Understanding The Slave Mentality
In the initial stages of nearly every recorded tyranny, the saucer eyed dumbstruck masses exhibit astonishing and masterful skill when denying reality. The facts behind their dire circumstances and of their antagonistic government become a source of cynical psychological gameplay rather than a source of legitimate concern. Their desperate need to maintain their normalcy bias creates a memory and observation vacuum in which all that runs counter to their false assumptions and preconceptions disappears forever. It is as if they truly cannot see the color of the sky, or the boot on their face. The concrete world of truth becomes a dream, an illusion that can be heeded or completely ignored depending on one’s mood. For them, life is a constant struggle of dissociation, where the tangible is NOT welcome…
This is the problem that we in the Liberty Movement deal with most often in our writings and films. Our confrontation with willful ignorance has been epic, even by far reaching historical standards. The gains in social awareness have been substantial, and yet the obstacles are incredible. Unprecedented. As an activist trend, we have an almost obsessive drive to draw back the curtain so that the public has at least the opportunity to see what is on the other side. Unfortunately, there is another danger that must be taken into account…
It is one thing to bear witness to the rejection of truth in our time and the oblivious attitudes of many towards the growth of totalitarianism. Eventually, though, a second phase in the development of oligarchy arises. I am speaking of the point at which tyranny becomes so blatant that the skeptics have to acknowledge its existence, but after doing so, they choose to rationalize it as necessary. Yes, there are many in this world that will laugh at the prospect of the Orwellian nightmare only to happily embrace it when it arrives in full color.
I was recently looking into the divisive issue of U.S. Marine Sgt. Gary Stein, whose position has come under threat due to his criticisms of Barack Obama and his founding of the ‘Armed Forces Tea Party Facebook Page’. What I discovered was a large number of Americans in support of Stein’s right to speak as a citizen (even under Marine regulations) against the unconstitutional actions of any president or presidential candidate. I also discovered a considerable number who wanted to see the soldier dishonorably discharged, or even set upon a noose as punishment.
Now, we all know that the Department of Defense monitors web news and social networking activity, and they have been caught red handed in the past posing as regular citizens with strangely militant pro-authoritarian views (look into their organized propaganda attacks on websites dealing with the levee failures during Katrina, for instance). It is by no means a stretch to suggest that they would also troll the comments sections of mainstream news articles in an attempt to engineer a fraudulent consensus that Sgt. Stein’s actions have been negatively received by the majority of Americans. But that aside, the underlings at the DOD are still Americans, and the views they espouse are still expressions of a subsection of this country (a small elitist one). Also, sadly, there are plenty of non-government-paid people out there who believe exactly as they do.
Surely, we can debate over the details of Marine regulations until our ears bleed, and I could point out several facts that the mainstream media did not cover in their hit pieces on Stein (like the fact that he went to his superiors and asked them to advise him in the handling of his political position long before the present charges against him were ever formulated, and the fact that he followed many of their suggestions…), but ultimately, the regulations of the Marines or the Federal Government are irrelevant. Such laws are transitory, and are usually written so broadly that the authorities of the day can execute them however they wish to fit their needs at the moment. The real question here is one of principle, moral compass, and Constitutionality (a document which is a reflection of eternal natural law). We have to set aside the pointless legalese of defense standards in the case of Sgt. Stein and ask ourselves an important question; do U.S. troops have a right to free speech?
If you believe so, then their rights are not limited or exclusive. They are free to say whatever any other American has a right to say. If you believe they do not, then you have relegated the troops to the position of second class citizens, or even property of the state. There is NO in-between. Discipline and military coherence be damned. Either these men and women have First Amendment protections and are full citizens or they are mechanisms of the government whose civil liberties have been erased.
Even though I understand the psychology behind it, I am still shaken with raw electrical astonishment when confronted by those who support the latter notion that American soldiers are indeed property of the state, that their actions must be dictated by the president and not the Constitution, and that this is required for the military to function.
Very few of these absurd multitudes ever ask what “function” such a military, populated by ethical robots who are blindly subservient to the dictates of a single man, would actually serve?
What good is an unprincipled military? An unprincipled government? An unprincipled society? What reason is there for these constructs to exist? The Nuremberg Trials solidified the reality that soldiers will be held accountable for following criminal orders, and still, there are some who claim that our troops must adopt a shoot first pay later methodology.
I bring up the circumstances of Sgt. Stein to illustrate the situation our nation is currently facing; we are on the threshold of total despotism, where the naysayers who shrugged off the threat of rogue government yesterday suddenly embrace it and support it today. When Stewart Rhodes first formed the Oath Keepers organization, the same talking point was consistently used in an attempt to derail it; “The orders you would refuse to obey could never occur in this country…” And yet, many of the warnings of Oath Keepers have come to pass, including the unlawful disarming of peaceful U.S. citizens during the disaster in New Orleans, the institution of government directed assassination programs of U.S. citizens under Bush and Obama, the passing of NDAA legislation which includes provisions for indefinite detainment of Americans without trial, warrantless wiretapping, surveillance, and even home invasion by authorities is becoming common, and the Obama Administration has put into place several executive orders (including the The National Defense Resources Preparedness EO) which pave the way for Martial Law to be declared.
The cold hard reality is, the Oath Keepers were right, and Sgt. Stein is right.
And, now that this is becoming undeniable, the opponents of their tenets are switching gears to fight for the implementation of unconstitutional laws which they used to deny were even possible. Can this situation be any more insane? Oh yes…
There are no limits to the surrealist hell that can be unleashed when dealing with what I like to call the “Slave Mentality”. The slave mentality takes many shapes. It is pervasive in times of social distress, and, it can be infectious. The psychologist Carl Jung wrote in his book ‘The Undiscovered Self’ that the cruel sociopathy seen in the populations of Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia is actually latent in many of us. All it needs is the right set of sociopolitical circumstances and a weak enough will, and the shadows in the hearts of lesser men are given license to come out and play. This is just as true in America, where people now operated on assumptions that the state is an absolute provider in the event of national calamity.
But what are the signs of this unconscious desire for collectivism and control? What makes a slave do what he does? Here are just a handful of explanations to consider…
The True Slave: The true slave is not a person who has been shackled, beaten, tortured, and made to comply under threat of death. As long as that poor soul has the spirit of rebellion and is ever seeking freedom, they are not imprisoned fully. The true slave is a person who enjoys their subservience, who is weighted with fear by the very idea of independence from the system, and who would actually fight and die to maintain the establishment which enslaves them. The true slave is not able to imagine living any other life beyond his micro-managed existence.
The Facts Lose Value: The worst flaw of the slave is not necessarily his ability to overlook the truth, but his ability to see it, comprehend it, and then shrug it off anyway because it is contrary to his mission to fulfill his private delusions. For the slave, the truth exists, but is no longer useful. Lies make his universe turn, and facts are a tool to be used or cast aside at his leisure.
The Obsession With The Law: The slave mentality, though illogical and psychotic, still requires a certain foundation to hold it together. The laws of governments tend to suffice. These laws may go completely against the force of inherent conscience, but because the slave has already abandoned listening to his inner voice of reason, this does not bother him much. If you have ever wondered why modern tyrannies always feel the need to put their horrific enforcements in writing first, THIS is why. Oligarchs understand that the law provides the slave with a means to rationalize his participation in the crimes of the state. After all, if some gut-bloated bloodthirsty elitists in government etch their mad inbred ramblings into law, then we have no choice but to follow them, right?
The Need To Be Accepted: A slave seeks harmony not within, but without, even when that “harmony” is with a system that is designed to destroy him. The viciousness of collectivism lay in its ability to comfort converts with atrocity. As long as the slave feels as though he is a part of the machine, and accepted by the group, he cares not what the machine does to others. Common arguments include; “We all have to live together, and so we must sacrifice our selfish individualism for the greater good…” or “Governments are here to protect us and we should do everything we can to make their job easier…” Rarely if ever do they question if the system is legitimately helpful or harmful. The system just “is”, it fulfills their need to be coddled, and that is good enough for them. For all their talk of "unity" and the "greater good", collectivist are for the most part deeply selfish. They do not support or participate in the collective for the sake of others. They do it to satiate their personal desires.
The Need For Control: I suppose it’s ironic, but the average slave loves tyranny because it affords him a perceived seat at the table of power, perhaps for the first time in his entire life. Collectivist slaves are often people who have felt weak and inadequate since childhood. While honorable human beings fight this personal uncertainty by strengthening themselves physically and mentally, and improving upon their own character, the slave takes the easy route by joining with bureaucracy and living vicariously through its conquests. Through the state, the hollow, cowardly, and stupid, have the ability to “show the world who’s boss”, and get revenge for a life filled with meaninglessness.
The Need For Structure: An individual takes responsibility for himself, learning over time to provide his own structure which works at his pace and serves his unique needs. A slave does not have the energy or the drive to do that, and so, he asks the establishment to tell him how he should live. He will hold at face value the word of nearly anyone in a position of petty authority. When confronted with those who go their own way, or who rebel against the cookie-cutter template for social participation, the slave sneers in disgust. Independent rebellion is abhorrent to him, because the system provides him with his very identity. To insult the fabric of the system is to insult who he is. It’s pathetic, but common…
The Need For Vindication: Sometimes it is not enough for certain people to have their own world view. The slave seeks approval for his world view at every turn, even if that world view is twisted by bleary eyed logic, and will go so far as to force others to agree with it so that they can feel safer in their beliefs. It is natural for people to seek out others with similar views and ideals, but, it is not natural or healthy for those same people to use the government apparatus as a weapon to frighten the rest of us into submission just so they can become more confident in their ludicrous slapdash philosophies. Slaves want a world without contradiction. Laughably, everything they do is a contradiction.
What I have seen in a number of the reactions to the honest activism of Sgt. Gary Stein is a knee-jerk bias that reeks of the slave mentality, but it offers us a window in gauging the leanings of the general public. Now that the once theoretical dangers of federal fascism are breaking the surface of the water and circling the American sinking ship, the great test is to watch closely where the masses place their priorities. Will they take the path of the individual, admit to the laboratory mutation that our government has become, and try to make things right again? Or, will they take the path of the slave, forget their past follies and empty arguments, and jump on the totalitarian bandwagon? Certainly, it is not as if the cheerleaders of the state usually get out of the tumult with all their limbs intact. In most cases, they are lucky to get out alive once the smoke clears. One might think that the lessons of history would be guide enough, but then again, the average slave has taken every conceivable measure to ensure that his particular fantasy land is magical enough to withstand substantial examination. The system is their drug, and the upheaval that free thought brings is such a buzz-kill…

Please explain why you believe that I have no right to state my opinion but you have a right to state yours.
Please show me where I said you don't have a right to state your opinion. That's a pure straw man argument.
So you agree that the belief that enough evidence exists to bring Zimmerman to trial is a legitimate point of view? Fine. That's all I'm saying.
Crockett, you werent there, stop acting like you were. Police took Zimmermans account, and eye witness accounts, and concluded what they did. You werent there, you are not a judge or a lawyer, stop acting like you are and that you know all the facts.
What we know for 100% certainty is this incident was HYPED 'White extremist guns down 'black child' in cold blood'....well Zimmerman is NOT white, although the media obviously thought he was due to his name, Martin is not the innocent little boy the media portrays at all, and thats MY entire point here, they all lied and hyped for their own desired news story.
Why do you continue to focus on the media hype when there is evidence available for consideration? Your desire to see this case disappear because you believe that it has been tainted by the media and your concurrent focus on nothing but over-hyped media accounts is disingenuous at best.
You can't seriously believe that free men should not discuss serious issues simply because some talking heads are trying to make a profit from those issues. If you did believe that then your conversations would be limited to what you had for dinner and whether the dog had a bowel movement this morning.
Media hype does not negate the right of those who have been injured to seek justice nor does it negate the right of individuals to discuss issues of the day.
Because the Media and its allies in the Statist parties, especially the racist wing of those parties, represent MOB Rule. This was obviously tragic for the families involved, however you slice it. But the process worked. The MOB came in and lied, deceived, and manipulated to create a crisis, and they have been stoking the flames ever since. What you are so convinced is such important and reliable evidence may or may not be such. YOU AND I simply do not know. But the local authorities were satisfied that there was insufficient evidence to charge Zimmerman with a crime. It was only after the MOB took over, executed its pure evil (hate) in a purely evil manner (deceit), that there is now a need for "further investigation."
The problem is that the Media is a large part of the MOB. They feed off one another. If you are for the MOB, you are against the Rule of Law. Period.
Do you believe that the Republican Senator who penned the "Stand Your Ground" law is a member of a liberal MOB! which is determined to undermine rule of law?
Your collectivist interpretation of the identities and motives of parties discussing this issue is seriously out of touch.
Objection, Your Honor. Not responsive.
Again, as in previous posts, what the Hell are you talking about. I could care less what the "author" of an IRRELEVANT law has to say. You don't honestly think that "Stand Your Ground" will be his defense if the MOB prevails and the State or, Heaven forbid, the Federal authorities exercise power to try to lynch him, do you?
As for self-defense, it is in the common law and no, he did not "lose his defense right then." It will be dependent on the evidence as to whether he has a defense of self-defense.
As for Peaden, it appears he is a moron and clearly should not be involved in writing laws since he clearly has no grasp of the basic concept of self-defense.
Nothing you write is in any way a valid response to my argument.
Rational discourse is rarely seen as valid through the eyes of a madman.
Crock--You are delusional. Have fun in your world.
Without seeing the police report (and supplemental reports such as interviews, evidence, etc.) you really don't know anything.
If you apply the same standard to yourself then you must admit that you "really don't know anything" either. But at least I have made an effort to research the availble facts concerning that night and have disabused myself of misconceptions which many continue to embrace in their ignorance.
Has he said that he has or hasn't examined the evidence? Or made an effert to research the facts? He has possibly examined more evidence than you. Yet you criticize others for coming to a different conclusion than you.
How is asking someone to apply the same standards to themselves which they apply to me an example of unwarranted criticism? Who here has made a reasonable case based on available evidence that Zimmerman should not be charged? If you believe that folks here have evidence to that effect then let's hear it.
"Who here has made a reasonable case based on available evidence that Zimmerman should not be charged?"
I doubt that State Attorney Norm Wolfinger posts here, but he made "the decision not to charge Zimmerman". He is in a better position than you to decide that. http://reason.com/blog/2012/04/02/the-times-keeps-shouting-stand-your-gr...
The decision not to charge Zimmerman was made before the identity of the victim, Trayvon Martin was even known. If that's not a rush to judgement, I don't know what is. We now know that Martin was not an intruder in the neighborhood but the guest of a resident and that Zimmerman's entire premise in stalking Martin was false.
In any case, Wolfinger is out of the picture and someone with a bit more grit has been called to the mound:
Sure. You know all the evidence. Nobody else has looked at anything. You're always right. Everyone is a dumbass for disagreeing with you. http://justoneminute.typepad.com/main/2012/04/trayvon-martin-is-everythi...
"The decision not to charge Zimmerman was made before the identity of the victim, Trayvon Martin was even known. If that's not a rush to judgement, I don't know what is."
And there you have it. The decision not to charge Zimmerman was made using relevant evidence. Once the "identity," and the opportunity to make political hay out of the case was discovered, all bets were off. In short, you inadvertently make the case that everything after the decision not to charge is based on race and politics--racism and hatred. You make the case for MOB rule and against the Rule of Law.
Are you familiar with that old saw from Hamlet: "Hoist with his own petard"?
Your argument completely fell apart starting with the bolded statement.
This is Muri'ca afterall.
This case should never have been a national story, it is a local issue. St. Patrick's weekend was a bloody one in Chicago. There were 50 people shot and 10 of those were killed. Among the dead was a 6 year old little girl. Where is the outrage for her death? A police officer was shot and almost died that following week. It is in Obama's home town too. Why know talk about this? The Florida case was made a national story to keep the sheep distracted from the government's continual destruction of our economy and country.
Right. People should just shut up and let Zimmerman stalk his neighbor's house guests at will. I'll bet that a lot mothers-in-law will be getting late night dinner invitations around Sanford in the future.
So everyone, everywhere should forcus all their attention on one man in a faraway Florida town, not what is going on in their own cities and neighborhoods? There were 23 murders in the past two weeks in Chicago and 117 for the year. And all you hear about that is silence. But I guess victims only matter if their killer is a different race?
Despite their 300 million guns (we have maybe 100 million private civilian guns in Continental Europe - not as many per person, but still a lot), it was noticed as far back as the 1980s that Americans are a much more beaten down, submissive, fearful people, than in Europe. You do not see the fear on people's faces here ... but you see it in the US.
They are picking off Americans one by one, family by family, destroying one after another, and Americans have no effective ability to act collectively - and indeed most Americans don't even know what is going on.
Americans mostly don't realise they have a gulag of 2.3 million+ prisoners, several hundred thousand of them innocent, while almost no one is in jail in Europe. We have about 1 out of 1000 in jail - in the US it is 1 out of 140.
One out of every 40 working-age US males is in prison RIGHT NOW. And camps ready for millions more. 25% of all the prisoners in the world. Much worse than China. And Americans stay at home, polishing their guns, doing nothing.
Many of the rest in the US think they have 'freedom' because they have some guns. - Yet it was proven in the Katrina aftermath and other incidents, that most of the Americans, despite the big talk, give up their guns to the militarised police, as soon as the jackboots are at the door asking for them.
Besides the jailings, American judges are helping rob Americans of their assets all over the place, from divorce cases to foreclosures to things like MF Global fraud - and once again most Americans not only do nothing, they mostly don't even know it is happening. It is someone else - it is the blacks - it is the Mexicans - it is internet 'conspiracy' stories - they don't know.
Americans are neither informed (most don't know we have plenty of guns in Europe, 19 million privately owned handguns, rifles and shotguns in France, for example) nor able to act collectively against their regime. There's loud personal talk about guns, but you don't have Americans in their streets shutting down their nations with general strikes, like we have here.
There's nothing wrong with owning guns - we have plenty here in Belgium -
But it seems clear to me, that the US oligarchs have used 'your gun rights' as a trick to fool the US sheeple into imagining they have freedom. During the Reagan years, they figured out that they could beat Americans down psychologically, while letting them own guns for a few decades ... they have already begun testing gun confiscation in the US, and it is working pretty well.
As with all severe fascism and oppression, the number of true resistance heroes in America is not that large. Most Americans have been submissive, and one can reasonably guess they will continue to be so. They believe what is on television and the CIA's Wikipedia.
Very true, the fear in america comes mainly from the war on drugs, the war on poverty, and the destruction of the family unit.
Sad, but true. Forced government schooling, poisoning the water, food and medicine, mass legal immigration from third world countries (who don't know what freedom is, much less care about it), has done its job on America. Soon the currency will be worthless, and it will all be over but the crying.
Can't disagree with much you say about Americans...but come on. Yes Europeans are better informed, and yes they are more prone to demonstrating and rioting in the streets-- but in defense of what? The only thing that gets Europeans in the street is when the government threatens their welfare benefits.
Not exactly the sign of a free and independent people.
I agree with you completely Buckaroo. Bank guy has reminded me that I need to clean my guns. I am moving away from the coast as soon as I can because of what happened in New Orleans. A couple more years to go then my wife retires, then I'll move. How to get the most I can out of the system before I leave it behind is my problem and I suspect others have the same problem. I still have to eat and need a place to live. They will have to find a different excuse than a hurricane to disarm me.
"The Fear of Freedom, as it is known in Britain and elsewhere in the English-speaking world – published in North America as Escape from Freedom – is a book by the Frankfurt-born psychologist and social theorist Erich Fromm."
"...the book explores over a few short chapters humanity's shifting relationship with freedom, with particular regard to the personal consequences of its absence. Its special emphasis is the psychosocial conditions that facilitated the rise of Nazism."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fear_of_Freedom
Great post!
Most gun owners in the US are docile morons who will never go as far as actually using them for any cause. They are collectible toys for morons.
The great masses with guns will gladly sit at home and behave, not forment revolution. Each passing case of some outrageous act by the government/media/bankers indoctrinates the masses to shut up and take it (besides, they don't want to miss American Idol or what passes for a young woman from New Jersey).
Pisses me off but I can't disagree.
And especially spot on about the gun rights issue being such an effective and distracting wedge. There will never be large-scale confiscation, as such an action would actually galvanize people to stop polishing and starting shooting.
So wtf to do? Just watch this all unfold? Go crazy and be just another prisoner in the gulag? Help "educate" others?
Unfortunately you are right on target.
I respect your points and believe with all the ABC agencies we are already living a soft tyranny. IMO, the main reasons why we are running behind Europe in riots is 1) we have the reserve currency and 2) many are still employed by said agencies and are actually enjoying the game because they profit from it. In must cases, to a much greater degree than the private sector. Our turn is coming, we're just going to be the last to the party due to the fed.
You hit the nail on the head. Crime, pernal system are virtually non-existent in europe. i am American but have spent several stinits in Europe. Aside from a failed pick pocket attempt in a touristy part of Barcelona, there seems to be no crime in Europe. I'm really not exaggerating. I live in lower middle class town outside of new york city where I have lived virtually my whole life and there are places I wouldn't want to be. I have NEVER seen such places in all of continental Europe. There was not even a single part of Sweden (admittedly I was only there for 3 months) that I felt could have problems of the sort I see everyday in America (guns, drugs, housing project mentality). I have two degrees from an Ivy League school (I don't do shit with them though) and I also have quite a few friends that have been to jail. My European friends can't relate. Lionizing/partaking in/obsessing over crime culture is decidedly American and its hard to quantify how this damages our insane society. I think the laws in America are a little ridiculous.......21 to legally have a beer? Marijuana? America is too litigious.
EuroBanker--I sure hope that you are not part of the financial crisis over there in the Old Country. Your moniker makes me wonder?
Which then makes me wonder about your perspective. The arrogant Old Country folks have never much wanted to give the upstarts from across the pond their due, and have spent several hundred years belittling their American kin. This became habit by the early 1800s.
Fortunately, for the Old Countries, the American kin came back across the pond to bail out "the Allies" against "the Hun" and then again against "the Nazi menace." Good thing, too, for Belgian bankers. There are plenty of American boys buried over there, and, now that its been a couple of generations since my dad died for your dad, I guess it's good to go back to Yank bashing--at least until we are needed to save civilization once again.
The U.S. has 1000 problems, and you actually hit on some of them. But the 2nd Amendment is not one of them. Trust me on that one. And no oligarch has tricked gun owners into anything. Preserving 2nd Amendment freedoms is simply an American need based on American history and common sense. I would think that those who have been saved by the skills and courage of American gun owners going back to 1917 would be a little more responsibble in their grasp of the matter.
well reasoned, and argued, bank guy, as are most of your posts, thanks for bringing the thread back to the OP points.
fully agree with this - owning guns, discussing them lovingly in numerical *math* terms, bragging on how many and how big they are, etc. - this is what passes for resistance nowadays - not everyone who owns guns behaves this way, but gun porn is pretty prevalent in these threads, and it's a form of male bonding as much as sex porn memes are - neither require any experience or awareness of anything beyond one's couch.
regarding some points in the OP, I'll list the highlighted words used:
The True Slave
Facts Lose Value
The Obsession with the Law
The Need for Control
The Need for Structure
The Need for Vindication
BSmith uses these categories to describe a "slave mentality" whilst simultaneously defending a Marine who wants to use a Facebook page for his Tea Party.
every one of those categories describe a person who willingly volunteers to engage in wars against people in other nationstates, a person who believes what they're told about "those other people" and willingly enters "those other people's HOMES" with guns and military hardware, invades those other people's sovereign space on behalf of whoever tells them to, with whatever bullshit story they are told to justify their actions - people who VOLUNTEER to be armed against other humans, to kill other people's families, poison their homes and land, ON BEHALF OF a story NONE of them are smart enough to understand, apparently.
talk about "severe fascism and oppression". . . and submission. . .who's the slave Brandon?
Yes, our forefathers who wrote the Consitution. They were smart enough to be in power and own the military.
Oh, and everyone had a gun.
How much artillery have you got ?
Thought so.
The popupation in Iraq was armed the whole time under Saddam.
Questions ?
DRYDEN - Are you really going to give them artillery, sir?
BRIGHTON - I was wondering that, sir. It might be deuced difficult to get it back again.
DRYDEN - Give them artillery and you've made them independent.
ALLENBY - Then, I can't give them artillery, can I?
DRYDEN - For you to say, sir.
ALLENBY - No, it's not. I've got orders to obey, thank God. Not like that poor devil. He's riding the whirlwind.
DRYDEN - Let's hope we're not.
Most Americans are idiots! They have no clue what is going on around them past what they're fed via the teevee.
Great picture, just exchange Hitler's head for a random politician of our days...
And that is why the sheeple ignore your warnings: because you act like ignorant loons and discredit yourselves within milliseconds of opening your mouth.
No, the sheeple don't care(listen) because they're still profiting from the system and are still buying the illusion of freedom.
well it's what you get with BRA lmfao! black run america ;)
I bet you can't dunk.
That's a joke of course, given that BO answers to the banks, as do all the Republicans and Democrats.
well it's what you get with BRA lmfao! black run america ;)
well it's what you get with BRA lmfao! bank run america ;)
There, fixed it for you.
Yea of course Obama doesnt run a damn thing, all a puppet show, and even the ones who supposedly get it still watch the puppet show.
All it needs is the right set of sociopolitical circumstances and a weak enough will, and the shadows in the hearts of lesser men are given license to come out and play.
Excellent point within an excellent article. And, I would suggest, "the right set of socio political circumstances" do not arise by chance...they are and have been engineered for many decades by those that would have themselves and their proteges as the masters of the slaves.
Speaking of the Sheeple has anyone seen that Southpark episode about 9-11 with Bush et al citing the Sheeple. Phkn classic episode. Its onyl recently Ive noticed how great those guys are at inserting all these topics in their episodes. How about the one with Jesus and the "Economy". Stan tries to return a margarita maker everything goes haywire. He's carrying it around when he reaches the Treasury, only to find their methods of determining who gets America's money and why to be more than unorthodox.
The sheep look up.
Are humans ants/bees , in need of a queen and a very regimented life ? Or are they eagles to be left to their own devices to soar in the skies ?
Apparently so, theyll defend their ridiculous Queen today, England, USA Canda Australia all owned by the Queen whether you admit it or not, how are we any different than bees who live only to defend their queen and totaly regimented lives. Hard to see any difference at all.
It's difficult to soar like an eagle when you are surrounded by turkeys....
I may agree with all that he has to say but as a former active duty Marine here is my take: He has every right to say it as a citizen but not the right to say it as a Marine. Therefore, he will probably be kicked out of the Corps and will be able to continue publishing his opinions as a civilian. So, he has not lost his rights to speak out. Semper Fi!
Yea we wonder why the military doesnt stand up to an illegal commander in chief's orders, yet when they do, we say hes not allowed to.
He can stand against illegal orders but it is those above him that need to stand with him. If anybody here thinks that standing up for what is right will always be easy or painless then you need to take the other color pill because you are in for a surprise.
The absurdity for me is an E-6 standing up for the constitution wihle the Admirals and Generals won't say shit about the unconstitutional laws being passed by politcians who've sworn an oath, the same as their's, to uphold the constitution. How do they sleep at night knowing their whole existence is a lie? What is the sense of swearing in new officers when it is completely obvious the oath has no meaning? Just hand them the fucking rank and tell them not to buck the system. All laws are relative to whatever the current group in power says they are.
The reason that admirals and generals became admirals and generals in the first place is their finely nuanced political skills.
Don't look for any help from them.
The Admirals and Generals are who they are because they have one thing in common..the expansion of the military industrial complex. The constitution be damned.
This is true.
but its not just generals. Chief Warrant Officers as well, they lose their conscience around CWO2 - CWO3
Agree. It makes me wonder if Brandon Smith has served in the military.
Agreed XitSam. We were thoroughly briefed on making political statements. Two facts many here fail to realize. The military is NOT a democracy. It is a VOLUNTEER military and therefore members volunteered to abide by the rules and regulations. Not making public political statements is one of those regulations members volunteer to follow. If they no longer want to follow the regulations then they can exit the military and make as many statements as they want. Now, I totally sympathize with his sentiments and perhaps he was not given good advice by his seniors but if the military wants to prosecute by CM or office hours then they probably have a case. I think there are some here that would love to have their cake and eat it too - something akin to agreeing to a bank loan for a house when you know you can't afford it and then blaming the banks for giving you that loan. Personal responsibility folks; that is what it is called.
Edit: Bring on the excoriation.
when the people who volunteer to fight within the military-industrial-complex begin to understand fully who they work for, on behalf of, who pays their wages and benefits, who demands their loyalty and obedience. . .
then another individual awakens in the machine.
I agree with you though, when you volunteer to work for them, you sign a contract and as an employee, they have your agreement to fight on their behalf - not yours, THEIRS. if you don't agree, then quit your job, stop drawing your wages and benefits, stop trying to be "respected" for your uni-form and rank and weaponry - get back in with the people, and speak from there.
but please. . . Facebook????
Not sure why you have so many junks unless people don't understand that as an active duty personal you are subject to more rules than a civilian is (UCMJ) . As a vet myself I read this as an informed take on the current rules/ laws that govern active duty personal. I don't think its right but when you join the military you surrender many rights that you are sworn to protect.
From a legal standpoint I think he will get booted also (or worse) I admire his stance and I would love to see the laws changed but I think we all know that wont happen

Goner- "unless people don't understand that as an active duty personal you are subject to more rules than a civilian is (UCMJ)". My guess is that you are exactly correct with this statement.

Really? Yea Haw. I'mma gonna get me some normalcy some normalcy some normalcy. Yea Haa I'mma gonna find someone with some normalcy some normalcy some normalcy. Then I'm gon to ask them if I can have some too.
Just head to the Apple store, all the sheeple are there buying more 'normalcy' you know you got to have your iPad or youre not a normal person.
The underclass may appear to be better armed..but they are completely undisciplined and incapable of even agreeing on who the object of their murderous rage should be. Their personal armouries are simply a soother proferred to them to ease the anxiety of the removal from their mouths of the entitlement teat.
if you think about it,
you may realise working as intended. . .
Of course it must come, for everyone must be tested. The tyranny will increase until every individual is forced to choose between the promptings of conscisnce and the dictates of material survival.
A prediction: The Barack Obama leftwing collectivism will be overthrown, and a right-wing tyranny will be initially hailed as the new dawn of freedom. As much as i welcome the overthrow of Barry Soetoro, i cannot entertain any illusions that his removal wil bring back any semblance of freedom.
That is exactly right because a slave will follow a communist or a nazi. It doesn't matter to them who is in charge.
Quick question for the metal-heads out there among us. Srry to jack the thread.
What is the reason that the market requires an average 8.5% premium for ASE's and the only an average 3.5% premium for AGE's? What forces the huge spread between the two markets?

That was an interesting article. I have to question why it took him 45 years to write it. I seem to remember from other articles and books that most people in Germany and to a lesser extent all of europe were starving. Many people died from starvation and disease wether they were a prisoner or not. This is the aftermath of war no matter who causes it or who wins.
Maybe for the same reason it takes 60 years for so called Holocaust survivors to come out with their stories
'need to maintain their normalcy'
There is a cultural difference between ole Germany and this here US. In the US some do not have the ability to take anything serious.
Here hunger gives rise to lack of willingness to live instead of a desire to search for food.
"We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality" Yes, the reality now is American freedom is slavery. Every American is a slave to the Patriot Act, manipulated markets, captured politicians, toxic food, toxic water, highest prison population on the planet while we sing "Home of the Brave, Land of the Free." No wonder we are so anxious to spread our democracy and freedom to all the world using the gun and the drone.
Try thinking of it like this: Bernanke knows that he is destroying the dollar. He is a very smart man. That is his intention. He knows that he is destroying our nation and impoverishing our people. He knows that what he is telling those college students is not true. But by giving them the wrong information he is making it possible for the next generation of central bankers to perpetuate the deception. The deception is that central banks serve our interests. The truth is not that. Their purpose is to enrich the owners of central banks at the expense of everyone else. They care nothing about you and me. They would gladly kill us and sell our skin for a profit and would feel no remorse. Bernanke knows this. Most politicians, president and members of Congress, know little or nothing about economics, and they believe Bernanke is telling the truth, and they trust him. They don't know any better. They are ignorant. What they are good at is getting elected and re-elected. That is the primary area of their expertise. They don't have to know anything about economics to get elected or re-elected, because the public also don't know anything about economics. They are just sheep happy to get sheared. Bernanke knows this. Greenspan has always known it. Such men are wolves. Our people, the sheep, are so ignorant and gullible that the wolves don't even have to be careful about seeming not to be wolves. They can just perform their grizzly deceits openly and no one will do anything about it. They all know this.
Because once you reject the truth ALL that is left for you is the LIE!
When I tell people about all the laws (NDAA & NDRP etc) that have been passed, they look at me like I'm crazy. I'm not sure if they don't know, don't care, don't think it will affect them, support them, or what. Most are thoroughly on board with this 'war on terror'. And IQ has nothing to do with it. Mostly they want to keep what they've got and if they work for the govt or get a govt check, they don't care about anything else. They will be Obama's willing executioners.
It really is a war of consciousness. The original programming that American received has been replaced with the programming of a slave. You can't force people to reprogram themselves even if you expose them to new information. It has to come from within.
What bugs me even more is when I have those conversations with people and they respond "well I'm sure the government wouldn't do it if it wasn't necessary". That used to drive me insane. Now I just shake my head and silently prep away.
Down with the hive mind. Big Brother = Hive Mind. I work in the public schools. Not too long ago I overheard a social studies teacher ridiculing a student for questioning the authenticy of Barack Obama's birth certificate. There was no addressing the underlying concerns. Just ad hominem and appeal to authority. This is why Obama wants to extend the school day till 5 PM. We're programming the kids so there won't be any need for overt control later on.
given that the majority use "skool" as a form of babysitter, and outside of skool-hours, if one is working 9-5, requires paid childcare when monies available dwindle in purchasing power - extending skool hours will make sense to the majority.
I have seen the same. But, I am also, just now, beginning to see a spark of recognition in many people. There is hope yet. This disaster is a long way from manifesting itself entirely.
Most of the people I know have never had to nor want to think for themselves. That is how we got into this situation. Unfortunately we will Continue to slide down this slippery slope. The shackles of slavery will get tighter and the independent thinker will be weeded out, hunted down and removed from the animal farm.

stay free, BiCheZ!
We have a society of wimps (slaves) that cannot stand the weight of personal responsibility. It has been bred as well as educated out of us. This article is spot on. We were given freedom in this country that the world had never seen. With that freedom comes the responsibility to govern it......personally. Men will be ruled by conscience or by a gun. When we turn our backs on right and responsibility, government will pick up where we left off and force upon us that duty or responsibility. Once we have started down that road, it is only a matter of time until the gov is full of those who decide we cannot handle any decision making or very little responsibility. By then the country is full of masses who don't want to make decisions or take any hard responsibility and both the populace and the gov begin to feed on one another until we have some form of totalitarian gov.
The battle for the soul of this country is heating up once again. It was lost in 1865 and it will be lost again for we are vastly outnumbered. This time we will lose even more freedom. Not saying we will have an allout civil war, but whatever form the "fight" takes we are doomed as a group to lose. When 1 in 100 or 1,000 desires to live free, he/she cannot out "vote" the majority who would rather be rulled by an "expert". Obama is a guaranteed win in the election, but it really doesn't matter. The system is now in place and is self perpetuating. Every year we are flooded by another graduating class of people who just want to make some money so they can play larger than their parents did and are glad to give up whatever freedoms so they can go play.
Slaves never fight for freedom, they only fight to maitain the oppression. People are designed to depend on someone and when you do away with a personable God all that is left is Obama. Slaves depend on Obama for their "inalienable" rights. The question then becomes: "What is the line of freedom I will not allow to be crossed in my life?" They take the efforts of my labor. They have stolen the very property I own through property tax. They force me to buy insurance to fund their empire. They squander my 'savings' that they take by force. They endenture my children to their banks. Every year they require more. They surpress my outrage and threaten my freedom. They ignore my contract with them. They force me to fund things I am totally against. They allow foreign slaves to compete for my resources while at the same time tilting the advantage to the outsiders. They rob me to give to dead beats that will vote for them and keep them in power. And I am sure many of us could go on and on. Where is the line? When will it be crossed and how many will have the same line. I have mine which I will not list here. Do you have any or are you just another slave?
I have mine which I will not list here.
I also have mine.
Wow .. and here I thought this article was going to talk about some REAL erosions of freedom. But instead I get a defense of someone who violated a long-standing rule (one wonders if the author came to such vigorous defense of those in a similar situation between 2002 and 2008, most likely NOT) that one agrees to abide by as a considion of service.
Cry me a river. If you join the military you give up certain rights for good reason. Anyone who doesn't "get" the reason(s) is in no position to lecture others about much of anything.
Well smartboy, why don't you educate us dummies and tell us the "reason(s)". Because the man putting his life on the line for the very rights you get would be stupid to give them up. Why take the risk? And when is the last time someone in uniform fought for MY rights? The biggest enemy of my rights for the last 50 years has been my own government. Not the Asians, the Arabs, or the Persians. Certainly not the Bosnians or the Haitians You and your ilk are the ones we need to be watching.
If you truly believe that the wars in Iraq and Afganistan where/are to protect our rights or freedom, you have a condition requiring medication.
Agreed: "The biggest enemy of my rights for the last 50 years has been my own government." 1/2 of a green vector arrow for you.
indeed, there is dissonance when one can both defend the government's armed military, AND decry the wars they kill other humans on behalf of same gov.
Youre wrong there sheepie boy, military members have no requirement to obey unlawful orders at all!
Jesus is the light of truth from where all truth becomes clear. Anything else is man-made and flawed, but worth the effort, nonetheless, if done through the Spirit. And yes, the truth will set you free.
Jesus too is a man-made construct to keep people in line and, more importantly, to keep the collection plate full.
The slave mentality can be observed in the majority of comments on the Internet as people make jest of police brutality and the TSA groping children. Dignity is extinct.

It is very hard to get people to actually think about their situation. As long as they can eat, have shelter, and can get to their place to work they are happy. You will not get through to them most of the time. When discussing some issues with friends there are topics I just do not discuss anymore. I am wasting my breath and if I follow this historically there will come a place in time when your neighbors and some you thought were your friends will turn you in as an enemy of the state. I think we are headed down this road with these new executive orders.
The government and the media play on people's value systems and mindfuck them into believing they are looking out for their welfare. Just look at some of the comments that will be left here today. To actually think critically you have to cast off the indoctrination and well for me it took alot of time and I still at times wonder if I am not the nut case. Have you ever wondered that yourself? We debate and attack one another just over a stinking political party whose message may be different but they are one and the same in the end. People actually think they make choices but come on we are offered what two choices in this country for the president, what a scam.
The government's greatest weapon is playing to people's greed. We are some greedy jerks and will do almost anything for a buck. We will blame someone else for our problems when the root of the problem is right there on TV. Financial matters are alien to most people in the world. I know I thought the same way they did. Give your money to a money manager and they will get you enough money to retire with comfortably. Boy was I a sucker and stupid ass. Now look at that on a massive scale.
I am doing what I can now to get ahead and game this fucked up system to try and make a buck so I can retire. Fuck it and do the best you can to do the same. There is a reason I come here and to several other sites. Alot of folks here are like minded and see the theft going on and they wade through the bullshit and post it like it is. The Tylers do that as well.. All a person can do is tell people the truth and slowly but surely they are going to take that right away from us. Plan accordingly.
Sorry for the long post, maybe I am nuts!
Natural Freedom is being taken away. Freedom to think, to enjoy nature, to learn from life and to fulfill our purpose is being slowly taken away and replaced by a lead role in a cage.
Control of nature is the plan. Nature is on its own course, but they are trying to control it and change the path for their own selfish and crazy ideologies. They will take all the land and the ability of people to enjoy the natural resources created by the earth, the sun, the air and water. They want to control all of it including you. Why do you keep pets and try to control them for your own enjoyment while you take their freedom away? We are the same thing, but on a different scale. We are a massive colony of pets for the owners. We are going against the grain of life’s evolution and will suffer for not respecting the course and path of nature.
The pet-owner relationship is symbiotic not oppressive. If cats don't want to live in my house then why do they show up in droves on my back porch and run inside when I open the door?
True, but those are usually domesticated cats looking for handouts. They never signed up to live with you and be controlled. That is a forced symbiosis similar to what we have today in society. If you took away government intervention and the handouts, people of today's society would for the most part not survive and beg for big government to take care of them and put them back in the cage. Remember the old saying “live free or die”? Most people don’t want to live in the real world. They want someone to take care of them. We are to blame just as much as those who control us.
The land of the free and home of the brave is enabled by the land of lazy and the home of the complacent and/or needy. Those who want to pursue “the real world”, get the shackles put on because they are being treated like the leaches and the needy. We are treated like a bunch of two year olds. Look at how the media treats people, the HR departments of big corporations treat people, the big corporate customer service departments treat people. They treat everyone like you would treat your two year old or your pet. They continuously want to keep you pacified and keep your from complaining while they control your world. Sometimes they let you play, but keep you on a short leash. That’s it.
Wild cats that know how to live on their own and expand their natural symbiosis with the world don't come to your back porch unless they smell food. There are cats that go out and hunt all day and want nothing to do with living with people.
Are we ready to call our own shots and live without the intervention of the government? That is question number one before we go too much off on a tangent complaining about what the government does to us. We enable the government. Most are oblivious as to how we are just as responsible as those who run the show.
It is pretty clear that we have been in a civil war over debt slavery to the welfare state for a couple decades. It doesn't even matter who is in power now, because to get the budget near balance, Congress would have to cut at least a $Trillion per year from the budget, causing massive layoffs and a huge drop in GDP. That isn't to say this must not be done, because welfare state spending is a false GDP, but just that the cuts won't be done for fear of riots. So the only way back from the abyss (austerity and a return to market signals) guarantees conflist (see Greece and Spain).
The federal Reserve now papers over 40% in tax revenue shortfalls and has created a biflationary depression of deflating wages and home prices along with the inflation of food, fuel and commodities. http://www.futurnamics.com/biflation.php Of course this situation is intolerable long term, no matter how much Monopoly money Helicopter Ben distributes, just as bread and circuses did nothing for the Romans.
We may be legally obligated to pay taxes to support the welfare state, but our children are not morally obligated to be the slaves of their spendthrift elders. Hence revolt is inevitable. Obama and progressives have been running a subliminal civil war to overthrow the Constitution and preserve their model of Eurosocialism. They use proxy armies of SEIU union brownshirts, OWS anarchists, illegal aliens, and race baiters like the flies surrounding the Trayvon Martin debacle. But in the end, this civil war is unlike CWI because the territory to be held has shifted to the Internet which is not so easily taken (see ZeroHedge for freedom). This isn't your great-great-grandaddy's civil war, but it is still over debt slavery to the welfare state. http://www.futurnamics.com/civilwar.php
I doubt it has anyting to do with Obama or Eurosocialism. It has been going on way longer than Obama has even been around! We've reached a tipping point in government growth, the same as Greece, the same as all of Euroland, but it was not arrived at by any conscious effort, other than the normal trend of governemnt growth. Unions try to add to their ranks in order to increase their power. Government grows for the same reason--because it is the easy route to take. But you nailed the problem--we've hit the point where you can't tax people enough to sustain it all, so instead, we aren't doing that, we're monetizing deficits, which is just a hidden form of taxation using inflation or biflation. But I don't see this as some kind of civil war--unless it's like the resistance against Skynet. Humans are not necessarily in control of the machine anymore. And to break the machine now, there will be a human toll (as you have clearly called out). To solve our problems, someone has to become the bagholder--the machine has a mechanism to protect itself from any deviation. One way or another, we're going to have to face reality and eat the shit sandwich or we're all dead.
well, if THIS is true for you,
then take heart - you can vote for the other team in a few months, and all will go back to normal freedumb USA.
Bad choice of photograph. Hitler Youth had purpose after a long period of Uncertainty and Humiliation in Germany 1918-1933 when Government had turned soldiers loose on the population (Freikorps), Communists had staged armed uprisings, France and Belgium had invaded (1923), and small businesses went bust while financiers made fortunes.........hard to say they are "Slaves". Most of them felt they had control of their destiny for the first time in their lives and a reviving economy......at the same time the USA still had Depression and a deflationary economic policy. You might be Pavlovian thinking pictures of the Austrian dictator instigate backflips but he was a politician....better than some, worse than others....
One problem: "I will obey the orders of the President, and the officers appointed over me." Plenty of room for disinformation and interpreted constitutional meanings...
Mr. Brandon Smith must have read my posts.
slave = self-blinded conformist
I used to write pieces like this one, but my focus was on privacy and why people don't value it. Then I went away from it for awhile because I had children and started to need to focus on work. Coming back to it these days, I can see that I had a developed an extreme bias or sensitivity to the issue and that looking at it now, I'm a little bit embarrassed to have leveled a lot of the criticisms towards others who didn't necessarily share my extremism.
You're calling out others as slaves. The thing is, we all need to live in a civilization because otherwise we live as savages. In many ways, we need the status quo because it keeps us from having to worry about things like security and where our next meal is coming from. Our society is complex, and we rely on certain institutions to be there for us. The problem is that some of these institutions have gotten a bit full of themselves and pushed their limits quite a bit too far. They need to be reined in, but now? Damned if I know. I've been an activist off and on for over a decade now and all that I can see is that we've slipped even more towards a system that might end up murdering us.
Institutions which predicate their actions on a monopoly of the use of force can not be considered to be civilized.
I guess we are different opinions about what "civilized" means. Living with a dildo(named "The State") up your asshole and enjoying it, i can hardly call "civilized"

I might be too oldfashioned, but it still troubles me when for propaganda purposes the vocabulary is "adapted" in a 1984 (the book) fashion.
A slave - there are some thirty millons of them globally - cannot leave and is forced to work for the master
A serf - a milder form of oppression - would be the more appropriate term. Still not exact - a serf cannot leave by threath of prison or death, but better...
I think you are a little bit academic. What you are saying is good for a college class. However, speaking to the masses, Slave is quite a good word that hopefully makes people use their brains.
eh, +1
well, I for one agree with you - it's good to define the words we continue to use without thought, as language has elements of mind capture built in.
if everyone continues to use words, particularly as labels for "others" then they need to be able to define those words when challenged - amrkns have devolved language between themselves - text speak 4 U? - and this points to a dumbing down in conceptual thinking - working as intended! all media and gov need do is use these "words" and peeps be noddin'
plus many, Ghordius.

You are nuts! Belgians are totally brainwashed socialist slaves who believe Von Rumpoy and all the EU elitists liars. In short, Belgians are precisely the slaves that Mr. Smith is talking about. Belgians think that guns are barbaric, i'll bet only a minute proportion of these "european guns" are domiciled in Belgium. They are happy being slaves, especially if Belgium can steal more freedom from the rest of Europe. Just look at Italy and Greece with Monti and Papademos being imposed on the people by.... All the slaves in the lowland region known as Belgium!

"We have to set aside the pointless legalese of defense standards in the case of Sgt. Stein and ask ourselves an important question; do U.S. troops have a right to free speech?
If you believe so, then their rights are not limited or exclusive. "
- Facts are facts:
1) First Amendment rights are granted to the citizens of any/all of the several states who have ratified the Constitution for the united States of America.
2) Participation in the US military is 100% voluntary- and the oath you voluntarily swear is to defend the Constitution. No US Military volunteer EVER swears that they will follow every order, however ridiculous...
3) No one can coerce you to abrogate your freedom as a matter of administrative policy (this is the legal smokescreen that "they" are trying to hide Sgt Stein behind. YOU have to surrender your rights (and yes, "they" can definitely turn the pressure up high enough that you simply choose to surrender willfully)
When he joined the military, he did not cease being an individual- he was merely "asked" politely to conduct himself as a member of a collective known as the United States Marine Corps- but in the pursuit of conduct, he never surrendered his First Amendment rights.
So, the question "do U.S. troops have a right to free speech?" is moot via ipso facto.
I think that by our failure to recognize that the American people, by their consent to a form of government contrary to the form of government founded by the US Constitution 1789, we fail to realize that we've waived our constitutional protected Rights.
The political structure of the form of government instituted 1789:
The States of the Union created the US.
The State Legislatures appoint US Senators. (Article I, Section 3.)
The State Legislatures appoint members to the Electoral College who vote for US Presidential Candidates. (Article II, Section 1.)
The people of the States elect US Representatives in State elections. (Article I, Section 2.), (Article I, Section 4)
The political structure of the form of government instituted 1868:
The people vote for US President, US Senators, and US Representatives in National elections. (Articles of Amendment XIV, XV, and XVII)
To which form of government do you consent and participate?
Beginning to see the governmental problem in America?
Wake up America.
", ...Governments are instituted among Men, ...from the CONSENT of the governed, ..."
I must say, Stewart Rhodes and Oath Keepers seem to fail here as well. By their rejecting and contempt with regard to the idea that the American people consent to a anti-republican anti-federal form of government as a result of the political system instituted beginning in 1868 with the 14th Amendment.
The Constitution's preamble is not law.
