Must See: Greece Explained In One Picture
We were going to do a caption contest out of this image, but unfortunately this is not funny. It is tragic. Many people will lose all their money, savings, livelihood, and more because of this...
What is it? It is a picture taken at the Athens ministry of finance.
It is part of a full documentary (go to 24 minutes in for the lack of money shot) released a few days ago by German TV station ZDF called The Greek Lie. It is self-explanatory, and shows where 2 years of bailout funds went, or rather didn't, and why 2 years to the day after the first bailout, not only is Greece not fixed, but is days away from leaving the Eurozone, but at a cost to taxpayers of nearly half a trillion.
We urge anyone, even non-German speakers, to set aside 45 minutes and view the clip below. It is unsettling at best.

Geez, that's scary...
Wait.....the 2nd Act (3rd? 4th? Xth?) is about to begin. Hang on to your jock strap.
Gotta dig it outta the rubble first...
Let me say that ONCE enough people wake up (and waking up they are) it will bring about a global change the world has never seen nor will see again...
The ponzi is just unwinding...
It won't be long now.
Greece, do not be afraid ... go towards the light ...
German sounds scary! Escpially with the ominious music in the background!
Oh you! Don't be scared!

I can't belive they used shopping carts.
Someone was getting "paid", in "Euros" no less, to move that stuff around.
It's easier to schlep it around in a cart. And good practise to learn proper cart handling skills seeing as how many Greeks will be living out of a shopping cart in the years to come.
Shopping carts are the perfect conveyance and metaphor for Greek government finances.
Obviously the shopping carts don't belong to the Greek finance ministry any more than the stuff inside.
No, wait. If you look really close, you can see those are actually millions of lottery tickets purchased by the Greek government in the hope of winning the Greek Lotto!
That looks like one hell of a after New Years Party!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Or the Gub of Grease was playing Poker there with the bail out funds.
Desperately seeking subtitles
German subtitles are available on film. Does anyone know how to get automatic German to English translation from this?
The Goog is not quite that intelligent... yet.
You might be able to find a printed transcript and feed that to it.
But the Greek flag looks so innocent!
That looks like a Craigslist post picture:
Free Office Supplies - You Haul!
Well I hope when the time comes the appropriate people are held accountable. I'm afraid that won't be the case though and a lot of innocent people will die when TPTB decide it's getting a little too hot for them and they decide to kick off the next war.
Yes, it's so true that the Overlords may quite possibly orchestrate a big diversion [of the dire economic problems] by staging some big war in the current hotspot as what they did in the past! A very bleak high probability!
"This is what happens when the bailout money goes to Greece as a conduit for banks"
Lets get a German speaker to do an English voice over and post on you tube so we can send it to CNBC
you could translate it in to "Moron" and they still wouldn't know what to do with it...

That whole room has probably been repo'd out four times over...

Maybe JPM will buy this sh*t!
... it would make a helluva 'hedge' ...
You could indeed fill up a whale with it.
Perhaps they did.
Go long shredders, or will all that in the picture end up as the biggest bonfire in history(till the rest ignite), and add a little greece to the fire, could be epic?!?!?!
Does anyone actually believe that the US is in any better shape than Greece or the entire Eurozone?
Think again....What's taking place across the pond will soon boomerang back to its origination, where civil unrest/chaos will litter the streets.
"Does anyone actually believe that the US is in any better shape ..."
Nope, not for one instant.
No. In the Great Reset, Europe goes first, then the USA.
I agree, much easier to get the natives up in arms, fighting amongst themselves for a big distraction in Europe.
That looks like a lot of combustible material...
Guess they shouldn't have fallen all over themselves to let them in the Eurozone...
And it was only seventy years ago......................................History repeats itself as George S. would say,

Note the shopping carts in the first picture which I assume are stolen.
No, some people stack PM's, some carts and trash. The carts may actually be worth something though.
Where derivatives go to die!
"Now where did I leave my fiddle?"
Where is the tungsten stored?
Happens every time one consumes more than one produces. In this case the Greeks can't print and the Germans are finished being fleeced. Eventually savers in the US and bond holders abroad will get sick and tired of being ass raped by Bernanke and Geithner and well....you know.
Germany's public debt is over 2 trillion USD. It seems to me that they also are consuming more than they are producing.
Bend Over time for the USA Taxpayers (again)!
Greece is being dumped on the Germans by our friends in the East. Seems that WWI was started in the Balkans by the same crew. Something about either being Slav or sharing icons.
Germany is getting pushed around again. Not sure what that will turn into. Not a fun time if you are Polish. They never seem to get any joy out of jousting.
The Poles are pretty tough. I doubt NATO or the Germans will bother them. Russia might be another story. I think Europe and the USA are too broke to start yet another war. the police and military will be used to repress the citizenry for the banksters/elites/oligarchs.
Isn't that MeRS?
Looks a lot like the WFC Institutional Lending office circa 2003.

It looks like Wikileaks is going to have a field day with this crap...

We all knew the "bailout" was going almost entirely to cover loses in EU banks. What bankers the world over can't understand is if you remove all incentive to pay - debtors won't pay. When you push people too far - they stop playing the game. Look at almost any MSN, Yahoo or USA Today personal finance message board. They used to be dominated with how to improve your credit score and credit card rewards, now the comments are "FICO is a scam" and "pay cash" and "if you don't need it, don't buy it".
I know those blue folders, they are all about shadow banking double reporting of the past scam. Now that the reality goes beyond the fiction those blue files are like old porno movies on VHS; made obsolete by the internet never ending streaming.
Can't beat the new crowd? Join them, junk your old files and put the double accounting in a Casino; like Macau or Vegas. Lots of hot money will rush in then. Can't lose. Athens will become the biggest whore house of Europe, and Ukraine will have to eat old dry corn instead of licking on juicy white horn. That is, after the Euroligue football binge. Hooks are like nooks and crannies, they change their hold on the roving masses of hungry flash in tha pan madness, we call summer holidays. I'm sure Greece in 2013 will be hot place for hotter money and hottest cheap flesh.
Doesnt Ron Paul say it best ? : poor people in rich countries subsidizing rich people in poor countries... (aka the crooks...) thank you bailouts...
Actually, it looks more like rich and poor anywhere subsidizing US citizen middle class anywhere but hey, you dont win an election by speaking straight to the US citizen middle class. They elect people, you know. Not the poor or the rich.
need a translator...
Some German should youtube this with his/her voice over translation. This looks like something we all need to hear.
Greek Shipping Co. and Greek Orthodox Church DO NOT PAY TAXES - EXEMPT BY LAW
What's left? NOBODY IS PAYING TAXES because the government is totally corrupt and mismanaged.
The wealthy elite and church is off the hook. But Germany is supposed to pay?
FUCK THAT.
Dude...you aren't paying money to the Greeks, 90% of it is going to the banks.
Here's how it works. Bankers buy politicians and media, put in political shill who in turn runs up debts maybe throwing some crumbs to proles. Does some pork barrel stuff to elite so they keep their mouth shut. Runs up the debt to unimaginable levels with help hiding it by guess who, that's right the same banks that own the politicians. Then when it's totally unpayable, you start privatizing islands, ruins etc. and you ream the good German working people out of their tax money and use Greece as scapegoat and a flow through valve for money to the banks who aided the sovereign in running up the debt. Banks get paid, sovereign loses sovereignty, hard working people in Germany and yes believe it or not, Greece are impoverished and Brussels and its banker overlords become more powerful. This isn't Greece Vs. Germany its the world's hard working people vs banks. Period.
You left out the part about after the crash, they declare martial law, the state grabs the remaining land and wealth by decree, and begin forced labor of the muppets. Its all in the Central Planners Handbook.
Coming to a country near you.

CNBC is worried a bank run might happen......if you STILL have your money in the Greek banks....you deserve to starve...
the politicians are playing hot potato....
sorry...this game is over....

it's simply no more to run by now...

This is what many have suspected was going on behind the scenes! Now it is revealed. I often call Greece a near third world country, well, nobody would argue that now. Seriously, the corruption is beyond repair. The whole thing must collapse and be rebuilt.
Greece is toast, the people will feel severe pain, and this is moving on to Spain, Portugal and others! Spain "Too big to fail, Too big to Bail!"
Europe is screwed.
"The whole thing must collapse and be rebuilt."
What we mostly agree upon and talk about might be equivalent to that this whole enlightenment thing is about to go into reverse, reconquering some of our culture and rebuilding what is left of our intellect.
Greece always was a third world country. Getting in the euro was a chance to live like a first world country. The expensive euro then wiped out any industry in Greece. Half the ppulation works for the govt and is unionized.
California and the USA are also screwed. Hope and Change.
Progressive nightmare / Fabian Socialist Society, Rules of Man!

Next on 60 minutes we get a look into the super secret war room where JPMorgan kept its derivative transaction records. Also, a look into cannabalism as people who used to rely on SNAP bennefit cards are turning to eating each other insted.
Awwww snap...

I don't have a whole lot of German either so in watching I pretty much ignored the words, even the untertitles were in German, and while I am not sure of what was being said what the camera crew shot and what the editor left in seemed to be an obvious display of wealth inequality. I caught a few words about so many thousands who own yatchs and do not pay taxes, and that one guy that seemed to be saying to pay tax there was to fork money over to Al Capone.
This is not going to end well, it is not going to get better before it gets worse, and it will spread.
Big problem with sudden drop in Greek government revenues as well since the election. Average 40m a day has gone down to 25m a day average. People not paying their government issued bills/tax.
Probably turning everything in their bank accounts into Euros cash so they are not caught with their pants down when the unexpected bank holiday is announced and all Euros in Greek bank accounts are transmogrified into worthless New Era Drachmas with the wave of a Venizelos magic wand. Might as well add a zero at the end of the recalculated balance so that they can afford a loaf of bread after devaluation I, II and III happen in the first six weeks.
Nobody will have the hard currency to buy bread-baking supplies or energy for the oven. They need to be invaded by NATO so they can be "saved."
lakecity, did you mean some kind of NATO's contemporary style of "air-lifted humanitarian assistances" to solve the problems ??? Should it follow the Iraqi / Afghanistan / Libyan model???
So if everyone has their money out of the banks and holding in Euros.....I would...then the bank holiday comes....and the Government says only Dracmas allowed....but everyone has euros......could be a huge black market and better close the borders....those ships will be filled with contraband...and only sold to Euro holders....boy do I wish them luck....
Q: How do you buy a small Greek (or Spanish) bank?
A: Buy a big one..... and wait.
Looks like CNBC has changed their format - on the European side - actually was interesting - even some truth.
Disclaimer - I have just gotten back from Angola and don't feel well - so it may be I have malaria and am hallucinating....
Note: Krugman says this is a bullish picture.
Hope you feel better mate...but at least you have company - Cramer, Pisani and Liesman are hallucinating right along with you.
God no!!! AAAhhhhh KIll me...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0B0sFtRTlx4
Keep watching TV morons. Your viewership supports your serfdom. Some people are so stupid and deserve to be serfs.
Although the visuals pretty much sum it up. It would still be good to have an English version
Does anyone know of a version with English Subtitles?
The Wall Street Ranter
I am fluent in German watched the entire clip. This documentary doesn't reveal anything new, but clearly describes what happened in Greece after it was allowed to adopt the Euro. There are scenes and commentaries which remind me of Detroit. Even the most casual visitor to ZH realizes that this too could be our fate.
I read the transcript from the fellow who posted here and my bad German is good enough to get a decent idea.
What is staggering is they are acting like Greece is like East Germany and will need more help. Ditto Portugal and Spain. They will keep pushing thi EUSSR madness to the abyss. Insanity.
They cannot change a culture. They could through $12 trillion into Greece and Portugal.
Nein.
Music sounds like Wolf3D
Excellant - Merkyl & Co. must be the boss monsters.
Note: The hero in the game has gold helmet (no..... the other one)
It is not a coincidence that the flashcrash happened when the greek mob looked like it was about to storm parliament. Imagine if two years ago the odious greek state debt incurred to line the pockets of special interests connected to the greek govt and then passed off to the balance sheet of large TBTF institutions had been repudiated.. LTCM anyone ?? ...
"We were going to do a caption contest out of this image, but unfortunately this is not funny. It is tragic. Many people will lose all their money, savings, livelihood, and more because of this..."
And thats just the EU and US.
Oh wait...
(irony, if this was a video from New Zealand) - the language would be 'all greek' to them ;-)
This post explained in one word: DISGUSTING.
You remind me of those fat rich ladies in Africa fund raising parties, "Hihihi look at those poor black shitheads living in those huts" and then they donate some thousand dollars so they can sleep well...
You either support greek people or laugh at them. It doesn't go both ways. This is the mess of the corrupt political-bankster-corp complex, which the greek people tries to fight. What do you do except making fun of everything "bitchezz"?
Can you assure me that inspecting your nation's ministries ,or even your own houses, won't generate hundreds of pics like this?
This is ridiculous. Sometimes people laugh at someone so they don't face their own problems..
Actually mate, I have worked overseas in hotzones. So don't get all high and mighty. Humour is a coping mechanism when you either will cry, go mad or both.
So before you get all holier than now, try working there yourself and you'll find the humour there waaayyyy more cutting, and thats from the people who are there.
What a stupid self righteous ass. The vast majority of people at this site know full well it is our future. Of course people are cracking jokes, its called "gallows humor" you uptight idiot.
The Greeks didnt try to "fight" anything, they were perfectly content to live high on the hog when they had other peoples money. There are two major components to the crisis both in Europe in the US- a government and financial structure happy to play manipulation games as long as they could profit from it and kick the can and a populace happy to suck up what they could under the "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today" school of thought. Well, its Tuesday.
While financial and political chicanery is certainly half of the problem the other half is a stupid, complacent population of cud chewers too busy chasing entertainment and sensation to bother attending to their part of what makes democracy or representative republic function- paying attention to what is going on and having a clue. They chose to be victims, just as the European and American populations are now.
So it seems the whole world chose to be the victims. What a brilliant explanation! Lets hang all them greedy bastards! Great. Do you have any other brilliant thoughts to add? Maybe that bankers are the suckers of all this, poor guys just wanted to help people realise their wishes!..
Humor is one thing. Mockery is another. This picture is plain sad, we didnt need this to either laugh or understand that things went wrong in greece.
Actually, I do have one more brilliant thought to add...
If you buy a vice clamp and attach it to a sturdy table, you can screw it down on the pole in your posterior and use the resulting leverage to pop your head free.
You never get to who is really responsible. The people behind the US Civil War and wars before and after. They live in very big mansions in the UK, Switzerland, France and probably Germany. They always survive like parasites. They control countries, TV (all of TV) and armies.
Garbage in..... Garbage out..... ummmm in...... ahhh fuck it
I wouldn't be astonished if there isn't enough ink for the next poll's ballots.
It's the training room. This is where they train for their future as homeless outcasts. Shopping cart, check..Garbage bags, check... Old computer chair to sit and beg on, check... cardboard boxes for the new vacation home, check...

I think this is supposed to be Greece's IRS. The joke is they collect very little money at all. Half the country is in the govt "workers" union aka the "work" for the govt.
Thanks for the chuckle:
a) That man's magnificent wind-swept eyebrows.
b) 5:58. Prof Heinz A Richter typing directly into a book with a PC keyboard. He's lost his marbles.Must be the stress.
The Ministry of Finance's automated office-of-the-future pales in comparison.
Once Germany goes back to the mark and Greece to the drachma, this joke will be making the rounds:
Q: What's the rate of exchange between the pound, the drachma, and the mark?
A: In Athens, for a pound of drachmas, you can get a mark.
?Austerity cuts for sale?
Let me explain: Austerity calls for government cuts, mostly emplyees, so even finance ministry looses filing staff, gets disorganised which causes more loses trough disorganisation. Austerity leeds to higher deficit and more pain
loose is the opposite of tight and rhymes with goose and moose. It's also the order given to archers to release their arrows ...
lose is the opposite of win (or find) and rhymes with choose and booze ...
loser is the opposite of winner and rhymes with boozer, cruiser and end-user ...
loss is the opposite of gain and rhymes with boss and toss.
Leeds is a place in England ... you meant: leads, which is another widely misused word due to the confusion that the metal called lead rhymes with red and the verb to lead rhymes with greed and seed and its past tense is led which rhymes with shed and bed ... He led me down the garden path which leads to the lead mine.
Confusing, eh? I guess that’s why they don’t bother to teach this stuff any more, even though it was Third Grade material a few short years ago. That’s progress!
you missed ?tinkerer?
No I didn't. "Critical Tinkerer" is obviously a pun, and it's exactly that form of "wit" which will become impossible if everyone had their own notion about spelling ... doncha see?
+1 Skool aint whut is uze to be, i"m sekond year enginearing stundent finding skool a bit ezeer this time rownd.

Hmmmmm, how do we know it's Grrece? Could be JPMs office, MF Goblowme, or Barry's stash.
The future photo at the US Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Trash for your printed funny money.
This is what you get from now on Germany.
does anyone have english links connecting the greek mafia to the ministry of finance?
Bank America's foreclosure processing unit?
Greece has been on a 2 millenia losing streak.
This is what I heard growing up, about my own birth country India. And today India is supposed to be emerging super-power. Thank goodness India had no rich bretherens to take it under their wings.
What is going on around 28 minuten? It looks like some Asian guy going to Greece. Was this Chinese or Japanese bailout money? The guy looks Japanese and they are more broke than Greece.
I laugh that Europe thought China would bail them out. The Chinese work their people like dogs. Maybe the Greece could donate 6 million kidneys and other vital organs to the Chinese. The Africans are learning that the white slave drivers were BoyScouts compared to the Chinese now running all over Africa now.
I feel sorry for Greece. It's cruel to allow a poor country/individual to join their wealthy bretheren and then get booted out and laughed at, when wealthy relatives find out that it cannot pull it's weight. Before they were just poor, now they are poor and deeply ashamed. Lesson to all of us. Stick with your own kind.
I would love to see an English version.
I did a rough summary translation on earlier page.
Do you have a link to the translation? Vielen danke.
Sad. Greece has always been like this. The evil EUSSR scum are also at fault. Taxpayers always get screwed.
It starts here: http://www.zerohedge.com/news/must-see-greece-explained-one-picture#comm...
4 posts in all earlier in this thread.
The same German TV station told its viewers two years ago that the taxpayers' money spent on bailing out Greece is a good deal.
There is hope then....people do learn...good
