You've Seen It Before, And Here It Is Again: "The Chart That Tears Apart The Stimulus Package"

Tyler Durden's picture

Over a year ago we penned "QE 2 Was A Disaster: Here Is Why US Fiscal "Stimulus" Was  A Complete Failure As Well", because, well, QE2 was a disaster, which is important to remember as we are about to set off on the NEW QE as per Hilsenrath, because apparently creating 80,000 jobs per month (with the S&P a whopping 5% off multi-year highs) "Leaves Door For Fed Wide Open" even though the Fed has shown beyond a shadow of a doubt it is incapable of creating jobs and at best can ramp the Russell 2000 for a few months. But more importantly, a year later it is obvious that the ARRA just kept on being wronger and wronger with each passing month, until we get to today. We will spare readers our conclusion about ARRA architect Christina Romer's (long gone from the administration for obvious reasons) predictive powers, suffice it to say they are on par with those of the Fed itself. Simon Black, using AEI data, reminds us how the ARRA chart looks, one year later.

The graph that tears appart the stimulus package

After Obama was elected, one of his first initiatives was to enact a massive stimulus package in order to reduce the rising unemployment after the housing collapse and bailout all the failing banks. When promoting his plan, the President offered many promises about the success of his idea but very few have so far come to fruition. Below is a graph that was supposed to estimate the effects of the stimulus, however as you can see, it far from achieved the President’s goals.

AEI reports on the ineffectiveness of the program:

The graph that tears appart the stimulus package

This was not the employment report either the American worker or the Obama campaign wanted to see right now. The Labor Department said the U.S. economy created just 80,000 jobs in June, less than the 90,000 economists had been forecasting. And private-sector job growth was just 84,000, down sharply from 105,000 in May. Not doing fine.

The unemployment rate stayed at a lofty 8.2%.

This continues to be the longest streak — 41 months — of unemployment of 8% or higher since the Great Depression. And recall that back in 2009, Team Obama predicted that if Congress passed its $800 billion stimulus plan, the unemployment rate would be around 5.6% today.

– If the size of the U.S. labor force as a share of the total population was the same as it was when Barack Obama took office—65.7% then vs. 63.8% today—the U-3 unemployment rate would be 10.9%. Even if you take into account that the LFP should be declining as America ages, theunemployment rate would be 10.5%.

– The broader U-6 unemployment rate, which includes “all persons marginally attached to the labor force, plus total employed part time for economic reasons,”  is 14.9%, up a bit from May.

– The average duration of unemployment ticked up to 39.9 weeks.

So adopting a child of another race will also change the probability of the child contracting a disease predominate to the child's original race?

So if a white person adopts a black child does the black child's chance of getting skin cancer now equal that of the white parents?

Or is this a selective thing you're talking about? Genetics only count for some things but not intelligence, attitude or behavior?

You will have to realize first, I despise bigots of any skin color. Are you positing the opinion that higher unemployment rates among blacks has something to do with skin color?

"So adopting a child of another race will also change the probability of the child contracting a disease predominate to the child's original race?"

Where is the "probability" of the specific diseases of the unemployed listed in the BLS reports again?

A rare event. I think I can improve on this US citizen statement.

So if a white person adopts a black child, does the black child's chance of getting white coloured skin now equals that of the white parents?

It is usually very hard to improve on US citizen statements of this kind because they excell so much at it.

But, but, but how a culture hold by extorters of the weak and farmers of the poor can be extended to the extorted and the farmed?

Who the extorted and the farmed are going to extort and farm to make the culture actual?

This or extortion and farming brings no benefits.

Really?

Once again, funny to read US citizens working as a pair to offuscate the issue.

Here, the cultural gang vs the biological gang to obscurate the fact that saturation occurring during an expansion process is either cultural or biological and not the result of the limits of the physical environment.

US citizens should keep up their good work, good/bad cop, hegelian dialectics and all. It is only a few years, ummm, decades, more than one century their game was exposed.

.....those more susceptible to state sponsored social engineering are those closest to the states teets

brick, concrete, steel, and glass all have their inherent traits, but a building's ultimate appearance and function is controlled by the architect who designed it.

what you are seeing is not just an expression of innate geneological traits, but the magnification and implantation of characteristics deemed desirable by TPTB enabled social engineers.

without external support, unsustainable behavior would not be sustainable, and evolution would take over.

I think you are trying to say blacks missed out on the Neanderthal DNA that all modern humans have...unless they are from Africa.

It is fascinating that some people have as much as 3% Neanderthal genes and with with such slight differences from the human genome to apes; It can be argued Africans have more in common with apes than modern humans. Of course anyone who has even hired one knows that.

They call that something...when you can't attack the message, attack the messenger.

I believe that's called an ad hominem attack.

Ad hominem attacks are used as a last resort attack normally when one's feelings get hurt. They almost never carry meaning or virtue. You sir, utilize this attack in a very perfunctory and asinine way. A truly callow attempt at this form of ad hominem attack to say the least.

Work on it.

You used this line of reasoning last time, it still fails.  I call you a retard because of your message, not because of whoever you may be, so it's not ad hominem.  My feelings are not hurt, I'm not even black.  Words like perfunctory or callow really don't help you sound much smarter, just like another angry douche spewing hate on his keyboard.  Just because you have other angry douches agreeing with you doesn't make your nonsense any more reasonable.

racists, trolls, "white hoods" implying klan membership (haha), Fuckin' pussies, and finishing with king fucking retard - are words you used.

And I spewed no hate, look at your words juxtopsed against mine. You're the one spewing vial filth and insults in ad hominem attacks.

You're accomplishing nothing other than saying:

Your a stupid pussy smoking cock head because you're a racist douchey head with poopy in your soul and you wear a klan mask.

That's really all you're saying. You have no form, depth or meaning, just random insults.

Instead of attacking the MEANING of what I am saying, you are attacking ME. You resort to that method because you CAN'T attack the meaning of what I say.

In fact, I don't even think I said anything racist...did I?

If one is non-white then one is looked upon with great favor by the governments, fed, state, local.

This video of Robert Reich and Charles Rangel discussing Stimulus Jobs really torqued me, but it wasn't on Brian Williams or the Today show, I would have thought maybe Stephanapolus or Matt Lauer would have discussed this or  Meet the Press, but shockingly NO, nothing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nT1TkLgfinE

Of course it is not just the Stimulus jobs or affirmative action or the H1-B and all those other visas that hurt but this sort of thing also:

Bill Gates Millenium Scholarships "Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they:

• Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian and Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American;"

"The goal of GMS is to promote academic excellence and to provide an opportunity for outstanding minority students with significant financial need to reach their highest potential by: Reducing financial barriers for African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American and Hispanic American students with high academic and leadership promise who have significant financial need;"

http://www.gmsp.org/

http://college.lovetoknow.com/Bill_Gates_Scholarship

The “Hispanic Scholarship Fund” (HSF) says that it “aims to put a degree in every Latino household by 2025” through its affirmative action program in college recruitment.

Funding for the HSF comes from a large number of corporations, which, according to that organization’s website, include the FedEx Corporation; the Mazda Foundation; KLASS Time; GMAC Financial Services; Lowe’s; the McNamara Family Foundation, Inc.; Goldman Sachs; Procter & Gamble; Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc.; the Verizon Foundation; McDonald’s; Target; the Morgan Stanley Foundation; Nissan North America, Inc.; the Sallie Mae Fund; Wells Fargo; the Draper Family Foundation; the Shell Oil Company; the Wachovia Foundation and the UPS Foundation, amongst many others.

The HSF says specifically that it is only for “Latinos” and those of Hispanic descent.

It obviously does not concern these corporations in the slightest that their money is used specifically for non-whites.

On the HSF’s website, under their “Frequently Asked Questions” section, the policy is spelled out in no uncertain terms:

“Do I have to be Hispanic/Latino to apply?” is the question the website asks.
The answer is: “Yes. You or your family must be descended from at least one of the following countries: Spain, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Cuba, Puerto Rico, or the Dominican Republic. Students from Brazil are eligible to apply.

You're only getting half of the point of the program.  Sure, maybe it's a great idea to talk up racism at every opportunity, but this is more about MONEY.

The push to get the minorities into schools is to get the ones who haven't been ensnared yet saddled with debt they have no hope of repaying.  The government is on the hook for all the students who wash out and don't pay.

(BTW, a fair number of hispanics/latinos are "white."  There were plenty of slave-owning Spaniards and Portuguese during the colonial period.)

Sorry, Blunder, but I don't agree. I web searched both terms (wireless lavolier and the battery pack for it), and I don't see anything that looks remotely like that, and I seriously doubt that they would make her hike up her skirt and wear a battery pack between her legs! Give me a break, dude.

Do you believe the official story of 911, too?

As for "my fantasy," whatever. I want to know what this is, and I don't buy your explanation. Maybe you're right? Right now I'm doubting it, sorry, and the "official" explanation looks like crap to me, too.

I think she's not wearing it. I think she's lifting up her skirt and putting the toy close to her while the straps for it dangle over her right leg. But I think it's a huge, black strapon, dude. I hope some other folks chime in and give some input.

Yeah, I did some video production a few years back and I know what it is.  The mics are tiny, but they require a lot of power, and the transmitter/battery-pack is about the size of a brick.  The young hotties can't wear them in the small of their back where the men and older women do because the camera needs to get the occasional ass-shot in, so in a tight-skirt, the only reasonable place is the inner thigh.

Here's an image of the kit--the thing under her skirt is the transmitter/power-source, and in the pic linked, it looks a bit like a walkie-talkie.

I'm proliferating it today (something I don't normally do) because I want a good answer, and yours isn't it. The only thing that looks even remotely like this on the link that you offer is the microphone reversed into her crotch, and I don't think they're doing that.

I also think that tests like this (what's really happening) are good tests of logical skills for public blogs. If you think that what we see in the video is what you post in the link, I strongly disagree. That thing could be mounted anywhere besides between her legs (like under the desk), and again, the battery pack and the mic are very different in shapes and... everything. That post of yours does not answer the question, sorry. :)

I like a lot of your posts, but I need a better answer than this.

What I like about this question, logically, specifically, is that there can only be one answer. I'm still looking for it.

And what camera needs "to get an ass-shot in?" She's sitting in a chair. Her back would be perfect. And the straps clearly dangle across her leg: They don't look fastened. And the toy is pressed up tightly against her crotch. And her mic is not the one malfunctioning? Is her battery pack supposed to be powering the other woman's mic?

I just don't buy it, sorry. Thanks for the feedback, though. Maybe you're right, and I'm an idiot, but it looks like something else.

You don't even see it for more than a frame, which in that shot is a pitifully low-res image. What you're seeing is the rounded side of a rectangular block that's mostly covered by her thigh and resting on the seat-cushion.  She probably had just switched on the transmitter because the OTHER reporter was having technical difficulties and she had to go live sooner than she expected.

The deal with the ass-shots isn't that they're looking for them as the camera just happens to sweep past her--the point is that once you get used to wearing uncomfortable equipment, you tend to always wear it the same way.

Check out Antonioni's movie "Blow-Up."  It's a useful metaphor.  When the human brain doesn't know what it's seeing, it can make up ANYTHING.

I saw Blow-up many years ago but watched it several times.

Thanks for reminding me of it, and I agree with your psychological interpretation, strongly--just for the record here.

I just don't think that the image is presented for only a frame. I have already slow-mo'ed the film many times. I think we get five to seven frames' worth of images of it, and it's rounded, like a toy.

I admit that you have taught me a concept I didn't know, so thanks. It does logically seem like it could be the type of battery pack you describe, just a different one than you depict in your image. But I still don't understand why they would require her to wear it under her skirt like that or why there wouldn't be a sound man to switch mics rather than having a reporter hike up her skirt.

I'm listening to you and considering what you're saying, and I'm grateful for the interaction. Thanks. :)

And your explanation of the "ass-shots" is very logical.

But wouldn't Bberg reporters, like her, who always report from a desk and chair setup, just have these things handy on the arm of the chair or under the desk, instead of between their legs? What if they wore pants? And if it were in the small of the back, wouldn't that be worse if there were a switch on it they had to activate every time it was their turn to speak?

You see, I have some logical problems with your explanation. Thanks for your patience, though. Perceiving reality correctly is important to me. Something is happening here, and I want to freakin' know what it is.

For example, I'm seeing stuff like this when I search what you say. And even if (IF in caps) I buy that explanation, her mic wasn't malfunctioning, and I just can't believe they would make her wear a battery pack under her dress, right where a penis would be, like that, and that she would have to lift up her skirt to fix a technical problem.

If that's what you think reality is, we're far off base. I actually think it's much more believable that she was dared or something to play with a strapon during a newscast. Sorry, it looks an awful lot like the latter, not the former.

Of course, every "conspiracy" needs an "official explanation." Here it is:

http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/12173898-news-anchor-sara-eise...

First, the other reporter's mic was malfunctioning, not Sarah's. Second, do they really believe that readers would think that she would have a microphone between her legs or have to hike up her skirt to fix it? Third, the piece mentions nothing about a strapon, which this image clearly represents. Of course, the piece offers no image.

It's important why? Because it shows how blatantly the mm lies. Can you not see it? The chick got caught playing with a strapon, and the spin is utterly ridiculous.

As Gary Johnson submitted in the primaries...his dog had more shovel ready jobs than Prez Owe. You want to get this country up and running...look into the Space program...you can employ lots of retired engineers, put construction guys to work, sheetmetal workers, miners, steel factories, Ti producers, chemical industry, etc, etc. Get the big aerospace companies together and let's set up a new Corporation...they all get a piece of the action, the public can buy stock and lets get this country moving again. We were number one here, now we have "steerage" tickets on a Russian rocket to get into orbit. Soon maybe we can hitch a ride on  Chinese translunar airways to the moon. I agree, and honestly I'd think there's an opportunity here, given just how much it cost tax-payers to make sure the QE beneficiaries didn't lose their jobs.

Seems to me if folks are worried about other things, like housing for example, gummit *could* just institute a mandate that for each 2x multiple of the median US salary, each "bailed out" taxpayer has to buy another house.

So...if Dimon "earned" $23,000,000 last year, take double the median wage (call it $28K), divide it out, and VOILA: Dimon is mandated to buy 425 houses or pay a tax penalty.

Just spitballing here, feel free to add your own ideas.  We already know the Supreme Court would support the Constitutionality.

I'm feeling contrarian tonight, and I have a different take on this. I think your post is very conventional, but wrong, thinking.

Answer the question: which comes first, the alcohol or the alcoholic? Which is the leading variable, and which is the lagging?

The reality is that alcoholism is only possible due to the fact that humans learned how to artifically create alcohol by mimicking natural processes that are actually quite rare. My understanding is that mead was the first artifical fermentation, copying fermented honey from bee hives in trees under special conditions. Probably early humans saw that the bears sure enjoyed it, and took a clue and tried it themselves. It was probably a very long time before they figured out how to copy this artificially, but it is a good example of a technology leading towards social harm down the line, when there are few limits on the ability to produce in volume.

The thing is, this same pattern is evident in every form of technology. I could ask a similar question as yours, and ask: whose fault is our dependence on foreign oil? Consumers or producers? Would there be consumers if there weren't producers? Don't producers bear any responsibility? What about pesticides, or GMOs, or nanoparticles, or Fukushima and the rest of the nuclear nightmare? We are a culture that is profoundly, and completely addicted to technological solutions to the problems of life. And just as with alcohol to the alcoholic, the ability to produce all manner of things in ever increasing quantities will be our undoing.

I could ask a similar question as yours, and ask: whose fault is our dependence on foreign oil? Consumers or producers? Would there be consumers if there weren't producers?

We won't agree on a consensus here but I would say our dependance from foreign oil comes from neither consumers, nor, producers, but from politicians. That is the way I see the issue on foreign oil.

And basically, most of your response, though not all of it in it's entirety was in agreence with my original response to LetThemEatRand. That being, it is our fault for being down the road we have found ourselves on.

I see the politicians and the oil companies as more or less one in the same. I find it interesting that you think they're distinct entities. Nevertheless, I will raise my question again, since you didn't answer it: which comes first, the alcohol, or the alcoholic?

"We are a consumer driven sloth" - It is a globalization scheme designed by the bankers and globalists, the result has been two fold.  First being the hiding of inflation by using slave wage labor in 3rd world nations to produce the 'cheap' products on the shelves, second: crushing of american made products by unfair competition in trade policy even if it is amerikan companies that are offshored and shipping the stuff in, 3rd cheap credit.  People react to how they are treated and they are treated like yesterday's trash by corporations and they tend to blame themselves and act out.  Contrarian evidence ... criminal bankers are always dressed well as are politicians... just like Al Capone.  All is not what the eye sees and the mind infers.

FAIL again!  If we taxed EVERYBODY at 100% we are still screwed.  It is too much spending, not lack of taxes (excuse me, revenue) that is killing us.

Trickledown economics can’t work when the givemes have the alternative of leaching off the government instead of working.  Are you really saying the problem with the economy is that we haven’t taken enough money from the rich so poor people can buy more crap from the apple?

Are you really saying that we can have a working economic system where 400 people have more wealth than more than 100 million people combined?  At the height of American success an average CEO made maybe 20 times what a mid-manager made.  Today it is hundreds of times as much.

That's exactly what I'm saying.  If you or anyone else feels like you deserve more, go get it!  Start your own business, go back to school, change professions, improve yourself, work for it!  This victim mentality that you can't be rich because the government hasn't transferred enough wealth is disgusting and will never work in America.  Hard work and self-determination is what made the middle class not central planning and redistribution.  I'll take freedom over government dependency every day of the week.
