Guest Post: Obama - The Wimpy President

”I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.”Wimpy from the Popeye comic

Wimpy was a glutton, and would consume burgers at a ferocious rate but could rarely pay for his habit. The phrase implies the underlying feeling that the person will unlikely actually pay for the hamburger (or whatever) on Tuesday (or ever, for that matter). Does that describe the United States of America in general and specifically our Keynesian President Barack Obama?

Obama’s speech tomorrow night is no longer a secret. For whatever reason, the White House purposely leaks the major themes of the speech. Based on the Bloomberg article below I’d say my article from two weeks ago anticipating Obama’s plan is about 99% on the mark (http://www.theburningplatform.com/?p=20378).

How stupid and gullible can the American people be? One month ago Obama signed a supposed $2.1 Trillion deficit cutting bill over ten years with 60% of the identified cuts between 2018 and 2021 (TUESDAY). A full 1% of the total cuts ($21 billion) were slated for 2012. The left wing libtards screamed like a stuck pig about these horrific cuts that would destroy the American economy and starve orphans and old people. Paul Krugman’s head started to spin and green vomit was projected all over the NYT press office.

Well our cost cutting, spending focused, deficit hawk president (WIMPY) held the line on spending for exactly 30 days. He is asking for $300 billion of burgers for 2012 and he promises to pay for them at some time in the future (after his hoped for 2nd term is up in 2016). The balls on this guy are immense. Not only that, but its the same bullshit he’s been peddling for two and a half years.

  • Extend the payroll tax cut
  • Extend unemployment benefits
  • Send billions to the states so they don’t have to get their budgets to balance
  • Pour billions into “shovel ready” infrastructure projects that don’t exist

The Democrats tell us that Social Security is a secure program that is fully funded even though the Trustees report on the fund shows a $17.5 trillion unfunded liability. Obama cut the Social Security tax from 6.2% to 4.2% at the beginning of this year. This was supposed to give a huge boost to the economy. How’d the work out? But I thought the 6.2% we paid was supposed to fund our retirements. In reality, Obama’s plan is like having you reduce your 401k contribution from 6.2% to 4.2% and telling you your income just increased. Obamanistas and Keynesians are only worried about today. Screw the future. Obama will be out of office, writing memoirs, and doing the talking circuit, earning millions, when the implications of his brilliant plans destroy the country.

How many times can they extend unemployment benefits? The extension of unemployment benefits keeps the unemployment rate from falling. That is a fact. The Federal Reserve did a study and concluded that extending unemployment compensation added 1% to the unemployment rate.

A Chicago Federal Reserve study suggests that the extension of unemployment insurance benefits during the recent economic downturn can account for somewhere in the neighborhood of 1 percentage point of the increase in the unemployment rate, with a preferred estimate of 0.8 percentage points.

So, in a Keynesian mind, extending unemployment benefits somehow creates jobs even though scientific data proves that people don’t look for work until their benefits are about to run out. Do we live in bizarro world?

The infrastructure bullshit is all about getting union votes in the next election. You can bet that any money distributed by the Obamanistas for infrastructure will go to the districts that will be most important to his re-election in 2012. This will be nothing but pork. Black topping roads and building parks and fixing schools that should have been fixed ten years ago is not infrastructure. The sewer pipes and water pipes beneath our cities are crumbling, but repairing and replacing pipes isn’t sexy enough for Obama and his Keynesians. They will continue to burst while the money is spent on green energy bullshit projects. The electrical grid will be ignored because no one votes for you because you make a good long-term investment. A tot lot or train museum named after your Congressman is what you’ll get.

But don’t you worry. Obama will pay you next Tuesday for the $300 billion of spending he’ll do today.

....that's too bad, Helix. Name-calling and calling out the scumbags is the only human action that makes sense now. Playing martyr hasn't and won't get the American people anywhere other than more of the same status-quo bullshit we're dealing with now. Where have all the cajones gone?

I will be more than happy to turn my portion of the national debt over to these assholes that insist on funding public unions and welfare for everybody. Really. Go ahead and be a fucking humanitarian...just make sure you pay for it bitchez.

I think it is coming.  This is REAL stimulus.  I am not keynesian, but if your handing out cash why not make sure the ones who will spend it (and work for a living) get some.  That has not happened yet.

I am sure this will dovetail with Obummer's re-election efforts somehow, so don't expect it too soon.  I want to see it none the less.

You could blame Obama, or you could blame Bush baby who really gave the death spiral a great shove.

You could blame Obama, or you could blame the American people who elected Bush baby twice.

You could blame Obama, or you could blame the American people who elected a GOP congress that has made it job 1 to make sure that nothing happens while Obama is president.

You could blame Obama for Obamacare not working as well as it might, or you could blame the GOP which has done everything in its power to make sure Obamacare would not work.

You cuold blame Obama for the debt, or you could blame the GOP that voted in all the programs that created the debt.

You could have your blame Obama hamburger today, but you will pay down the road for electing the GOP.

It seems we could change things pretty rapidly around here if we did 2 things. 1) Next election cycle vote in 3rd party candidates across the board. (I realize they cant change things overnight, but it would send the message to TPTB) and 2) everyone with money in the market, 401k, etc pull it ALL out.  After the hard reset of the markets we could start rebuilding.  Did I mention that your pantry should be prepped first?  Anything less than a hard reset is just window dressing, Repub v Dem is the wrong arguement, Statist v Personal Liberty needs to be the arguement...

January 21, 2013...President Perry called Fed Chairman Ron Paul today to insist he increase purchases of Treasuries to the 3 Trillion per month level of his predecesor or be replaced. The TEA Party endorsed the move to prevent the total collapse of Social Security. "Our people cannot live on $30,000 per month with gas at $57 a gallon and bread at $32 a loaf." It never ceases to amaze me how much importance people assign to whatever flavor of the next four years sits in the oval office. the very role of the president has been for quite some time, is and will be to speak forth the blasphemes of his masters...that's his job and it doesn't make a damn bit of difference is his name is Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush ect, ect, or what letter may precede his name. Until people like this author get over the false, propaganda driven, socially engineered left, right paradigm there can be no serious discussion of restoring America in any sense of the word.

The whole $300 billion "tax cuts" fiasco part what? Tres?

Let's face it, mega "Amerikan companies" like GE that benefit from these shell games are just as likely to move more jobs overseas than reinvest in Amerikan employment.  The corporate tax code isn't even a code; they already do not pay any taxes. Just ask Warren Buffet.  What a joke.  These fuckers are totally clueless.  Might as well pass a bill for $300 gajillion in Food Stamps because that is the only thing keeping reasonable and patient people from kicking ass.   The Fortune 100, their top management and board of directors would wipe their asses with the American Flag if put a dollar in the back pocket while Joe Six-pack mortgages his kids to pay for the TSA to molest his wife.  People do not have the physical money to sustain the economy.  You have to have demanders with cash in order for a business to want to buy capex for the future.  The money has all been vacuumed out of the country or is used to pay inflated food prices.

The country will not be allowed to come back until the banks are shut down due to malfeasance and their fake debt-slavery is vacated, or the whole mess gets transferred to an extralegal world central bank that monitors your new banana republic wages from a converted aircraft carrier off the coast of Monaco and enforced with Mexican and Canadian troops

That's the race people and you are losing.

All wrong?  Please give ONE example of what is going right in this country.

Obama is us.  Congress is us.  It's a mirror held to the face of our collective dysfunction.  He was handed the wheel to the Titanic about 10' minutes after it hit the iceberg and there's not enough room on the lifeboats.  Worrying about the Keynesian taint to a jobs program added to the colossal heap of debt tinder- it's a maggot on the rotting carcass of a mammoth.  The monetary relief packages lobbed in (starting with Bush) missed the mark and landed in the hedged-in compounds in Greenwich.  Time for them to hunker down and buy a few more rolls of toilet paper and another box of rounds for the Glock.  We'll face some mounting desperation in the middle classes; hope gives way to despair and economic zombies will roam the streets.  Yes, perhaps Perry or Republicans can restore confidence- he has the hair and sleight of hand maneuvers to distract the snarling, steak eating, American Exceptionalist spectrum of the political rainbow (let's talk about rehab'ing the gays and abortion! Man up and starve!)  But the frothy rage scribed here is miscalculated and dimensionless.  We need to accept that there will be pain and have a discussion about how to amputate the bloated and gaseous limb, which is of our first world expectations, in order to save the patient....

This guy is also a fucking retard.  Still a monetarist through a through.

People who hold balanced budgets over everything else, have unbalanced minds.

The fact that he is passing 'cuts' even if they don't materialize, as thought right now is one thing.  But eventually the hammer goes down.

Even then cuts ARE being made, to important things.  See the space shuttle anywhere?  Oh but it doesn't count as 'cut' because we're spending the proceeds somewhere else.

People that view things like a monetarist, whether it's fucktard Obama, or the fucktard author of the 'guest post' are equally wrong.

They forget the cuts are already happening.  They are happening on the state and federal level.  Look at what both Obama's and Rick fascist Perry's cuts did in Texas....did you hear about 1000 homes being destroyed?  Well that was brought to you by CUTS.

Cuts are happening, they're just being then spent on crap like bailouts and tax cuts.

Then the same zero sum monetarist dumbfucks who are as clueless as Obama rail about there not being 'cuts'.  Forgetting of course that merely passing such fascist cuts instead of cancelling the fraudulent debt is a crime against humanity.

Republicans, Democrats, Tea Party, all using completely useless metrics to judge things.  I guarantee if we did everything this fucktard wanted, the collapse would still occur.

Don't cut for fraud

Don't print for fraud

Don't tax for fraud

Don't sell gold for fraud

Cancel the fraud.

But hey we can't do what's right, we have to look at bullshit monetary metrics that are completely useless and rail about a number figure when the real meat of the discussion is between the lines.

The way this dumbass sees things, if we bailed out the banks trilliions more dollars, and cut all safety nets to ZERO, and there was a +1 percent total spent, the idiot would still say 'there aren't any cuts'.

Way to miss the forest from the trees due to the following of dogmatic monetarist metrics.

I honestly don't know how you received 5 ups.  I've read your posts in the past and realize that you have not a single clue what Glass Steagall is.  It's just a phrase you throw around.  I've now concluded that you also have not a clue what monetary theory is either.  Again, just a phrase to toss around.  I'm guessing you're a federal/state employee.  Or a congressman.  Or a union official.

A couple of hints:  Glass Steagal has nothing to do with fraud and monetary policy has nothing to do with spending cuts.

He is railing against the system. That is always good for a few nonthinking types to give a thumbs up.

I pointed out a couple of days ago his posts are uneducated and not worth reading. I suggested he actually read something about monetarist thinking.

Republicans, Democrats, Tea Party, all using completely useless metrics to judge things. I guarantee if we did everything this fucktard wanted, the collapse would still occur.

Probably true.  Collapse is quite likely, whatever is done.  I'm in favor of honesty, but when you cut all the known fraud out of government, is there enough left to hold it together?! If so, what is the reaction?   If we are lucky we don't get hard facism and/or a major war before or during collapse.

off topic...  we alwys here stories of some crazy weirdo (ihop) with a gun killing a bunch of people, right?  I have never once heard a single story of an able armed citzen who happened to be on the scene cutting short such a rampage, yet i know it has to happen.  can anyone direct me to such a story?

A business owner at that scene had his weapon but chose to duck and cover because you had a more heavily armed person firing (some say in full auto) everywhere. He stated that the gunman ran into the iHop and fled to the back of the restaurant before opening fire again. If you want more stories Google it...

Obama has clearly shown he is devoid of any type of business acumen. He and no one in his staff have EVER created a private sector job, wrote a paycheck, ran a company,or worked for any private sector company other than acedamia.

They practice a psuedo Keynsenian-Marxist philosophy that is intended to convert our capatolistic society into one that is based on Marxist-Leninist principles dependent on government. Everything he has done since taking office has been to expand the pqwers of the Federal Government while dismantling and burdening the private sector. The only growth in "employment" has been in the public sector.  Obama has taken over the insurance, banking, auto, mortgage, student loan, and healthcare industries. He has added almost 5trillion in debt and pushed us over  100% debt to  GDP. He has presided over the first time the US has had its credit rating lowered. Unemployment is really almost 20%. Food stamp usage is at an all time high. I could go on and on.

I do not expect  him to change or show any moderation, That is not who he is or what he believes. The only "change" I want is in 2012 when we remove him from office.

I think Obama should re-introduce slavery...or at least send Maxine Waters back to Africa.

I'd be happy getting Ms. Waters back to her people. I think she could be very positive over there. If she needs a couple of friends I would have no problem subsidizing a ticket for Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi, tax payer dollars; all inclusive. I think it would be very positive for the indiginous population. It would be a good way to establish relations among other countries/continents.

From Taibbi's article linked above:

"In particular, the insane decision to turn the once-routine procedure of raising the debt ceiling (Lofgren notes it was done 87 times since WWII) into a political crisis revealed that the GOP party mainstream had sunk to the level of terrorism – holding our economic system hostage in exchange for political concessions."

So, the American Economic System is based on ever increasing debt and those that oppose it are 'insane'?

Its the Debt Stupid.... Not just the federal debt but mainly consumer debt. Not enough demand isn't going to get fixed by putting a few people to work building a new school. What we need is to restructure the consumer debt or pay it down or off. Nothing else will do a damn thing to solve the situation we are in.

Technically it is not even "Keynesian" anymore.  It is some modern "bubble-magic, debts don't matter" abortion of Keynesian economics.  Is what was required to keep the system for falling over dead decades ago.

Time to stop voting has come.  Don't legitimize what is happening in DC with our votes.  Time to get out of FRN and into real money is also upon us (time to stop paying taxes is coming soon) ...

Time to be prepared to take real action...not play bullshit Dem/Repub games (social issues that ultimately mean nothing but help divide and distract).  The governance of this nation will have to be taken back (hopefully in a peaceful movement) but it will need to be wrestled from the lobbyists, the politicians, the bankers.  It will need to be made local again so "the little people" again believe they have a say in their future.  Federal power must be destroyed and local state and muni power reasserted.  Bankers control of this nation must be stopped.

Our opportunity is only strengthened by the outlandish DC politicans (right / left) who ultimately march to the same tune...PM's and survival skills are fine things as a bridge to the other side but it's time to seriously consider what "we" are to be once we have crossed this bridge.

I know how to fix this crap.  We just cut out the middleman, and adopt a poor, barefoot Appalacian cabin-dweller ourselves.  No government involvement at all.  From what I can tell, just adopting about 2 dozen of these families will save so many costs bureacracy-wise, we can afford that Invasion we always wanted.  I think they cost about half as much as my property taxes, if memory serves.  (That means the taxes are "low" as I dwell in a townhovel).

Seriously, didn't Care For The Poor used to be a function of the church?  I still have an AM radio, so I'm askin'.  Civilized folks don't come by my place but once, so I don't get much news.  (Think Golgotha with nicer furniture).

And by the way, if any of you vote for Rick Perry and you are not impossibly intoxicated at the time, you have hairy thighs and don't love the Lord.  Do you hear me?  That dumb sumbitch can't hit a cow with a shovel.  I live here.  I have to put up with that shit.  He has no skills or tools of any kind, and is so useless Karl Rove regrets creating him and keeps sending him pretzels.

There is no point in making fun of our house-boy president.  He is a captive servant of his masters, like many previous holders of the job, who hid that fact better.  It is the masters who need to be thrown out.

Some "impossible"suggestions that could result in that, or an initial 12 step program:

1. End or repeal all existant "emergency executive orders" and other declared emergencies.

2. Require that all future executive orders expire within six months unless incorporated into law by CONgress, and that a provision in an executive order that has expired cannot be inserted in a new one for ten years.

3. Disengage from all battles, wars, and attempts to control in the Middle East and North Africa.

4.. Deconstruct the "empire", withdraw troops as feasable, maintain a strong defence, but reduce overseas bases by about half as a start (to around 400).

5. Repudiate USA debt to the Fed and abolish the Fed.  Let insolvent banks fail.

6. Repeal legal tender laws and allow a free market in money.

7. Issue US Gold and Silver Coins but not paper currency and open the US Mint to free coinage of a citizen's gold and silver bullion.

8. Repeal Omnibus debt ceiling and return to requiring each US debt incurred to be voted on seperately except in time of declared war

9. Prohibit all corporations from lobbying and contributing to political candidates

10. Initiate term limits for US Congress and Senate and abolish all political parties.

11. Abolish the "war on drugs" the "war on terror" and the war on truth.

12. Control the Mexican border, remove illegal alien Mexicans (as discovered) and repatriate them to Mexico at points far from our border.  Repatriate most other illegals to their countries also.

Personally i think this mess is beyond fixing, and i'm sure i forgot something essential, but the above might make a good start, if any of it were possible.

Mr. Obama will have to dish out some serious medical grade hopium tomorrow to the public.  His political opposition will NOT support the things the Federal Government can do regards job growth unless voters in their districts insist they do.

Which, given the size and type of purse strings within reach of the House, is a pretty large menu.

The private sector ain't going to do shit without a catalyst.

Look, I hate His Teleprompterness with the white-hot intensity of a thousand suns (principally because he's a grifter punk who's had the world handed to him courtesy of the very country he seems to hold in such contempt - which, of course, certain people here will translate directly to "because he's BLACK!!!!!!11!!1!!!1!!"). But let's get real for a second - we (as in the US of A) have been a nation of "buy now, pay later if ever" for my entire life (I'm 45). Everyone, and I do mean everyone, believes they are entitled to vast amounts of government they are serially unwilling to pay a dime for. Been happening certainly since the mid-60's and probably for a good long time before that. We want the best schools for our little darlings, full of great hot meals (2x per day, of course), pristine roads and bridges, the biggest, baddest soldiers and weapons on the planet, plenty of free candy for the "less fortunate", and of course a fully-funded "pension" system with top-shelf healthcare and all the Viagra we can take - and we all want the mythical "someone else" to pay for it.

Well, "someone else" never existed and now the bill for our 50-year or so orgy of gluttony is due.

Point being, this clearly didn't start with The Won. Obama is merely the latest instalment of Idol America's Dr. Feelgood - only perhaps a slightly smarmier and (frankly) lazier version than we've had in the past.

Mostly true, but you seem to blame the victims who are unaware they are in the matrix.  You describe the sucess of a national brainwashing program.  Those who can feel something is wrong, but can't describe the problems, are still suffering from that brainwashing.   Many here see the problems with varing degrees of clarity, and are not in your "everyone".   Who exactly dumbed down the teaching of history, civics, economics and turned schools into conditioning centers graduating marks to be sheared? (in the case of college, allready sheared and highly indebted marks for the most part)  "Buy now, pay later" benefits who??  Who benefits from the nonstop programming to consume in all US media?  Who wants folks dependent on government rather than trying to control it?  The same folks pulling the puppet strings of the politicians.
