Obama On America's Drought: Blame Congress

Tyler Durden's picture

Last week Obama insinuated that in the aftermath of the "amazing" post-bankruptcy GM recovery, his next plan is to bailout, well, everyone: "I believe in American workers, I believe in this American industry, and now the American auto industry has come roaring back... Now I want to do the same thing with manufacturing jobs, not just in the auto industry, but in every industry." Also, as it appears, the Bailout'er-In-Chief has taken the saying "make it rain" a little too close to heart, and is now taking the worst drought in decades as a personal central planning challenge. Just because he can. There is one thing preventing him for bailing out US farmers: that thing apparently is evil congress. From his weekly address: "This is an all hands on deck response...  But my administration can't do it alone. Congress needs to do its part too. They need to pass a farm bill that not only helps farmers and ranchers respond to these kinds of disasters, but also makes necessary reforms and gives them certainly year round.... So call your members of congress, write them an email and tell them that now is the time to come together and get this done. Too many Americans are suffering right now to let politics get in the way." All righty then GOP - you heard the president: stop blocking the man who would end the drought if not for your disturbing lack of faith, and vote promptly for "Let's All Make It Rain: It's Only Fair" bill. How else can the systematic bailout of everyone and everything proceed as planned?

"pass a farm bill that not only helps farmers and ranchers respond to these kinds of disasters, but also makes necessary reforms and gives them certainty year round"

-yeah, like farmers know any certainty. Now the democrats can decree rain. ObamaVision can control the elements and guarantee security and welfare for all.

The answer to the drought will not be found in the Oval Office or in Congress.  One only need to look at John Boehner's tear ducts for the solution.

He is also headed back to Chicago in January, which is where he belongs.

social security history:

1937:    2%

1950:   3%

1956:    4%

1961:    6%

1972:     9.2%

1977:   9.9%

1983:    10.8%

1984:    11.4%

1993:    12.4%

yes. you pay 12.4% for social security because you pay 6.2% and your employer pays 6.2% which of course they take into calculation in your paycheck (lower)

politicians are likely to kick the can down the road by increasing taxes to 18%

"Perhaps China has a HAARP facility of their own?"

It is well known the Russians have had weather control tech for many decades and were even selling it after the Soviet collapse.  The US has it too of course.

If the slow-kill cocktail of high fructose corn syrup, prescription "medication", artificial sweetener, contaminated drinking water, GMO poison isn't working fast enough then it can always be hastened along with a nice drought to decimate the crops.  It also has the added benefit of getting the remaining family owned farmers off their lands and getting the land into the hands of Monsanto.

Pray to the Fed and Congress and see how that works. As I recall, the creation of the Fed would take the "cycle" out of business cycles. If God is not in heaven then He must certainly be somewhere in Washington, because I have personally heard promises to feed all the poor, comfort the afflicted, employ the unemployed, secure retirements, heal union members' wives from cancer, change the temperature of the earth, provide fair outcomes in life, etc....lots of big promises from someone or something pretty powerful and ominipotent. Just like the televangelists we love to deride, Washington promises to do its work with your "donations". And now the need is particularly critical in these hard times caused by Republicans and too much freedom.

Donate now, before it is too late! Millions are counting on you!

I would like to point out that we still have a couple more months left for summer.

End of Sept is typical harvest time.  Super markets are selling fresh Squash around here, I usually like my pumpkins and squash when the leaves are changing colour.  Heat, no rain, stresses the plants out and most would go hermaphrodite and push pollen and seed cycles in a wickedly messy fashion.  Also creates that magical condition that allows for the spawning of the locust storms.

Insects come in waves over a summer, and grass hoppers drop their eggs and hatch when the conditions are right, yet the biological push to procreate acts like pressure in a boiler.  The longer all those egg hatching cycles are delayed waiting it pushes the sheer volume of grasshoppers that hatch at once.  In addition to improved conditions for swarms of grass hoppers and locusts, it delays mosquito, deer flies, horse flies and black flies.

I would suggest to anyone in the tristate area to just leave town for a month.

Other than the usual drought and plague of locust cycles.

YUM!  SPider Mites!!  I'm off Bananas and Mangoes for a while now.  Fruity goodness or lime disease...

There is a new type of ZH crew on here lately. I see them junking everywhere. It looks like the GenY douchebags finally made there way here. They don't have much to say because they are pretty stupid. They may be tired because they just got back from their mudder. They are a little irritated because their parents had no luck scoring them a cake job at the job fair while they were gone. But hey they keep their savings account filled enough to hit up brother jimmy's every weekend and back slap themselves silly. This group is the key to the middle class success. As long as they are incapable of earning a living and displaying any independence you would think there would be enough jobs out there for those who can....

don't make it partisan.

when hippies found out their love of money and materialism, they became more ruthless than their parents....

shopping for home remodeling and complaining about youngsters is why boomers missed out on any say to their politicians who passed laws such as this way back in 1998:

The Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 is a United States Congressional statement of policy calling for regime change in Iraq.[1][2] It was signed into law by President Bill Clinton, and states that it is the policy of the United States to support democratic movements within Iraq. The Act was cited in October 2002 to argue for the authorization of military force against the Iraqi government.

Plenty of boomers unware that US government is going to spend TRILLIONS more in their next target: Iran

The Iran Freedom Support Act (Pub.L. 109-293, 120 Stat. 1344, H.R. 6198, enacted September 30, 2006) is an Act of Congress that appropriated $10 million and directed the President of the United States to spend that money in support of groups opposed to the Iranian government. Opponents claimed the bill was a first step towards a US-led invasion of the country.

I am in my mid 30's with kids and am around kids between 1-5 all the time. They are an interesting bunch. It's amazing to see their minds at work. All they want is to learn and understand and be like their parents. A lot of these parents I see are hardworking (a lot of them paper pushers but they get after it). It's amazing to see these parents totally whiffing on instilling anything valuable in them. The parents are too busy updating their facebook pages with some stupid photo to give a shit what the kid is actually doing. We are so fucked it's not even funny. Although if you can teach your kid well in the midst of this you probably have a future 1 percenter on your hands. They will run circles around their age group. The key is you actually have to give a shit.
