Next, Comes The Impeachment: Republicans Seek All White House Communication On Solyndra Since Obama Inauguration

Tyler Durden's picture

This can not be good for a president already mired in 20% real unemployment and 98.9% Debt to GDP: “Nearly eight months into our investigation, documents provided to the Committee last Friday confirm those closest to the President - top advisors like Valerie Jarrett, Larry Summers, and Ron Klain - had direct involvement in the Solyndra mess.  In addition to the cast of West Wing characters with access to the Oval Office, documents reveal a startlingly cozy relationship between wealthy donors and the President’s confidantes, especially in matters related to Solyndra.  While the President claims ‘hindsight is always 20/20’ and the loan went ‘through the regular review process,’ the facts tell a much different story with some of the loudest alarm bells on Solyndra’s viability coming from within his very own administration.”  Next up: "please define the term 'crony venture capital taxpayer funded loan." Also, stories like this can not help.

Just released by the House Energy And Commerce Committee

Recently Provided Documents Reveal President’s Inner Circle Voiced Concern with Solyndra, Wealthy Campaign Donors Had Direct Line to West Wing

Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chairman Cliff Stearns (R-FL) are seeking all communications between White House staff and officials regarding now-bankrupt Solyndra’s $535 million loan guarantee.  The Committee leaders have requested all documents dating back to President Obama’s inauguration on January 20, 2009. Recently produced documents reveal the President’s closest confidantes closely monitored the Solyndra loan and wealthy donors also weighed in on Solyndra to those officials closest to the Oval Office.

Subcommittee Chairman Stearns made the following statement:

“Nearly eight months into our investigation, documents provided to the Committee last Friday confirm those closest to the President - top advisors like Valerie Jarrett, Larry Summers, and Ron Klain - had direct involvement in the Solyndra mess.  In addition to the cast of West Wing characters with access to the Oval Office, documents reveal a startlingly cozy relationship between wealthy donors and the President’s confidantes, especially in matters related to Solyndra.  While the President claims ‘hindsight is always 20/20’ and the loan went ‘through the regular review process,’ the facts tell a much different story with some of the loudest alarm bells on Solyndra’s viability coming from within his very own administration.”

In the letter to White House Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler, the Committee leaders write, “On May 24, 2010, a DOE official emailed Ron Klain, Chief of Staff to Vice President Biden, to say that ‘we believe the company is okay in the medium term, but will need some help of one kind or another down the road.’  Mr. Klain forwarded that email to Valerie Jarrett and stated that, based on DOE’s evaluation, ‘there are some risk factors here — but that’s true of any innovative company that POTUS would visit.  It looks like it is OK to me, but if you feel otherwise, let me know.’  Ms. Jarrett responds that, ‘I’m comfortable if you’re comfortable.’ Later that same day, OMB staff traded emails about Solyndra.  Their outlook on Solyndra’s prospects, however, was less positive.  In one email, an OMB staff member stated, “I am increasingly worried that this visit could prove embarrassing to the Administration in the not too distant future, given 1) what we heard today about DOE that Solyndra is delaying their IPO at least until the end of the year, and 2) what the auditors said about Solyndra making it through the year absent new financing . . . .  It might be worth flagging to policy officials given this high-profile visit.”  Other emails produced by OMB also show that OMB staff did not believe that DOE was adequately monitoring the loan guarantees it had issued.”

When talking about 20% real unemployment why is it so scarcely mentioned that technological enhancements have rendered many unskilled jobs obselete. Cheap power and high technology has meant that many simple repetitive tasks no longer require significant man hours. However instead of all of us having to work less and enjoying the fruit of the labours of machines which is equivalent to billions of man hours per year. Instead the slave owners are getting rich and the masses are getting screwed by the crappy system which makes the slave owners immeasurably rich.

I'm not against technology at all - but surely the chump stain in charge has got to factor this into his Obanomics. It's structural and the structure stinks!!!

"why is it so scarcely mentioned that technological enhancements have rendered many unskilled jobs obselete"?

Because:

Although many formerly unskilled jobs have been largely eliminated, large numbers of NEW unskilled-jobs are made possible through the same technological advancement.

Working a till in a store or restaurant is *now* unskilled labor, thanks to our computers and software, while 80 years ago you'd have to be able to read, write, and do arithmetic to hold such a position.  The average ditch-digger of 1930 wouldn't have a chance of landing today's job at a McDonald's register.

Technology is neutral.  Economic "problems" are failures of social structure, nothing more.

I've been trying to come up with a solution to this for a few years, along with a few other people (mostly smarter than me).  Easy if you forget human nature, and philosophies past -- maybe.  But since human nature rules, and people will stick to what seems to have worked until finally it IS different - we have no solution.  And anything I have that could come close would be close enough to call "redistribution" that I'd be laughed off (or thrown off) here.  Because even that means some human is in charge of doing the redistributing.  Don't we have issues with that one right here on this thread?  Sucks...no easy answers for this one and it's so real that all too many people avoid seeing it, as any solution whatever doesn't go their way.

If you think they care about this stupid little investigation, you are wrong because they are going ahead with this:

  • The Tonopah Solar company in Harry Reid's Nevada is getting a $737 million loan from Obama's DOE.
  •  The project will produce a 110 megawatt power system and employ 45 permanent workers.
  • That's costing us just $16 million per job.
  • One of the investment partners in this endeavor is Pacific Corporate Group (PCG).
  • The PCG executive director is Ron Pelosi who is the brother to Nancy's husband.

Dunno where you're from, stranger, but you totally misunderstand the point of American Impeachment Theater.

It has nothing to do with "getting" the guy in office--it's just a way to provide public-relations cover for the fact that government is completely dysfunctional.  It cannot and will not do ANYTHING to address any issues important to the public, so the politicians need to distract people from their failings.

It's public entertainment, not government policy.  If Obama IS impeached (which looks unlikely to me as yet), there's no way he'll be convicted and removed from office.

Maybe it could become a new tradition.  All Democrat Presidents get impeached.  At least we can continue along with that until the single-party ideal is achieved.

Main thing I'd like is some assistance setting the priorities, and filling out the deck.  It's all raytraced, so it wouldn't be difficult to shuffle the deck a bit- takes about 10 minutes to make any given card.  I'll rework as needed and sell the source files and rights for a few completed decks, and a handful of silver.  They're free to ZH, if they want them, but you aren't Tyler D.

I will note that the quality is workmanlike, not artistic.  It's clean, but not inspired.  Keiser is offering a deck that is all filigreed and nice looking.  This is about halfway between that and the semi-infamous Iraqi Terrorist deck- I could do better, but frankly, it's kind of sickening staring at pictures of these fucks for hours at a crack.  I'd be offering the files needed to drop the things at any print shop and walk out with finished product in hand.

I vote affirmative for impeachment.

And now the high crimes seem to be arriving in clusters.  To Solyndra, I would add the deliberate arming of Mexican drug gangs (“Fast and Furious”)…high fire power weapons…with knowledge and probably approval through Attorney General Holder and Number One aide Rahm Emanuel.

But the front burner impeachment charge must come through President Obama’s setting aside the U.S. Constitution’s clear guarantee of due process for American citizens and acting as judge, jury and executioner in the murders in Yemen. The Bush and Obama team delivered concentration camps, torture, unmanned death drones, secret prisons scattered around the world, hired armies of mercenaries, and war after undeclared war.

And now with a deliberate policy of assassination, Americans included, Obama has become Netanyahu’s hired assassin.

Only impeachment could begin to recover any fragment of America’s moral heritage.

The Birth Cirtificate is and issue but the bigger - KNOWN issue is that Barry's Dad was NOT a Citizen of the US.  That DISQUALIFIES anyone - Obama in this case - from being President if BOTH parents are not US Citizens.  To impeach is the wrong move because what we have for a President is a Usurper.  He has to be removed.

Legal Dictionary Merriam-Webster Main Entry: usurp
Pronunciation: yu-'s&rp, -'z&rp
Function: verb
Etymology: Latin usurpare  to take possession of without a strict legal claim, from usus  use + rapere  to seize
transitive verb :  to seize and hold (as office, place, or powers) in possession by force or without right usurp  the powers of the legislature> intransitive verb :  to seize or exercise authority or possession wrongfullyusur·pa·tion /"yü-s&r-'pA-sh&n, -z&r-/ noun  — usurp·er /yu-'s&r-p&r, -'z&r-/ noun

"Barry's Dad was NOT a Citizen of the US.  That DISQUALIFIES anyone"

There's no requirement that a President's father be a US citizen.

At least get your facts straight - there is no requirement that a person's parents be US citizens before you can be president. I hate Obama bin laden as much as the next guy but let's go through the legal process of having him tried convicted and executed.

Really? I guess you don't know how to read then. To be a "natural born citizen" as used in the Constitution means you were born an American from an American mother and father. They could be naturalized, but it must have been before the birth. Obama's claimed birth father was not, and never was, an American of any kind.

Yes, he is an American by birth. But he is not a natural born American. Nor is Marco Rubio. His parents were not naturalized at the time of his birth. He is an American by birth also, but not a "natural born American".

There is a reason the Constitution stated that. A good example of this principle is Hitler, he was an Austrian, not a German. He had no born loyalty to Germany. Those are facts. The Founders wanted a person without divided or no loyalty to our country.

The Banksters always try to use someone of questionable loyalty, such as Clinton, who made a trip to Moscow as a university student, of what purpose, unknown.

Again, black mailable, questionable loyalty. That's how they roll. Do your due diligence. If you are waiting for the media to help you or do your vetting for you, you are fucked.

Read from Vattel’s book on the Law of Nations, which reads as follows;

“The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens. As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights. The society is supposed to desire this, in consequence of what it owes to its own preservation; and it is presumed, as matter of course, that each citizen, on entering into society, reserves to his children the right of becoming members of it. The country of the fathers is therefore that of the children; and these become true citizens merely by their tacit consent. We shall soon see whether, on their coming to the years of discretion, they may renounce their right, and what they owe to the society in which they were born. I say, that, in order to be of the country, it is necessary that a person be born of a father who is a citizen; for, if he is born there of a foreigner, it will be only the place of his birth, and not his country.”

Those who added this requirement to the Constitution were aware of Vattel's book. As an aside, I believe that Chester Arthur (#21) was not qualified under this clause. For better or worse, keeping documents like the Constitution concise left open the possibility that future generations of normal citizens would not understand the intent. As another example, one might research what constituted the 'happiness' we're entitled to pursue.

Well done.  Now if only we might get a ruling by the branch that interprets the Constitution, we'd really be cookin' with gas.  Another tweak here or there and we could have JUSTICE.

(I'd bet "strict constructionism" would fail to resolve that sort of question.)

Because they have been so good at that in the past.

This is more circuses for you, their base.  So many people on this site claim to be libertarian, but your just embarrased at the Republicans.

Maybe I'd take this more seriously if they had impeached GWB, Cheney, Ashcroft, or Gonzolas.  Everything they did was FAR more impeachable.  I mean really, 500 million in loans to a failed company is impeachable, but losing 11 Billion in cash on pallets is an "accounting error".

Ron Paul Is America’s Only Chance | Posted on LRC Blog by Laurence Vance on October 4, 2011 07:23 AM

If you haven't done so already, I urge you to read the lead LRC articles for yesterday ("The Day America Died" by Paul Craig Roberts) and today ("Will Uncle Sam Go Postal in South Asia?" by Eric Margolis). This is all you need to see that U.S. foreign policy is out of control and dangerous to America and the world. Since the executive branch largely sets foreign policy, Ron Paul is America's only chance before it's too late, if it's not too late already. The other Republican candidates may have better economic policies than Obama, but their foreign policy is just as bad. If Ron Paul is not in the White House, then it will be more war and more police statism.

Boy, I get tired of the statists like Vance that hang out over at LRC.com. The problem isn't "bad US foreign policy" but the fact that people like him believe such a thing even exists.

All he (as well as Roberts and Margolis) does is to carry water for the criminal cartel d.b.a. "government."

Is it really too hard to put away their keyboards long enough to read some Rothbard? I realize that the man wrote a lot, but damn, he's got some smaller books, too.

The real game afoot here is:

" What did the President know and when did he know it? "

If he didn't know anything, is it because he is an incompetent executive or that he hired terribly flawed people, reflecting his own very poor judgment?

The beatings that come out in these kinds of hearings are career-ending when they are based on a juicy scandal that is something the general public can understand and resonate with. . Just ask Elliott Spritzer, for instance...

Folks, this is a small matter, but big enough to warrant the "dig deeper" scenario. Wait until the real fireworks start. Like, how barry soetero fraudulently got into office. How he obtained the fake SS#, how the DNC forms were falsified (Pelosi signed them), the proven forged birth record, this is only the beginning.

He can't resign that would be to easy escape. A life sentence with Holder in his cell is lenient for the crimes committed against "we the people". All signed bills, all Justice appointments, all policy will be void as the truth of the liar-in-chief comes out in bucket fulls.

The pressing problem is not indictiing barry soetero (a slam dunk with present evidence), but prosecuting 535 Congress members that are/were/still are complicit to the cover up. That includes Republicans. WB7 needs to construct Visual Combat on the usurper, liar-in-chief, impostor, treasonous, oath perjured Marixists.

All the background of staff, like Jarrett, Axelrod (Russian), Gibbs liar extraordinaire, Carney cover man, the czar club roots as Communist party members. Then wait until the BIG money traces it's way to Pelosi family, Dodd retirement funds (HeHe), Barney Frank productions (you know), etc.

It won't be Solyndra that will bring them down, it will be Operation Fast and Furious, the gun running program run by the ATF with links right up to the White House. More than 200 dead including a US agent. Plenty of witness including some whistle blowers. Oddly they were so cocky they didn't even seem to bother to cover their tracks. It is not the role of government to gamble with public money. Private venture capital gets to bet their own money. Investors, retail and institutional, get to bet THEIR money. I can't imagine there being any real consequences for this.  Even if he IS impeached it's too late, the people pulling his strings are just about to get another puppet in office, unless Ron Paul is elected (which  would be absolutely spectacular) who will continue the road towards complete loss of any remaining resemblance of our freedoms and rights, economically or otherwise.

This piece by RT from YouTube says it pretty simply, but very accurately.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laUrOCved7I

Is this really the most tragic and stupid thing he's done with taxpayer money anyway?  I mean this loans don't even reach into the billions right?

I think his continued support of the completely illegal (unconstitutional) Federal Reserve  (Or whatever way you want to characterize the relationship between the executive branch and the Fed) has already warranted impeachment over and over. Along with abuse of executive power, etc, along with just about every president since and including Lincoln.
