Live Webcast Of Jamie Dimon Hearing

Tyler Durden's picture

The crony capitalist show must go on: those bribed by Jamie Dimon are about to ask question of the same person. That this theatrical hearing will be a farce is by now well known by absolutely everyone, as confirmed by the rumor that late last night someone ordered 22 copies of "Credit Default Swaps for Bought and Paid For Senatorial Muppet Idiots" from Amazon.com. In the off chance Dimon slips and does say something of significance, here is your chance to follow the next 2 hours live. Everyone else will be.

Live C-Span webcast at the link below and full prepared remarks here:

And as a reminder, here is who is asking the "questions."

Finally, it is truly hilarious to watch Senators question a bank for assuming it is Too Big To Fail. May we remind the members of Senate of vote HR 1424 aka TARP, which guaranteed perpetual moral hazard? It just happened to pass with a 74 to 25 vote.

I might be fiddling as Rome is burning, but does anyone else find this hillarious? Our politicians are incompetent morons. They don't even know what to ask. I'm no fan of the bankers but if Jaime Dimon were in charge of financial regulation rather than these dipshits we wouldn't have 90% of our problems.

Wed, 06/13/2012 - 10:40 | 2521649 haskelslocal

Exactly. Without taking sides it's easy to just ask, "why have a hearing if you have no idea what you're asking?"

And it's sickening that time and time again, the Jamie's of the world just say that yes, there was risk out of control but NOW we're going to look into it to never let it happen again. As if they just went into business yesterday and have no idea what happened.

i disagree, they have been quite competent at dismantling safeguards and now defending gamers of the deregulated banking.

in my lifetime, political initiated inquiries and studies implemented by politicians have been little more than theater providing cover for perps or the policies positioned for exploitation, plausible deny ability.

Dont be pissed at the fox for liking to eat chickens. The real problem in this country/market is incompetence and corruption with the politicians. Blame the greedy, dishonest, treasonous pricks that bended to the will of Sandy Weill, Jaime's mentor, and disolved Glass Steigle some 10 months after the Travelers Citi merger. Make no mistake, bankers arent ruining this country/market, the politicians and the ignorant proletariat that elect them are responsible. Getting mad at the bankers for taking risk is like being pissed at your dog for doing his business in your yard. Thats what dogs/bankers do

Johnson had (has?) some kind serious brain injury.

so what does our wonderful, classy, compassionate senate do?

they put him on fucking display like some kind of circus freak right on c-span.

they throw up a brain damaged senator to lead the way in this "hearing".

why? because that's what Dimon wanted, don't think for a moment this wasn't intentional, that this wasn't orchestrated.

smart, savvy, sophisticated bankster gets "questioned" by brain damaged public representative.

Jamie is the most sincere witness I've ever seen testify, and I can see why he's a CEO.  To be able to line with convincing sincerity must be a gift acquired through centuries of genes being developed, there isn't an institution in the world that can train a person to that degree.  I couldn't watch more than a few minutes.

Well, Jamie is damn good. Totally calm, cool and collected. He comes off with lots of integrity, this is clearly why people think the way they do of him. Yea, he is the man today - he wins, the idiots behind the questions don't have a chance because they are frankly too stupid and too corrupt. This hearing makes the Senate look like just what they are, stupid, corrupt and utterly incompetent.

This is really nothing more than a waste of time, as we all expected. The Senate is clearly playing softball with Jamie and he is carrying an iron filled bat, knocking every question out of the park. Really ridiculous that the banking sub-committee is asking questions about fundamental operations - I would have thought these guys should have some clue about how the banks work as well as the system they work in, you know because this committee is responsible for the associated legislation. Terrible and embarrasing, hard to actually listen to these guys ask such incredibly basic questions. Even the MF Global line of questions were easy to address, no pressing at all. I wonder how the MF Global customers are feeling right now?

Not quite calm, cool and collected.  When a questioner is getting to him, his blink rate goes way up.  When asked his opinion on some policy and he is not being challenged, it goes down.

That these ass-clowns and idiots would have any credibility to solve any issue clearly is a result of the cherished American delusion that government is necessary to run the country and help the people [oh, yeaaaaahhhhhh].

A proper government would have its representatives meet every so often and the meeting would go something like this: "Are any enemies landing on our shores or about to?" [NO]. Is our expenditure to maintain a minmal military presence less than our revenues? [YES].  This Congress is adjourned - we will meet next quarter.  That is about all our Reps are capable of and that is about all we need from them.....
