Iran Sentences Alleged CIA Spy To Death

Tyler Durden's picture

Just when we thought we may go through one full day without some escalation out of the greater Iran region, here comes the WSJ to inform us that Iran has decided to shove the MAD ball right back into America's court with news that Iran has sentenced alleged CIA spy, 28 year old Amir Hekmati, to death. "Amir Mirzaei Hekmati, born in Arizona to Iranian parents and raised in Michigan, was accused of Moharebe--or being the enemy of God-- the highest crime in Islamic law that carries the death penalty in countries where Sharia law is practiced. The prosecutor's indictment against Hekmati, read in court, said he was guilty of waging a war against God, spying on the Islamic Republic of Iran for the CIA and working for an enemy government, according to Iranian media reports." Needless to say, "the case, the first recent death penalty for an American in Iran, will likely increase tensions between the U.S. and Iran. The State Department has called for Iran to release Hekmati and give the Swiss embassy--the protectorate of U.S. interest in Iran--access to him." It appears Iran has decided not to proceed with those particular instructions.

More from the WSJ:

Fars News Agency, a semi-official service affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards Corps, quoted Hekmati in court as saying, "I was fooled by the CIA to come to Iran and infiltrate the intelligence agencies and become a source for the CIA. But I personally didn't intend to harm Iran, I love Iran and wanted to live here and not return to the U.S."

It is not clear if the quotes attributed to Hekmati are accurate or if he made the comments under duress in a forced confession. The court hearing was behind closed doors.

Hekmati is a former U.S. Marine who served from 2001-2005 and subsequently worked as a contract translator for the U.S. Army in Afghanistan. At the time of his visit to Iran in August, he was working for a contractor company in Qatar, according to statements by his family.

The CIA has not commented on his case but his family has said that his visit to Iran in August 2011 was for personal reasons and denied that he received training or worked for the CIA.

"Amir has never had any affiliation with the CIA, and these allegations are untrue," said the family in a statement in December after his initial court hearing.

Judging by Brent's response today, especially with some rather dire predictions hitting the tape over the weekend, few believe this latest push will amount to much and is merely more posturing. Which it will be, until it isn't.

This is the moment of truth for Iranians:

·      If they allow a CIA spy to go then they are POS and coward like Saddam and Qaddafi

·      If they execute a CIA spy then they are serious and Israel/America must think twice before starting an aggression

A history note

All American flyers shut down over USSR in late 1940s and early 1950 were tortured and executed. So American knew that Stalin was serious and would not hesitate to nuke the USA in a case of a war.

This what Truman told to General MacArthur when the general suggested to use nukes in Korea.

Iran isn't going to let him go. They'll probably televise the beheading for maximum effect. What's more, the U.S. government probably won't try too hard to get his release, since his execution serves their purposes as well. I feel sorry for him and his family.

while one can empathise with both Hekmati and his family, I think it's important to acknowledge he volunteered for the Marines, and then voluntarily took a contract job with the Army, and was working for a contractor company in Qatar - doing what exactly is unclear here - but Hekmati is making decisions for himself, and these are some consequences of those decisions.

Iran Crisis: Something Fishy Contrived?  Is That the Word I am Looking For?

by Gordon Duff,  Senior Editor

From the sound of it, the US stands ready to attack Iran any day now. Now for the funny part.

Two days ago, I took my wife down to get a replacement ID card.  We go to our local Air Force Base, headquarters of the 180th Fighter Wing, more or less
the “tip of the spear” as for American air power.

This is our local boys, family to our town, this is “our” military.  They are quietly home, alive and well and not relocating to the Middle East.

You can’t even count how many times they have been deployed but they aren’t deployed now.

I tend to not believe in the current crisis and the threatened attack.  I have intelligence sources in most governments in the region, safely, the equal of the CIA, perhaps better.  I am more “likeable” even on my grumpy days.

Back years ago, 9/11, the first thing I asked was “who makes money off this.”

By 2006, we had enough witnesses come forward we could prove our suspicions that, essentially, America’s government had fallen in 2000 and a cabal, the same that orchestrated the Afghanistan invasion, the Iraq invasion, the phony intelligence for both, those pulling the Bush/Blair “strings” planned and executed 9/11.

In the end, we have stood for years now ready to arrest Americans and Israelis and not one single Muslim.  This would be the easiest criminal case in history.

After 11 years, covering up 9/11 is more Zionism than the “wailing wall” or bulldozing homes in the West Bank.  Israel has screamed “we did it” even to the point where, on a personal basis, they don’t even deny it.

Only Julian Assange and, oh, I forgot, George Galloway deny it.

Now, George Galloway, the “spotted zebra” of the “left” in Britain is crying out against war in Iran.  This is a guy who is still trying to sell the old 9/11 report, you know, the one with the plane that hit the Pentagon after we finally got ahold of the video of the missile?

Thankfully for you, the goyim fall for these grade school emotional manipulations.  Devoid of reason, as mere chattel of the feild, to be managed as per the law handed to us chosen peple by God almighty, manipulate and deceive our way to heaven, or if not heaven, at least some earthly semblage of it in our own minds, the meaty savor of our superiority alone sufficing to offset the reality of endless war , terrorism, harsh speeches and reprehensible acts if commited towards another Jew. Ultimately though, even the subsentient cattle grow wary of the slaughterhouse, the endless sound of the guillotine and the smell of death, at which point another exodus will most likely occur. Oh America, let my people go! How you have abused us poor Jews! We where not able to obtain a decent living among all these lowly multitudes and they hated us without cause! Again! Oh America why hast thou hated us JOOOZ so much and made us all poor and deprived us all of even a slice of bread to comfort our suffering selves with and some murky creek water to wash it down with! Oh the abuse! All unearned of course!

Enlighten you?  Doubtful since you only believe what you want to.   All you have are questions because you don't like the answers that are given so you want other ones.  If you ask me what the weather is going to be tomorrow and I say cold and you call me a liar because you want it to be warm or if you want to define it as warm, then you will never accept the answer.

Why don't you enlighten me?  How come people like you have made no supposed progress on what happened with your theories of 9/11.  All that planning needed of supposed demolition and no witnesses?  No receipts?  No confessors? The best you can come up with is Israeli movers with box cutters?  Did they jump from the plane after guiding it?  The pictures on CNBC that morning weren't enough proof? Do you want me to believe there are no Israeli movers in the New York metro?

Straw man tactics and false logic aren't working.  Arguments such as, "soooo many people would have to be involved, THATS IMPOSSIBLE!", are OPINION.  In the upper echelon of government everything is compartmentalized.

Witnesses? Barry Jennings comes to mind. He was inside WTC7 on 9/11, his testimony is a little hard to explain for deniers such as yourself.  Like many others, he has since died.  Can't tell you what from, for some reason no obituary or explanation was released.

If you actually give a shit about the Mossad connection (which I don't think you do) take five minutes...

Then tell me, Urban Moving Systems Dominic Suter and Sivan Hurzberg were just there to "document" the event???

Seriously, thousands of Israelis were forewarned and years later no one says anything.  Do you read anything about Israel.  Those people blab everything and can't wait to screw themselves over giving up state secrets yet here we have nothing nothing nothing.

For the promise of market share. The assholes went from not allowing access to military GPS system to demanding 1/4 of them had to have access to demanding that all of them have to have access as the Military has gone from funding through taxpayers to funding through corporations.

If you must use a cell phone demand a stupid candy bar phone. If you use a smartphone you are financing israel terrorist organizations. 80 percent of all cell phone billing is done by israel. When their drug dealers are being tracked they warn them to switch usage patterns to protect them from the REAL investigators in the world.

Mexico could NOT have been infiltrated and taken over by drug gangs without israeli cell phone companies help.

Did you even read the emails. They are counting on chinese cooperation based on GE giving them engine and avionics information while GE at home practices engineered obsolescence to sell you a washing machine every 5 years.

Cellphone coverage is purely ground based. It's based on cell phone station poles for coverge. It really has nothing to do with satellites. You don't have cell phone coverage because it's too expenisve to provide the network and since the network is paying for a completely irrelevant satellite system is tied into data plan. Unless you can provide them 10 bucks a month for the cell phone service and 50 extra bucks a month to pay for the spying and gps satellite system they don't need and dont want you. Their primary mission is not providing a communications network to all citizens. The satellite modem or ground wire that you are using is doing that. The jews also run dish network which launches satellites to send TV programming they create to you.

And google has adequate resolution to view your property.

Damn, Joyful, you are just too clever.  And to think some of us thought we could sneak this by you and make people think something----anything---in this world happens without our control or approval.  I mean, we could hardly call ourselves Illuminati if we couldn‘t control, with one hand tied behind our collective, scaly backs, the other 7 billion non-Illuminati sucking down our air on this planet, right?

Time to come clean.  Yes, I am the product of a passionate but---let’s be honest--- ultimately hormone-driven liaison between a male from the Rothschild clan and a woman from the Rockefellers (but NOT that Arkansas offshoot!) that might have proven to be a scandal if not for total the media control exercised by both families.  How did it happen?  Well, if you’ve ever been to Bohemian Grove, when the moon is full, and the Napa Valley wineries join with The French Laundry to cater the proceedings….let’s just say even Lizard People have a touch of romance in them.

Reared at Choate and schooled at Princeton under the watchful eye of Professor Ben Bernanke, I then used the cover of a Rhodes Scholarship (I was the Mansfield-Smith Cummings Award recipient) to do my MI6 training, doing a rotational and temporarily seconded to Mossad in Beirut.  For my final project in spy school I kidnapped Anglican Bishop Terry Waite and false flagged it to the up-and-coming Hezbollah organization, putting them on the map and setting the stage for Iran Contra (Ollie, Claire and Dewey still owe me big for that one.)  Success of that training op earned me my 33rd Degree Freemason sashes and Golden Level (no tungsten in this sucker, and almost big enough to back my own currency).

Later I went on to do a stint with George Soros at the Quantum Fund (where we got back at Britain for its less than vigorous support of The Joooz at Suez in ‘56) by crushing the pound AND later convincing Gordon Brown that it was a good idea to dump those barbarous relics he had lying around at the BOE.  Great Uncle Meyer built a golden swimming pool at his chateau in Loire with that stuff, Olympic-size, too.  By the way, have you ever wondered why you have never seen George Soros’ tongue?”  Maybe you haven’t thought about it.  Well, the man can slick his own old-man eyebrows with that thing.  There are Lizard People, and there are Lizard People, if you know what I mean.

Just for your information, Osama was not officially one of us.  He was just a useful idiot, though kind of a nice and unassuming fellow.  We called him "Tim", and he's actually from Poughkeepsie, NY, where his father, an Estonian immigrant, was a moderately successful accountant.  Not a Big Five bean counter by any stretch, but good enough to keep food on the family table.  And don't let that frail physique fool you; ObL was the star of our intramural volleyball league.  Pure fast-twitch muscle fiber in that guy.  As for Ayman al Zawahri (we call him "Gary"), he can't play worth a lick, though I have to admit he's an accomplished pan flute player and has earned a tidy sum in his alter ego as Zanthir.  I think Tyler carries the CDs in the ZH store if you're interested.

As clever as you and your doughty band of truth seekers on Zerohedge are, it surprises me you never figured out the genesis of this website.  You of all people should appreciate good old fashioned, old school, classic baiting techniques.  ZH is straight from the book of Feliks Dzerzhinsky of Cheka fame (and a Jooo to boot).  Just like he used The Trust to lure in opponents to Lenin’s revolution after we disposed of the Tsar (“I hung around St. Petersburg, when I thought it was time for a change“…Mick, a fellow in the craft, miffed a few of us for getting too close to the truth in that Sympathy for the Devil number), Zerohedge is bait cast to lure in opponents to our Illuminati plan to further enslave humanity.  It has worked like a charm, drawing in everyone who “knows” the real truth behind 9/11, the JFK assassination, the Lunar Landing, Vince Foster, chemtrails, Area 51, psychotropic mind control, and the coming culling of the population.  Frankly, you really missed that one, even though it is so patently obvious.  Do you really think it is just pure coincidence that you cannot spell Georgi Hristozov without “ZOG”?

Well, got to go.  The G550 is due its annual, and I’d hate to have to show up at Davos on commercial.

Inasmuch as the Arab Spring is producing new regimes LESS FRIENDLY to Israel than the preceeding gang, yeah, I'd say it was initially spontaneous. Chindit does have a point & I agree with compassionate... I don't see anything about the military being involved prior to 2009. More like techie, social network seminars for young people to have a voice, and I am sure there were many earnest young Egyptians who signed up in all innocence. But with the inclusion of training by the special forces, it is definitely militarized now. Perhaps that was the goal all along, but it is incredibly stupid to include the military in what could have been a successful movement for peaceful change. The name, "Alliance of Youth Movements" also has a vague familiarity about it - Like the forced amalgamation of the Hitler youth movement, Boy Scouts, and others in 1933 - Allianz der Jugendbewegungen.

It's sickening how these think-tanks full of old farts and sick sociopaths abuse impressionable young people for their needs. No doubt we'll see a "popular" youth uprising in Venezuela armed with sniper rifles, IEDs, and blackberries. Didn't they learn anything from their al queda/mujahedeen experiments?

On the AYM website, there's quite a bit of stuff about oppressive regimes all over the place, but try typing in "SOPA" or "NDAA" in their search engine, and the result is a complete blank. #OWS returned results, but clicking on the links produced completely different articles on Jordan and Burma. Hilarious! I mean how can an "Alliance of youth movements" "fighting oppression and censorship" have absolutely nothing on the USA? The cover is too pathetic for words.  http://www.movements.org/  They are looking for a new managing director. Interested?

One of the founders and sponsors of AYM is Gen-Next. (http://www.gen-next.org/about/overview/) It looks like a fairly standard young conservative think-tank. I don't know whether they are just taking the piss, but AYM is listed under their menu heading, "Special Ops", and apparently they have an "Execution Team". They must have a few screws loose, or they just don't care.

It seems hard for me to imagine that the CIA would choose a former marine to go undercover in Iran!

When I lived in South America, a man knocked on our door one day. He told us he worked for the CIA and asked us to translate a document into English so that he could send an urgent wire to a distant city to stop counterfeiters. I have no idea if he was truly CIA or not, but if he was, then he didn't fit the profile. For one thing, he was a local who didn't speak a word of English!

While there, people would often point to me and my friends on the street and yell, "CIA!" We laughed! The real CIA isn't so obvious!

The other thing I wonder about is how Amir could have been foolish enough to serve in the U.S. military, and then go to Iran! There appears to be much more to this story that we don't know.

I feel very sorry for Amir and his family. I hope his life can be saved. Let's ask God to soften the hearts of his captors and return him to his family! God bless him for his service to his countrymen!

perversely enough this sentence demonstrates that iranians regard civil liberties in much higher reverence than americans whose president at whim - as in the ancien regime or hitler germany - can sentence to death anyone for any reason at any time...ndaa...oh of course it would always be couched as being a supporter of al qaeda wink wink

This is just he latest example of how Iran views people as pawns, not humans. They have no concept of human worth and the rights of individuals to dignity or due process.

But, they can't possibly KNOW for sure that he would not return to "the fight" now can they?

After all , it IS a WORLDWIDE WAR ON TERROR is it not?

At least toss him in GITMO-iran as one can never know for sure and if one does know for sure then the proof can never be put forward as that would just help the "evil ones".

Isn't that the song and dance circle jerk used in the "west"?

ha.

fry the bastard.

if i was this guy so charged i would argue
that the charge of being an enemy of god, waging war ! (sheesh)
is patently ridiculous and fallacious, unprovable
and actually a sacrilege, not to mention wrought
with idiocy, born of a disturbing bent toward pandering
satan worship, and also it is not a charge of any kind.
if god made man, with or without free will, it is all
god working in mysterious ways so don't blame me! the
wrongly and falsely accused.
only god could know and the prosecution is not god for if
it were it is guilty for not stopping me before i actually
stole the neighbor's goat ! that's the first thing.
as for the spying for an enemy government, working
for an enemy government, i hope they have to produce
some actual pay stubs or some sort of documentation
of recompensing. that would be necessary in any legitimate
court, sharia or otherwise. if they have the goods then
he should cut a deal as court is just a game show called
'let's make a deal', or 'the price is right', where the
profoundly doomed are executed. one of them....
either that or plead insanity and throw yourself at the
mercy of the god loving court. if god can't forgive a goat
heist then maybe god is just a very limited and restricted
goat herder who enjoys slave labor and cheese like the rest of us.
with all due respect to all religions and their followers
goes without saying, except when they behave like rabid
wild dogs on vacation or at the office or at happy hour, of course ...
but i have to ask why would a nice young islamic boy from texas
travel to iran and steal the goat of an iranian intelligence official?
it seems he was searching for hardship. perhaps he was attempting
to escape Mormonism?

Both Houses of Congress, Tim Geitner, Ben Bernacke...for the "spy"

We get one of our own back and get to throw out the trash too!

According to the conservative iranian newspaper Kayhan they started with enrichment processes.

This from NRC Handelsblad in the Netherlands. A senior editor of this dutch newspaper appeared on the Bilderberg Attendee list last year.

I know! Let's mount another hostage rescue mission. See, we load up these choppers and send them in low over the Iranian desert, where they rendezvous with a refueling plane that landed earlier, and then we just go in and grab the guy and bring him home. What could be easier? USA! USA!
