Live Webcast Of Obama Proposing More Spending As The Solution To All Of America's Problems

Tyler Durden's picture

Actually, we are not sure just what the president will discuss in his 10:15 am address on the economy, but our suggestion that the president will suggest more spending as the cause solution to all of America's problems seems like a fair guess. That or blaming Merkel for the epic NFP miss last Friday. We are not sure what the shot keyword is today (aside for thingamajig of course), but we know what isn't: $15,734,596,578,458.59. That's was US Federal debt as of close on Wednesday: another fair guess is that it will receive exactly zero prominence in Obama's latest sermon.

In order to create jobs and further his legacy (ha!), he will be creating a new cabinet-level department. The Ministry of Patriotism and Loyalty. They will be charged with rooting out all right-wing domestic terrorists and their sympathizers. This is going to require enormous manpower, thus millions of jobs will be created. And O'bomb-a will go down in history as the greatest ruler this country has ever had.

The American People believe the Republicans are in charge of Congress. Obama has instructed Harry Reid to pass nothing, not even a budget. Obama will propose Jobs Bill after Jobs Bill and blame the do nothing Congress for unemployment and the economy. It's all he has.

True "austerity" means total chaos ultimately across the U.S.-things like public starvation, bloody, burning riots in urban (and other areas). I don't think ANYONE has the stomach for that, especially the pols...look for them to print until they can't any more. It's their only choice right now.

cutting government spending gradually over time so that eventually there is a surplus and the debt gets paid down, does not result in mass death and annihilation. Please cut back on the hyperbole.

Cut military spending 5 percent per year for 10 years. How is that going to bring about The End of Days?

Get MediCare, MediCaid and Social Security costs under control gradually over 5 to 10 years.

implement a 5% VAT tax

Are these popular choices? no, that's why they are second term, nothing to lose choices. Will they happen? probably not, but maybe if it gets to the point the automatic budget cuts take effect and suddenly they get cooperative and work out a real budget. Will this cause mass starvation, rivers of blood in the streets, and a burning wasteland? no.

The mere fact that THIS man is supposedly the "leader" of the US is simply asinine.

The man never ran business. Was raised in a foreign country, coddled all his life.

Did drugs and fucked off his entire teen life, got free passes to college and then was indoctrinated by communists and dipshits - simply apalling. It's no wonder that he pushes bail outs, free money and bullshit programs over fiscal prudence. The man has NEVER HAD to show prudence.

The man has no clue what is going on. I find Obama despicable - incapable of rational thought, and time will show this man to be a total fraud, liar, and cheater of Amercians. That he gets away with half the shit he does is his media/corporatist elites covering for him - hell - they put the slug in office in the first place.

Paraphrasing the Speech:

1. We need to be spending an a$$load of money today... but we will be responsible about reducing spending and deficit reduction in the "long term".  Now... where have I heard THAT before??????

2.  Our domestic spending needs to be focused on two things: (a) expanding the nanny state in our local and state governments; and (b) spending on projects for construction that are temporary in nature.  There is apparently no structural employment issues that we need to be worried about here.

3. We wholeheartedly endorse bank bailouts in Europe.  We also endorse a fully integrated European nanny state.  They have the right fools to do the job.

4. Europe also needs to spend an a$$load of money today... and reduce spending even more so in the "long term".  But they really need to spend a whole lot of money today, because we need to trade more with them. Not less.

5. Greece will be wiped off the map if they don't remain in the Eurozone.  The people there need to sacrifice more.

6. I'm really pissed that classified information leaked out on Iran, even though all the information is true.  However it leaked out, it didn't come from my Administration.

7.  Republicans are to blame for all our economic problems.  They are promoting anti-growth policies, which is very bad for 'Merica.  (where have I head that before?).

1. We already gave spent a boatload of money now, and this is the future when we were supposed to be responsible, only we can't because the boatload of money didn't fix things.

2. We already spent money expanding the nanny state and local goveernments, and on "shovel ready jobs." Where has it gotten us. Oh yea, with 8.2% unemployment and plunging labor force participation rates.

3. We laughably think Europe is fixable... where to even begin adressing that dilusion.

4. Eurpose has been spending a boatload of money for decades. Where has it gotten us. Oh yea, with unfixable debt problems.

5. We can't allow Greeze to be free to chart their own couorse, they must participate in the Eurozone because it's been such a roaring success.

6. Republicans keep blocking my handouts and vote buying tactics. Don't they realize how a failure to buy union votes will bite them at the ballot box? After all unions are such bit Republican contributors. There opposition is totally irrational, why shouldn't  they vote for their own destruction at the hands of the unions. Unions only need to buy one party with which to negotiate their wages and benefits.

That shovel ready jobs thing widened my bike trail and built four basketball courts for the guys ten blocks over. What could go wrong?

For some odd reason, I'm picturing 10 obese people all trying to play basketball, with one hand clutched to their chests.

But at least the bike trail is wide enough.

summary: a monitoring station went on the fritz because of volt spike, dead UPS. the station was reporting to both radiationnetwork and blackcats so both maps had the same spike, using two different measurements. likely a non-story.

Apprently cutting back on public sector jobs is "going in the wrong direction." So how about we just have state governments hire everyone as teachers and police. We'll need to leave some people left to build infrastructure, of course, and then the economy will boom... right. Of course nobody will be growing food, or building houses, or making iPads or movies, or music, or bottled water, or telephones, or cars, or anything else the private sector makes, but I guess the people who make the things we buy are just a drag on the economy... in Obama's world.

Or, head over to the UN to become secretary general - which is his goal - then he really can get away with doing nothing.

Plus, Michy and he can sniff up the ass of Pinch, the 'stars' and all the dying 60s liberals and activists in NYC waiting for John Lennon's 'imagine world' - well for everyone else, they still get the good food, entertainment and posh digs.

Either you folks do not know who Richard Koo is, or you can't read simple macroeconomics. This is a systemic Balance Sheet Recession -- requiring appropriate responses.

"Conservative" budget-hawk approaches would leave us in even worse shape.

We can always cure deficits and diminish the weight of dollar-denominated debts over a span of a decade or so. That's not even difficult.

What does it mean when a politician says spending in the short term but cuts in the long term? Regardless of the time frame the cuts never happen. The government never says "Oh, its the 'long term' now. We have to give up our power and money."

Long Term=When Obama is out of office?

Here is the Resume of the ZH blood-sucking Vampir/Zombie GODFATHER

Steve Levitt: Like a True Chicago Boy, Likes People to Go to Jail so Markets Can Be Free

Yves here. Readers reacted positively to the inaugural report by the S.H.A.M.E Project on Malcolm Gladwell. S.H.A.M.E. , stands for “Shame the Hacks who Abuse Media Ethics.” Its approach is to provide information about the background and funding sources of well-recognized journalists and pundits so that the public will be in a better position to recognize bias and hidden agendas in their reporting and analysis.

  • While a PhD student at MIT, Levitt published a counter-intuitive masterpiece whitewashing corruption in politics by “proving” that corporate campaign donations do not influence election outcomes. Levitt argued that “campaign money has about one-tenth the impact as was commonly accepted,” according to a 2003 New York Times Magazine profile—a stance that helped land him a tenured job at the University of Chicago.
  • In 1999, Levitt co-authored a paper arguing that an increase in abortion rates for black women in the 1970s was the reason for falling crime rates two decades later. “Basically, we had aborted the generation of criminals who would have been active in the 1990s,” he told Esquire magazine. His research led to accusations of racial eugenics, according to the New York Times(We know who THEY are)
  • In 1999, Levitt presented a paper for privatizing prison labor at a symposium hosted by a private prison consulting firm, arguing: “I would privatize prison industry. As long as the government is in charge of prison industries, it will be difficult if not impossible to avoid decisions being made with political rather than economic justifications.” Thirteen years later, Levitt’s privatized-prison-labor dream is a reality: Some 1 million state inmates are slaving away for wages averaging between $0.93 and $4.73 a day. African-Americans make up over 40% of the U.S. prison population. You won't be happy until Chattle Slavery is restored
  • Despite his belief in “free markets,” Levitt came out in support of the hugely unpopular Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), RIAA-backed legislation that would have given U.S. law enforcement unprecedented power to shut down and censor websites without due process. The reason Levitt supported SOPA? Because he believes one of the few things that government should do is “protect property rights.' There is no such thing as 'gross' hypocirsy for the TRUE believers.
  • Levitt’s second book, Superfreakonomics, contained a section that “debunked” climate-change science, asserting that CO2 does not cause global warming. One of the scientists cited and used to back up Levitt’s climate-change denialism, Jeffrey Severinghaus, accused Levitt of “flat-out misrepresentation” of his work, telling the Boston Globe, “Asserting that CO2 doesn’t cause warming at this point is tantamount to saying cigarette smoking doesn’t cause cancer. It’s just laughable.” Gravity doesn't exist because it entails 'regulation'.
  • In 2011, Levitt published a paper proving that poker is a game of “skill” and not “luck,” and used the Freakonomics website to advocate for legalized online gambling. The Chicago Tribune noted that Levitt’s support for the industry coincided with a federal crackdown on online gambling companies for fraud and money laundering, noting that Levitt’s “research could not be more timely.”
