Guys, I NEED your opinion on something, fast. I've just got two job offers, both at BBs (Bulge Brackets), and I need to make a decision by tomorrow. The first is for clearing at Goldman Sachs and the second is for broker analyst at Credit Suisse. This is the hardest decision I've ever had to make. These are both TOP roles at awesome IB's. In your honest opinion, which role do you guys think is more prestigious?

As I've posted previously - Starting with a domino 5mm tall and increasing the size of each successive domino by 150%, the 29th domino is large enough to toppel the Empire State Building.

Not that it will take 29 to toppel our charade of a global financial system!

First you start with the position of suckering in your closest family and friends to buy into stocks you are about to dump.  After that you can go straight to their prop trading desk with the proceeds.  Following position is to sucker in pension fund from the local community you have connections with.  Hopefully you can be promoted to a position where you start stabbing old people in the street with immunity.  Seaside villa here you come.

The sky is the limit at The Goldman Sachs. If you work long and hard, no matter where you start, you can make it to the top. You must not give up early and settle for a lesser position like Central Bank Chairman or Governor of a State. Too many people wash out because they don't have what it takes to make it to the top and earn the $100 million bonus golden parachute of victory. But I know you have what it takes if you just believe in yourself as much as I believe in you.

Obviously prestige is most important and more important than merit and math. Merit and math rely too much on your own individual self. That would be very selfish of you. Prestige, on the other hand, is about joining the bandwagon and that which the collective has already decided for you. It is the easy choice. You, as an individual, do not need to decide. We, as the collective mind whatever that may be, will have decided for you. Become selfless, rid yourself of the "I" and join the "we."

Notice how the biggest domino was the last to fall? It is the largest collective and in a way the most prestigious. The small dominoes fall first. The individual gets it first before the collective. Go big and find the biggest, baddest gang around. Goldman it is.

The Charade

The great populist from Texas, Rep. Wright Patman **, was instrumental in pressuring President Roosevelt (FDR) to create the last study on the concentration of economic power in America, the TNEC study; the Temporary National Economic Committee study.

This committee study lasted from 1937 to 1939, and while invaluable data was uncovered, major portions of that study are still classified to this very day!

Years later, Rep. Patman would again be the motivating force on another study, Tax Exempt Foundations and Charitable Trusts: Their Impact on Our Economy (December 1962) 87th Congress, 2nd Session; exposing how the super-rich hid their wealth and ownership through foundations and trusts.

The super-rich and their cartels and multinationals have been so successful that today few Americans are even aware of the importance of knowing the ownership of any corporation or bank, and are routinely ignorant of the extraordinary concentration of power today!

Who owns ExxonMobil, BP, JP Morgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Citigroup, GE or AT&T?

Who owns the majority of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies today?

Nobody knows, and fewer appear to care!

Sadly, the way the situation has been rigged and manipulated, it would be impossible to find out unless one possessed unlimited resources, since much of that wealth and ownership is hidden within trusts, and multi-layered trusts of all types, and those trusts reside, technically speaking, offshore.

Those offshore trusts aren’t even required to be officially registered at those offshore sites --- there isn’t even a way to deduce how many trusts exist!

(Please understand that when Forbes publishes their list of the global richest, they include a disclaimer that it was compiled from public sources --- yet most data on the super-rich can only be gleaned from private sources --- and when there’s no discernible way to track such private sources, an accurate list on just who are the super-rich is impossible to compile!)

There is one interesting item, after many years of research, we have been able to ascertain.

That item concerns the oldest corporation, and continuously existing corporation, in the Western Hemisphere, the City of London Corporation.

While it is interesting to note that this ancient corporation appears to also own the oldest continuing financial fund, their City Cash, the really salient point is that it appears to be the nexus, or central point, of either the meeting or congregation place of various of the world’s major cartels.

Of course, this is much too obvious, to mundane and banal for most unaware, blithely ignorant people to take notice of, so please continue with your self-involved, self-absorbed and infantilized consumer existence  --- after all, this is what they demand you do.

**Rep. Wright Patman was crucial to the passage of legislation finally awarding the promised bonuses to the World War I veterans.  An excellent account of this is to be found in Marc Levinson’s book, The Great A&P and the Struggle for Small Business in America, pp. 152-153.

(I don’t agree with the author’s final conclusions, but his chapter on Wright Patman is highly recommended.)

Rep. Patman, at his own expense and financial loss, self-published two books in 1934:

Patman’s Appeal to Pay Veterans

   and

Bankerteering, Bonuseering, Melloneering

True classics in politicking for the people against the ruling 1%!

Congrats: Your CV must be peppered to the margins in the disciplines of grand larceny, criminal fraud, welfare fraud, counterfeiting or extortion. (heard a tinge of bestial indulgence is the "closer" at those shops).

Have you ever taken the 5th? Does either position require you to wear a kevlar helmit and vest? Does either have "Little Beau Peep Outfit" Fridays? Is the Cocaine free in the employee lounge, or, do you have to bring your own? Does either position require you to sign a "wet term-life" policy making the employer the sole beneficiary of more coverage than the combined coverage of your home town? Stocks or options? Protection from criminal, civil or pitch fork actions?

If the answer is yes for both employers for all the above issues - go to the one where they guy that interviewed wore the more dazzling pair of white patent leather shoes - not the plastic imitations - but the real thing and /or, alternatively, the one shop of the interviewer that had the more awesome business card.

Dress British, think Yiddish, and you won't go wrong long.

Coin shops generally have the lowest over spot price, have no paper trail, accept cash, and no need for packages to be mailed.  I love my coin shop.  Too bad my coins keep falling out of my damned canoe.

Yep, my local coin shop only deals in cash. I feel like a smooth operator when I walk out of there with a pocketful of metal.

Used to agree, but my local coin shop was asking 1760$ / oz for physical gold last week-end (almost 10% markup). Or is it that physical is getting sparse?....

My local coin shop in Ohio charges 6.75% sales tax or I would buy from them.  I refuse to pay tax on my metal purchases.  The coin shop guy says we can thank Tom Noe (google him) for that.  WTF is up with that?

Might try coin shops in states that do not have sales taxen on PMs. You might have to have it shipped, but all the other advantages still hold.
Try coin shops in AZ and NV, would be my advice. :-)

I lost mine in a 110-mph windstorm last year. True story.  It took a whole lot of chainsawin' to regain access to them.  As luck would have it, whilst moving them to a new, secure location, they fell out the canoe.

Coin shops generally have the lowest over spot price

Sometimes they beat spot. Like any other merchant bent on closing, the diff between SOGS and COGS migh matter more than the market print.

Our dealer sees one client at a time - two doors - one a cage - the other the sales "office" - once in they get locked - and business is cash only - and though there is no overt sign youz got to know the dealer is packing - can't recall getting change back - no receipts - a mutually agreed  conversion - at first it seemed  strange  but after a few transactions it all make sense.

An arm chair assay shows the weight at more the 28 grams, about 36, and that the quality is as advertised to two decimal places.

Remember one time being in the "cage" with another buyer who was interested in gold maple leafs or gold eagles. still wondering why someone would pay collector prices for marquis bullion grade coins when less glamorous coins, or bars or slugs of same or better grade are a bunches cheaper. "A Bullion by any other name' - or "A bullion is a bullion is a bullion", either way, the intent of holding the precious, just saying, is for those "hoped-to-be-avoided-hard-times" when it probably won't matter what is stamped on the shiny, and hobbies, like coin collecting, are middle earth fairy tales from a time long passed that our future begets sings to coax tykes to sleep.

I personally use APEX. Their selection of products is outstanding. One can buy small amounts of gold or silver (as small as one tenth of an ounce). There is a minimum order of $50. I have never had any problems and have received my items promptly through the USPS which can be tracked. But I find that USPS doesn't do a very good job of estimating its delivery. Usually a delivery is either one day early, one day late or right on time. I'm comparing USPS to a private company like FedEx which has been spot on almost every time as well as UPS.

But over all, I like APEX, but I only buy highly recognized coins such as American Eagles or Maple Leafs. I have bought a few designer and collectors coins for my own amusement but the mark up is much higher as opposed to just a little over spot for Eagles and Leafs.

You want gold?

Go on the curve with a "CASH 4 GOLD" sign.
You'll be able tu buy gold at around 40% of spot price.

Or....buy old computer processors, that way you get gold at around 10% spot (YMMV).

true dat

obviously at local coin shops, junk is the lowest premium over spot to pay (but then again, yard sales & coin shows can be had for the coupon clippers)... From my perspective, the coin dealer is happy to have a client who will take rollover junk off his hands...

It's nice to have a coin shop owner who likes you...

I would check with your local jewelry stores and find out who they sell their scrap to. That's the guy you want to talk to because he's also getting bullion.

Tulving....but Hannes can be a bit weird sometimes - and very short on the phone. Tulving does have some great prices, but you also must by 20 oz of gold at once or 500 oz of silver. I picked up some gold pandas for $38.00 over spot at Tulving.. He is selling Maple Leaves - 1 oz gold for $19.00 over spot right now...and 1oz Australian Kangaroos for $28.00 over spot. If you got the money to lay odwn $30,000.00 at once....he's your man - by far. - most people are not going to buy in that qty though. Try GAINESVILLE COINS. for smaller purchases...THEY ARE PRETTY GOOD TOO.

I did not know until today that Ayn Rand bitchslapped Libertarians.

I find that intensely funny and deeply sad for all the Libertarians using Rand to justify their political affiliation.

Then again recently I learned most Libertarians here really no nothing about the politics they have glomed on.

Basically they are just greedy fucks who think they deserve much more than they truly do.

Read it and weep girls.

Or for those like me read it and chuckle deeply and satisfyingly.

http://aynrandlexicon.com/lexicon/libertarians.html

For the record, I shall repeat what I have said many times before: I do not join or endorse any political group or movement. More specifically, I disapprove of, disagree with, and have no connection with, the latest aberration of some conservatives, the so-called “hippies of the right,” who attempt to snare the younger or more careless ones of my readers by claiming simultanteously to be followers of my philosophy and advocates of anarchism. Anyone offering such a combination confesses his inability to understand either. Anarchism is the most irrational, anti-intellectual notion ever spun by the concrete-bound, context-dropping, whim-worshiping fringe of the collectivist movement, where it properly belongs.

“Brief Summary,”
The Objectivist, Sept. 1971, 1

Above all, do not join the wrong ideological groups or movements, in order to “do something.” By “ideological” (in this context), I mean groups or movements proclaiming some vaguely generalized, undefined (and, usually, contradictory) political goals. (E.g., the Conservative Party, which subordinates reason to faith, and substitutes theocracy for capitalism; or the “libertarian” hippies, who subordinate reason to whims, and substitute anarchism for capitalism.) To join such groups means to reverse the philosophical hierarchy and to sell out fundamental principles for the sake of some superficial political action which is bound to fail. It means that you help the defeat of your ideas and the victory of your enemies. (For a discussion of the reasons, see “The Anatomy of Compromise” in my book Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal.)

The “libertarians” . . . plagiarize Ayn Rand’s principle that no man may initiate the use of physical force, and treat it as a mystically revealed, out-of-context absolute . . . .

In the philosophical battle for a free society, the one crucial connection to be upheld is that between capitalism and reason. The religious conservatives are seeking to tie capitalism to mysticism; the “libertarians” are tying capitalism to the whim-worshipping subjectivism and chaos of anarchy. To cooperate with either group is to betray capitalism, reason, and one’s own future.

Harry Binswanger, “Q & A Department: Anarchism,”
The Objectivist Forum, Aug. 1981, 12

We get it.

Collapse is coming.

BUT WHEN?  Japan dragged it on for decades and still hasnt. Europe hasnt even started the massive printing stage yet.   America in all intents and purposes hasnt either.   Yes, yes the monetary bases have increased, so what?  Knowing its going to collapse can be barely helpfull and even detrimental if you get the timing all wrong.

In this case, you packaged an interesting idea in an easily digestible format (simplicity of expression is your friend).
