It's Official: Obama Is Now The Worst American President As His Approval Rating Plunges Far Below Carter's

Tyler Durden's picture

We doubt many will be surprised by the latest presidential polling update from Gallup, and certainly not the record nearly 50 million Americans on foodstamps, but here it is nonetheless, from US News: "President Obama's slow ride down Gallup's daily presidential job approval index has finally passed below Jimmy Carter, earning Obama the worst job approval rating of any president at this stage of his term in modern political history. Since March, Obama's job approval rating has hovered above Carter's, considered among the 20th century's worst presidents, but today Obama's punctured Carter's dismal job approval line. On their comparison chart, Gallup put Obama's job approval rating at 43 percent compared to Carter's 51 percent." One can only imagine what would happen to Obama's ratings if indeed the Iranian hostage situation escalated and the president was forced to get involved, in addition to oil spiking to "doomsday" levels of course as Pimco's worst case predicts: "Back in 1979, Carter was far below Obama until the Iran hostage crisis, eerily being duplicated in Tehran today with Iranian protesters storming the British embassy. The early days of the crisis helped Carter's ratings, though his failure to win the release of captured Americans, coupled with a bad economy, led to his defeat by Ronald Reagan in 1980." And while some may say this is merely a one time blip, a longer-term average shows otherwise: "Gallup finds that Obama's overall job approval rating so far has averaged 49 percent. Only three former presidents have had a worse average rating at this stage: Carter, Ford, and Harry S. Truman. Only Truman won re-election in an anti-Congress campaign that Obama's team is using as a model." On the other hand, neither Ford nor Carter has such erudite opponents as Herman "I did not sleep with those 999 women" Cain.

Here are the job approval numbers for other presidents at this stage of their terms, a year before the re-election campaign:

  • Harry S. Truman: 54 percent.
  • Dwight Eisenhower: 78 percent.
  • Lyndon B. Johnson: 44 percent.
  • Richard M. Nixon: 50 percent.
  • Ronald Reagan: 54 percent.
  • George H.W. Bush: 52 percent.
  • Bill Clinton: 51 percent.
  • George W. Bush: 55 percent.

That's right. Not one, but both Bushes...

And here it is graphically via Gallup.

on Rasmussen, which is the only real polling place to listen to, his numbers seem to have bottomed out in the -20s for now.

However, his approval there is 39 as well; he's truly a miserable piece of shit President who is completely out of step even with what the public wants to hear.  Killing OBL has already bled right out of his approval and if the economy continues downward like this, he'll slow bleed into the mid 30s.  That's 2nd term Busch country

who cares. most politicians' approval ratings drop after they get elected from overpromising and under delivering. That's the game.

You have interest of a few lobbysts paying you but you need 51% of the vote, so to the rest you tell them what they want to hear. Of course the result is only the lobbysts are satisfied, but come election time, politician will come campaigning with some free junkets and promises again.

Obama only helped banks get tx subsidies and helped maintain the status quo just like the ripoffblicans.

If half of Americans chipped in $1 and formed their own lobbying group, they'd have $150,000,000 fund to bribe any politician to listen to them over any lobbying group. What's holding the middle class back is that they are naive and believe that game is fair.

While it may or may not be true that he is racist, and/or thinks black people should be neutered, you're probably right, that he *did* think Obama was a piece of shit before he even started.

Notice, though, that he was right: Obama has indeed turned out to be a "truly miserable piece of shit President."  And there were many many signs that he would be, visible to anyone who cared to look.  Before he even started.

It used to be that a goodly part of that 39% would be idealistic bleeding hearts, convinced Obama was doing good, somehow, and that he cares more than the rascally republicans. Now this cohort is smaller. Everyone is in it for themselves, greasing their own skids. It's all about the maintaining, the looting, and the leeching.

Too late, the host is waking and the parasites are really digging in. One side (the productive part of the population that provides real value for people who want it and will pay for it) is on the ropes. That side isn't full of stupid or craven people - though some of them are. It's mostly trusting people who were raised to believe that the government had the peoples' best interests at heart, the dispute was how to realize them. Now they're waking up to the stench of tyranny, and they don't like it. They know it's not about protecting the rich or poor, they're starting to see that it's about looting, controlling, de-fanging, and, ideally, corrupting almost everyone.

We don't know just what to do about it, yet, aside from protecting ourselves and our little ones. But we know this system is imploding. We aren't going to have both domestic tranquility and the $5 trillion in banker bonuses that are expected to be paid in the next decade. Everyone in the know sees that these are mutually exclusive possibilities. So reality is taking hold, and it's painful, and the pain will increase in direct proportion to the clarity of reality. But that has a limit; the 'powers that be' have laid their plans well in advance, but no battle plan ever unfolds as anticipated. We're going to see the goblins in their full regalia just before everything gets real chaotic again. But we'll have true clarity eventually. Victory means endless toil, but with heart and hope, defeat means endless toil in a misery that we will eventually learn to accept, Dr. Zhivago style, or worse.

What can you personally do? Aside from the obvious, support people who are doing what you (we) can't or won't do - taking the fight to the globalists. One of two things is true with regard to your possible contribution to the effort: 1. The doomers like me are spouting shit and we're wasting our money on the likes of Ron Paul, everything will work our more or less fine. 2. Most of what you have and own is going to lose most or all of its value in the coming years, and you will wish you'd done more when you still could. Please support Ron Paul, anti-globalist congressional candidates,, (free trial ongoing through Nov 31st), Alan Watt, etc. Whoever is reaching people with the basic truth about our situation deserves our support. Thanks.

To be honest, Obama does not seem to resonate with the public as much as he used to, and a switch of parties is occasionally necessary to restore faith in our government and the political process. However it’s worth noting that there is a place and time for each party. The Republicans are strong leaders and are needed in a time of war, to stand up to the terrorists and be tough. Mitt Romney fits this role perfectly, and is furthermore willing to face down Iran EVEN if it means war. That is why he is rightfully the front runner in the republican primary. The democrats on the other hand are needed to be compassionate and care for the poor by providing welfare out of the kindness of their hearts. I personally believe that a compassionate democrat is able to deliver more effective fiscal stimulus programs to get this economy moving again, but Iran is certainly a threat and one could certainly make the case that this is a time for a strong republican.

Although I share your sentiment, I can't help feeling that we are to blame as voters for our own disappointment. As voters, we should be DEMANDING MORE from our politicians in order to get results. Obviously it is up to the politicians themselves to allocate resources optimally, but we can certainly make an impact by electing smart, compassionate and strong leaders.

I do not want to argue about "passionate democrats" but Obama went much further than that. His policies de facto transform the country in welfare state where majority of population directly depend on government handouts. On top of that he seems to determine to make whatever in his power to hurt US manufacturing (Boeng plant in South Carolina, recent episode with pipeline with Canada, his attitude to shale gas etc). Obama is smart and very dangerous demagogue who, in my opinion, trying to transform the country in Marxist paradise where the only thing that matter is government nomenklatura and Obama is a "Dear leader" subject to official admiration by populace.

In my opinion, Obama is the worst thing that happened to America since second world war.

So you're a compassionate guy, and you see hungry people.

So you go to a grocery store and see food.  They won't give it to you for free - they say they worked for it and it's theirs and you have no right to take even a portion of it.  You bust out your AK47 and absolutely, positively,  kill every motherfucker in the room.  You take all the food and distribute it to the poor.

You go on down the road, and you see that there are no more grocery stores, because they saw the increased risk of compassionate guys with AK47s and went out of business.  Nobody wants to get into the business, either.

So you go further down the road, and you find a farm.  They won't give it to you for free - they say they worked for it and it's theirs and you have no right to take even a portion of it.  And once again you and your AK47 absolutely, positively,  kill every motherfucker in the room.  You take all the food and distribute it to the poor.  You're just doing the compassionate thing.  You're a compassionate guy!  And the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one.  Right?

All the farmers bail and leave their farms, becuase the compassionate guys with AK47s are everywhere.  There is no food.  People starve by the millions.  Nobody wants to get into the business, either.

So you enslave a bunch of "criminals" who were "hoarding" the remaining food, and force them to work the farms.  But they're not farmers, so they don't raise much food, and the extra taskmasters required to run the farms eat much of it.  Millions more starve.

Now your country only has two things to offer to the world - poor people and thugs with AK47s.  Congratulations.  You've turned your country into sub-Saharan Africa.  Maybe you can sell some slaves.

Since he and every genetic link to him have absolutely nothing of value to offer humanity, I look forward to the imminent total ban on all things Obama by the ZH editorial staff, as soon as President Puke leaves office and the WH has been fumigated to temporarily alleviate the crack odor. Nothing he says or does after his leaves office will be worthy of note or attention. Of course he'll be a one-man three-ring circus, on a constant unending gambit for attention and adulation, but in spite of his infantile antics and caustic venom, he should be utterly ignored. It'll be real easy - just set your filter for key Obama terms and pick up only those stories:

"Obama's cocaine use"

"kiddie porn"

"Obama was caught" -golfing, -entertaining, -'with a mysterious male friend' (too much to wade through)

"President Puke" (let's see if it sticks)

The mainstream media's been stocking up on kneepads, so we can expect them to continue their long vigil between Obama's chicken legs, but we need not encourage them.

May 24, 2010 -- Wayne Madsen SPECIAL REPORT. Obama and Emanuel: members of same gay bath house club in Chicago
President Obama and his chief of staff Rahm Emanuel are lifetime members of the same gay bath house in uptown Chicago, according to informed sources in Chicago's gay community, as well as veteran political sources in the city.
The bath house, Man's Country, caters to older white men and it has been in business for some 30 years and is known as one of uptown Chicago's "grand old bathhouses." WMR was told by sources who are familiar with the bath house that it provides lifetime memberships to paying customers and that the club's computerized files and pre-computer paper files, include membership information for both Obama and Emanuel. However, sources close to "Man's Country" believe the U.S. Secret Service has purged the computer and filing cabinet files of the membership data on Obama and Emanuel.

interesting and very vertical. Gerson's not the first or last dude to think we are what we eat. Along those lines, Linus Pauling thought as we evolved our diets were much much different than they are today and involved much more vitamin C. Unfortunately, our food production system has evolved, correction, devolved much faster than its eaters.

You're right about the vegetarian challenge. B-12 is the real challenge. But less "sophisticated" cultures integrate(d) animal waste into the soil which gets that element back into the game. Hell, depletiing our soil of critical orrganic content is in itself probably life threatening, toxic inputs aside.

If you check out Food Matters, there are Docs, of course spurned by the establishment, that indicate that proper nutrition (with supplements) will prevent AND CURE a lot of shit and that the RDA is bullshit and should be much higher in many categories. As one of the sarcastic docs says, but healthy people don;t make a lot of money for the drug and medical industry. Is it the Baboon who can recognize and eat hundreds of food sources? We used to be his neighbor. These days, we fill our guts with GMO soy, corn syrup, Aspartame, and other shit. No wonder we aint right.

Because it is a crappy fake. I'm astounded at the number of people willing to suspend all reason when it comes down to the simple fact that NO ONE spends upwards of 2 million dollars to keep his/her BIRTH CERTIFICATE hidden from public view. Christ, look at the REAMS of evidence available on both short and long form certificates he has put out there, look at the experts in photoshop and their evidence. He uses a deceased SS number from Connecticut when he supposedly grew up in Hawaii. Nothing  makes sense with this guy, including how he went to pakistan on a US passport when that was impossible for any US citizen in the time period he claims he visited, why he has suppressed college transcripts, etc. The guy is a fraud and pretty much anyone willing to put aside their preconceptions could figure it out.

Those who hand pick the likely winners of presidential elections have a vast number of boobs and shills from which to choose. It makes no sense that they would select a constitutionally unqualified person to groom over a period of decades to fill that role.

The whole "he's not a citizen" thing just doesn't make sense. What makes more sense is that Obama had stalled the release of his birth certificate specifically in order to engender the conspiratorial mind set of the "birthers." Such a move would keep all the red and blue little people arguing about nonsense rather than discussing things like the military-industrial complex, the Fed and the Constitution.

The 'birthers" become a net plus for Obama as those who pursue that line can be portrayed as crazy even if they actually are not. This rallies the righteous blues against the crazy reds and the reds, who see themselves as the righteous ones, counterattack the blues they consider to be crazy. The false dichotomy is strengthened and a situation is created wherein OWS and the Tea Party absolutely will not consider meeting each other on common ground.

Now, everyone realizes that he was Goldman Sach's/JP Morgan's (as proxy tentacles of the House of the Red Shield) errand boy...

...and the irony is that the Crony Capitalists (NOT free market capitalists; big difference) still pretend that they revile him, as he's helped funnel trillions upon trillions of the rapidly shrinking middle class's tax money into the pockets of the Crony Capitalists.

Maybe you could learn to write English before gracing us with your presence. Unless, of course, you're one of those elite who can speak "Austrian".

So you're not disagreeing that Obama was a Manchurian candidate, you're just saying he was placed in there by Goldman Sachs & JP Morgan, rather than some long term liberal democrat covert operation.

"Americans get to watch the finest kabuki theater as any that has ever been produced, all against the backdrop of an empire burning"

I'd always envisioned it as a bukkake party.

More bullish news.  ES should rise into close because all news is bullish now.

Europe - now exploding!
China - Real Estate crash is proceeding!
Japan - Japan has been fucked for decades now!
U.S. - We're screwed but just don't want to believe it!

Yup - everything is bullish now.

Don't worry Obama, at least the PPT is behind you!
