i don't buy your thesis that gold will depreciate at the same rate as domestic fiat.
You have a twisted thus incorrect premise here. If I must trade 10 old for one new that's depreciation or a strong "inflation", actually it's "hyperinflation" as "trust" has fled the old dollar in your senario. See Zimbabwe. Gold will be traded for CADS, Yuan, whatever currency benefits one trading into neo dollars. Gold's not a USA-only asset, many will take it, worldwide, especially in the collapse of the "reserve currency of the world".

Man, I'm certainly tickled pink that I stopped particiating (1986 to be specific) in the "volunteering" of my hard earned precious metals, come April 15th of every year, towards the fueling of the corrupt, corporate military complex. The REAL reason there is an income tax is that the currency system is single payer. The Federal Reserve legally buys everything. They have a first lien on every dollar purchase. This i why if you don't pay your taxes and they come to sieze our house they file a NOTICE OF FEDERAL TAX LIEN. It uis a notice that a lien exists. It isn't created by non-payment of tax . It already existed the moment the house was purchased with dollars. If people endorsed their money none of this would happen. If people endorsed the money they would owe zero tax. Endorsement makes the note/bill a liability to the last endorser. Of course at some point in the future smeone could redeem that bll for lawful money but no one does that anymore especially the Federal Reserve.
It blows me away that people go nuts over the idea of a single payer health care system when the currency itself is single payer.

Whenever you can tie a valuable and indispensable foreign commodity [and in the case of the likes of oil/natural gas/global fuels is also a natural global asset rather than private possession but which, for reasons of personal selfish artificial enrichment is claimed to be owned by nations/states/corporations/oil companies/moguls etc. etc] to its purchase in a particular currency/pretty printed paper iou, is that product then bought for nothing of value and the oil is for virtually for free. ....... if you have lots of that particular currency or have a license to print as much of that currency as may be needed to purchase whatever is needed for ..... well, as has been demonstrated, is the real cost, nothing and is everything virtually for free, although you will be charged and taxed for the pleasure of others who live the high life for free, and be expected to pick up the tab for their wars and scams designed to enslave you and stop you learning of how you are controlled and subjugated.
