Iran Test Fires Second Missile In 24 Hours As Posturing Escalates
As expected yesterday, when the US went out full bore with a Japan approach of McCollum-like strategy of leaving Iran no option but to keep escalating until finally the US has enough public support grounds for a response, in under 24 hours Iran has launched a second missile, this time not a medium-range SAM to a long-range shore-to-sea missile. Needless to say, the US 5th Navy is watching these quite welcome developments with great interest. From Reuters: "Iran said on Monday it had successfully test fired a long-range missile during its naval exercise in the Gulf, flexing its military muscle to show it could hit Israel and U.S. bases in the region if attacked. The announcement came amid rising tension over Iran's disputed nuclear programme which Western powers believe is working on developing atomic bombs. Tehran denies the accusation and last week said it would stop the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz if the West carried out threats to impose sanctions on its oil exports." At this point it is glaringly obvious to all but the most confused that the US is consistently pushing Iran to escalate further and further, until such time as the US ships stationed in Bahrain say enough and decide it is time to sink some boats.
More
"We have test fired a long-range shore-to-sea missile called Qader (capable), which managed to successfully destroy predetermined targets in the Gulf," deputy Navy Commander Mahmoud Mousavi told the official news agency IRNA. Iran earlier said it would test fire two long-range missiles on Monday - Qader and another system called Nour (light) - to display its resolve to counter any attack by enemies such as Israel or the United States."
Where it gets interesting is that in what is a certain show of solidarity for Syria, Iran's Mousavi said observers from the country's closest Arab ally, Syria, would attend the last day of its 10-day naval exercise.
The rest is already well-known:
The European Union is considering a ban - already in place by the United States - on imports of Iranian crude.
The U.S. Fifth Fleet reacted to Iran's threat to stop oil flows, saying it will not allow any disruption of traffic in the Gulf.
The United States and Israel have not ruled out military action against Iran if diplomacy fails to resolve the Islamic state's nuclear row with the West.
Iran said it had no intention to close the Strait of Hormuz.
"No order has been given for the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. But we are prepared for various scenarios," state television quoted navy chief Habibollah Sayyari as saying.
Probably the best advice we have at this point is to keep an eye on what Goldman's commodity research group is saying: if they tell clients to dump Brent, we are probably minutes away from full out war. Until then, the foreplay will continue.

Obvious Troll... his avatar looks like a little fascist. He wants the government to tax the people and give the money to businesses.
No....he sounds like a neocon who wants zero taxes but bunches of cashola for some fun wars to annihilate those that are less deserving to live than he.
Perhaps you should just stick to corporate media news.
"Iran has no choice? How many times have we sent them a message that we don't want them developing nuclear weapons?"
And who are you, oh internet nigger, to tell Iran what to do? Take your holier-than-thou shit and shove it up your gaping asshole.
So, I guess you're okay with Iran threating to wipe Israel off the map, huh? And why not? Who are we to tell them what to do? In fact, who is anyone to tell anybody anything?
Jackass.
OMG...do you NOT know that Israel has HUNDREDS of nukes as well as defensive capabilities? You truly are a moron with your panties in a wad!
The sad part is, you literally have NO idea how systematically brainwashed and mind-controlled you are. I have done serious study on the history and methodology of propaganda, and you are a classic case.
I suppose you also believe that the German army was cutting off the hands of little children as they marched through Belgium before WW1.
Sorry, but its YOU that have your head in the sand. We are dealing with a Theocracy here whose President (Ahmadinejad) has claimed divine guidance and made apocalyptic threats, If you listen to the news, you know this. If not, Google it. My point is you may be dealing with religious nutjobs with whom traditional deterrance might not work. If I'm wrong, then (worst case) Iran's nuclear program is history; if you're wrong, we're talking about a holocaust. But I guess that's lost on you. To any thinking person who sincerly cares about Western Civilization, its simply not acceptable for Iran to have nukes, period.
rbg81, off of his meds:
Apocalyptic threats? The guy might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but what are you talking about? You're not trotting out that tired old bromide about map wiping, are you? That tale is less credible than the corporate media paid to parrot it. (By the way, the Iranian president is not the ruler of the country. You did know that, didn't you?)
Actually, you believe the news, so you believe this.
At this point I thought you were supposed invoke Hitler directly, not merely refer to him inferentially.
The inside of your head must be a frightening place. Killing a bunch of Americans and Iranians won't make it any better. Perhaps you just need a change of medication.
rbg81 regurgitated what he was told to think when he said:
So we're back to the imaginary threats again, huh? Just because your perception of the world leaves you cowering and bewildered, why should anyone, American or Iranian, have to die over the phantom bogeymen of your paranoia?
Have you stopped beating your wife?

Obvious troll with atavic propension to send goyim to slaughter other goyim for the sake of his speculative gains, theft and self-aggrandizement.
Trust the Zionist crew, then regret and rue.
it doesn't matter what zeroHeads "think" or "want" and i don't care where you get yer info, no one here knows whether iran posesses a warhead or not, imo, and i'm sticking to it, at least long enuf to point out that these events and "relationships" are among the most propagandized in world history, meaning that we are both seeing and participating in an armed fable of fear, loathing, and mass destruction and that as we do so, we are constantly conditioned to believe our ignorant opinions really matter, too
for the 'elections', we won't even see the hand-puppets, just the shadow-shows upon on the wal...l
But everyone here knows which country in the Middle East has 500 nuclear warheads and the means to deliver them anywhere on the globe.
...and people are also taught how important it is to know that, too!
...and once yer button gets pushed, ya better try to push other peoples' buttons, too. which is why it is such a "hot button" issue for 'elections'
hey, mr tomater, thxz for helping me out, here!
Just in case you are not a troll, but some deluded thumbless moron new to the information age......
What the fuck can you possibly be afraid of? The USA has Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological weapons galore. Enough to destroy the entire planet many times over (With some help from Russia), that are launch capable and ready NOW on a vast array of delivery systems. I didn't even mention the fucking STOCKPILES of real, verified nuclear, biological and chemical weapons that are kept by sick fucks who want them "Just in case" (Just in case of WHAT? Just incase there's another planet they want to destroy?). With all that military power, you are still scared of Iran?
How fucking paranoid and cowardly do you have to be to think like you? I cannot even begin to imagine it.
you are right, there is no way that a suitcase nuke could ever be blown off in a major US city, not with all the stockpiles of weapons we have.
If you're that worried about that scenario, then you should try to ban physics from every classroom in the world. Failing that, it's best not to start another fucking war and instead start playing nice with your global neighbours. Perhaps even pay a fair price for other people's natural resources, instead of wasting trillions to control the production and price by war.
Sure, a suitcase nuke can be set off. and it will be a false-flag, just like the Maine, the Lusitania, Pearl Harbor, the Gulf of Tonkin, the Cole, and the WTC.
You aren't even a very good troll. Go watch some more Shrek.
If it is you'll be the one to set it off. Do me a favor and no more false flag ops? TIA.
there is no way that a suitcase nuke could ever be blown off in a major US city
Well if it has to happen... I mean REALLY happen... I guess I'd have to give the nod to LAS VEGAS...
Really, that's funny 'cause I can't imagine how blind and ignorant you (and your ilk of useful idiots) are toward the potential threat. Yeah, a theocracy headed by a wanna-be savior President (Ahmadinejad) who thinks he is on a divine, apocalyptic mission. Why not let them have nukes? After all, they wouldn't dare use them or give them to any of their terrorist buddies, right? [/s] Its always easier to deny reality than to confront evil. Or, as I suspect, some of you actually daydream of a US city getting nuked.
The only useful idiot here is you, bud. Your paranoia, ignorance, and hate is incredibly useful for the military industrial complex and those who profit from human misery.
Some of us are the ones who pick up the pieces and clean up after people like you fuck up another country whose people have never done you harm. Get this straight in your head: The only person here who dreams of war is YOU. Everyone here want to prevent one from escalating to nuclear war. Just read your own words: You want to kill millions of people on the off chance that Iran might one day, somehow, attack a US city sometime vaguely in the future because apparently you know for sure that their president thinks he is on a mission from god. I think they classify people like you as the criminally insane. Anders Breivik, is that you?
Not really my place to nose in here, but I hope no one get's nuked. I have seen enough fighting in my life and it really need's to stop some how.
You can either wait for it to stop bothering you, because you've died, or you can get real. Humans compete with each other. Always have, always will.
You are one stupid dumbass! Oh and thanks for mentioning Hitler.
Why? Does any mention of Hitler automatically invalidate one's argument? I guess history doesn't mean a whole lot, huh?
rbg81, feeling defiantly ignorant:
History doesn't matter to pants-pissing paranoiacs like you that make it up as they go.
Uh, huh. I'd luv to the see the comic book you get your history from, if only for winks and giggles. Stooge, indeed--what an appropriate pseudonym!
1st Iran is not annexing the Czech's or anybody else for that matter, to compare Iran of 2012 to Germany of 1930's is propaganda addled fantasy warmongering, Iran does not have the economic, industrial or military resources to launch or sustain any type of action against Israel, the US or any of our allies, nuclear armed or otherwise. the head of the mossad said this himself, "a nuclear armed Iran does not pose an existential threat to Israel."
2nd in the event that Iran does develop and build a nuclear weapon common sense tells you they could only ever hold it as a deterrent. why should we in the US worry about a nation with one, or two or even a dozen bombs when we have thousands of such war heads which can be delivered in a wide variety of different ways? not to mention defensive capabilities of the US and Israel make it even more unlikely a strike by Iran would be effective. the only thing Iran achieves in joining the ranks of the nuclear armed is the certain knowledge that if they ever used it, it would be to there own certain destruction as they would loose any such confrontation, and loose badly.
the "debate" in DC over Iran's nuclear program is a lot of hype and propaganda and very little substance, we the people of the US have very little to fear from the Islamic Republic of Iran. the idea that they somehow represent a direct threat to the US is nothing more than democin, rebuplicrat political scaremongering in order to get the people in line with the idea that we all must continue to sacrifice more money, more freedoms and more blood upon the alter of homeland security.
I guess today in the US we have patsies who will blindly believe in any boogieman the MSM and DC decide to throw under your bed.
Cite just one example of anyone here suggesting it's a god idea that Iran have nuclear weapons and America have none. Just one.
You sound like another ignorant, paranoid Chicken Little. Here we are with N. Korea & Pakistan both w/weapons that they don't mind sharing (selling), and we are trying to start a war with Iran. What's the difference......other than oil?
I've said it before and I will say it again. Iran needs to get nukes, they seem to be the only deterrent for being invaded by America.
They have them, Their nuclear facilities are for energy only, it has been confirmed by the IAEA just recently. Now recently they convienently changed their report and story. Bottom line they don't need to take 5 years to make one, they can just buy it. Here is some good info.
http://nucleardiner.com/blogs/?p=211&option=com_wordpress&Itemid=101
John Bolton is in his glory beatin the war drum.
Where is Jack Bauer when ya need him? LOL
Who cares if Iran has a nuke warhead, I have news for you, they could / did buy them off the Russian Black Market 3 years ago just need the ICBM or S-300 / Shabab delivery system. If you want something more important to look into, find out why this happened.
http://leejohnbarnes.blogspot.com/2011/12/israel-caught-selling-missiles-to-china.html
Now, who is screwing who?
Israel has nukes and there not considered a "Super Power" but Iran is now by proxie of running OPEC and refusing the USDX.
Hope that helps.
-JP
There are veterans of the intelligence community that firmly believe Iran has ALREADY purchased nuclear warheads in approximately 2003 from another country, either Pakistan or Ukraine. I don't know if this is true, but it is an interesting thought.
What if the US knows this and is horrified at the thought of word getting out that Iran has had them for 9 years and hasn't used them yet! Then the neocons would be screwed and would have to come up with some other bogeyman. Then we wouldn't have an excuse to attack Iran for the REAL reason, which is of course, OIL.
The arms race in the middle east began when Israel got the bomb.
Iran has every right to defend itself as does Israel...the problem is Iran sits on trillions of dollars of glorious oil that the west desperately needs and will do what it takes to take it..
Now do you see why Iran insists on having the bomb? It's their only hope it's the you can't fuck with me card
Maybe a big part of it is that Iran will not take dollars for oil.
Aaaannd.. Bingo was his name Oh!!
Saddam pulled that shit and he was killed within 2.5 weeks.
Maybe a big part of it is that Iran will not take dollars for oil.
Iran have been on the cusp of developing nuclear weapons since 1974.
If I was them though, i'd be loading up their shahab 3 ballistic missile warheads with yellowcake as the next best thing.
"How many times have we sent them a message that we don't want them developing nuclear weapons? About a zillion--to no effect. So far, they've played us like a violin. It floors me that some ZHers appear to believe that the world is better off with Iran having nukes."
Dude, turn off the FAUX, CNN or whatever channel it is that has you spewing and parroting such an ignorant diatribe.
Hasn't this same bill of goods not sold to the world before with the non-existent WMD's in Iraq? Yes, it has. Anything or any lie to sell another war for profit and you're their cheerleader.
As corporate media continues to demonize Iran, and "groom" the American public into acceptance of the concept that war MUST be fought against it for innumerable reasons, please remember: Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction. That was simply the lie the Bush administration used to get the American public to buy the necessity for the invasion and occupation of Iraq.
FYI...Iran already allows inspectors in at their nuclear power plant and all of it's supporting facilities in full accord with the terms of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. It is Israel that refuses all inspections and refuses to sign the NPTT.
Iran is a signatory to the NNPT, which means that its nuclear sites are inspected regularly by the IAEA. To date, and I mean, as of 26 December, 2011, the IAEA has found absolutely no diversion of nuclear material whatsoever.
Of course, the reality that the IAEA inspectors of Iran's nuclear facilities (they are signatories to the NNPT: Israel is NOT) have found no nuclear material unaccounted for; that Iran is enriching uranium only to 20%, necessary for the production of medical isotopes, and not the 95% necessary for creating a nuclear bomb, is of no relevance here.
And why?!? Because Israel has declared Iran to be an "existential threat" to Israel's existence, and must be "neutralized" - with American blood, and American money, of course.
And of course, we have all seen how well "neutralizing" Israel's former "existential threat", Iraq, has gone. The blood and money spent on this immoral and illegal war, absolutely boggles the mind. And what did the US actually gain from this? Nothing but oil development deals for EXXON-MOBIL. This was a publicly funded war, ultimately for private profit.
I would like to hope that those in the bowels of power in Tel Aviv and DC might be able to come up with a far more rational approach to Iran; one which might include dialogue, rather than threats, which may well escalate into a world war.
However, such a war may not go well for the US at all here, and these are the reasons why:
1. The US has lost the ability to manufacture critically needed components for the war supply-chain,because most of that manufacturing has been outsourced. For this reason, unless there is a highly successful "blitzkrieg"-style attack, the US military cannot endure a sustained combat here for any significant length of time.
2. An attack against Iran would rally the Iranian people around its current leadership against such an invasion.
3. With US troop strength stretched to nearly beyond capacity, we don't have enough troops on the ground to make such an invasion successful, and even if the draft was re-implemented, there would not be enough soldiers turned out of basic training in time to succeed here.
4. No lender in their collective right mind, looking at the US government's 15 trillion dollar deficit would even think about lending the US money to pursue this military misadventure, not even at the most usurious rates possible.
"There's always another fool out there."
And that 'fool' is you. Simple and true. No foresight and foaming-at-the-mouth the whole way you go.
If a draft were implemented whoever had the resources would send their kids overseas. The rest would join the war protesters. Contrary to the beliefs of most people on this board, Americans do not want their kids involved in foreign wars for oil. They see through the media propaganda. Why do you think Obama just authorized a police state?
We don't have to occupy Iran or take their oil. We just have to turn their nuclear facilities into rubble. Give our existing weapons stockpile, this will be relatively cheap.
rbg81, assuming the we bullshit:
What with this we bullshit? We don't have to do a damned thing, because the phantom atomic bogeymen are in your head.
...because human life, whether American or Iranian, is worthless anyway, right?
I gave you as green 'coz you looked unhappy in red (and thars an element of truth in wot you said)
I have to laugh when people start comparing Iran to Germany, and somehow that folks who don't want to waste American blood and treasure on that hell hole are akin to Chamberlain. Pre WW2 Germany and Japan were emerging industrial giants while Iran's industrial capability amounts to not much more than making rugs. They are not a significant threat to US security. The only thing they are guilty of is a bit of over the top anti-Israel political rhetoric and sitting on a bunch of oil. Apparently, for the neocons, those crimes are enough to warrant our aggression. I think our greed and arrogance is setting us up for a fall. China and Russia will not sit idle on the sidelines. They will be brought together in support of Iran. This Iranian conflict will lead to a much more dangerous escalation, perhaps a global conflict for which the outcome is uncertain. Starting a war with Iran is foolish and dangerous.
Same arguments were used 8 years ago to rally the public into the war against Iraq - compare to Germany, manufacture threat of WMD, accuse them of being involved in the 9-11 attacks. It's exactly the same script, seems they just swapped a 'Q' for an 'N',and changed 'WMD' to 'nuclear weapons'.
This speaks volumes about the those in power - either they're very uncreative, or they have an extremely low opinion of their target audience.
I'm not anti iranian but you should see some of their indigenous tech and their basij militias and irgc in parades. they ride chinese motorcycles, dress in black masks and carry air guns. I swear i saw the pic a few months ago. the people in their military forces are the poorest people they can find from the boonies. they join because of food, clothes, shelter and a little bit of cash. Iran is not a threat to israel or the united states. their indigenous tanks are a joke, their self manufactured planes are laughable. their armaments industry in circa ww2.
dont get me wrong tho, we attack them, they will still kick our asses on their own soil just like the vietnamese, iraqis and afpakis did and are.
look at these pictures and be very very afraid! BOO!

Really?? you're afraid of that guy attacking davenport? or tel aviv? or doha? or riyadh?
make friends with iranians and you'll see they are very kind people. just like most of us americans can be. try to separate the .gov form the people on all sides.
stop knee jerking.
That fat guy is carrying a paint ball gun, which contains CS capsules for riot control.
And since you think they'd send him into a lead slinging contest makes it easier for me to read the opinions of more knowledable posters.
Thanks.
Given the context, and after making the observation that the world would be better off if no-one had nuclear weapons, yes, it would be better if Iran had a bomb.
if Iran was able to create a MAD balance with Israel, then Israel would have to give up her insane territorial ambitions, recognize an independent Palestinian state, accpet peace in the Middle East, and we couild all get on with figuring out how to develop some sort of energy, alternative to oil.
But no! This would all be too rational. We must support Israel's nuclear terrorism over her neighbors, her theft of our secrets, her madness in her insane goal to acquire the west bank and the temple mount, all so that it becomes fucking inevitable that an atomic war will be fought in the middle east, just so that Iran is denied an atomic bomb.
Makes perfect fucking sense, doesn't it?
I get it now! Ron Paul acolytes are reincarnated from dead concentration camp guards. In your heart of hearts you all would have wished that the Final Solution would have been Final, down to every last Jew on Earth.
You Ron Paul guys are despicable, spouting your support for Iran, a despotic, terror-spreading theocracy, while wishing to have the Arabs throw Israel, (a democracy), into the sea.
Your twisted minds have a masochistic bent that won't stop. Do you want to survive AND fight for what is left of the constitution. Or do you just want to whine about the cabals of jewish banksters.
We can't reform the government, if we don't have access to resources or if the Gulf blows up from a Nuclear Arms Race. Permanent shortages will lead to permanent martial law.
You appear to lack the ability to discern between, among other things, Jews and Zionists. The Jews of the world are being victimized by Zionism as much as anyone else. You're probably one of those dupes that falsely believes Jews and Moslems have been at each others' throats for centuries. I suppose that the Moslems that sheltered their Jewish neighbors from the bloodthirsty "Christian" crusaders must have been infidels. If that is too ancient for you, then I defy you to explain this:
http://www.sephardicstudies.org/iran.html
Also, fuck democracy. Germany in the 1930s was a democracy. Democracy is mob rule, nothing more. There is nothing magic or special about it.
While spewing your spittle-laden vitriol, you failed to notice that worldwide resource shortages will result from attacking Iran. This will affect the entire world, not just the United States, and the United States will rightfully deserve the blame that it gets for the consequences.
Because the consequences would be so profoundly negative, only someone that hates the United States would want to see it attack Iran. Why do you hate the United States?
Iran hates the United States, The Great Satan, (a sentiment that you no doubt agree with). We either take them on now or later, later will be much worse. There are no easy answers, just as there was with Hitler. Should the allies have moved on him during the events of 1936, 1938 before he and his Nazi minions were ready to go to full-scale war? In retrospect, the answer would be yes.
We have no retrospect with this situation, but just like with Hitler we see what they are doing and what they are saying. And they are doing so in an unrelenting way, and have done so for decades whether we were passive or active in response to their destructive, destabilizing activities.
I hate the fact that this coming war will empower Obummer, and that it may be the end of the Republic. Hamas and Hezbollah sleeper cells will shoot things up, bombs will go off, and Obummer will declare martial law. And we may never emerge from it, especially with the possibility of a full-blown financial collapse as a consequence.
Our choices are Bad and Badder. But, regardless, war and financial collapse are coming within the next few years whatever we do.
I have read the Koran and have traveled extensively in the Middle East. And I know the History of that region backwards and forwards. And "forwards" is what we have to be worried about. Jews, regardless of whether they are orthodox, zionist, etc., are all at extreme risk and will be exterminated, if they surrender.
gnomon, repeating programmed and instructed beliefs since it is far easier and less painful than thinking, said:
Wrong. The Iranian people generally admire America, although I'd certainly understand if that admiration has been waning lately. Iranians certainly fear and distrust the United States government, which, given recent events, is entirely understandable.
As regards the United States government, I'd find it hard to disagree with such a description. A government hell bent on exporting its particular brand of fraud, theft, hypocrisy, extortion, torture, terror, and murder sure isn't on the side of the angels.
We? We? Don't include me in your paranoid delusions. Iran and the Iranian people are not my enemy. I have more to fear from my own government than I do Iran.
Here we go again. It always comes back to Hitler, doesn't it? Did you get your understanding of the world from the cartoon channel, or from one of the various media which are even less credible as news sources?
Let's look 75 years down the road and, assuming that the human race hasn't exterminated itself by then, reframe the question for the year 2087:
Should the world have tried to stop the United States in 2012 before its fascist rulers provoked a third world war and left a large part of the globe uninhabitable?
We? Stop including me in your frightened, cowering, pants-pissing view of the world. I see what they are doing and saying. They are enriching uranium to levels needed for power generation and medical purposes, far below the level needed for any weapons, in accordance with their rights and obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. They have said that they are open to diplomatic negotiations regarding their atomic research, and the United States has turned its back on them, refusing to discuss anything unless Iran ceases activity which is permitted under the NNPT. The sanctions imposed on Iran are the tactics of a bully.
The United States government is the entity which has been threatening, invading, occupying, torturing, and murdering. If you insist on bringing up Hitler, keep in mind that our own government is the bad guys this time. If you can't see the difference between the nation of the United States and the government of the United States, then you're a big part of the problem.
In other words, we're going down, so as we do, let's give the rest of the world a good reason to forever despise us. If you have your way, a century from now, if humanity still exists, Godwin's law will be about invoking America as the ultimate evil instead of Hitler.
Bullshit.
Surrender to whom? What are you even talking about? Do your wretched thoughts have even a tangential connection to reality? Did you even read the following page?
http://www.sephardicstudies.org/iran.html
No, you didn't read it, because you already know everything, as confirmed to you by the people who tell you what to think and what opinions to hold. Just remember, when you call for the extermination of Iran, among the millions of people you seek to murder are Iranian Jews.
Why do you want to murder Jews?
Brilliant. Period.
I regret that I have but one upvote to give this post.
You really don't GET IT, do you? You don't know that the bankers and industries fund both sides of ALL wars....just like they helped fund Hitler from OUR banks.
The globalist bankers are the clear and present danger....all others are just the pawns on Zbiggy's "grand chess board".
Your understanding of history is simplistic, romantic, and honestly a fairy tale you read in high school textbooks courtesy of the Tavistock Institute (Bernays, Lippman, Lewin). You really should read John Coleman's book, "The Tavistock Institute of Human Relations". You will then realized how your entire foreign policy construct has been methodically developed through purposeful and false propaganda to SHAPE public opinion and achieve an ultimate goal.
"Hamas and Hezbollah sleeper cells will shoot things up, bombs will go off, and Obummer will declare martial law."
Sleeper cells! Of course! Village idiots will be given US visa's to become second-hand car dealers for a decade or so.
Trust gnomon to know this from his "extensive travels" in Hamas-' and Hizbullah-land. And knowing ME-history "forward".
Exactly so, gnomon and succintly put. But you still get more reds...lot of Jew haters on ZH, aren't there? Wonder why.
PS gramer check: Bad and worser. But I still gave you a green.
@ThefourthStooge-ing
+1
Thank you.
Give it up, gnomon. You & I are but flickering lights of rationality in the darkness & ignorance of Jew-hating ZH-ers. Darkness wins.
Successfully invading and occupying countries should be regarded as so passe, when has it ever worked and even if it did, what exactly are the benefits?
When has it ever worked?????
Here in the USA
BENEFITS???????

These are all schedueled and announced tests, move on people, nothing to see here
Ok, so we now have 6,786 nuclear war heads/missiles to Iran's possible future one head, which may or may not even function.
Why would Goldman do that? Wouldn't you want to get long oil if 9% of the worlds supply was interrupted by a war?
Which is exactly what the big G would do...(while some unfortunate accocunts that rely on the advice, irregardless of the track record of their broker, would be selling) but maybe not necessarily what they would be advising the readers of their investment letters to do. You will find countless examples of the success of the strategy of following their advice, on many previous posts here.

obama said that by the time an issue reaches his desk, it is because the vast federal bureaucracy could not figure it out, and that he was the only one who had the intellectual chops to take it on. I sleep better knowing that such a man is running the country.
the us educational system is the best in the world. it will continue to crank out product which will create the NEXT greatest generation.
and so on.
the us ag industry is the envy of the world. americans are the best fed people in the history of the world and carry huge caloric surpluses. WHile china also has a surplus, it is in fiat unlike the american surplus which is carried on the body. gmo products allow all to be fed. monsanto, cargill, adm and others work in a selfless capacity.
american women support their families and husbands, allowing them to compete in a very relaxing work environment. There is so much demand for workers, many are accosted at their place of work with new and better job offers. american wives set a standard of love of family and selflessness, which is the envy of the developed world.
the federal reserve sets policy to encourage job creation and keep inflation at a minimum. over 100 years, they have been very successful at doing just that. a selfless group of men volunteer their time and efforts for very little compensation so that the federal government does not have to take on the burden of money creation and allocation! This allows congress to take on more important work...such as creating new laws to make sure americans don't have too much freedom or become terrorists.
the tsa, after its many successes in stopping airline hijackings and such, are taking their success on the road. now they will stop terrrorists in train stations, public highways, buses and other well known terrorist hideouts. they are also asking the friends and neighbors of terrorists to make reports as often as possible.
the stock markets and precious metals markets are not manipulated whatsoever. there are no market interventions.

America, home of the land, free of the brave.
The brave will die in the next non war, probably Iran, because they don't know who the enemy is.
The TRUE brave will be the ones that stand up to the corruption and tyranny, no matter how many names they are called!
holy Smoke Fourth Stooging, that is crazy., If original, hat's off.
ori
I can't claim credit for "home of the land, free of the brave" because I think I heard or read it, or a variant thereof, somewhere last year.
Nevertheless, I will take credit for noticing, as no doubt have others, that the last line of the first verse of "The Star Spangled Banner" asks a question, the answer to which is now a most emphatic 'no':
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
Nice post; deserves a montage.
Always fade out on a montage,
If you fade out it seems like more time has passed in a montage...

Stop oil flowing? Who can they ship it to? Maybe I misread the NDAA part about Iran, but isn't any interaction with them subjecting yourself to US retaliation?
If I was Russia or China I would give the Iranian central bank some low interest loans and see what the US does about it. Maybe test fire some of their own rockets... Maybe the US will stop them from buying US Treasuries.. Looks like we are near the endgame move for European Private Central Bank consolidation of the World.
Yes. Very critical point, and that was my understanding, too. I have been looking for some response from either of them to this latest hubristice legislation & I hope both tell our illustrious Sinators and President to fuck off & they will buy oil from anyone they want to.
Rumors of wars will eventually become just "wars"!
Plan and prepare accordingly!

Brent crude, bitchez!
US needs to step up cash bribes before Pakistan allows Iran an oil pipeline to India. Iran almost surrounded by US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Pakistan is the wild card.
Um... yeah, back to ORI's original statements (you are vindicated ori!) at the beginning of the thread, when he was so voilently and unreasonable junked.
VISCERAL.
Don't underestimate it.
It's a growing sub-meme.
"if they [Goldman] tell clients to dump Brent, we are probably minutes away from full out war. Until then, the foreplay will continue."
That is hilarious because it is true.
Iran is buying cranes. Apparently, that is necessary equipment for hanging infidels or anybody that is against the government including the occasional CIA agent. :-)

I wished the US and Iran would do it already. It is like watching two guys talk smack in the parking lot for about two hours. Iran knows what happened in Iraq and Afghanistan. They know that if the US has them in for them, they better dig the trenches right away.
Handbags at ten paces.
War? No War? At least when gas hits $7 it will thin traffic, which with the generation that spawned the baby boomers now in it's 70-90s is moving rather slow these days. When will they enact mandatory annual testing for senior drivers? Can't be too soon. The argument about Iran and war is as futile and pointless as the bitching about GS or bipolar politics masquerading as a real choice, by the time Eisenhower warned us of the possible threat to freedom by the military-industrial complex it was already too late. Now add in 3.5 billion more mouths to feed since then by totally irresponsible breeders and we have a perfect recipe for global wars. Like with "climate change," energy and Iran are not the problem, the population is the problem. Till you all learn to plan your reproduction responsibly it is only going to get worse, and Ori, India is the worst offender on the planet in this matter.
If you really believe that overpopulation tripe, go kill yourself. Certainly I can't be the first one to offer you this suggestion.
You are an ugly man you know that?
If you don't have anything constructive to say, Don't say anything.
The ONLY problem I have with Ron Paul is something he is entirely blameless for - the high numbers of testerone-crazed, foam-at-the-mouth, shoot-to-killers he attracts. I understand the reason - diffuse psychotic anger is rampant in this country. I am more than slightly pissed myself. But angry people who allow others to choose their targets for them are being manipulated by the very people and institutions they claim to hate. May I suggest that everyone take a deep breath, decide calmly exactly who the enemy is, and then craft some kind of effective response. Spewing vitriol at your computer screen is not effective. Expressing your anger in ALL CAPS is not effective. Name-calling is third-grade silly, and empty threats are the sign of bullying cowards. The question is what, if anything, can actually be done to derail this deliberate escalation toward war. I'm afraid I don't have an answer, but I refuse to stop seeking one.
I still like the idea of a giant asteroid on a path to earth rendezvous this fall. Maybe the only answer is the complete elimination of humans by an outside force, because when we humans try it ourselves the worst of us always seem to survive.
Um... an idea. Have US citizens start a massive movement simply stating that the current war-monger, fascist state is completely rogue and doesn't reflect of anybody who is willing to stand up and say so. Staying silent in hope no longer is an option and never really was if you ask me. Start slowly until the movement is big enough to bring the country to a standstill.
That would be a start.
Good idea. Then watch those citizens be classified as terrorist sympathizers or worse and locked away without seeing a judge, thanks to all the new laws being passed.
Dear GeneMarchbanks - Ghandi would approve, and as you know, he was quite effective.
So, carrying your idea forward - what form could non-violent mass resistance take that would (1) attract an overwhelming majority of people to participate and (2) not enable the police state to pick us off one at a time and (3) be effective at returning the government to the people?
I'm open, as I'm sure many others are also. Where is our Ghandi, and what will his idea be? ( And how can we be absolutely sure he/she is not a Hitler in disguise.)
We don't need a Ghandi. We need 50,000 Ghandi-like people. A simple, concise document that is well researched and points out the inconsistencies(of which there are many) of policy of the recent past. Economic, foreign and domestic. Simply saying: These have been the crimes of the past and we don't stand for them and demand a discussion and reform. No compromise.
Time to do the work of citizenship is here.
50K Ghandi like people to point out the inconsistencies of the past policies, you funny man.. Are the FEMA centers short of warm bodies or??
Think about it this way... what if the peace-loving, self-effacing and modest Ron paul were replaced with someone who also had a coherent plan, but was a lot more aggressive? You know, someone just a shade under the average height, with a little moustache, or a pointy beard?
There is a lot of diffuse anger out there. Ron Paul is the perfect lightning rod to conduct it all safely to ground. If RP isn't elected, the next guy to effectively channel that lightning- anger will start a fire- a big fire.
Anger is better than ignorance, denial, or apathy. Where has those three things lead us thus far? Let's have some more anger please.
Shadow governtment string puller #1 to shadow government puller #2: "Find some schmutz, any schmutz, on Ron Paul. And if that doesn't work, see that he has a 'heart attack' or something. Cannot let our Iran war preparations be jeopardized by some loon."
And... be sure to tell the boys at the investment banks to go long oil futures. We will push the Iranians to close the shipping routes. When crude hits $200 sell!
Someone has to step in and fill the "test firing missiles void" left by the death of Kim Jong Il.
CPL.
I will bet you a troy ounce of gold (physical) that my air conditioner works in 2 years.
Post your response as well as real name and email address and I will post mine.
I should hope so! And if you can't get it fixed by then you should consider just buying a new one.
Hey how about this bet, Einstein? I will bet you 1000 oz Au that we are not all killed in an Earth-rending cataclysm by the end of this year.
Why would I need another ounce of gold?
How about we see if there is spare enough power in the electrical grid to allow websites to run?
See what we are communicating on? Huge power pig. Requires massive amounts of power to keep cool and keep running. Power goes out, so does all this. It doesn't run by magic. It runs on electricity.
The governments of the world will shut you out of the power grid before they give up data centers btw. Can't automate the processing of communications and taxes without it.
Next summer rolling black outs across the US and not at night. It should make anyone in palliative care very nervous.
There are better options then outright war. Why don't we just sic Goldman Sacs on them? Everyone knows they want what we got (dollars), and we want what they got (oil). Let them join the club, and Bernie can print them a few worthless dollars for their black gold. That sounds like a win-win to me.
until such time as the US ships stationed in Bahrain say enough and decide it is time to sink some boats.
Which would then block the shallow straits
The SofH are not that shallow (240 ft) or that narrow (over 90 miles wide), however weather or not they physically block the SofH is academic, the insurance carriers for the ships will not write a policy for the vessels to transit into those waters. No insurance, no shipping....
This is a great web site by a insurance law firm that shows pictures of various claims, well worth a quick look see. My all time favorite is Riding down the Marquis, scroll down till you get to the picture of the boat hitting the water .. look at the guy on the back of the transom of the boat.. son that's why you never ride the load.

the Federal Reserve will just write the policy
thanks. i had read it was only 33 meters in some places and that sinking a cruiser there would block the straight.
Finally, it seems Iran's only WMD is blocking the straits... which in effect creates an oil embargo. (Keep thinking about that pipeline to pakistan- something there I think) Oh well, sampson options abound.
I think it would be trivially easy for us to find WMDs in Iran.
Just let them announce that henceforth their oil will be priced in gold rather than in US dollars, and we'll find WMDs hiding inside every hammam.
Can anybody help me out with one detail here? You know folks, all I know is what I read on the Internet.
When the Iranians say "This missile can hit Israel" are they boasting about its range, or its accuracy?
neitherr, they are inadvertantly revealing their priorities
Self defense if a worthy priority.
unless, of course, the people defendig themselves are buddhist in bangladesh, or christians in pakistan, or copts in egypt, or christians in albania, or hindu in malaysia, or jews in israel or anywhere else. then the left is silent or it blames the victims.
But you're not talking to a leftist. So your point was...?
my point was and is
A. you are a hypocrite
B. you have nothing original to add to the discussion
C. you only contribute sniping at others and word games
D. you are an ass.
reminds me of saddam and his dud scud. But Iran is not saddam. They are more efficient. They beat saddam inspite of western support during 1980s war.

"Goyim were born only to serve us. Without that, they have no place in the world – only to serve the People of Israel."
-Rabbi Ovadia Yosef
I can't imagine most Jews believe this. It only proves that Judaism isn't exempt from fundamentalist crazies, just like Islam and Christianity. You might say Jews say they are they chosen people but Muslims believe that Muhammad was the seal of the prophets and that is the end and Islam is the best, and Christians believe only they go to heaven. In fact, the Rabbi who said that is a member of the Shas party in Israel and it is being opposed by the vast number of secular Israelis in relation to their practices of separating genders. He's an extremist.
The New Age also have their "special" adepts, and even the pure Eastern religions have their hierarchy of insiders vs masses. To only focus on the monotheistic religions would be inaccurate.
I agree. But it is necessary to show that the dispute in the Middle East is not one of a sane, peace loving people against a society that is monolithically extremist. Muslim extremism can be matched quote for quote with the words of extremist Jews and Christians.
Yeah, I lie awake all night hoping no jew, buddhist or falun gong will take down my airplane when I travel. muslims are just a tiny percent of the extremists trying to force others to adopt their religion. yeah, right.
More people die by slipping in their bath tubs than die in terrorist attacks. I don't lay awake nights sweating in trepidation over confronting either of those uncommon fates. Have you ever considered the possibility that your unreasonable fears are part of a larger disorder? Could it be that your desire to kill, kill, kill is a defect on your own part and not the fault of someone else?
yeah but how many bathtubs engage in extremist views?
so by your logic if fewer people die of terrorism than falls, assuming that is true, we should not investigate the motivation of terrorists? That those who die at the religious extremeist hands are just another victim with no broader implication to peaceful society than statistics surrounding bathtubs?
Who gave you the right to claim that I have a desire to kill? My desire is not to be killed, not to kill. And I have 1,400 years of islamic history and 50 years of american liberal logic to back up my belief that you are in denial and are the one with the disorder.
But I am not a liberal. You are a seriously confused in addition to being a homicidal maniac.
I could make an exception for you, that's true.
check out the 8 and counting nut jobs who voted my post down; my post contains no words from me only ahmidinijad in his own words, yet they vote me down for calling attention to his message. Facists all, these leftists aligned with islam.
Here's your chance to down vote the dictionary:
fas·cist[fash-ist] Show IPA noun
1.
a person who believes in or sympathizes with fascism. 2.
( often initial capital letter ) a member of a fascist movement or party. 3.
a person who is dictatorial or has extreme right-wing views.
fascism, the melding of religion, military and dictatorial powers. That would be islam. And the lackeys that lick their thighs

I love Zerohedge, the blog. My absolute favorite news source, and news analysis.
I had, for months, avoided the comment sections, completely over run with conspiracy kooks, racists, anti-semites, and just plain stupid people. Wipe the food off your chin please.
I like Zerohedge's take on the news, cynical and conspiratorial. It seems right. It makes sense. It connects the dots across the political, economic, military, and social realms.
But the comments section? Oh my fucking god! Let me attempt to summarize the belief system of the typical Zerohedge comment writer:
1. 20 million Jews control every event on a planet of 7 billion people.
2. Of the 20 million Jews now living, about 6 million Jews live in Israel, a Nation the size of the City of Chicago. These 6 million Zionists (meaning, they believe they have a right to their own country) are oppressing and controlling their 300 million friendly Arab and Persian neighbors who control a land area the size of Europe and have oil revenues of trillions of dollars per year.
3. Israel must be destroyed because Jews are the spawn of Satan and are occupying land that belongs to the 22 other Arab/Islamic countries in the region. The Jews have no historical claim to Israel or Jerusalem (other than 3000 years of recorded history and the Bible).
4. The 6 million Jews in America control all the key political, financial and social lynch pins of a country of 300 million people. Everything that is bad about America is a Jews fault. If the Jews would just fade into the background, America would be perfect, just like it was before the 1960s, before Jews were allowed to do a few things without overt discrimination.
5. It is clear from world history that a few million Jews have ruined the societies, economies, and culture of billions of people for all of recorded history, and they continue to do so to this day. Look at Ben Bernanke, destroying the US Dollar. Jew bastard. Except he's following the same monetary policies that started in Japan 20 years ago by Japan's Central bank, in the face of a similar financial crisis. And the European Central Bank is also monetizing its debt. I bet the Japanese and European Central banks are controlled by Jews somehow. We know how much the Japanese and Europeans love Jews.
6. Forget about the Jews, we all know a few million of them completely control all the key countries and policies of the entire world, seeking to oppress all who stand in their path of complete global domination. You can see how fabulous a life these Jews live in Israel, having to fight war after war to avoid extermination at the hands of their oppressed Muslim neighbors will trillions in oil wealth. We also know that America is an evil country run by greedy evil men who seek to enslave and rape the world for it's own enrichment.
7. If evil America hadn't interfered with WWI or WWII the benevolent Germans would have controlled all of Western Europe and life would have been so much better for the French and the Belgians and the Spanish and the Polish, etc. Hitler was misunderstood.
8. Obviously Iran needs nuclear power and nuclear weapons because they lack oil to fuel their cars, and they have to protect themselves from the evil Jews of Israel and the Jew controlled Americans. Of course, the evil Jews of Israel or America could have nuked Iran into the stone age 30 years ago after the Islamist revolution had they wanted to. But now Iran needs to Nuke up and strike pre-emptively.
9. Sure the President of Iran sounds like a raving lunatic hell bent on bringing back the 12th Imam through the creation of world wide death, destruction and war. But he's misunderstood by the Jew media, just like Hitler. Totally misunderstood. He doesn't say what he says, and he doesn't mean what he says. Give the guy a break.
10. Obviously, the benevolent dictators of the Middle East demonstrate that with the imposition of strict Islamic law, Shariah law, life is indeed a bountiful paradise. As long as you are a heterosexual Islamic male content to live in a tent and each grubs. If you're not a heterosexual Islamic male you'll be treated like a slave, with no rights, subject to random beatings, rape, imprisonment, or death. But tough shit. It's Shariah baby.
11. In the end there is Love, Life and Creation, or Hate, Death and Destruction. Pick your side. And it's usually not difficult to determine which side the other guy/country/religion has picked.
You like the conspiratorial ZeroHedge, but not the conspiatorial kooks that comment?
Dude, it's Fight Club. Go eject the Hard Day's Night dvd and watch Fight Club. If you want your comments moderated by some 22 year old muff-diving women's studies major from Wellesly, go comment on the AtlanticMonthly website.
The truth is, if that's what he thinks, then television should be more than adequate for his news.
On the Other Hand, why so many negative ratings? I thought I did a reasonable job in summarizing the vast majority of your belief systems. You guys say this same shit day in and day out, year in and year out.
By the way, Rules 1 and 2: There is no fight club.
I will go out on a limb here and say the negative ratings are due to your long-winded, uninformed, jew rant. If you're going to cry the internets a river about how jews are oppressed and picked on, at least make an attempt to really understand the people you are trying to troll.
When trying to sell a group of people on Hymietown, you must grasp, and should probably discuss in a compare and contrast manner, all of the following(at the very least): Jews, Israelite, Zionist, Khazar, Ashkenazi, Hebrew, Semitic, and maybe even The Transfer Agreement for good measure.
Anyhow, the real reason you got junked is because nobody cares about Israel. By that I mean, sure, the vast majority of individuals don't wish harm on Israel, but they also don't want to send their children off to die fighting wars for the benefit of that state. Making enemies out of oil rich trade partners for the benefit of some religious whackadoos in Tel Aviv and DC makes no sense, particularly at a time when the USA is broke and people at home are suffering plenty(read: the foreign aid and war machine money could be much better spent).
Well said Conrad. well said. Also, instant karma, I agree with some of your analysis but when you get to Iran and nukes you lose me. Why shouldn't Iran want to pursue a policy of cleaner energy than burning all their oil and gas? It's diversification. Moreover, they lack refining capacity, hence the need for nuclear energy. There is also the issue of status: if you join the nuclear club, it will be harder for other countries to isolate it. I just don't belive that if iran got a nuke they would use it. It would be like all other countries and it would use it as a defensive weapon. They're not crazy.
That's good you spanked your impulsive and unruly friend, I think he will learn something from it.
Furtermore, there is a group called Jews for Ron Paul. The guy that started it has a blog. He feels that the US should not/not have to intervene on behalf of Israel, nor dictate Israel's foreign policy (even though it many times is the other way around). He says that Israelis can take care of themselves, and that they do not want our foreign aid, as it is not morally right and is ultimately subversive of Israel's sovereignty.
Needless to say, I was quite surprised at this guy. But pleasantly so....
My take is that the cast can be separated into three groups: The NWO leaders in both countries, the citizenry that is brainwashed by their leaders' propaganda, and the free citizens who want nothing that the first two groups desire.
"Instant karma" is exactly what your post has harvested in down-arrows.
Your eleven points are exactly the caricatures that the MSM has created over the years and that most ZH readers have emancipated themselves from.
Speaking for myself, I do not have a "belief system" about the Middle East. I have specialist knowledge and I respond to Iran blog posts, because that is my area and I can contribute.
I also care about human rights and justice, which puts me in the "critical towards Israel" camp.
Your strawmen-labels are insulting. Follow this link for some enlightenment on the connection between anti-semitism and zionism: Herzel and Zionism - Rabbi Amnon Yitzhak - YouTube
I don't have time to watch a 90 minute foreign language video on Herzel and Zionism. Jews built a vast Temple in Jeruselum centuries before Jesus was born, which antedated the founding of Islam by one thousand years. Leave Israel the fuck alone or reap the whirlwind.
That "foreign language" of the Israeli-made video is Hebrew, and is subtitled in English.
Fine, miss the chance to educate yourself. Do some more "extensive travel" in Gaza or the West Bank.
"Leave Israel the fuck alone or reap the whirlwind."
That sounds more like it. Instant karma!
Have you ever heard of the Ottoman Empire? While it's impossible to summarize 400 years of rule in this comment, suffice it to say they had Shariah law - and stability. I'm not saying it was a great place to live in. I'm just wondering if you've ever heard of the Ottoman Empire. Have you?
