Jon Stewart On The Ron "13th Floor In A Hotel" Paul Media Blackout

Tyler Durden's picture

Over the weekend, following the Iowa straw poll result, we posed a simple question: why does the media continue to ignore Ron Paul (on both the left and right)? We followed up with none other than Paul's own response to this curious status quo. A few days later, it appears that the media itself has finally caught on to this ironic 'house of mirrors' effect, and while Paul is still not a household name, the self-effacing sarcasm this topic has garnered, has been captured best by none other than Jon Stewart in this entertaining clip that mocks the established mindset of the legacy media to not dare disturb the status quo, confirming that everyone, left and right, are really all just the same. For those who have not seen it yet, this is a hilarious must watch.

I am a huge Jon Stewart fan, and this was a classic. This morning, one of the MSM shows was talking about the Ron Paul Blindness. Their conclusion was classic: he is simply not relevant. That is why he is not getting air time. As Reagan would say, "There you go again."

I would love to see RP decimate Oblahma (the former constitutional law professor) in a debate, which he most certainly would.

I am really starting to believe this "ignore Ron Paul" tactic is going to backfire in a big way. Amercians generally love an underdog, and when a seemingly decent, honorable old guy like Ron is getting kicked around by TPTB, it will cause people to take notice, that otherwise wouldn't have given 2 shits.

Unofficial anecdotal evidence: My block in central Austin (which is a dot of blue amoung a sea of red) has 5 Ron Paul yard signs (including mine and soon to be 6 as I'm picking one up for a neighbor who wants one).  My block 4 years ago was all Hope and Change Obammer signs. For what it's worth.

Look, the MSM have been owned by the banksters since the 1930's: See Congressman Charles Lindbergh and Congressman Louis McFadden. Both read into the Congressional record how the Fed, working through the NYT syndicate, bought the editorial viewpoints of the nation's newspapers, and eventually the televised news.

No one paid attention to Ron Paul ten years ago. Everything seemed to be going okay. Today, his message about the Fed and the corporatocracy are more than relevant; they are a burning torch in a fireworks factory.

Let's hope the whole dump goes up like Hiroshima. BTW, this was one of the best segments ever from Jon Stewart.

If we actually had a free market capitalist system in the world that would be the case. But we have a crony capitalist system where the ownership of government power is essential. I have said since the results were announced that the way the straw poll turned out was THE BEST POSSIBLE outcome that could have happened for Ron Paul.  If Ron would have flat out wont the poll, the poll would have been cast aside as a farce. A <1% loss makes the media focus on how relavent the poll was, thus adding to the fire that he is a relavent canidate.

The hypocrasy is exposed, and more people are seeing it.  It's all a scam, and people are waking up. This poll did more for Ron's cause than a first place finish would ever have done.

This poll is only relevant and credible in the eyes of the establishment media because the corn dogging milf won it.  If Dr. Paul had won, the poll would have been silently dismissed as irrelevant, would have received no news coverage.

Hell, as the Stewart episode points out, they've tried to marginalize Paul in the MSM anyway.  WTF is up with the "Top Tier" repeated over and over?  They were all merely briefed by their producer on the talking points of the day handed down by TPTB and blurted them out on TV.  How fucking irrelevant can television "news" get?

Someone should do a youtube video calld; "Anatomy of a Mainsream Media Conspiracy to censor Dr Ron Paul."

In a coordinated effort, the MSM conspired to censor Ron Paul of any discussion concerning his virtual win at the Iowa Straw Poll.

The MSM's corporate job is to brainwash and deceive people through Orwellian omission of facts, and to select the people who they deem fit for you to vote for.

The video should be about the blatantly obvious attack on Dr Paul this past weekend as 100% proof of the conspiracy, and Reporters, who are virtually all card carrying members of the CFR, and the role they play in our lives to socially engineer us and our decisions.

Thank God hardly anyone watches them anymore.

“Ideas are very important to the shaping of society. In fact, they are more powerful than bombings or armies or guns. And this is because ideas are capable of spreading without limit. They are behind all the choices we make. They can transform the world in a way that governments and armies cannot. Fighting for liberty with ideas makes more sense to me than fighting with guns or politics or political power. With ideas, we can make real change that lasts.”
Ron Paul (Liberty Defined: The 50 Urgent Issues That Affect Our Freedom)

“And yet even among the friends of liberty, many people are deceived into believing that government can make them safe from all harm, provide fairly distributed economic security, and improve individual moral behavior. If the government is granted a monopoly on the use of force to achieve these goals, history shows that power is always abused. Every single time.”
Ron Paul (Liberty Defined: The 50 Urgent Issues That Affect Our Freedom)

“A citizen walking through the airport today is bombarded with 1984-style propaganda messages that are designed to make us fear some amorphous threat and also be suspicious of others. The government designs these messages to make us feel dependent and heavily lorded over in every aspect of our lives. Man, I am so sick of the company line. This is all bullshit, unadulterated.

JOBS, JOBS, JOBS (and wages, wages, wages), and NOT housing, is ground zero.

Even guest post articles on Zero Hedge (Charles Smith, among others) have alleged the housing bust and depression is a cause, rather than a symptom, of the disease we have.

The disease we have isn't bustedhouseitis.

The disease we have is FewerJobsAtLowerPay/BenefitsItis.

Everything else is a symptom, including sick housing and retail markets.

The housing boom was an inflated bubble that served as the Tylenol that suppressed the fever and symptoms of the gutting out of quality jobs that has now been taking place for decades, and which accelerated at warp speed in about 2000.

Don't tell that to the monkeys that run the place; they're convinced they're better than anyone else and that they can pay everyone less while taking more.  They'll scratch their heads, wondering why houses aren't being sold, or why cars aren't being sold -- or why consumption is down.

Eventually, one of the numpties will figure out that paying people more will increase consumption, and that will be revolutionary--even though it's all been done before. Where the fuck is Henry Ford?  I mean seriously?  Why the hell do we have to even discuss this shit 100 years later?

Oh.. I guess we're supposed to be mouthing our prayers to the great capitalistic gods?  Paying more is never good! More profits--may fortune smile upon me, so that myself [and the people I care about] get more, while everyone gets less.

Jon Stewart, I hope you read this.

I have enjoyed your show for a long time, and long considered you one of the more informed media personalities. I cannot believe that you didn't even mention Ron's name in episode 86 (season 16)

Pretending like Ron Paul doesn't exist, you are just as bad as Bill O'Reilly. I hope Bill's writing staff jumps right on this, and, in the words of Sarah Palin, "shoves it down your throat," and calls YOU out for being a capital P, Patsy. You deserve to be publicly humiliated just like you attempted to do to him, FOR THE EXACT SAME THING HE DID. (I can hear that last capitalized part in your voice because you have taught me to view the news with the loud, ironic, candor of your voice, something I used to enjoy, but now I am so utterly disappointed in coming to the full realization that you are as fake as margarine covered in saccharin eaten by Heidi Montag on one of Abu Dhabi's palm tree islands, that I feel like I hate you.)

You are an impediment to the democratic system Jon. By marching with the rest of the corrupt, corporate media and propagating fragmented information to suit whatever your intentions may be, you are doing the people of the United States of America a great injustice. You pretend to be better than Fox news, and for a long time we kind of bought that. The truth is, you are something far more conniving and evil than Fox news as illustrated by your gross disrespect for a politician and blatant hypocricy.

Is the joke that you're a joke? Is the joke that you called Bill out on his snubbing of political candidate Ron Paul, to then do the exact same thing, and laugh yourself to the bank on the profits of the evil dumbing-down of America that you knock Fox for?

Your schtick systematically knocking every single candidate except Ron was completely see-through and offensive Jon. Unfortunately not see through for everyone, and just like Fox news, people use you for real news, you know it, you receive nominations for news awards. Tonight I saw you display the corporate psychopathic trademark, no integrity.

You're the fat girl that tells everyone to lose weight Jon. You're the heroin dealer that only smokes pot Jon.

You're the patsy newscaster with nervous energy (selling your soul obviously leaves you a shaking shell) misinforming the people about the presidential election because your brother is Larry Leibowitz (your real surname!) the CEO of the New York Stock Exchange, and the truth would be bad for your family business. Isn't that right Jon? Gosh, what would Ron Paul's ending the Federal Reserve do for your brother's fat salary, paid for with the anguish of the proletariat prisoners of the Corporate American Machine? You must have to employ magical thinking, just like Bill O'Reilly, to keep the stomach acid down when you see your insincere reflection in blood-money bathroom mirror. (Ron Paul will bring all our soldiers home from the blood bath, but you didn't mention that either)

You've got kids Jon, do your part to not leave them on a corrupt sinking political ship, please, help us newsman. Be more than a shill. Be more than a scoundrel. Be more than a pittering, puny, patsy. Use that booming voice of yours to tell the damn truth Jon Stewart Leibowitz!

In your own words Jon, "stop hurting America."

it is amazing how anyone would give his show the time of day. amazing. it shows how far this country has fallen in some respects. imagine that. this man, makes fun of things that are in reality very sad, yet the subservient sheep laugh at his mindless drivel while he makes a joke out of our predicament. so one must realize that they are laughing at you and that the joke is on you, but many of you will not understand this.

But every now and then, he hits a grand slam and this is one of them. I promise this video will go viral and pull back the mainstream media curtain a bit for some people, no matter wheter they are CNBC or Fox veiwers. This is a big boost for Ron Paul's campaign, regardless of how much a douche/disinformant the messenger is.

Edit - I know this video is going big time viral, because it's getting so much traffic, it's won't load or takes forever. This is a great development for Paul's supporters!

why do you think the nwo is having such a hard time with libya?  it is because in their society , in their culture, their bonds within their people are held together by tribe. there are many tribes in libya. they all act and are controlled by their own tribal elders etc. this is the way it has been for a long time perhaps going back to ancient times. as the old green beret says on the radio station program i listen to from time to time, with any high tech weapon, you can defeat it with a low tech weapon. tribes are low tech so to  speak. when we speak of white western european cultures we were at one time all divided into tribes but as time went by, this force was combined into one, a white western european culture that this country was founded upon. so the enemy decided that this culture must be  destroyed in order to prepare the way for the nwo. so it is happening now. jon stewart is doing his part. after all, how can one ascertain anything good coming from a guy who works for the enemy. i mean who it is that owns the comedy channel?  don't you find it strange how people derive their news from a comedian?  the joke is on us and we had better get with the program and understand that any white man walking around now, has a target on his back and all of this racial desparity that is continually brought up etc, is done for a reason, that reason is distraction from what is really going on behind the curtains. so that when the races fight each other, they are just doing what they are told more or less and the real enemy gets stronger while we get weaker. end game is now in sight........there will be no tomorrow. there will be no more middle class. there is no hope unless we as a nation and a country and a people seize that hope and reach for the gold ring and take victory out of the jaws of defeat................amen?

well we are all slaves. if you are talking about blacks, i must say there were more white slaves than black in this country and they were treated worse than the blacks. but such a small little known fact (courtesy of the history book writers) should not stand in the way of politically correct behaviors should it?  on a side note, did you know that north african slave ships raided the coastlines of europe all the way north and on to iceland , searching for white slaves to kidnap and to sell?  these were the same bozos that tried to get fresh with american ships and this caused president jefferson to send some marines over to deal with them?

It's "little-known" because it's not true.

Legislation about slavery was very specifically designed to apply to "negroes," and treating "white" folks as chattel was a crime, even in 1800.  "Indentured servitude" wasn't slavery, it was just exchange of labor/services for a loan.

That said, it's easy enough to make a case that any form of capitalist importation and exploitation of a non-native workforce is slavery.  That's a classic Marxist argument, actually.

dude you need to get out more and get away from the government books...at first slavery here was a totally white thingy, but they discovered the the black slaves could work harder in the heat and bad working conditions and could last longer too , so they started bringing in blacks...which also cost more.....

just who was it that was in the slave business?

of the 22 million black slaves brought to north amerika on jewish owned slave ships about 20 million of them perished. i know i can be funny about this stuff but to me that could be called a holocaust could it not? but if i was living in germany i would be arrested and thrown in jail for saying such a thingy....

Where are the footnotes?

I've read some history, and yes there were slaves of every race and color pretty much everywhere.

Let's get specific:

"we are all slaves" = common Marxist trope, ok, impossible to establish a truth value

"more white slaves than black in this country" = false, bullshit, no way.  The (completely unverifiable) assertions made in the links ALL predate "this country."  You fail badly, whether at reading comprehension or skepticism or precision is unclear.  British slavery was well established, so of course there was white slavery in a British colony, but that's not something I'd take issue with.

"Jewish owned slave ships" = sure, some were.  They could only be Jewish owned or Christian owned, and there were plenty of both.  Picking out the Jewish-owned ones makes sense for a racist bigot.

You can find claims by anyone about anything on the Internet.  It's not a difficult thing to cross reference competing claims when you have access to a decent library and some time to invest.  But if you're expecting anyone with even half a cent of common critical reasoning, you have to bring some well-sourced information to the argument.  If you weren't such an obviously rabid anti-semite, you could potentially pique my interest enough to look into this myself.

But...well...that's that, then.

HPD, {replying to myself just to try not to hog too much bandwith}, on the level, cannot disagree with anything you wrote there.   but as you hinted, there is indeed something going on behind the 'tribal' curtain.    now what if behind the curtain (or rather the curtain behind the curtain), there was another conflict going on?   that between 2 tribes, represented as follows:

-those who respect life & those who embrace death.

-those who choose to create & those who seek to destroy.

-those who always want to express love & those who can't stop the hate.

-those who who are anxious to become awake and those who are happy inside the dream.

-those who are willing to accept responsibility & those who are always looking for a way out of being responsible.

-those who are considerate of others' suffering & those who are inconsiderate of anything but their own selfish pleasures.

-those who understand the truth must be discovered for oneself & those who believe their version of The Truth Must Be Accepted By All.

-those who choose to believe it is possible to survive through giving & getting and those who are certain the only way is through having & taking.

-those who wish to live as equals  with everyone on the Earth & those who are bred to believe that only they and their Kind came from the Heavens.

-those who want to cooperate with some to compete with others on a level playing field & those who endeavor to conspire with a few to exploit everyone else by titling the board in their favor.

-those who see themselves and everyone around them as potentially more powerful than most of them realize & those who always looking for the angle to play the victim in order to justify all of the above in their Mind.

...and so on and so on...    if you got 10 mins to spare, i invite you to watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsak0fG6WE4 not asking you to agree with it, just to consider what he's saying.  (and if you got another 10 mins & want to go deeper down the rabbit hole, watch part 3).

I will concede that perhaps you believe Zionists are the root of all evil. I see it as a smoke screen of the elite in general. I see the pendulum of blame swing from one group to the next as time goes by. Yet very rarely is the blame placed where it should be, the sociopathic criminals of today.

Right, when the news blockade becomes so glaringly obvious as it has in this case that itself becomes news. I had to laugh when Jon did the high pitched thank you only to see Paul skipped over for santorum...

Anyone Google that name lately? For years it has been an obscene reference. Google must have altered the search engine to keep it the number one result as well it should be, but I checked and it is still:

Santorum

Santorum:  1. The frothy mix of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the
byproduct of anal sex. 2. Senator Rick Santorum.

I really don't know why it matters, even a depression will see Obama reelected I think, the right has just gone too far off the rails with their social anti everything, the religious bullshit. Paul is the only one near to the top in their party that is not thumping a bible and promising to turn America "back" into a theocracy as if we ever were one. But as much as I like his sincerity and his position that government is corrupt and banking is corrupt, and the Fed is a kleptoctopus, he is also probably too old to get elected to a first term, and his personal views on social issues are not a lot better than the others running, so how could a patently unqualified candidate with questionable citizenship status have won in 2008? Simple, the right has turned greed and paternalistic WASP 19th century morality into a religion every bit as much as HuffPo treats Obama or Global Warming as religions, and the country is now too diverse to tolerate it.

Vote for him or whomever. No diff. Hellhole are in most every big city now *not much more than 3rd world slums* and they are feral in nature.

Night night sleep tight, you earned it baby.

Wow.

New respect for Jon Stewart for even covering, in a relatively fair way Ron Paul. Not what i expected this morning.

Now let's see if Stewart actually invites Ron Paul on his show.  I can hear the chirping noises now...

Whether one likes it or not, Ron Paul is going to be identified more and more as an "anti-establishment" candidate.

And that's going to have increasing appeal among a large swath of frustrated voters.

I think he has been on there before.  I know he was on Colbert.  Real, non-dogmatic liberals tend to love Paul, from what I have seen.  At least, they love him when there is a Republican president.

  • Ron Paul is against wars that run on for decades, costing exhorbinant ammounts of blood and treasure, and are in the mode of "nation building" (read: imperialism). He favors spending that blood and treasure for american progress. Bring the troops home.
  • Ron Paul is highly educated.
  • Ron Paul supports and sponsors political debates for the full spectrum of lesser known political parties who -- like himself -- are summarily ignored.
  • Ron Paul supports sound money principles. The same thing that the teachers union members teach every day in basic economics.
  • Ron Paul thinks that the federal government should NOT subsidize OR disincentivise people no matter which side they are on in the social issues debates. (Life/Choice, non-traditional marriage/marriage, marijuanna, etc).
  • Ron Paul acknowledges that states have the right to govern within the powers granted to them.
  • Ron Paul's legislative record shows he is willing to work with the far left (Bernie Sanders, Barney Frank), the Far right, and everywhere in between, as long as it is a good bill.

What exactly is there not to love for progressive/socialist/"freedom from fascist oppression" leaning types?

We just need him to explain what "sound money" means to the american people. And he can even dig up Keynes ghost. Even Keynes would be aghast at our half-ass implementation of keynsianism. Yogi Berra is a better economist than (the current) TPTB.

Ron Paul has been on the Daily Show multiple times.  The Daily Show is often much more nuanced than people here seem to think.

Damm right, Jon will piss on the right AND the left extremes. Mostly he makes fun of media though. People think he's bias because he picks on FOX quite abit, the thing is FOX spouts far more propaganda the rest of media combined.

Anyone who watches Fox News and thinks they're getting a balanced view is a moron. For that matter, anyone who watches the mainstream media at all and thinks they're "informed" is a moron.
