Obama Comes Clean

Tyler Durden's picture

In a strange coincidence, President Obama, as reported by Bloomberg, just followed Mario Monti's new normal and 'came clean' about the real state of the economy, following his earlier snafu:

The President went on to say that he knows the economy "needs to be strengthened" while clinging to his basic belief that there has been some momentum. Is 'truth' the new 'lie'? Or did hope and change just change on less hope?

McCoy: [talking about Norman] There's something wrong about a man who never smiles, and whose conversation never varies from the routine of the job, and who won't talk about his background.
Spock: I see.
McCoy: Spock... I mean, that it's, uh... it's odd for a non-Vulcan. Um... the ears make all the difference.

Captain Kirk: Everything Harry tells you is a lie. Remember that. Everything Harry tells you is a lie.
Harcourt Fenton Mudd: Now listen to this carefully, Norman. I am... lying.
Norman: You say you are lying, but if everything you say is a lie, then you are telling the truth, but you cannot tell the truth because everything you say is a lie, but you lie... You tell the truth but you cannot for you lie... illogical! Illogical! Please explain! You are human. Only humans can explain their behavior! Please explain!
Captain Kirk: [giving him the same statement the androids have repeatedly given him several times before] I am not programmed to respond in that area.

When I said everything is really OK, I meant that everything as I know it and believe me, I know everything, is fine and dandy.  The seats on OurForceWon are still leather, no graffiti on the walls or carpet, the white folks who wait on me hand and foot are still pleasant, nobody's threatened anyone else, there's still plenty of food and booze, people beg for my attention for highly important matters of state, we have plenty of time for MSNBC, Sports Desk and reruns of drone strikes, the kids play with that fucking big ass purebred dog that Kennedy rescued form the pound for me which sheds the shit all over, all my closest personal friends from Hollywood come to entertain me, the captains of industry fawn to be around me for the few moments of their fame because of me, the car service is punctual, the gardens well tended, I can and do say anything I damned well please and nobody but that fuck Limbaugh messes with me and he'll get his with a royal drone strike and my people still love me.
And I still am still the fucking chief of the most powerful nation on earth.
Everything's fine.

Exactly, as far as POTUS is concerned, his number of vacations has gone up significantly over the past 4 years, same for golfing, dinners and family relaxation time. Best of all he hasn't had to pay for his family's fun time. Life is good, what are you rubes complaining about?

Surly Bear's picture

Oh, yeah, like I need a fucking news story to know we're not doing fine. What a boob.

But the teleprompter said just the other day that everything was fine, why does the teleprompter now say the economy is bad? Something must be wrong with the teleprompter obviously.

Another excerpt from my book, "Lies of the Right":

Chapter 8 - Purism
I believe it was Mark Potock of the Southern Poverty Law Center who coined the term right wing purism.

Purism stems from the arrogant assumption that universal propositions have to be either true or false. That absolutist statements like "taxation is theft" have a Boolean truth value. This is NOT necessarily the case. Propositions can actually be half-way true or a quarter false. Liberals understand this very well, which is why we prefer to talk about the effects of actions rather than the dogmatic principles that classify then as moral or immoral according to libertarian dogma.

Hmm...colorful, but i don't follow why would you equate libertarians with the "right wing"?

MillionDollarBonus_'s picture

Well, because libertarians openly embrace the "free market" and "capitalism" which are understood by most people to be heartless and criminal. Only a right wing extremist would bring embrace concepts like these that hurt people's feelings.

In Family Feud, when someone gives an answer that is 3-sigma to the downside, there is a pregnant pause before the balance of the distraught family clamors "good answer!"  In that spirit and in honor of the late Richard Dawson, I bid you "good answer!"

mathdock's picture

Of course, your statement has only a degree of truth to it.  Not the first part--it is utterly true, probably.  To some, it is heartless to deny the free exchange of products and criminal to limit one's potential by fiat because THAT would be heartless.  And then the final part is utterly false, probably, for left-wing extremeists believe themselves to be good persons by working to homogenize outcomes rather than opportunties......

GeezerGeek's picture

Does that mean that hurting people's bodies - as opposed to feelings - is the domain of left wing extremists? Come to think of it, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Hitler - all socialists, all murderers of millions.

MeelionDollerBogus's picture

Actually Hitler is an anti-socialist Eugenicist (can't ever be both at the same time, eugenics and socialist) and Mao is a central-control communist (which is not socialist).

Pol Pot is a puppet warlord propped up by the USA to hit Cambodia for no good reason at all but "prevention" of "Communism"

Stalin is a right-wing Fascist, no left-wing to speak of there. Not a drop of it.

Hurting my feelings with your sarcasm.

Dane17's picture

Criminal- only in a liberal fantasy world.

Heartless- I hope so. Who but a full retard would want emotion or feeling to play heavily into a free market?

GeezerGeek's picture

But...I don't understand why anyone associates elitist socialism in any of its forms - communism, progressivism, fascism, national socialism, liberalism, corporatism, etc. - with the "right wing". Clearly libertarians are not "left wing", and if you do not understand why one would equate them with the "right wing", just where on the (stupid) left-right scale would you put them? Off in left field?

Treeplanter's picture

Famous libertarian Adolf Hitler was a menber of the Bavarian Soviet in 1918.  But Stalin said he was right wing and that's that.
