Greek Referendum Is On

Tyler Durden's picture

Contrary to rumors that the entire referendum will be called off, and be replaced with elections instead, it appears that it won't be, and instead, per the BBC, will progress based on G-Pap's fatal assumption that the public will actually vote for the bailout, the loss of sovereignty, and perpetual austerity. Good luck.

What are the chances of this being used as a bargaining chip cometh the next meeting with Merkozy?

As in "I want a better deal or you can kiss a non credit event good-fucking-bye" ?

Greek referendum spooks investors, may chill economy

The proliferation of economy in its current form is contingent upon the will of the people not being followed - read the headline in between the lines, it is very telling.

"Will of the people spooks international finance cartel, may relax the hold that the financiers and central planners have on the balls of sovereign individuals and countries"

The only real question now is WHEN will the referendum be held? I read some speculation about January.  That is ludicrous. How about a week ?

There has to be adequate time to spread propaganda.

Maybe G-Pap wants to worm out of the responsibilities attached to his bailouts by pinning default on Greek voters (if they vote for it).

How are the holders of Greek bonds feeling at this point?

I'm glad they're having a referendum.  But I think that only people who vote in favor of the bailout/austerity plan should be bound by it.

I don't know why they even want people to have a vote ... it's just not Greek, damn-it!
