Obama is about to address (as of 1:15 pm Eastern, so the sandtrap was obviously a monster) America's illegal immigrants, and critical Hispanic vote, advising them he has successfully avoided this pest known as Congress, and that henceforth not all of them will be deported. The immigrants that is, not Congress... although that too may change. Because remember: the only thing better than record part-time jobs is recorder part-time jobs. Also remember: one can't affix a price to securing the vote... of those who are ineligible to vote.

Today our local Boy Scout troop put the flags out on the front lawn for Flag Day (as they do for every house on every holiday in the neighborhood). It's a nice way to outsource real patriotism, anyway. So, today, based upon my own assessment of the state of this country, I walked out and rehung the flag upside down, representing the political distress and moral disorder in which this country finds itself. We'll see if they keep putting the flag on my lawn come Independence Day.

The real question is, at what point do normal citizens finally say enough is enough, and start making their voices heard. I agree to some extent with what you are saying, things are still not that bad, if you compare the US with say North Korea, or Egypt, or some other third world dictatorship. But does that mean we sit idle until it gets that bad? I think it is a better idea to start drawing attention to these issues now, so that hopefully enough people become aware so that something is done.
I'm not doing it for fun. It's the true expression of what I feel and it symbolizes all the measures I am taking in my life to protect myself and my loved ones from what I perceive as criminal and unintended consequential behavior by the state. It bothers me that the Boy Scouts put this flag on everyone's lawn (we don't even pay for the service). It is 100% participation without consulting or meaning, which should smack a little N. Korean to you. It is patriotism for patriotism's sake. It is the dangerous empty allegience that leads the unexercised mind to complacency with fascism.
Also, the Boy Scouts left all the flags overnight without illumination, which I personally found disrespectful and a violation of proper conduct with the flag.

But your ignorance offends me to the nth degree. Although it will matter little to you, here's a bit of personal history for you to think about before you blanket blast every migrant away:
My mother's parents are both originally born and raised in Mexico. Granddad crossed the Rio illegally back in '48 and worked as a migrant for 5 years. When he realized what the country could mean for himself and his family, he went back across, applied for a Visa, came over, brought my pregnant Grandmother who had my mother (the youngest of all their children and the only US born child they had), then he sent her back until she could qualify for a visa herself, all the time working the fields and sending it back so the family could survive. Once she got her Visa, they came across, with 11 children, and worked the fields from Florida to California, year in, year out. My mother had the highest education of them all; making it to the 7th Grade.
Now, they all worked, they paid taxes, eventually the became naturalized citizens in the late '70's, and all us grandkids; we graduated High School; some of us went to college, most of us own our homes, and yes, there are a few bad apples mixed into the bunch, but I have to say, on an average scale of latino criminal per family and white criminal per family, we have a lower rate of infractions. And we all work.
So should we all be deported because of the first time Granddad crossed?
Now one step further, my father is 100% Apache Indian, born in Arizona. Does that trump you and your lineage? You see, my mother is a legal citizen by birth, my father is a legal citizen by any definition of land right, birth and history. And it kind of pisses me off that you like to lump only one side of the equation as 'bad'.
As a further note, my 'White' sister (we have the same father, different mothers) is dating a Hispanic, who by unfortunate circumstances was born in Mexico, WHILE HIS SIBLINGS WERE ALL BORN IN THE US, and the government looks at him as an illegal. He's applied for citizenship, his mother is a naturalized citizen and his family all has good money to prove he won't be a burden on society. He's been deported twice, although he owns a home here and a business, pays taxes, paid for his vehicle's and home through hard work (and I mean some pretty labor intensive stuff) and yet the government regularly denies his application for either a VISA or a work permit. He has no criminal record (other than deportation) and is smarter than most people I know. Oh, and no kids or bastards running around that he doesn't pay for. So is he a 'parasite'?
And the reason he comes back is simple: It's unfair that he doesn't want to live in a drug ridden country, in poverty, while his siblings are all 'Legal'. The government doesnt care about his home, vehicle, business, because he pays taxes, but only that he was born before his mother was naturalized and got picked up and deported on a sting when he was only 17 and working part time at a job while going to high school.
So yeah, you offend me, and totally piss me off. I think immigration should be changed, and it requires some sensible thought put into it. But that will never happen under this current government, and never when people like you don't actually THINK and determine what would work best for OUR country.

Know something funny? I'm proud of my history only because of the positive things I've accomplished, and the good things the individuals in my family have done. Not because of NationState heritage. I agree, like fiat, the concept has passed, especially in this land where we point out the flaws in other States while choking the life out of our own.
I don't even speak Spanish. A little Deutsche from when I was stationed there, but Mom wanted me to succeed, not be a migrant, so English only in our home, so we could go places, not so we had to lick boots or accept BS; gave us the ability to look 'em in the eye and challenge their concepts without a accent barrier.

let's just say I spent the majority of my adulthood outside of amrka, and have no "allegiance" to something that's an invented tall tale to begin with.
and I practice discernment in all my interactions - bottom lines are never based on "appearances" and always come from getting to know the individual, irrespective of "heritage."

I sense desperation...if you recall, democrats were saying up until election day that the recall race in WIsconsin was a dead heat. But money from the Democratic Party HQ and the unions stopped flowing to the effort about two weeks before the election. Obama flew over Wisconsin on his way to Minnesota but failed to make a stop. What does this tell us? It tells us that internal polling told them the truth at least two weeks before the election. It told us that Obama knew in advance of what would be considered an embarrassment and did not want to be connected to it. I would suggest that Obama's recent acts, coming out of the blue with no forewarning, are the hopeful reaches of a desperate campaign trying to gain some traction. Unfortunately for him, I believe this latest act will have the same results as the other recent things he has done...it will backfire on him. I believe he will alienate far more voters than he will attract. But, I guess when you're desperate and have run out of meaningful targets, you start shooting at anything hoping it will have a positive impact. This guy can't be voted out of office to soon in IMHO.
As a side note: when I think of the organizational disaster his mangement team has created, a single word comes to my mind (and it makes me smile)...Clusterfuck!
