Infographic On The Greatest Gun Salesman In America: President Obama

Tyler Durden's picture

American firearm sales and concealed handgun permit applications are at all-time highs since the 2008 election of President Barack Obama. President Obama's perceived hostility towards gun owners has been one of the key factors behind the multi-year financial boom the firearms industry continues to enjoy. In fact, the National Rifle Association (NRA) is actively preparing to work to defeat President Obama's 2012 re-election campaign, according to Wayne LaPierre, the CEO of the NRA, who recently said the following at the 2012 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C.:

"Lip service to gun owners is just part of a massive Obama conspiracy to deceive voters and hide his true intentions to destroy the Second Amendment during his second term. We see the president's strategy crystal clear: Get re-elected and, with no more elections to worry about, get busy dismantling and destroying our firearms' freedom, erase the Second Amendment from the Bill of Rights and excise it from the U.S. Constitution...When the sun goes down on election day Barack Obama will have America’s gun owners to thank for his defeat.” -

Wayne LaPierre, CEO of the NRA, February 10th, 2012

Ironically, the perceived hostility towards gun owners by President Obama has actually helped the firearms industry tremendously. Since the 2008 election, more Americans than ever before are purchasing firearms & ammunition. This has meant massive increases in sales by firearm & ammunition makers, billions more in federal and state tax collections related to guns & ammo, increased membership in the NRA, and hundreds of thousands of new Americans carrying concealed handguns.  Therefore, should the firearms industry support President Obama for a second term or not?

As for why this may be the case, perhaps it has something to do with the death of the legal system under the current president, very much like Greece, and Robogate killed contract law.

Are ever more Americans simply preparing to take "the law" into their own hands?

100 million handguns in America?

45 million handgun owners?

How is that possible when I own at least 56 million handguns myself?

Violent crime in D.C. surges in 2012 Internal police data show citywide problem...from the Washington Times.....this is why??? coming soon to your back yard..

DosZap's picture

According to the latest FBI statisitcs the crime rates are lower now than they have been in the last ten years, and going down each year.

So much for the Crime Waves.

The only places you will find the rates of shootings up, is where only the criminals have them(guns).( D.C. NYC, and Chi Town), have always been super dangerous, with murders galore.( Civilians not allowed to own weapons).

The Brits, crime rates  way up( Bobbies are now packing Glocks), the Aussies, WAY up(since the mandatory turn in)......................and the govenments just cannot understand how this can be.???????????????

Check this out,

The Freedom Group is now the most powerful force in the U.S. commercial gun industry today. They have quickly and quietly acquired notable gun brands such as Bushmaster, DPMS, and Remington Arms. Yet, nobody has ever heard of it.

Even within gun groups, the question is being asked:

What is the Freedom Group?

A quick search of news on the Freedom Group reveals that what little has been written about them has only been written in recent weeks. A Wikipedia article lists the following companies as being owned by Freedom Group: Remington Arms, Bushmaster Firearms International, DPMS Panther Arms, Marlin, H & R Firearms, NEF, Dakota Arms, LC Smith, Parker, Advanced Armament Corporation, Barnes Bullets, EOTAC, INTC.

Due to the current political climate, as well as the fast and quiet nature of the Freedom Group acquiring so many large firearms companies, speculation has easily gravitated toward worst-case scenarios.

Rumors drifting along the Internet suggest the Freedom Group is being used in a government plot to disarm the American people. Other rumors suggest the Freedom Group is one of George Soros’s many front companies, and that he is seeking to corner the gun market for his owns ends.

OT:  Unfortunately all my guns have been lost in a tragic boating accident along with my gold and silver coins, I will try and recover them but the Mariana Trench, some 6.7 miles deep is a difficult task, call me for the Lat. Long. #'s

I dunno... Freedom Group recently elected Nardelli as CEO... he seems to lean right... was a big Bush supporter (heheheh, he said bush supporter, heheheheh).

I found this last month when I was looking up who owned Spyglass Entertainment

It's my understanding that both Remington Arms and Bushmaster are owned by Steve Feinberg through Cerberus Capital Management. he also owns DynCorp International.

from Cerberus capital management page on Wikipedia.

Firearms — Acquired Bushmaster Firearms, Inc., from Windham, Maine native Dick Dyke for an undisclosed sum in April 2006, and purchased Remington Arms in April 2007. Under Cerberus direction, Bushmaster Firearms acquired Cobb Manufacturing, a well-respected manufacturer of large-caliber tactical rifles in August 2007. Cerberus also acquired DPMS Panther Arms December 14, 2007.[29][30] Remington Arms acquired Marlin Firearms in January 2008.[31][32] In October 2009, Remington Military products acquired silencer manufacturer Advanced Armament Corporation.[33] These companies were combined into the Freedom Group.

A sheeple-filled, gun owning society sounds like a recipe for one helluva BBQ. Are you all sure the gun lobby isn't a Russian funded takeover bid? Come SHTF day, you'll be so busy whacking each other left, right and centre, no-ne will be there to make sure the back door is fully secured.

Lucky Guesst's picture

Not hardly. In my area we hear guns going off in the distance all the time and it feels great!!!!! I know my neighbors are as prepared as we are and nobody around here takes from anyone because we have self-respect and can provide for ourselves! God bless America and cuss off agenda21 city sheep! WOOOOOHOOOOO :-)

Central Bankster's picture

How did you manage to become old AND ignorant?  Lucky for your offspring, you never needed to protect anyone from physcial violence.  You really are one of the "sheeple".

hamurobby's picture

no-ne will be there to make sure the back door is fully secured.

You really think you can truly secure a residence by locking the doors?

Lucky Guesst's picture

Right. Doors aren't locked but there are 4 spoiled dogs that live and breath to protect me and mine. We'll have plenty of time to grab a gun and meet the sorry intruder outside lol

Uchtdorf's picture

Your spelling of "centre" readily identifies you as yet another foreigner jealous of the right of a US citizen to defend himself and kin. All you have to do is vote for good men and women who will return that right to you...ha! Good luck with that. Those kinds of rights are God-given and once they are gone...

I'm still waiting for the approval of my license to buy a firearm. It's already week 28. Fuck New Jersey.

Move to Texas. The wait is 10 minutes. 15 minutes if it's a busy day.

I can attest to that. Took me longer yesterday to check out than to fill out the paperwork

Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez's picture

Move to Oklahoma.  The wait is the nanosecond you cross the state line.  Your right to keep and bear arms has nothing to do with permits.  It is a right not a privilege!

You can't eat guns, lol.

knightowl77's picture

You can't eat, what you can't keep.......don't bring a can of beans to a gun fight, you'll lose

No, but, you can find something to eat with them. ;)

Here we go again.

We are sufficiently armed and trained.

We continue to break the rust off every so often while clinging to our guns and bibles.

Just recently there was two mass classes with about 100+ learning to use, carry a gun with a license in our state. And that does not include the dozens who take such classes each week.

There are some combat courses available as well where you get to do some fun things like blasting a teddy bear through a car windshield.

Or actually have a chance to blast the engine block through and through with some of the Magnum Slugs made for the purpose.

I say a bit of armor saves you a great deal of billing for a GSW workup in Trauma.

Good for you but in my state open carry is legal and concealed..... lets just say its easier to get forgiveness than permission ;-)

You will never hear me argue against the right to bear arms.

But you gentlemen are mistaken if you think that hoarding ammo and weapons will save you, or that it's even a particularly productive thing to do.  Beyond a certain point it's quite pathetic, and it betrays the fact that you know that you really don't have much power at all.

Also, you will never hear me praise the affirmative action nonentity that is Obama.  But next to the motley crue of imbeciles and snakes that make up the current crop of Republican candidates, he seems almost benign.  Which is why he might get reelected despite our country going down the crapper.

One or two sniper teams can prevent personnel movement thruoughout a city.

In my city of five thousand we have probably sufficient volunteers to build 50 teams. Being unable to move without armored humvees and personnel carriers is a big deal. There is not enough military equipment ro occupy rhe red states if civil war were to break out.
Yes civilian weapons and volunteers that number in the tens of millions would most definitely be a serious challenge

You would find me in confined spaces down below, not up on the broad street to be picked off.

I can probably with some good help turn a large entryway into a murder hole. It would be quite a bit of work though...

That is for Zombies. Which I think probably wont happen unless this Nation is truly desperate...

If so, what matters life? Much.

tim73's picture

Except they got drones. While you are happily scanning the perimeters, there comes a missile to greet you and your "team".

Uchtdorf's picture

If it gets that bad, they will quickly run out of drones. Granted, I may be one of the first to go...

The only thing standing between our having some remaining semblance of freedom here in the U. S. and being lined up, shot in the back of the head and thrown into a pit is an armed populous.  If you think otherwise you do not know history.  260,000,000 humans were exterminated by their own governments in the last century.
