Brit Lancasters couldn't fly at altitude so had to go at night to minimise losses... bomber command lost 60,000 in ww2.

I will add the following as it has the "history rhyming" aspect to it.
After Germany surrendered, their soldiers surrendered to the Aliies thinking that they would be treated more fairly than by the Soviet hoards. Eisenhower, however, promptly declared and designated the surrendered German soldiers as "defeated enenmy forces" or DEF. He did it to bypass the Geneva Conventions on the legal and illegal treatment of prisoners of war. These soidiers were no longer captured soldiers but "defeated enemy forces." Sounds familiar? George Bush's and now Barack Obama's "Enemy Combatants" with no due process or rights of any kind?
Then began the liquidation of over 1 million surrendered and captured German soildiers, mostly very young or old because Germany ran out men at the end of WWII. They were literally starved to death in open concentration camps guarded by Allied forces, with no food, toiletries, or shelter. Anyone who tried to bring them food or anything were shot on sight. Some 1.2 million Germans were literally starved to death by Eisenhower after WWII.

Thank you for referencing "Other Losses". I went to Amazon and read excerpts and have ordered the book. I spent 7 and 1/2 years in the U.S. Army and have never, not once, heard any of this information. These claims which appear to be well documented have actually caused me to question my own beliefs. Once I read the book I have now idea how I will feel.

Just want to give a shoutout to Zerohedge. I have been a long time reader and dont comment much at all, but not an article passes by my eyes without consideration. I was recently in an advanced graduate finance classroom with the professor being a former hedge fund manager who just recently left the industry. It was clear from the discussions that took place that about 1/4 of the class reads Zerohedge on a consistant basis and there were a few instances where the students had more knowledge than the teacher about current events that undoubtedly came from ZH. This website is truely educating people and letting them know what goes on behind the curtain. I still cannot believe that this is a free service, but that is what makes Zerohedge the best.
