Think Apple is the only thing allowed to hit new records every month? Think again: presenting iFoodstamps - the number of Americans living in poverty (or at least doing a damn good job of fooling the government in pretending they do). As of December, per SNAP this number just hit another record high of 46.5 million, an increase of 384,000 in one month (and ending the trend of declines from October and November), 2.4 million in 2011 (about as many as have dropped out of the Labor force, hmmmm), and 14.3 million since Obama took office.
But it's not all good news for iCommunism: as of December the benefit per household has dropped to a series low of just $280.5. One can only hope this money is being spent on edible iPads and not on silly things such as iPot.

The whole SNAP program can be seen as just another form of bailout of the banks. I don't know how things are done in other parts of the country, but here in California, Bank of America provides the plastic "credit cards" that are used to deliver benefits for food stamps, unemployment, and disability benefits. Users typically get the card in the mail, then go to the supermarket (for SNAP purchases) or to the bank ATM to get their cash benefits.
What a convenient way to deliver benefits, right? Except that every time one of those cards is used for anything, Bank of America takes a hefty cut, and those five-and ten-dollar charges add up in a hurry. So who's really getting something for nothing here?

I'm opposed to food stamps, yes. And you don't need to print off the comments and give them to your impoverished friends- I am more than willing to stand face to face with any of them and explain in clear and unambiguous terms that my family and my children come before them. I have worked for 18 years in conditions that were often appaling and dangerous, cutting metal 10-12 hours a day and then going home to study so that I could improve my own life. In a slightly upbeat SoCal city where I sometimes buy food, there are whites who appear to buy wisely and Asian females who buy expensive and then drive off in a Mercedes. This is an area where the education level is fairly good.
In my East Texas homey town, I see Black females buy reasonably wisely and the White trash buying the Twinkies, potato chips, cokes, and anything besides fruit and veggies. These buyers weight and obesity is in population numbers that are depressing. I was at the day old Weber’s Bread outlet and there was a discussion about deep fried Twinkies (honest to God). Even better is when they drive the carts because they have destroyed their health. The older Mexican women appear to be the wisest buyers, not that I support feeding Mexico’s population spillover into the USA.
