Live Webcast Of Corzine's Third Testimony Where The Questions Pick Up In Complexity

Tyler Durden's picture

Following the gotcha moment from Tuesday, fully documented here and here, in which CME Executive Chairman Terry Duffy basically caught Jon Comminglerzine committing an act of perjury, or lying about the chronology of his knowledge of MF Global's commingled loans under oath, today we get the third and last (for the time being) testimony of the former CEO of Goldman and MF Global, this time to the House Financial Services Committee. Grab your popcorn, the hearing is live, and Jon Corzine is about to sound just like Hank Paulson because this time it will be a little more difficult to "recall" events that happened 6 weeks ago, now that the CME chairman has been kind enough to remind him.

Barney Frank preparing to tear Corzine a new one

From Congress:

The Financial Services Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee will examine the decisions and events leading up to the collapse of MF Global during a hearing on Thursday. At the hearing, the Subcommittee will hear from Jon Corzine, the former chief executive officer of MF Global, as well as regulators of the firm and the bankruptcy trustee.

The Subcommittee hearing will also focus on the effectiveness of regulators in overseeing the firm’s activities, the impact that MF Global’s bankruptcy will have on its customers, and the decision by the New York Federal Reserve to grant MF Global primary dealer status.

Since November, the Subcommittee has been at the forefront of investigating the downfall of MF Global. The Subcommittee has obtained hundreds of documents and other materials concerning MF Global and interviewed more than a dozen individuals.  On December 7, the Subcommittee unanimously voted to issue a subpoena to compel Corzine’s appearance.

Subcommittee Chairman Randy Neugebauer said, “Building upon the earlier hearings held by the House and Senate Agriculture Committees, the Subcommittee will continue to pursue any and all facts pertaining to investment decisions that led to MF Global’s collapse and the activities at MF Global in the days and weeks leading to its collapse. Clearly, there is much work to be done in order for the MF Global investors to discover what occurred prior to the firm’s collapse. In order for our financial institutions to have credibility in the global market place, and for our regulatory institutions to have credibility with the taxpayer, the Subcommittee will continue to examine not only Mr. Corzine’s actions, but also the effectiveness of several regulatory entities that at first glance seem to have been asleep at the switch.”

MF Global filed for bankruptcy on October 31, 2011. MF Global’s demise has had a negative impact on its customers. The bankruptcy trustee reported in November that customer funds were not segregated as required by law. The bankruptcy trustee also found approximately $1.2 billion in customer funds are missing.  This is the first time in the futures industry’s history that a customer has suffered a loss as a result of a clearing members’ improper handling of customer funds.

Well, the dirty politician/financier/robber is on the hot seat, the burning lights of the investigators turned on him.

It’s the magic show that only a congressional “investigation” can muster; who can withstand the oral accusations and accusatory charges, the withering judgment of the media and the cartoonists, the majesty of the U.S. Congress?

It turns out that, like the other TBTF robbers before him, Corzine can muster the strength to withstand this ordeal. Because in the end, the congressional investigation is similar to the process of laundering money to remove the stain and make it clean.

Once the highly placed suspect walks through the congressional charade, out he comes like Lloyd Blankfein, pure and innocent and stamped with the Congressional Seal of Approval.

Ah, washed clean in the judgment of his peers – the crooks still in office.

Well written. Packed with hidden truths. Yet, hilarious!!! But this one just really hits home… more than any of the others… Interesting that this week Rush said he would support anybody who could beat Obama, INCLUDING RON PAUL (that's Rush, who’s said Paul’s not going to be elected, he’s not a Republican, and he’s not going to talk about him)!

Hitler (Hitler's actor giving his undescribably brilliant performance):

“These people stay in the room: O’Reilly, Hannity, Levin and Rush.”

Long pause, while his anger builds…..

“I told you to ignore him in the debates, ..

twist his words, ignore his straw poll wins..

ask him loaded questions in debates and interviews (necon “journalists” baffled and scared)

tell the people his foreign policy is wrong.. blowback does not exist…

they hate us because we are free and prosperous..

that is why the government will take away all the freedom and prosperity from the people…

..before our enemies take them!”

Neocon:” Mein Fuhrer, he had predicted the housing bubble in 02-03..”

Hitler: “I don’t care if he was right about the economy… he is not right on blowback..”

Necon: “Mein Fuhrer, many say our actions motivate more hatred against us.”

Hitler: “I don’t care what experts say, we can bomb whoever we want……”

(Mark Levin devoted an entire program segment this week to denouncing Ron Paul, calling him an assortment of despicable names.)

Mr Corzine, if your Grandfather were a banker and not a farmer do you think he would have just stole the money from customers, like you did?  Just wondering.

Unless you are willing to take every single dime from yourself and anyone around you to make the people you screwed whole, we really don't have time to listen to anymore of your lies....

Sick of this farce.  Corzine goes through the laundry lists of controls in place to prevent fraud and remain compliant but that does no fucking good to answer two questions...where's the money?  who approved the comingling?

With such high paid staff and strict controls I would think that it would take about 10 seconds to find the answer....yet here we are.  Politicians sit there asking bullshit questions and accepting bullshit answers.  It would almost be refreshing if a security guard went beserk, pulled a gun on Corzine, and got a real fucking answer while Corzine wet himself.

Did you participate or have knowledge of the commingling of funds, yes or no.

Did you knowingly deceive the retard regulators, yes or no?

Did you steal money from customer accounts, yes or no.

He can say NO all he wants but in the future if evidence comes to light well then you have another charge to nail him with.  At least make this guy sweat.  It's OBVIOUS that the guys asjking questions are his buddies.

Another Ron Paul endorsement:

“I feel the same way about him on the right in 2012 as I did about Obama in 2008,” writes prominent blogger Andrew Sullivan in his endorsement of Ron Paul. “Both were regarded as having zero chance of being elected and around now, people decided: Why not? And a movement was born.”

Andrew Sullivan left The Atlantic early this year taking his blog, The Daily Dish, with him. The blog found a new home on The Daily Beast in April; Sullivan also became a contributor to Newsweek. Sullivan is a former editor of The New Republic and is an opponent of the war in Iraq.

The Sullivans are a bridge, that if Ron Paul gets the nomination for president, will help him to defeat Obama.

Sullivan is a self-described conservative who supports a flat tax, privatization of SS, deficit reduction, limited government, and opposition to the welfare state and international interventionism.

Have this itching suspicion that the NDAA provisions for military detention Obambi promised to veto but didn't (again) is an end around to declaring martial law. The recruitment and training of FEMA fusion detention center workers and theunconstitutional NDAA provisions are about - and only about - the blatant fraud and election rigging that approaches to avert any chance of Dr Paul getting the "pen" in his hand. It don't matter who Diebold declares as winner - If its the Newt - the Romney - the Obambi - what's the f*cking diff? It's just a matter of pulling off the Ken doll's head and replacing it with another.

Suggestions:

For years the only conservative polled to beat Obama has been Ron Paul. They are afraid the Diebold rigging and vote stuffing and zombie votes cannot be done as inconspicuously as it was when it didn't make a difference who was voted in office - in the past. The oligarch is desperate. The NDAA is a reflection of that desperation.

Contact your precinct's sheriff and ask if they plan to uphold their oath and protect the constitution and arrest any military personnel policing our neighborhoods, setting up check points and kidnapping us, our children, our parents our neighbors. IT'S UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Talk to your neighbors, friends, neighborhood association. TALK TO EVERYBODY - 90% don't know what coming.

Do your own election watch  - all Paul voters need to organize - count the number of voters going in to vote and ask Paul supporters to sign affidavits they voted for Dr Paul. Make sure the difference between total voters voting and those that voted for Dr Paul match what precinct workers post.

Note - most precinct polling places in the south, perhaps everywhere, are in churches and are loaded with Haggee's Christian Abomination Evangelicals and CUFI (citizens united for israel) droids who are taking time away from abusing the children in  their care thanks to the souths biggest cottage industry, The Foster Child Care Services Industry.

IT DON'T END WITH THE VOTE - IT DON'T END WITH THE COUNT - IT ENDS WHEN WE SAY IT ENDS - BE VIGILANT - DO NOT FEAR - nobody lives forever - WE ARE AMERICANS - WE ARE THE RABID DOGS NOONE  F*CKS WITH - however - sadly the iodine deficient sometimes need a "hard" reminder,  It's life or death for them. It's life or death for us. The desperation embedded in the NDAA is - for all intensive purposes the last nail in the DC - Wall Street PONZI Corridor's coffin. BURY THAT BITCH NOW.

All I can say is thank Buddha on a stack of Tikis that Barney Frank is protecting our interests and and able to maintain the energy level to continue forward, courtesy of the lunch time Bris Milah buffet laid out by the DC Bath House Industry Group!

You know the questioning would have been intense had Jon not given committee members the heads up (or bottoms up depending on the way they swig) to short the stock MF Global gave committee members and staffers when Jon took the helm days before MF Globals' bankruptcy hit the wires.

The bovine excrement and criminal enterprise working the DC Wall Street Corridor is so so so obvious - even a half wit like me can see it - no wonder the NDAA wrap around to avert a formal declaration of Martial Law was so desperately needed.

Still trying to figure if the trigger has bulled and the hammer released regarding this:

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Agreed. Unfortunately, this is not where the break in the Criminal Syndicate begins. We’re not going to be watching a congressional investigative hearing and the Sergeant of Arms comes out and takes Corzine away. Most of the guys in the room are no stranger to white collar crime. What they’re trying to do here is posture themselves to appear on a much higher moral plane than the crook Corzine.”

It reminds one of Ambrose Bierce’s description of a trial: A formal inquiry designed to prove and put upon record the blameless characters of judges, advocates and jurors.

Under a 2002 anti-corporate-fraud law that Corzine co-wrote as a U.S. senator, the top executives of public companies must personally certify the accuracy of their company's financial statements. It can be a violation of the law for executives to sign a false statement. ... MF Global didn't list the European debt on its balance sheet for all to see. Instead, those holdings were shifted to the company's "off-balance sheet," deep in its financial statements. Some separate filings with regulators excluded the European debt entirely.

A lawyer for the trustee overseeing the liquidation of MF Global's brokerage operations said in court Friday that the trustee's staff has discovered some "suspicious" trades in MF Global customer accounts that were made in the last days before the firm failed. The lawyer didn't provide details.

So Corzine was the cosponsor of an anti-corporate fraud law that requires CEOs to certify, in effect, that their books are accurate.  And now he's testifying that he doesn't know where that $1.2 billion is.

Ironic, isn't it?
