Obama On America's Drought: Blame Congress

Tyler Durden's picture

Last week Obama insinuated that in the aftermath of the "amazing" post-bankruptcy GM recovery, his next plan is to bailout, well, everyone: "I believe in American workers, I believe in this American industry, and now the American auto industry has come roaring back... Now I want to do the same thing with manufacturing jobs, not just in the auto industry, but in every industry." Also, as it appears, the Bailout'er-In-Chief has taken the saying "make it rain" a little too close to heart, and is now taking the worst drought in decades as a personal central planning challenge. Just because he can. There is one thing preventing him for bailing out US farmers: that thing apparently is evil congress. From his weekly address: "This is an all hands on deck response...  But my administration can't do it alone. Congress needs to do its part too. They need to pass a farm bill that not only helps farmers and ranchers respond to these kinds of disasters, but also makes necessary reforms and gives them certainly year round.... So call your members of congress, write them an email and tell them that now is the time to come together and get this done. Too many Americans are suffering right now to let politics get in the way." All righty then GOP - you heard the president: stop blocking the man who would end the drought if not for your disturbing lack of faith, and vote promptly for "Let's All Make It Rain: It's Only Fair" bill. How else can the systematic bailout of everyone and everything proceed as planned?

-yeah, like farmers know any certainty. Now the democrats can decree rain. ObamaVision can control the elements and guarantee security and welfare for all.

"Perhaps China has a HAARP facility of their own?"

It is well known the Russians have had weather control tech for many decades and were even selling it after the Soviet collapse.  The US has it too of course.

If the slow-kill cocktail of high fructose corn syrup, prescription "medication", artificial sweetener, contaminated drinking water, GMO poison isn't working fast enough then it can always be hastened along with a nice drought to decimate the crops.  It also has the added benefit of getting the remaining family owned farmers off their lands and getting the land into the hands of Monsanto.

Pray to the Fed and Congress and see how that works. As I recall, the creation of the Fed would take the "cycle" out of business cycles. If God is not in heaven then He must certainly be somewhere in Washington, because I have personally heard promises to feed all the poor, comfort the afflicted, employ the unemployed, secure retirements, heal union members' wives from cancer, change the temperature of the earth, provide fair outcomes in life, etc....lots of big promises from someone or something pretty powerful and ominipotent. Just like the televangelists we love to deride, Washington promises to do its work with your "donations". And now the need is particularly critical in these hard times caused by Republicans and too much freedom.

Donate now, before it is too late! Millions are counting on you!

I would like to point out that we still have a couple more months left for summer.

End of Sept is typical harvest time.  Super markets are selling fresh Squash around here, I usually like my pumpkins and squash when the leaves are changing colour.  Heat, no rain, stresses the plants out and most would go hermaphrodite and push pollen and seed cycles in a wickedly messy fashion.  Also creates that magical condition that allows for the spawning of the locust storms.

Insects come in waves over a summer, and grass hoppers drop their eggs and hatch when the conditions are right, yet the biological push to procreate acts like pressure in a boiler.  The longer all those egg hatching cycles are delayed waiting it pushes the sheer volume of grasshoppers that hatch at once.  In addition to improved conditions for swarms of grass hoppers and locusts, it delays mosquito, deer flies, horse flies and black flies.

I would suggest to anyone in the tristate area to just leave town for a month.

Other than the usual drought and plague of locust cycles.

YUM!  SPider Mites!!  I'm off Bananas and Mangoes for a while now.  Fruity goodness or lime disease...

shopping for home remodeling and complaining about youngsters is why boomers missed out on any say to their politicians who passed laws such as this way back in 1998:

The Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 is a United States Congressional statement of policy calling for regime change in Iraq.[1][2] It was signed into law by President Bill Clinton, and states that it is the policy of the United States to support democratic movements within Iraq. The Act was cited in October 2002 to argue for the authorization of military force against the Iraqi government.

Plenty of boomers unware that US government is going to spend TRILLIONS more in their next target: Iran

The Iran Freedom Support Act (Pub.L. 109-293, 120 Stat. 1344, H.R. 6198, enacted September 30, 2006) is an Act of Congress that appropriated $10 million and directed the President of the United States to spend that money in support of groups opposed to the Iranian government. Opponents claimed the bill was a first step towards a US-led invasion of the country.

It's amazing to see these parents totally whiffing on instilling anything valuable in them. The parents are too busy updating their facebook pages with some stupid photo to give a shit what the kid is actually doing. We are so fucked it's not even funny. Although if you can teach your kid well in the midst of this you probably have a future 1 percenter on your hands. They will run circles around their age group. I don't know why so many junked you I would bet they didn't give it much thought because our government has been Looting Social Security for years ($2.7 Trillion so far) so you are correct the people who are about to retire are paying for the young. Social Security holds more of our debt then China and for the first time in history they will get back less then they were FORCED to pay in.

You are also correct about them being bollixed up with lies since obama's reduction in the payroll tax ($166 Billion)) hurt Social Security even more.

Social Security is a wedge issue IMO some of you WHINE about the Senior's wanting the money back they were forced to pay in yet you WHINE about a corrupt government and corrupt bankers at the same time advocating theft from Seniors.  By LAW our government is obligated to pay it back. Many of you act like it's the Senior's stealing from you. Social Security is an entirely self funded program paid for by Employers/Employee's not the government. Social Security cannot deficit spend by LAW.  When/if it doesn't have enough funds it will have to cut benefits.

The TRUTH About Who Really Owns All Of America's Debt

Social Security Trust Fund

Percent of US Debt that they own: 19%

Percent of US Debt that they own: 8%

in full

Those of you who think it's anything less then theft not to return the funds are no better then those you WHINE about i.e, the corrupt govt. or the bankers.  It is a DEBT just like any other debt and every debt is someone's elses assets in this case the Seniors. The people who set it up and the politicians who Looted it they are the problem yet they have successfully misdirected the anger.

"Here's how it works: For nearly three decades Social Security produced big surpluses, collecting more in taxes than it paid in benefits. The government, however, spent that money on other programs, reducing the amount it had to borrow from the public, including foreign investors. That's why some advocates complain that Congress has "raided" Social Security.

In return, the Treasury Department issued special bonds to Social Security. The bonds are now valued at $2.7 trillion. They are accounted for in two Social Security trust funds, one for the retirement program and one for the disability program.

The bonds pay interest like other Treasury notes and are backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government."

Honestly I believe Social Security was unconstitutional to begin with & I am not saying Social Security is unlike a Ponzi Scheme but that isn't the fault of the people who paid into it, that's the fault of the Politicians who set it up and lack of leadership to fix it or dismantle it.

The Department of Homeland Security, who uses only green card statistics, says that there were 1.3 million immigrants in 2006, however if you include all other forms of immigration, the average would be about 1.8 million each year.

And you ask why young people have such a hard time finding work.  Ask the government.  But Obama is busy creating new jobs for some fruckers from India and Mexico.  I suppose this is Generation Y's fault right?  When I was in my twenty's with a college degree I couldn't find work. I had to end up working with a bunch of illegal aliens.  It wasn't a hard job but they drove the price down bigtime.  I'm sure some of those kids would love to have that job now but they can't.  The government is letting the 1.5 million people in the country a year on work permits. Do these people create jobs?  Not as many as you would think.  So there you have it.  Now not only do you have to create 1.5 million more jobs for these people but 1.5 million jobs for new job entrants who should be entitled to those jobs. This system is crazy.

Washington: At least 30,000 Indians would be among the 1.76 million undocumented illegal immigrants who would benefit from US President Barack Obama's new policy to defer deportation of illegal immigrants for two years, a new study said.

Too late. You aren't going to get back what you put in. Depending on what the following article means by "workers who have paid" (do they include the employer contribution in this figure) you may not see a single penny of the employer contribution.

Social Security not deal it once was for workers

WASHINGTON — People retiring today are part of the first generation of workers who have paid more in Social Security taxes during their careers than they will receive in benefits after they retire. It's a historic shift that will only get worse for future retirees, according to an analysis by The Associated Press.

A married couple retiring last year after both spouses earned average lifetime wages paid about $598,000 in Social Security taxes during their careers. They can expect to collect about $556,000 in benefits, if the man lives to 82 and the woman lives to 85, according to a 2011 study by the Urban Institute, a Washington think tank.

One of my buddies I caught up with over the weekend works for one of the biggest accounting firms. He said that these firms now have job fairs for the parents of these kids. The fkin kids don't even show up. The parents show up with resumes for the kids and pitch their kids. These firms cater to this. Blew my mind...

The awesome part about it is they (the big banks/brokerage houses) hire these kids now as 1099, Independant contractors. No benefits, hourly pay to start.  It's interesting watching these big financial firms eat their young. They have no problem with it. The kids are too stupid to understand they are on the menu.

There is a new type of ZH crew on here lately.

Yes, I know the type. I deal with them on FB all the time. It's either "you can't own property", or, "logic is not truth, there is no truth, and there is no logic". All kinds of fucked up shit like that. Emotional little creatures that can't form a logically reasoned argument to get out of a wet paper bag. I just hope I'm dead before these assholes run the world. Or maybe, they just might learn a few things between now and then.

Reagon was just a puppet.

The entire world was going along with his policies including UK's Thatcher.

That's because central banks, Trilateral Comission and Bilderburg decided that people had "TOO MUCH DEMOCRACY" in the world and central planners were losing control. They worried that people no longer fit in left-right boxes

"The Trilateral Commission stated that "The effective operation of a democratic political system usually requires some measure of apathy and noninvolvement on the part of some individuals and groups." "...secrecy and deception...are...inescapable attributes of...government." as it tried to "solve" the "crisis" caused by an "excess of democracy" in the 1960s."

The Commission actually states that "democracy is only one way of constituting authority....[and] in many situation the claims of expertise, seniority, experience, and special talents may override the claims of democracy as a way of constituting authority." The Commission concludes that the only way for democracy to work is to encourage apathy and withdrawal from politics by Americans. Only by limiting democratic participation and relying on politicians and experts, the Commission concludes, will democracy work. They even admit that "this marginality on the part of some groups is inherently undemocratic, but it has also been one of the factors which has enabled democracy to function effectively." This is precisely the kind of arrogance that has led the government to create a wall between itself and the American people. If government leaders don't trust the people to shape and control their government and society, we are not a democracy!
