Google Trends Shows Why The Status Quo "Powers That Be" Should Be Scared. Very Scared

Tyler Durden's picture

The volume of searches for the phrase 'Bank Run' has just hit an all-time high - higher now than even during the peak of the Lehman Brothers 'moment'. While English dominates the language choices, the Europeans (Dutch, Germans, and French) are extremely 'interested' as are the Chinese...but it appears the Singaporeans are running the most scared (as we noted here) is perhaps not surprising, followed by the Irish and the Americans - with Germany a disappointing 10th - perhaps they really do not care as much as everyone's bluff-calling hopes. It seems the fears of real 'bank runs' are becoming virtually 'viral' - not a good sign for the stability of the fictional-reserve-banking-dependent status quo.

the enlightened few. My wife hates reality and thinks i'm nuts. Funny though, she wants me to manage her finances. I guess most people just can't handle reality -----hence vicarious tv reality shows. Make the real unreal and propagate the self delusion.

Water and fire will not be your biggest threats.

Cut the bottom out of a can of soup, empty it, and you can store sleeves of PMs, fiat, prescription meds, etc. in there mixed in your pantry.   Thieves are going to go for the safe, but may leave the Campbell's.  The old 'hidden in plain sight' trick.

Go into one of your closets and take a piece of base board off (I installed 5 1/2 inch tall for this reason), cut a hole in the drywall big enough to put your hand through.  Put your stuff in the wall cavity.  You usually get about 14-15 inches between studs per hole.

Replace baseboard to cover holes.

Unless they come into your house with scanners or metal detectors (IOW ordinary thieves) your PMs will still be hidden in the walls.

The term bank run barely showed up in literature until the creation of what?

*************

There were bank runs before the Fed-just not many because with gold standard the run ended in bankruptcy to the over extended bank-until--

eg: the 1907 panic which bankrupted several New York banks when people took out their gold-leaving banks with failed speculating positions-

It was because of that-the Fed was formed-to ensure no banker ever suffered losses again-

Funny how when a bank loses money (JPM) an investigation follows and something is put in place to correct the flaw

*********

The following year, Senator Nelson W. Aldrich, father-in-law of John D. Rockefeller, Jr., established and chaired a commission to investigate the crisis and propose future solutions, leading to the creation of the Federal Reserve System

With the exception of monthly operating income and expenses (less than $10,000), I took EVERYTHING out of the banks when BAC had that brain fart of charging massive transaction fees on the little people last year.

I sleep very well now that all the family's liquid assets are really liquid; gold, silver, gemstones and cash.  No closed bank branch, no empty ATM, no inaccessible safe deposit box to worry about.

If anyone wants to locate my compound, overcome all passive security, and engage a fanatically defended hard point then you are welcome to all the booty you can loot.

Take your money out of the bank before the run takes it from you. Put it in a bug out bag in a fire proof secret place(s).

You will sleep much better.  Promise.

OK Little Timmay Geithner is taking the podium now to speak (if that's what you call it when he grumbles).  I wonder if he is standing on a stack of phone books?  To watch it live click on this link:

...and this will be my last post on the matter....thanks for your patience on this.  I can't wait to hear what "advice" he gives to these new Keynesian Economists.

It's probably the contrarian microchip in my brain, but there was recently, in Michigan, a 'bank run'. Specifically this RIVER BANK RUNhttp://www.teamjulianfoundation.com/team-julian-raises-8k-at-river-bank-run/

Google trend the phrase "River Bank Run". Charity, bitchez.

P.S. Google 'bank run, michigan' and it's this event that pops up. Way less exciting, I know.

P.P.S. Do you actually think that a vast majority of people are going to google 'bank run' before they go to their banks in the face of an imminent banking collapse or something? That doesn't make sense.

P.P.P.S. Do I get a prize for figuring this out?

I was always warned about people like that when I was growing up. Good advice.

french think "Bank run" means a marathon event organised by a bank, like the NY Marathon. Nobody understands run as "filer à l'anglais". Now that is running tricky.

Imagine if you will a global network of data surveillance, its contents comprised of the records of activities, thoughts, associations, etc. of millions of people, and whose trends and stats can be known, analyzed, correlated, simulated and gamed in real-time. What would you do with that knowledge or the prospect of attaining it? I can think of a few evil things, and I consider myself a good person. Anyone else?

You sometimes find yourself herded into the wrong run. Witness Bill Clinton, he came to Monaco on a charity or VIP event and ended up being photographed with some local chicks. It happened to be the hottest porn stars of the french cinema. They were organising near Monaco, at a venue close to the Cannes film fesitval, the "hot" academy awards of the year...And Good Ole Bill landed up on the photo with three of the top stars at that festival.

"I offered them cigars.... Too bad it was on the side walk. "

Societe Generale U.S. Representative on CNBC with Maria "G6" Bartiromo is denying that there are any outflows from Greece or Spain into French and German banks.

"I just returned from France and saw no evidence of increased deposits coming from Greece or Spain." As his eyes furtively searched the floor to his right.

LIAR!

The Societe Generale rep. is now talking about "fear" being the problem and a need for "rational" approaches.

BARF!

we need to remove this broken monetary banking system from our lifes and adopt a new means for money before we all get strip of ever last ounce of our wealth we work so hard for.  just google and  read about the versus Zeus and SpyEye trojens and this will ether keep you off line or will make you run to the bank and extract your funds before it's strip away.

Wages have dropped from inflation, many have no job, credit cards are 28%, interest on deposits are NEGATIVE, and people have to eat and pay bills. Might as well spend the little hoard of cash on those "things" that one needs. Next we'll see bare shelves being reported. Use cash while it will still buy you something. We're just seeing a bank walk right now. Problem is every euro out means a 28 euro black hole needs to be filled by the banks.
