not a single person you state has any practical experience outside the classroom, at best they managed a chalkboard and classroom seating arrangements, just like this administration.
Renowned.
Renoun- to noun, then noun again. Sort of like renaming. Like Dr. Krugman to Fuckwit. Like that.
Luv the new moniker hamy
Renouned economic titans? Does that mean they are new or different type of person, place, or thing?...as opposed to a renowned economic titan?
It's quite interesting how most here criticize the intelligence of the American public, but can't seem to use proper grammar and/or spell correctly themselves. Most of you are solipsistic, self aggrandizing mutts with nothing better to do than troll the internet looking for ways to make yourselves feel better. You've all tainted the quality of this site with your shallow remarks and lopsided views. Making money isn't about seeing the obvious; it's about knowing how everyone is going to react to it. Mazel tov....
Krugman is literally an economic ignoramus. I have never read anything by him that would make me think he knew the slightest bit about economics. I haven't read the others, but gauging by the rest of your post... I can only assume they are cheerleaders for the state and economic control. You sir need to open your eyes and see your statists, mercantilistic policies are straight out of the middle ages. They don't work. LEGALIZE competing currencies... and watch the people flee the FRN and the dwindling effectiveness and power of the government.
Hey, million dollar bonehead, it's reknowned. By the way, are you from the above chart?
". . . the most renouned economic titans in the world - Dr Paul Krugman, Alan Blinder, Alan Krueger and Joseph Stigletz."
====================================================
"renouned", huh? Yeah, all those guys need to be renouned. Especially Krugman. I got some great nouns for him.
For goodness' sake......somebody help the boy..........MDBone_Head you can't even spell correctly and there's a f__spell check on this site as you type.
The word you meant is renowned (as in famous) not renouned as in.........you know what, fuck it. YOU ARE THE CHART, dumbass/
Renowned even
Looks like a 6% decline, mostly 30+ years ago.
You misspelled penal. It's penis. This slide at my age is FUN!
why does every discussion we start about improving edgecation, you have to start talking about your penis?
So, that's today's gold chart, right?
Jeeze, the CNBSers were right, headed right to zero.
No, actually, it says; "Please contribute to our campaign to stamp out illiteracy". But, for some reason, not many people are responding to it.
Howard Roark + Ender Wiggin + Jimi Hendrix + Bukowski + Sun Tzu + Harry Potter = #7
The 7 is Awesome.
Comacho for prez. BIATCHEZ
Americas got what plants crave!
Ah, America talks like a fag, and her shit's all retarded.
Don't worry, scrote. There are plenty of 'tards out there living really kick-ass lives. My first wife was 'tarded. She's a pilot now.
Belongs to a "minority", eh?
For shame, I thought you were a nice lady.
"It's got what plants crave!"
Go away! 'batin'
.
Good news. Between the years 500 and 520, our average score increased to 2010 points!
This chart means bullish.
crap 1 min late because I can't read fast enough!
Very Bullish.
Welcome to Cramerica.
How do yu pronounse that worde "SAT"??
Shit-for-brains

america + 50 years = poor
america now = poor, when you consider the debt loads.
most americans just haven't yet woken up to this fact, however.
46,000,000 people by gov math
american + 50 years = please refer to Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (except the setting will be Amerika)...
Since when you start counting.
america + 50 years = poor
Put me down for 20K on the under.
Looks ready to bounce.
Go long Encyclopedia Britannica.
LOL! My family had a very nice set of those back in the day....
We still have ours.
I don't trust all this electronic stuff.
As a kid I read for many hours from the encyclopedia. Lots of time at the library too.
If parents would only give their kids some books and take them to the library every once in a while, it would make high school much easier for the kids. Reading is the mental gateway to everything.
i have a worn set of the 1911 edition
the pain of living and the drug of dreams
curl up the small soul in the window seat
behind the encyclopaedia britannica.
animula - t.s. elliot
Wow, that's great ! The 1911 edition rocks. Google books has lots and lots of books from 1890-1920 whose copyrights are no longer with us, or whatever, they've got some real winners. Free E-books is what I'm struggling to say; you can download them.
Gutenburg Project has about 36,000 ebooks you can choose from.
All free.
But Television; which is what they actually get; is the gateway to mental oblivion.
The human body plastic overlays were the best! (circa 1966)
how do you know? You heard China is going to read for American?
I recommend The Derek Zoolander Center for Kids Who Can't Read Good and Wanna Learn to Do Other Stuff Good Too.
I've got a set that my grandparents had originally. While going through it I found the bill from the doctor for when my father was born in 1934, $6.35, what a deal!
You hang on to them and get the kids to use them for their school work and they won't get the propaganda that's on Wilipedia.
Definitely looks like a head and shoulders has been formed, go long SAT.
U half 2 lern howl 2 ade tu pluz tu to git de solvusion. Dang, r u a dumie r wat?
Ain't nobody never learned you no good english?
There are more than a few dumb MF'ers posting on ZH who voted for the Muslim. I had a good laugh this morning. These union Dem govt worker CS'ers who lived in the neighborhood got evicted and hopefully repo'ed their house.. They had BMWs and Porsches - new ones. One of them worked for Govt and they had Obama 2008 yard signs and were very plugged into the DNC.
Another family of Obama bumbeper sticker CS'ers lost their $1.2 million home on my street. Held on forever like the grifter f**ks they are. I guess the paperwork finally came through a few months ago.
campaign poodling already. We didn't need a corporate stooge and their idiot sidekick from either party?
That's just Freddie. He hasn't figured the "two party" scam yet.
yeah..more people took the SAT this year, instead of just college-bound seniors.
A 500 score on the SAT even in the modern scale is pathetic. So is 520
The demographics have shifted roughly in line with this chart. More blacks and hispanics who don't score as well.
I don't think you're supposed to notice that; I think it's actually illegal to mention it outloud.
Where can I buy and hold both a triple levered long and triple levered short ETF of the SAT verbal score at the same time.....wait maybe we should take a look at our SAT math scores first....
TD
too vague
with our open borders--- break it down further by ethnicity percentages and comparative complexity by year....even region. i suspect these varables have weight.
it's a 3.25% decline in the average score number based on the standard (last I knew) 800 point value for a perfect score. 'Bout 5% if you go off the initial average score.
That the average is ~300 points lower than the perfect is the most telling part, the average score is an F if you are grading on a 100 point scale.
The chart says we need to double spending on government controlled schools...again.
I see a relation to Resessions, and over heated markets, going by the graph. Also a relation to downturn points in Manufacturing.
Duh....
Shit. One nation under fake god.
NOTE THE BUSH EDUCATION RESULTS.
TEST TEST TEST
S/B READ READ READ
Good thing Dems could read the name TURNER in NYC yesterday and last night. LOL!
Yep; that's it alright. But not nearly competitive with India, they have about 15 fake Gods.
tl;dr
From what I've heard you're using your paper not for writing but for rollin' doobies.
http://www.hark.com/clips/dbhfdjvwyy-rollin-doobies
Snorting coke.
Blotter................so many hits.......
The chart just says that people can't read any more. Duh.
I LOL'ed, I cried, then went back to LOL'ing....IDIOCRACY here we are!!
Idiocracy Mash-up - YouTube
SheepDog-One
Um fuck dude you never read C.M. Kornbluth's The Marching Morons.
"The Marching Morons" is a science fiction story written by Cyril M. Kornbluth, originally published in Galaxy in April 1951.
Predates Idiocracy by quite a bit.
And it's doubly ironic because it is a short story.
What does 'ironic' mean? Is it like 'goldic' and 'silvric'?
ironic means "made entirely of iron" ....
So are the hammers basically ironic? I'm still confused...
That's because ironic hammers is science. Fuck science, it's pissin' me off. Science is fucken gay as hell.

Of course I've read it.
go away! 'batin!
Thank Jeebus they lower the SAT testing standards every few years or that chart would look really bad.
Another notch in the belt of the Department of Education.
The institution of "public" education (convincing farmers they were too stupid to educate their children) was the most powerful idea in history to steal the young from their parents and to make those children wards of the state.
Thank goodness for the Teacher's Unions.
Imagine how bad these scores might have been if not for the Unions.
I think we need an IQ tax to redistribute intelligence. That'll be a fair way to solve it.
Randomly distribute the SAT scores each year: it's only fair!
(I mean randomly assign, allocate, attribute).
They are randomly distributed ! They are a gaussian that forms a bell shaped curve ! Basically genetics already did it for you; but thanks anyway.
Dumb and evil, not a good neighbor to have in the world.
Amen.
On NPR after the last Rep. debate, they mentioned Ron Paul's plan to end foreign military excursions. Some stupid ass youngish female idiot adult replied, "I don't like that. I want to fight them over there, not over here."
George Orwell's wonderful quote: "The easy, quick way to end war: loose."
I don't get it.
My Sunday reading scores ar tipicly beater than my saterday scores. I hope dat hellps!
I didn't realize that any further confirmation was required...but it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
One nation...uber dumb.
One nation ...unter dumb.
But if you flip it, it's going up....right?
I'd advise shorting any pops in the IQ chart of america.
Pass this bill, so we can get back to watching American Idol and Jersey Shore. Also, don't bother reading the bill, you wouldn't understand it. Just relax, it was written by top central planners.
This (negatively) correlates nicely with the sales of smartphones.
.....and X-boxes
No worries we have transitioned into a knowledge based economy...and everyone knows in knowledge based economies literacy is optional...Well on the plus side educational standards are positively 3rd world so when we are there economically we will fit in with our 3rd world brothers.
Intellectual and wage parity, the real mission of the central planners.
One of the sadest and most accurate things I've read here.
No worries! Let's just change the tests by eliminating all the hard questions. Kind of like how the government changes the inflation index to exclude all of the things (like gas and food) whose prices are rising.
We're already doing that.
eliminate all questions
if you can sign the paper you pass
They give you 200 points for signing your name, last I heard. I shit you not.
Maybe they should read standing up.
You must use a better scale, it is only down about 5%, that's nothing comparing to the approval rating.
Man somebodies forgets to color in the muthafuckin mountains
Schiff says the same, US education has ruined the young.
Peter Schiff Testifies Before Congressional Jobs Committee Must see Videoout today, classic Schiff, a bit like a modern 'Schiff at the mortgage brokers conference 2006' only this time before congress jobs comm .... excellent
We just need to make learning fun.....like a reality show or maybe 'Conjugating with the Stars'....umm
I loooove the "inner-city" verb form of "conversation:" conversate.
It drives me nuts. My students say it and I must let it ride with a straight face. Not politically correct to correct oh don't cha know!
Edit: I need to add to this post. If it is language that is used by a large number of folks, who am I to impose my standard? Meanwhile, when they are out there in the job market I KNOW WHAT STANDARD WILL BE IMPOSED. There are ways our hands are tied you just don't know.
I just use the space I have to try and teach critical thinking. I think it is all I have the power to do.
Down here in GA, my wife teaches kindergarten, and is FORBIDDEN from teaching kids how to count past 30. Positively ludicrous. How do you test for that? If they can, does she get a knock on her review? Sadly, yes.
That's because 30 is the biggest number. Or is it 24?
20 for girlz and 21 for boyz.
Probably because they'll have to go to carosel at 30 when their crystal turns red and be "reborn"...
Thinking is un-Merkin, dammet! You ain't a terrist is you?
Some do look at me funny. I have been accused of really odd things. So far, I have been able to stay out of trouble. But it really is a consideration. So many things can only be said behind closed doors about what is happening in the academy. To say it out loud brings the wrath of God down on you. I once said in a faculty meeting that we were running a Ponzi scam and I was ashamed to be a part of it. One of my colleagues (who agrees in private) peered into my chair's face when I said it. He puffed up, got awkward, and then ignored me. In private, the story was told over and over. Many of us know damn well what is going on and we are powerless to stop it. I said the same thing to my dean, in private. He asked me what I meant by it. I said folks are getting in debt and they can't get jobs after. He told me I was just wrong and shut me down hard and ugly. I knew I was saying something he had never heard before. But the venom, I could tell that he had whispered it to himself.
I love to teach. Get off on it honestly. I also get off on truth. I cannot tell you how profoundly sad I am to be part of a system just to get a paycheck. I try to mitigate it by telling my students what I honestly see going on with the economy. Maybe they will get their money's worth that way. I don't want to be too arrogant, but they do like me and I do get great reviews, teaching awards, that stuff. But I am not free to just do and be. It is damn cloak and dagger.
Sad to read. I bet you're great, though. Cheers to you.
Thanks. I hope you keep hanging out and posting too. I did the whole MsCreant thing to create a space where I could be bad. Or just be.
I am in a similar spot. Gary North's site is a good place to go - he speaks / writes on this topic a fair amount.
garynorth.com - it has helped me quite a bit.
I have breezed through there before, but will check it out in more depth, thanks.
OMG. Now I feel really bad. That's horrifying. You are so patient and rational; I couldn't t last five minutes in an environment like that. So this is what's going on out there, in "reality", humm. I have to go drink some beer now. I hope it helps.
I like wine. I have had two already.
I vacillate between feeling like a hypocrite and understanding that I am like a retro virus, occupying a site that usually replicates the cannon, and instead, I mutate, and tune them into financial events (charts, theory, history, news) as a way to "demonstrate" principles of my discipline. Sometimes I have just read something on ZH, Mish, or even Denninger (yes he is a douche, but he is a smart one with a lot of great observations) and I will be writing it into my lecture the day before. It is not all bad. But I do need to be careful. I have a strong suspicion that it is like this many places, but folks don't quite label it this way.
Peace
How about like sex?
. all the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre — the man who can most easily (and) adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum. The presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."
-- H.L. Mencken July 26, 1920, wrote in The Baltimore Sun: "+1 while acknowledging that all of those that appreciated that quote are, myself included, pretentious, self-important douchebags.
Video games should be banned.
Fully grown adult male TSA employees sticking their arms up to the elbow up every orifice of six year old children is mandatory for "national security". But banning video games is against the mfn Constitution.
Anyone who doesn't get this is a master plan is lying and/or naive. This is no accident.
Gubmint idealism and censorship should be banned. There, I corrected it for you.
America being Dumb made the wrong decisions in the past.. It got involved in unnecessary wars and ego fights with other nations while in the time being China concentrated only on growth and now threatening US...
To avoid the risks, I follow http://www.forecastfortomorrow.com/ they give an accurate predictions about the market and other happenings
Your post is problematic in so many ways, I don't have the time to enumerate them. Spamming for another website does not usually work for me, advertising accuracy works better when you are aware of grammar, Americans have made few of the decisions about war or egos, talking about China as if they are any better is absurd, I'll stop. I usually tell someone why I junked them if no one else has.
I'm all about insulting the idiot factories, the teachers' unions, and the general level of societal unintellectualism that exists in the U.S., but this chart, assuming that the SAT test difficulty has remained the same, which it may not have, seems to indicate that average scores are down 25 points over 40 years. If, however, you start at 1980, scores are about the same, with a one or two question variation. Not really much with which to make a point, eh?
Oh yeah. And if you don't figure out whether the pool of SAT takers has changed - for example by including more people who are unlikely to go to college regardless of their scores, or students in low income areas who are paid to take the test or who take it as part of normal high school matriculation - then you really aren't looking at meaningful data.
1980? So we've been shit-ass dumb for 30+ years? (Or possibly 40+ years - math was never a strong point.) Not an especially cheering statistic, although it does explain a few things.
The teachers' union is only part of the problem. The other really big part is...you guessed it...government. I would be willing to bet that if you overlayed Federal investments in education with that SAT chart, you would see a DIRECT correlation.
I speak on the matter as a former public and private school teacher.
head and shoulders pattern?
Based on how awful that chart looks I'd be more inclined to say death cross
Oh my...where should I begin here...just a minute...pouring a drink..........
Already half way through my bottle of Johnny Walker Red (here in Uruguay, it's hard to find a bottle of JW Black ... let alone blue)
I rekins I aint gots no time fer no fancy book learnin's, got me a whole stack 'o credik cards to pay off!
Ain't nobody learned you no good financin' skillz? Git yerself more credit cards and use them to pay off yer other cards. Then use them paid off cards to pay off yer new cards. That's high financin' the Merkin way, dammet!
jay leno last night...makes you just shake your head....
http://www.hulu.com/watch/277945/the-tonight-show-with-jay-leno-citizenship-test
Yeah, but you're watching fucking Jay Leno
I've always found it hilarious that trivia is the standard of measurement of a good citizen.
Meanwhile, my home schooled daughter likely wouldn't know most of those answers, but her reading comprehension (and writing skills) are far above most adults (especially grade-school teachers).
Oh, and she'll never prostrate herself in a voting booth, either.
But you'll likely find chopped up body parts in her freezer one day. Give the poor girl a social compass before she goes bundy on my kid.
