush, all to buy us maybe two or three more months before we do it all again.

I'm feeling a little democratically challenged at the moment. Can someone help me out with this? What I am getting from what's going on here, is that the Greek government is telling the Greek people to fuck off. The government is telling the people they have no say in a Euro Pact, and that they also have no say in how government wants to reform itself based on its own vote? Am I missing something here? Did the Greek government just perform a coup by government vote? WTF?

when you belong to the Oligarchy you have to drink your cup to the dregs like the debt slave you be, all signs of pseudo revolt, reality show for the people, a cynical, impossible flash in the pan of false mirrors. Owned, lock, stock and barrel. Sold down the river to kingdom come. Goodbye people you are now in the surgical ward of global austerity. One kidney at a time. "I did it my way"...is a song you'll never sing for a long time coming, until the next spring of renewed dawning, long after the fall.

Now let the sick sterile show of debt creek and brokeback mountain reel on, in rodeo en-diablo.
