Obama Reacts To Ugly Jobs Report - Live Webcast

Shots for "fairness", "duty", "fault" and any other crowdsourced suggestions. No shots for "Solyndra", "Choom gang", "Eric Holder" or "record part-time jobs." If recent history is any indication, look for the S&P to slide.

But it IS important to note that Obama’s likely rival for the now inconsequential presidency (small case intended) was sent to the corner six times when he was in kindergarten.

The latest and greatest in our astute 'elected leaders' repertoire (the "friends and family sticking it up the ass of the taxpayer" plan):

White House pushes biofuels on Navy over lawmaker objections thehill.com/.../235955-white-house-pushes-for-military-use-of-biofu...

3 days ago – ...

The Obama administration is putting another $62 million into its bet that biofuels can power the Navy, rankling many lawmakers who say the programs are wasteful.

In May, Senate Armed Services Committee members derided the $26-per-gallon biofuel and petroleum cocktail fueling the Navy’s “Great Green Fleet,” an aircraft carrier strike group testing green-energy fuels, during a markup of the 2013 Defense Authorization Bill.

My cognitive dissonance has stopped working today!

"an aircraft carrier strike group testing green-energy fuels"

The rabbit hole just keeps going deeper.  Will the families of those slain take solace in that they were killed in "an environmentally friendly way?"

I cannot wait till this whole damn charade collapses.

We have now become a blight on humanity.

Truth.. I saw that.. IMO they all know there was/is no way to run the Navy on Wesson (except in the berthing, now) and I don't think they used all that much besides a blend (like the agri-business payoff of mandated 10% ethanol in the midwest) in a few ships..

It was just another scam to funnel tens of millions to Obama's buddies under the guise of research.

The US is suffering the ugly side of globalization.

When globalization first started it looked so good - huge export markets for US products, lots of opportunities for American companies to produce their products abroad, and the world economy hummed along.

Now the downward spiral has begun as everyone (including China, where vendors are laying off people) is forced to compete and see who can work, and live, the cheapest (unless you win the DNA lottery, or are a CEO of a huge multinational corporation).

There is no escape from the law of diminution at the margin, except being born rich.

Unforunately Western governments have not caught on that they must play, too. They keep spending and increasing their payrolls, when they also need to see which government can operate the most efficiently.

For example: in Boston, the MBTA just raised fares 15-25% (it has to meet budget every fiscal per the Legislature).  So what do they do? They expand the Transit Police force by hiring 3 new Lt./Sgt. supervisors at 6 digit salaries.  This while the train track infastructure needs major work, and buses are getting eliminated as a result (and more to come probably next year, along with another fare hike).  So my ride is cheaper and break down more, but there are more cops on the trains.  Thanks, MBTA!

Developed countries have transferred most of their wealth to the Third World, particularly the Middle East (oil) and China (cheap production). What other result could have occured in the US except a grinding down of American workers, investment and production?

Take a look beyond the US borders. As an example, Costa Rica (huge in the tech and online gambling gaming sector) is chugging along with 7 percent growth, as is much of Latin America (minus Argentina).

If I was a bettor, would I bet on America?

Hell no.

You probably have a much better chance of success taking the Jacksonville Jaguars' money line in New England on a Sunday afternoon.

The problem was not with 'globalisation' of labour ... the problem was with not replacing those boring and dangerous jobs with more productive and satisfying jobs suited to the education standards being promoted and [allegedly] achieved at home.

For example, I was involved early on as an advisor in the automation of some large multinationals. Upon being presented with a plan for a new computer system, the typical senior exec would say: "Great! How much is the headcount reduction?". And I'd say: "No. We're not going to reduce headcount ... we're going to apply those heads more productively in product/service development and customer service". They'd always agree, and get excited with the possibilities for further expansion, after the benefits had been explained.

Then they fell asleep at the wheel as the new era of quarterly bonuses based on immediate savings (ie. headcount reduction) came together with the engineered bubbles in LBOs, dotcoms, and then property speculation.

Product development and improved service delivery were just "too hard" when a quick buck could be made from Greespan's very deliberate largesse. Only the Germans stayed on the path.....

the government and the CEO's have always hated the middle class and the upwardly mobile. When people get a little money they become independent. Can't have that, need that dependency, just like the slaves. They used to tell the slaves they were better off than they were in africa, just like you hear now, at least you have a job

If unemployment was still calculated the way it was from 1979-1981 it would be running at 16%. It will only get worse with Obamacare upheld as constitutional by a majority of Progressive Justices that have eviscerated it. It's now a dead document and all the Supreme Court Justices should be fired as no matter what laws are passed they will uphold them. I too suffered from that crisis and I can tell you right now that this one is worse. At least in that one we had a chance to recover. Today there is no chance to recover, it just gets worse from here. The only chance we have is a complete economic collapse which causes this government to end.

Whoever his campaign guy is, needs to get fired.  Srsly.

Whenever you net 16K jobs, which is 10% less of what you need to keep pace with growing GDP......that is "not a step in the right direction."

Outsourcing is not the same as off-shoring.   I think even he knows that, but he knows the dimwits he talks down to aren't sharp enough to make the distinction as they hunger for some reason, any reason to get excited to vote for Obama and hate Romney.

If he tried to pull that stunt in the debates, Romney would have an opening to point out what a cheap little hustler he is, so, likely, he'll have to deal with real issues, without the demonizing....and the real issues he ain't so good with.

Obama is going to lose big.  Independents that put him last time pretty much hate him now.

More Koch-brothers funded half-truths.

Oil has gone from $3/barrel in the 1970s, to $100/barrel today.  Most of the world recognizes it's time to start seriously working on other forms of energy.  Germany and China (and others) have heavily-subsidized their photovoltaic industry.  The Koch brothers are very concerned that Obama, in a $785 billion stimulus package, spent about $10 billion subsidizing the green energy industry here.  Much of that investment was sucessful, but some was not - this is a competitive industry with, as we've said, substantial govt subsidy by our global competition.

Despite the frantic allegations and investigation - there has been no 'smoking gun'.  (http://factcheck.org/2012/06/romneys-solar-flareout/). Did people in the green energy industry support Democratic candidates?  Of course they did, just the way the financial services industry sends 5X as much money to Romney PACs as it does to Obama. Or more to the point, compare with the $1 trillion-plus Cheney spent, grabbing Iraq's oil for his industry friends - LOL!  Plus 5000 American lives, and approximately 1 million "collateral damage" civilians.

Frankly, the rapid price drop in photovoltaics was worth every penny, IMO.  PV is now competitive with grid electricity in Europe (at their 16 cents/KW hour), and on the US East Coast.  It is not competitive with the lower rates (down to 8 cents/KW hour) found in other parts of America - but PV panel prices continue to drop fast, so we're getting there.  Cheap, 100%-renewable, local power; what's not to like?  Unless your the Koch brothers...or a brainwashed TeaBagger.  You have to search for the actual facts, and learn to think for yourself.

This man was nominated by the two-party system. His opponent in the General Election was nominated by the two-party system. This man, then, was the choice between the two. Millions of Americans did not want to choose: invade more sovereign countries or massively increase the welfare system under socialism. As in the past, they chose one anyway and, like in the past, they got both evils. And like George Bush, he is surrounded by the once glorious symbol of a proud nation.  If this scene is uncomfortable to Americans, they should not blame who is standing there; they should blame the incredibly corrupted political system, the incredibly corrupted Congress of the United States which allows it, and the tyrants who manipulate them both.
