Here Comes FIATtackWatch: Ben "Big Brother" Bernanke Goes Watergate, Prepares To Eavesdrop On Everything Mentioning The Fed

Tyler Durden's picture

Two weeks ago, the media's heart went aflutter when it learned that the president had borrowed a page right out of ole' Joe McCarthy's communist witch hunt book with the launch of Attack Watch. The response by everyone, even fans of Obama, was immediate and brutal. Yet where Obama took about 24 hours to crash and burn, someone else has stepped in with a far stealthier method of ferreting out the traitors amongst us: none other than our old friends, the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States, which in a Request for Proposals filed to companies that are Fed vendors, is requesting the creation of a "Social Listening Platform" whose function is to "gather data from various social media outlets and news sources." It will "monitor billions of conversations and generate text analytics based on predefined criteria." The Fed's desired product should be able to "determine the sentiment [ED:LOL] of a speaker or writer with respect to some topic or document"... "The solution must be able to gather data from the primary social media platforms – Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Forums and YouTube. It should also be able to aggregate data from various media outlets such as: CNN, WSJ, Factiva etc." Most importantly, the "Listening Platform" should be able to "Handle crisis situations, Continuously monitor conversations, and Identify and reach out to key bloggers and influencers." Said otherwise, the Fed has just entered the counterespionage era and will be monitoring everything written about it anywhere in the world. After all, why ask others to snitch for you and anger everyone as Obama found out the hard way, when you can pay others to create the supreme FIATtack WatchTM using money you yourself can print in unlimited amounts. And once the Internet is completely "transparent", the Fed will next focus on telephone conversations, and finally will simply bug each and every otherwise "private" location in the world. Because very soon saying that "printing money is treason" will be treason, and such terrorist thoughts must be pre-crimed before they even occur.

All we can say is we welcome our new Chairsatan Voldemort overlord. For it is truly he who must not be named henceforth.

From the key section of the RFP, presented in its entirety below:

The sad part is that 99% of all the lemmings already think that this crisis is caused by the media....

so they welcome the sensoring machine and think it will all go away....

So sad that instead of doing something about the problem they go communist style media blackout and sensoring....

It won't work. I hope.

Come on, The Federal Reserve and IRS, which are both privately-owned, foreign corporations have been doing the above data sweeps with the help of NSA for a long time, because these 2 corporations are the core of the social, political and economical system in the United States.

They've admitted to doing it now, though, which means there's no going back - military draft is next to cleanse the system of the opposition and ensure its survival.

Tough luck, USA.

P.S. I often wonder how the United States Republic truly was before WW I, and find myself thinking: it's dead, Jim, better not think about it.

Just like with those DHS videos, where they want everyone to rat on everyone else. The easiest way to protect people from that would be for everyone to send as many snitch tips as they could think of at the exact same time and as often as they could. It's only scary if you're a wimp.

Nobody said you get to be free just because you want it- you have to fight to maintain the right to freedom.  You may be worried, but I am not.  This represents a leveling of the playing field in many respects- where before, you had bumper stickers and cardboard signs to make your views known, while they had TV and radio, you now have the means and ability to craft and disseminate arguments and propiganda of your own for the cost of an ISP fee.

So stop whining, and get back to work.  They're not going to arrest you, they're declaring an argument- if you've waited this long, you're already behind the curve, so get to it.

If you want the world to change, then fucking change it.  Don't wait for a savior- he ain't coming.

The RSHA, or Reichssicherheitshauptamt (Reich Main Security Office[2] or Reich Security Main Office[3] or Reich Security Head Office[4]) was an organization subordinate to Heinrich Himmler in his dual capacities as Chef der Deutschen Polizei (Chief of German Police) and Reichsführer-SS. The organization's stated duty was to fight all "enemies of the Reich" inside and outside the borders of Nazi Germany.

[edit] Formation

The RSHA was created by Reichsführer-SS Himmler on 27 September 1939 through the merger of the SS intelligence service the Sicherheitsdienst (SD) or Security Service, and the Sicherheitspolizei (SiPo) or Security Police which were nominally under the Interior Ministry. The SiPo was composed of the Geheime Staatspolizei (Gestapo, Secret State Police) and the Kriminalpolizei (Kripo, Criminal Police).[5]

The first chief of the RSHA was SS-Obergruppenführer and General of Police Reinhard Heydrich until he was assassinated in 1942 (following a British-backed Czech operation). Following Heydrich's assassination, Himmler personally took over as acting chief of the RSHA, but in January 1943 delegated the office to SS-Obergruppenführer and General of Police Dr. Ernst Kaltenbrunner, who served as the head of the RSHA for the remainder of World War II.[6] The RSHA acronym for its director was 'CSSD': Chef der Sicherheitspolizei und des SD (English: Chief of the Security Police and of the Security Service).[5]

The organization controlled the security service apparatus for the Reich and the Nazi Party. Its activities included intelligence-gathering, criminal investigation, overseeing foreigners, monitoring public opinion and Nazi indoctrination. Its stated duty was to find and eliminate the "enemies" of the Third Reich.[7] However, included within the list of "enemies" were Jews, Romani people, the "racially undesirable" as well as Communists, Freemasons, pacifists and Christian activists.

The RSHA also oversaw the Einsatzgruppen death squads that followed the invasion forces of the Wehrmacht Heer (German Army) into Eastern Europe. In its role as the nation's and NSDAP's security service, the RSHA coordinated activities among a number of different agencies that had wide-ranging responsibilities within Third Reich.

The RSHA was oftentimes abbreviated when part of correspondence as "RSi-H" so there would be no confusion with the SS department of RuSHA or SS-Rasse- und Siedlungshauptamt (SS Race and Settlement Office).[5]

[edit] Organization

According to British author, Gerald Reitlinger, the RSHA 'became a typical overblown bureaucracy... The complexity of RSHA was unequalled... with at least a hundred sub-sub sections'.[8]

The organization at its simplest was divided into seven offices (German: Ämter)[9]:

  • Amt II, Administration, Law, and Finance, headed by SS-Standartenführer Dr. Hans Nockemann.
  • Amt III, Inland-SD, headed by SS-Gruppenführer Otto Ohlendorf, was the SS information gathering service for inside Germany. It also dealt with ethnic Germans outside of Germany's prewar borders, and matters of culture.
  • Amt VII, Written Records, overseen by SS-Brigadeführer Professor Dr. Franz Six and later by SS-Obersturmbannführer Paul Dittel. It was responsible for "ideological" tasks. These included the creation of anti-semitic, anti-masonic propaganda, the sounding of public opinion and monitoring of Nazi indoctrination by the public.

Amt IV, the Gestapo, and Amt V, the Kripo, together constituted the Sicherheitspolizei (Security Police) or SiPo. It was the SiPo that did most of the work in rounding up Jews, Romani People and other people deemed to be enemies of the Reich and deporting them to the concentration and extermination camps in German Occupied Poland and Ukraine.

The RSHA also supplied security forces on an "as needed" basis to local SS and Police Leaders. After the escape of prisoners from Stalag Luft III in March 1944, for example, it was RSHA personnel who facilitated the "Stalag Luft III murders".

During the earlier part of the fighting in the Soviet Union, the RSHA also had operational control of certain Waffen-SS units which Himmler had withheld from the Army High Command (OKH); these units, the 1st and 2nd SS Infantry Brigades and the SS Cavalry Brigade, were formed from former Standarten of the Totenkopfverbände or concentration camp service. Their role was not to serve in combat, except in emergencies, but to carry out "police and security operations" in occupied territories like the Einsatzgruppen.

If Bernanke didn't know about Zero Hedge, he will now.

The income tax is unconstitional because it is not apportioned.  Taxes must not be paid on necessities; this is what our founding fathers wrote.  Taxes must be a choice.  If I don't want to buy a house, then I don't pay a tax on it.  But I need to work, I have no choice, and my labor is not to be taxed.

The Federal Reserve is not only illegal, it is a mafia organization that promotes usury against the people of the United States of America, and promotes war by funding the corporate war machine.  Take the Fed down and all of our problems are solved.

Burn it to the ground.....

Anyone remember Poindexter and TIA -- Total Information Awareness?

Total Information Awareness (TIA) is the name of a massive U.S. data mining project focused on scanning travel, financial and other data from public and private sources with the goal of detecting and preventing transnational threats to national security. TIA has also been called Terrorism Information Awareness. The program was part of the Homeland Security Act and, after its creation in January 2003, was managed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). In

September 2003, U.S. Congressional negotiators agreed to terminate the program and ceased funding. in 2006, however, news agencies reported that software developed for it had been shifted to other agencies, specifically the National Security Agency (NSA).

TIA initiatives included a massive counter-terrorism database and advanced methods for data collection, processing and analysis. At the time, technology capable of accomplishing some of the program's data mining goals had not yet been invented. For example, one component of the system was a technology that enabled unilingual English speakers to monitor information in other languages. To that end, DARPA began awarding contracts for the design and development of TIA system components in August, 2002.

A number of privacy rights organizations, such as the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), expressed concerns that the program would gather the personal information of private citizens indiscriminately and would not be held publicly accountable. While legislative negotiators in Congress (who terminated the project under DARPA) agreed, many of the programs developed under TIA are currently used to gather and analyze data at the NSA.

You either want the Fed to be informed about what the public is saying or you don't.  I prefer that they do.  If you post something to a public web site you have no right to complain about what is done with that post.

Personally I would love an application that could do analysis of, say, comments on ZH so that I did not have to read 500 comments but rather could read a computer generated summary laying out the three or four alternate viewpoints.

Look on the bright side.  This sort of analysis might come back and say that ZH is more reliable and more influential than the Wall Street Journal and that Ben needs to start reading ZH.

This is NOTHING compared to what the NSA can do.  Big Brother is already watching.  On social media sites, you are sacrificing the security of the information you post by default. So what's the big deal?

Research into and gathering information on public opinion is nothing new and hardly worth the abbrasive attack you've given it.  Every advertising firm does it.  Every company selling product does it.  It is not what you portray it to be.

I don't think you get the point.  Public opinion is easily discernible.  It's the government monitoring of individuals expressing that opinion that we 4000 have a problem with.

Sun, 09/25/2011 - 15:04 | 1708199 Absalon
Absalon's picture

I don't think that real public opinion is readily discernible.  There are two many people trying to spin or interpose their interpretation of events for mainstream media to be an accurate reporter of public opinion.  If you really want to know what is going on with public opinion you may want to monitor blog comments, facebook posts and twitter feeds.  I suspect that the flow of online searches is a better source for what is on peoples minds.

There may be advantages for all if Bernanke could get better information.  For example, it might be better if he had real time data on sales from major chain stores and credit card companies.

That is sort of what I was telling my fiancee when we were heading back from the grocery store this evening, and discussing this.  While it does feel slimy and I'm not a fan- I can't say that I do anything different than what they are proposing.  When I'm interested in the "real story" about anything that involves public opinions, comment sections are the place to look.

Seeing as all the comments about the FED are negative these days, it might be the slap in the face the guy needs to stop being a traitor, and start doing the right thing by his countrymen.  Probably not, but one can hope.

And I'm still not too worried- far from being TBTF, I am TSTN (Too small to notice.)

Tyler might be getting a job offer, though.

You can bet when public sites are monitored and certain bloggers/commenters are singled out, their private e-mails, etc will be handed over in the name of national security.

This is just the official "public" monitoring system.  You can bet that it goes far deeper than monitoring public info.  If they were just monitoring public information they'd google "Fed" and click on "Forums".  This goes beyond finding out what's being said.  They want to "CONTINUALLY MONITOR" those who are saying it.

Let's say you have a point. It is bad fucking judgement if they can't see that folks will interpret it this way.

Please answer me this? Why do they need to "Market?" What product are they selling us that they could sell better if they do this? They are NOT like everyone else! They are not clearly private sector (though technically they are supposed to be). They are the nation's bank. You mean I can chose a differnt one? Is there a competitor? Is their competitor doing marketing research like this too so they need to keep up to stay profitable?

fact is, "Wall St." cheats, it was built that way.  (the house always wins brother)  so what?   deal with it or don't play.   that's not the problem.   the problem is that the lives of those who choose not to play in any way are still being dictated by the decisions of those on "Wall St." due to government sponsorship (directly and indirectly) of their activities through giving the "Lords of Wall St." (through their minions, the FED) control of the currency, while mandating that everyone else transact their entire economic lives with same said currency.   that's the fucking problem.

give us the choice of something else besides the FRN (and attached 'income tax') if and when we choose to use it and we got no reason to bitch.   simple as that.

If you "shut your face and know your place" now, it's over.  You and your children will never know freedom in your lifetimes.  Fight with words as long as you can, and accept that "they" might read them.  When that time is over, fight with bullets.  If you run out of bullets, fight with rocks, and if you still haven't won, claw their fucking eyes out as they drag you to the gallows.

There is no other choice, if you want to be free.  There are millions standing behind every one that is brave enough to speak.

@Prometheus418, I'm with you.

Our fear of being singled out for being a "dissenter" is their power to squash dissent.  Its the tactic used by any figure of authority, from sports coach, to teacher, to parent, to military, to tyrannical governments.  They monitor, single people out, punish them to make an example.

We know, by looking at history, what happens when they come for your neighbor and you, out of fear, remain silent.

Lets give them some dissent to squash!  Let em have it!  Overwhelm them with dissent till they have nightmares of a mob coming at them with pitchforks.

We need to follow only one maxim as we go through the next decade:

"Live Free, Die Free"

If each of us follows that, (and there are still plenty of us in the U.S. who agree with that sentiment), then either Big Brother will decide not to cross the Rubicon, or we will make him wish that he had stayed on the other side.

From personal experience, I can confirm the following:

1. The Federal Reserve is actively monitoring blogs and social media - I am tracked frequently by Fed members in Denver, Washington, Kansas City, etc

2. The Federal Reserve will use tweets and blogs against the opposition, as they are currently doing with mine

3. The Federal Reserve will lie against influential activists like myself to protect their position in society

This RFP doesn't surprise me at all. Stay tuned for a document dump of truth that will showcase the lengths the Federal Reserve will go to defeat the opposition. It will contain my tweets and much more.

It's a big pond, man.  Calm down and keep up whatever it is that you've got going on.  Going off the deep end is only going to harm whatever credibility you may have had, and you won't be too "influential" for long.  The net is full of shiny-hat wearers with the story you've got to tell.

Hell, we're all on a list somewhere- some moreso than others, but it really comes to nothing.  Do you honestly believe they let Ron Paul walk the streets and even participate in presidental debates, but they're going to come for you any minute?  It's easy to get paranoid, but if you let that happen, you already lost.

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul.

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
