Infographic On The Greatest Gun Salesman In America: President Obama
American firearm sales and concealed handgun permit applications are at all-time highs since the 2008 election of President Barack Obama. President Obama's perceived hostility towards gun owners has been one of the key factors behind the multi-year financial boom the firearms industry continues to enjoy. In fact, the National Rifle Association (NRA) is actively preparing to work to defeat President Obama's 2012 re-election campaign, according to Wayne LaPierre, the CEO of the NRA, who recently said the following at the 2012 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C.:
"Lip service to gun owners is just part of a massive Obama conspiracy to deceive voters and hide his true intentions to destroy the Second Amendment during his second term. We see the president's strategy crystal clear: Get re-elected and, with no more elections to worry about, get busy dismantling and destroying our firearms' freedom, erase the Second Amendment from the Bill of Rights and excise it from the U.S. Constitution...When the sun goes down on election day Barack Obama will have America’s gun owners to thank for his defeat.” -
Wayne LaPierre, CEO of the NRA, February 10th, 2012
Ironically, the perceived hostility towards gun owners by President Obama has actually helped the firearms industry tremendously. Since the 2008 election, more Americans than ever before are purchasing firearms & ammunition. This has meant massive increases in sales by firearm & ammunition makers, billions more in federal and state tax collections related to guns & ammo, increased membership in the NRA, and hundreds of thousands of new Americans carrying concealed handguns. Therefore, should the firearms industry support President Obama for a second term or not?

As for why this may be the case, perhaps it has something to do with the death of the legal system under the current president, very much like Greece, and Robogate killed contract law.

Are ever more Americans simply preparing to take "the law" into their own hands?

I am proud to call myself the owner of a Glock 30, M1911, Mosin, and M1 Garand.
Thanks for "self identifying". Wish I had the funds to replace everything I lost in those canoe/hunting trips.
yes, I will never load all of my gold/silver/ammunition/guns all on the same end of the canoe again - that shit is heavy.
Baracknophobia.

damn there are some arsenals sitting at the bottom of lakes along with a lot of bullion
Bays and estuaries, too. Penobscot Bay alone has an amazing number of firearms and PMs resting among the lobster traps.
get the nitrox!
I'll believe all this bottom of the lake malarkey when I see a chart just like this gun statistic, except for Mini-Subs!
One orf these days I am getting that Sig Sauer.

Always looking for opportunity, I bought a couple spare SCUBA tanks. Didn't find a single coin or a single gun. I did, however, find stacks of residential home deeds, each and every one signed: Linda Green.

That word is too fancy for me. I just call him what he is: A prick!
I firmly believe his intentions are to ruin America.
Careful now it's not politically correct to say ruin. The correct term is "fundamentally tranform."
Actually I suffer from realisticophobia; an abnormal grasp on reality, its a cross I bear..
You on the other hand suffer from hoplophobia, makes sense as I assume your from Moscow on the lake; Madison WI, cheesy turd..
Admit it. The only abnormal grasp you suffer from is the one your mouth has on Barack's penis.
Ooo, too much realistico for me.. ha, I let the honorable Reggie Love handle those duties, I am in charge of Moochelles makeup, those trowels are heavy..
Your comment down thread about fast and furious and this comment, which made me smile, forces my hand. I will give you a greenie and send a blessing your way. God bless and good evening.
Calm and Chessy?
seriously?
you 2?
I mean its fight club and all.. but not you two?
A simple misunderstanding, I believe. My reference to baracknophobia was intended to make a comparison to the movie where a bunch of venemous, deadly insects invades the U.S. I believe Calm saw it as a defense of Barack, ie an irrational fear of him. Nothing could be further from the truth. A small scuffle ensued, but no harm done. At least on my end.
I do enjoy this place..
All we need to know is that this government took "linebacker" a Bush era program to track guns into Mexico and transformed it into Fast and furious where straw buyers were implictly encouraged to purchase guns here and bring them to Mexico and arm the cartels. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the individual honorable street agents were forbidden by their superiors from tracking these guns. One of these guns was found at the mujrder site of federal Agent Brian Terry (whose family filed suit for 25M) and these street agents blew the whistle on their higher ups at risk or their lives, freedom and careers. These agents are still paying the price for their bravery.
Memo's released as a result of the Darrell Issa investigation and exemplary work done by Mike Vanderbough and David Codrea of respectively Sipsey street irregulars blog and Examiner.com show this entoire operation as a plate setting exercise for the final course of restricting the 2nd amendment.
All of you, do the research, hell log onto sipsey street Mike has done all of it already..
Ha, I really like this place. No harm, no foul CB

"I do enjoy this place.."
As do I.
A little something on some cat named El Jaguar ;-)
"Torres Marrufo, also known as "the Jaguar," has been identified by U.S. authorities as the enforcer for Sinaloa cartel chieftain Joaquin "Chapo" Guzman. The Fast and Furious weapons were found at one of Torres Marrufo's homes April 30 when Mexican police inspected the property. It was unoccupied but "showed signs of recent activity," they said.
The basement had been converted into a gym with a wall covered with built-in mirrors. Behind the mirrors they found a hidden room with the Fast and Furious weapons and dozens more, including an antiaircraft machine gun, a sniper rifle and a grenade launcher.
"We have seized the most important cache of weapons in the history of Ciudad Juarez," Chihuahua state Gov. Cesar Duarte said at the time, though he did not know that many of the weapons came from the U.S. and Fast and Furious.
Torres Marrufo has been indicted in El Paso, but authorities have been unable to locate and arrest him."

The Sinaloa cartel, buying guns from Mom & Pop gun stores along the Mexican border is, I believe what we were told at the time what the problem was.
It wasn't, as I said at that time...Mom & Pop gun stores along the Mexican border don't sell grenade launchers and anti aircraft guns.
SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
You are going to get us in real trouble for telling the truth!
You know the Rules!
We can say whatever we want as long as it is a lie!
If you start telling the truth they will come after us!
I think that would make a great bumper sticker.
Cash for Carbines?
He eventually wants us to use them on each other.
It is sad to see that we may have to potentially shoot at another human being because they're mind is posioned.
The mind is warped due to heavy conditioning among other things.
Hard to read to him when every other word that comes out of his mouth is a lie.
But I don't think so.
What he really wanted (IMHO) was for Fast & Furious to work out, to where public opinion might be shifted against gun possession/ownership and people would voluntarily disarm or make the process so onerous many would take their chances dialing 911.
Of course, now they are trapped in that whole mountain of bullshit (F&F) of their own making so public opinion will stay right where it is.
That is, no trust in anything they say.
So I guess it will be "the hard way".
Damn straight - everyone dies, but not everyone gets to influence the manner. I shit you not, while I am typing this my music queue served up "The Hard Way" by Point Blank. Southern rock at its finest.
You Lie! He is has followed thru on Everything he told Wall Street he would do (behind closed doors)! Obama has put No! One!! Not! ONE!! (1)!!! Fucking Scumbag Behind Bars! Lets review the Facts! The Sourced and Sited Facts!! Shall We? for the Stiupid Fucks who still dont get it that are reading this! You know its funny how many people have learned this the hard way. I lost about a dozen weapons like that. Who'd a thunk it?
Im planning on a sound suppressor or two this year so I dont disturb the neighbors while getting rid of varmints in my garden, hopefully when I take them in the canoe they arent lost the same way.
I am not a cocksucker attorney, but as far as I know there is nothing to prevent you from selling your firearms to strangers at a yard sale. Although you need not keep a record of these sales, you may want to keep a copy of the yardsale advertisment from your local newspaper that clearly says, "Gold coins, guns, books, etc."
Down here in Texas all you have to ask is "are you a US citizen?"
I can't find any law that burdens a private citizen with that requirment.
GFKjunior
Down here in Texas all you have to ask is "are you a US citizen?"
DUDE your either a liar, or a TROLL, or BOTH.
That's a lie, and you know it,IF your even from Texas.
Stikethrough fixed?
Edit - guess not
California-based ZH-ers should ignore this advice. Unless the seller has a valid COE (Certificate of Eligibility), and the buyer provides all the personal information required by the DROS (Dealer Record of Sale), the transfer is illegal. Tranfers from private party to private party (e.g. your yard sale example) require that a licensed dealer act as itermediary. He or she will fill out all the forms for the buyer and seller, as well as hold the gun for the required ten day waiting period. Only then does the buyer get his gun. Unless it's a handgun, in which case the buyer must also pass the test for the Handgun Safety Certificate first.
I think the buyer has to do some more paperwork within 30 days and send it in to the DOJ, but you get the idea. It's complicated. I remember an episode of the Simpsons where Homer is trying to buy a handgun, and the salesman informs him of the 10-day waiting period, and Homer says, (read this in your best Homer Simpson whine) "But I'm angry now."
"All laws which are repugnant to the Constitution are null and void." --Marbury v. Madison 1803
Obligatory +1 to Tuco for citing such a relevant statement from the highest court in the land in one of the most important cases in U.S. history, even if "our" goverment (of the special interests, by the special interests and for the special interests) ignores it with incredible frequency.
Unless the firearm is 50+ years old, in which case it's re-classified in CA as a "relic", and eligible for straight sale with no paperwork necessary. You can go to a gun show with cash and pick up some Mosins no problemo (at least for now).
while you do not need to keep a record of private sale for the sake of the law, if your weapon is used in a shooting of any sort, you need to provide a documentation of chain of custody of the weapon....fact
so, you had better keep a personal record of transactions just in case
the form you need is available online in pdf format, so keep your own records
"yes, I will never load all of my gold/silver/ammunition/guns all on the same end of the canoe again - that shit is heavy."
So you are ready to roll over and make excuses and not stand up to the Government , call yourself an American how about chicken.
Go ahead - be the first across the minefield.
Strategically however the best option right now is to respond just like you are being violently raped by a larger and stronger attacker. Because you are. Your goal in that scenario is to endure what is happening and survive, all the while looking for options to escape or turn the tables on your attacker. Enduring is not surrendering, and the harder choice, since you CAN'T go into mental lala land. You HAVE to stay conscious and aware of what is going on.
Fighting a battle when you can't obtain victory makes no sense, since nothing is static. There are always moments when victory is attainable, and it does no good to tip your hand before the moment can arrive.
Ever wonder why everything always erupts at once? It's because there needs to be a critical mass of people who are aware they are being victimized before a spark can put them into motion. In any honest assessment, are there enough out there who realize what is going on?
Endure my brothers.
Hey Ceteris paribus...
Fuck off you little fucking weasel.....
And leave your moms computer alone,FuckTard.
Please share for the class, your whereabouts when you last remember having possession of said boat filled with said booty.
X marks the spot, right?
A friend of mine sponsors a Shootfest every year on his rural property, I will ask permission from the Boss at home (please?) to go next year... Same guy the day after Obama was elected bought $12,000 of guns & ammo. Were it not for Obama being elected, I would not have (whoops had, lost them in a boating accident, dang!) the AK-47 and 9 mm Beretta.
Matter of fact, there are two pictures of his Shootfest at my latest blog piece ("Dis and Dat" -- NOT Bruce K's "Dis and Dat"), drop me a gmail saying you will behave, and I will send you the link, or just search for it. It's a holiday, so my piece is lighter than normal. Hey, humor, history, conspiracy theories and gold all in one easy-to-digest piece!
If all your stuff fit in a canoe, you needed more stuff to begin with...
I like guns!

That is a GREAT song and video by Australian Steve Lee you link there ... some of the lyrics
« I like guns, I like the way they look
I like the shiny steel and the polished wood
I don't care if they're big or small
If they're for sale, Hell, I want 'em all ...
I ain't gonna shoot anyone
And no one shoots at me, 'cuz I got a gun ...
God made the animals, God made the trees,
God made you, Hell, He even made me
God gave me this voice, so I could be a singer
So you tell me why I got a trigger finger! »

Note to Americans: Surprise! We actually have lots of private civilian guns in Europe.
Germany: 25 million civilian privately owned handguns, shotguns, rifles.
France: 19 million civilian privately owned handguns, shotguns, rifles.
And so on.
We do not carry them around, or have as high gun ownership rates as in the US, but 100 million plus private guns in Europe is definitely significant.
Yes, the crazy UK Brit government that confiscated all privately owned handguns in the 1990s - But the Brit regime has crazy moments indeed. It is not like that on the Continent. Here we know the Nazis can come back, they were here before. Guns stay in European people's hands and homes.
Facts of gun ownership and policies in countries around the world:
http://www.gunpolicy.org/
As long as your expounding where exactly are those guns and ammunition required to be stored, not in your home, right.
Your problem isn't "Nazis". The White race in Europe is dieing out thanks to sub-replacement reproduction, and massive non-white/anti-white cheap labor immigration; when the Whites die out, Western Civilization dies with them. Your problem is globalist capitalism + state socialism. Same as in America.
"As long as your expounding where exactly are those guns and ammunition required to be stored, not in your home, right?"
Saw right through it didn't you?
Plus .357 ;-)
A simple question and red, wtf. Brussels (whose commentary I enjoy) ought to tell us that virtually all private arms are kept at shooting ranges (locked up) in Europe and there are virtually no militarily significant weapons among those allowed to be owned, except Switzerland. If you think your shotgun is in most cases militarily significant lets pace off 500 meters between us and have a match, you shotty, me .308..
bank guy in Brussels
We do not carry them around
bank guy, great to know, and congrats on making sure you get to keep them. When any govt wants your birthright, you can rest assured you will sooner of later be a victim.
Police do great work, but they are 1st responders, and not PROactive. But, Reactive......................................I do not need them after my family or myself is shot dead by a scumbag.(no matter what he's wearing).
But here we do carry them around................................by the millions daily.
Its a great deterrent...crime rates are way down, murder, rape and robberies are at 50yr lows.
It would seem, an armed society really is a polite society.
And a tip o the hat to the NRA for standing in the breach, sometimes completely alone, for all those years.

They are even more ardent than the NRA, just not as numerous.
They unlike the NRA(at times) do not believe in compromise with the devil.

Do yourself a huge favor and take Tactical Pistol, I, II, and III before you start to carry. You need not have received your CHL to attend.

The "Death Wish" movies were all about ridding the streets of lawless scum. Time to show the lawless scum how their bad behavior should be properly rewarded.
Too bad the "are you feeling lucky, punk" line was already used in another movie, I'd have enjoyed hearing Bronson say that line.
This is a racist post.
Just 'cause he's black let's start making jokes about food stamps and guns.
Right wing Republican radicals.
