Is Obama's Peace Prize About To Be Confiscated? Nobel Peace Prize Jury Under Investigation

Tyler Durden's picture

The announcement of Obama's recognition by the Nobel Peace Prize committee in 2009 seemed, to many, more like an 'Onion-worthy' headline than reality but now, as The Associated Press reports, it seems the officials face a formal inquiry over the selection criteria that could rescind the last three years' awards. The accusations at the root of the inquiry stem from persistent complaints by a Norwegian peace researcher that cites the original purpose of the prize was to diminish the role of military power in international relations, and if the Stockholm County Administrative Board, the overseer of such foundations, finds that the founder Alfred Noble's will is not being honored then (while unlikely) Obama (2009), Liu Xiaobo (2010), and last year's Liberians could face their awards suspended as 'champions of peace'. Fredrik Heffermehl, the inquiry's instigator, rhetorically asks when addressing the 2009 committee choice of Obama for "extraordinary efforts" to boost international diplomacy: "Do you see Obama as a promoter of abolishing the military as a tool of international affairs?" as he notes the 1895 will of Nobel to "work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."

AP: Nobel Peace Prize Under Investigation

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) — Nobel Peace Prize officials were facing a formal inquiry over accusations they have drifted away from the prize's original selection criteria by choosing such winners as President Barack Obama, as the nomination deadline for the 2012 awards closed Wednesday. The investigation comes after persistent complaints by a Norwegian peace researcher that the original purpose of the prize was to diminish the role of military power in international relations.

If the Stockholm County Administrative Board, which supervises foundations in Sweden's capital, finds that prize founder Alfred Nobel's will is not being honored, it has the authority to suspend award decisions going back three years — though that would be unlikely and unprecedented, said Mikael Wiman, a legal expert working for the county.

Obama won in 2009, Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo won in 2010, and last year the award was split between Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Liberian activist Leymah Gbowee and Tawakkul Karman of Yemen.

...
Fredrik Heffermehl, a prominent researcher and critic of the selection process, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that "Nobel called it a prize for the champions of peace.""And it's indisputable that he had in mind the peace movement, i.e. the active development of international law and institutions, a new global order where nations safely can drop national armaments," he said

Especially after World War II, the prize committee, which is appointed by the Norwegian Parliament, has widened the scope of the prize to include environmental, humanitarian and other efforts, he said. For example, in 2007 the prize went to climate activist Al Gore and the U.N.'s panel on climate change, and in 2009 the committee cited Obama for "extraordinary efforts" to boost international diplomacy.

"Do you see Obama as a promoter of abolishing the military as a tool of international affairs?" Heffermehl asked rhetorically.

Nobel, a Swedish industrialist and inventor, gave only vague guidelines for the peace prize in his 1895 will, saying it should honor "work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."

Nobel said the peace prize should be awarded by a Norwegian committee, and the other Nobel Prizes by committees in Sweden. The two Scandinavian nations were in a union at the time. Geir Lundestad, the nonvoting secretary of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, dismissed Heffermehl's claims.

"Fighting climate change is definitely closely related to fraternity between nations. It even concerns the survival of some states," he told AP. Still, the County Administrative Board decided to sent a letter to the Stockholm-based Nobel Foundation, which manages the prize assets, requesting a formal response to the allegations.

"We have no basis to suggest that they haven't managed it properly. But we want to investigate it," Wiman said. "The prize committee must always adjust its rules to today's society," he said. "But peace work has to be at the core — it can't deviate too much from that," Wiman said.

Failing a confiscation of that particular prize, the headhunter in chief can go for the repeat by fooling all of the Nobel committee member all of the time, in proving that the only solution to an excess debt problem is infinite debt.

That would be the genuine surprise.

Not that this your typical US citizen negro president behaves as one expects a US citizen to behave.

According to Nobel's will, the Peace prize was to those who 'reduce standing armies'. High explosives reduce standing armies to formerly standing armies quite effectively. There are considerable numbers of formerly standing civilians too, but sacrifices must be made. Mission accomplished. That prize was awarded exactly according to the provisons of 'Boom Boom" Nobel's will.

Made me laugh.

You know, I also admit there was no ethnical cleansing going on under Qaddafi in Libya; contrary to the present situation with a US citizen government running the show.

Not surprisingly, this does not make me a Libyan in the eyes of US citizens.

Facts are facts.

US citizens did not abolish slavery when they entered countries.
China did when they entered Tibet.

Facts. Mere observation. It condones nothing. It simply draws the line between the Chinese in Tibet and US citizens elsewhere.

Isnt it funny that the proponents of freedom aka US citizens had it that hard to end slavery while authoritarians like the Chinese had it easy?

To complete that, I'd not be surprised if we see a new rising of slavery in some parts US citizens have entered lately. Like Libya.

wait, wait I thought the Nobel peace prize was awarded to whoever drops the most bombs in the name of peace, liberty, human rights and such.

don't they get it? you can't have peace unless you blow shit up and kill people, that's how peace is won and subsequently enforced, much like democracy.

so what's the problem here? Obama is spreading peace, freedom and liberty across the globe, bombing and assassinating the shit out of anybody who even thinks otherwise. look at what he did to that guy who posted all those anti- democracy videos on you tube, had a P-drone barbecue him right in the middle of a family cookout (oh the irony). and that guy was even a US citizen, but Obama didn't care, this guy was against freedom and peace so he had to be taken out with extreme prejudice, none of that trial by jury, innocent until proven guilty, due process bullshit for him and now, any of the other enemies of freedom, liberty and human rights. now they can just scoop you up and throw you in a hole forever or kill you if that's more convenient and politically opportune.

you see? bombing and killing, so long as it's done in the interest, in the name of freedom = freedom, safety, security and liberty.

so I think Obama should have won about a dozen of those prizes by now, and they should backdate a few for Bush as well.

cause with this many bombs dropping and bullets flying, humanity has never been more free, or at peace.

312,962,000 x .63 = 197,166,060 in the work force

312,962,000 - 197,166,060 = 115, 795, 940 Not in the work force

But we have 66,660,771 retires and on SSI

So let's subtract those from "not in the work force" 115, 795, 940 minus 66,660,771 = OH MY GOSH 49,135,169

What's so important about this number? It's almost equal to the exact number of food stamp recipients we have (47,178,000). You have to be dirt poor to qualify for food stamps, basically having a job that doesn't pay enough for you to afford food, or not have a job at all

So we have 15-16% REAL UNEMPLOYMENT or stuck in such a SHIT JOB that you can't afford food for yourself.

50% UE rate for "African American" men between the age of 16 and 24!!!!

I got my numbers from here:

http://www.usdebtclock.org/

http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm

But why are 49 million UE but only 47 million on food stamps? Take into account the 2 million in prison and voila. I know in a society known as socialism the prisoners should be collecting food stamps too, but don't tell your Senator, they met get ideas.

8.3% UE my ass.

Sweden is very un-liberal on drugs: Passing a joint is trafficing, carrying a mandatory jail sentence.

The Swedish anti-drug policy is centered on coming down hard on users - which means that only the users who are caught by the police or seek tretment are reported. Therefore Sweden has the lowest amount of official drug users in Scandinavia combined with the highest death rates caused by drugs and drug related crime. Probably the dead O.D. case are not countes as "users".

Like any fundamentalists tripping over the world as it is, the Swedes just applies more of whatever policies, that cannot not work, to the "problem".

Dayton, Ohio,

August 7, 1865

To My Old Master, Colonel P.H. Anderson, Big Spring, Tennessee

Sir: I got your letter, and was glad to find that you had not forgotten Jourdon, and that you wanted me to come back and live with you again, promising to do better for me than anybody else can. I have often felt uneasy about you. I thought the Yankees would have hung you long before this, for harboring Rebs they found at your house. I suppose they never heard about your going to Colonel Martin's to kill the Union soldier that was left by his company in their stable. Although you shot at me twice before I left you, I did not want to hear of your being hurt, and am glad you are still living. It would do me good to go back to the dear old home again, and see Miss Mary and Miss Martha and Allen, Esther, Green, and Lee. Give my love to them all, and tell them I hope we will meet in the better world, if not in this. I would have gone back to see you all when I was working in the Nashville Hospital, but one of the neighbors told me that Henry intended to shoot me if he ever got a chance.

I want to know particularly what the good chance is you propose to give me. I am doing tolerably well here. I get twenty-five dollars a month, with victuals and clothing; have a comfortable home for Mandy,—the folks call her Mrs. Anderson,—and the children—Milly, Jane, and Grundy—go to school and are learning well. The teacher says Grundy has a head for a preacher. They go to Sunday school, and Mandy and me attend church regularly. We are kindly treated. Sometimes we overhear others saying, "Them colored people were slaves" down in Tennessee. The children feel hurt when they hear such remarks; but I tell them it was no disgrace in Tennessee to belong to Colonel Anderson. Many darkeys would have been proud, as I used to be, to call you master. Now if you will write and say what wages you will give me, I will be better able to decide whether it would be to my advantage to move back again.

As to my freedom, which you say I can have, there is nothing to be gained on that score, as I got my free papers in 1864 from the Provost-Marshal-General of the Department of Nashville. Mandy says she would be afraid to go back without some proof that you were disposed to treat us justly and kindly; and we have concluded to test your sincerity by asking you to send us our wages for the time we served you. This will make us forget and forgive old scores, and rely on your justice and friendship in the future. I served you faithfully for thirty-two years, and Mandy twenty years. At twenty-five dollars a month for me, and two dollars a week for Mandy, our earnings would amount to eleven thousand six hundred and eighty dollars. Add to this the interest for the time our wages have been kept back, and deduct what you paid for our clothing, and three doctor's visits to me, and pulling a tooth for Mandy, and the balance will show what we are in justice entitled to. Please send the money by Adams's Express, in care of V. Winters, Esq., Dayton, Ohio. If you fail to pay us for faithful labors in the past, we can have little faith in your promises in the future. We trust the good Maker has opened your eyes to the wrongs which you and your fathers have done to me and my fathers, in making us toil for you for generations without recompense. Here I draw my wages every Saturday night; but in Tennessee there was never any pay-day for the negroes any more than for the horses and cows. Surely there will be a day of reckoning for those who defraud the laborer of his hire.

In answering this letter, please state if there would be any safety for my Milly and Jane, who are now grown up, and both good-looking girls. You know how it was with poor Matilda and Catherine. I would rather stay here and starve—and die, if it come to that—than have my girls brought to shame by the violence and wickedness of their young masters. You will also please state if there has been any schools opened for the colored children in your neighborhood. The great desire of my life now is to give my children an education, and have them form virtuous habits.

Say howdy to George Carter, and thank him for taking the pistol from you when you were shooting at me.

From your old servant,

Jourdon Anderson.

Seek Justice At Your Own Risk

excerpt:

Gallop, a former U.S. Army executive administrative assistant and her then two-month-old son were injured in the Pentagon event on 9/11 when an explosion in her office brought the ceiling down on them. Gallop’s desk was in the Pentagon’s E Ring, the outermost of the building’s five rings. Her desk was reported to be just 40 feet from where Flight 77 is supposed to have hit the building shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 11.

Gallop reports she carried her child to safety through the hole in the building where the plane was supposed to have entered. She says she saw no evidence of a plane having hit: no wreckage, no bodies, no jet fuel, nothing. She says she thought her computer had triggered the explosion, reporting that there were “flames coming out of the computers.”

Gallop’s original suit pointed to the fact that no alarm was ever sounded at the Pentagon even though it appeared that Cheney and others were tracking a plane’s progress towards the Pentagon. She has stated that there were frequent alarm drills in the Pentagon in the days leading up to 9/11 but none on that day.

The case laid out by Veale addressed the 9/11 official story and why the evidence points to it being false. It dealt with events at the Pentagon, the World Trade Center, and in Shanksville, Penn. The complaint pointed to a number of areas where the defendants clearly lied about where they were on the morning of 9/11 and what they were doing. It also looked at the evidence that neither Flight 77 nor any other 757 hit the Pentagon:

One of those possibilities is that there was a plane substituted for Flight 77, possibly while flying over West Virginia, that was fitted and painted to look like Flight 77, which plane actually flew over the building while some other plane or missile exploded into the building on a slightly different flight path.  There is the further possibility that no flying object hit the building at all, that the damage there was done by pre-placed explosives.   Parts of an aircraft found in the rubble could have been planted in the building before the attacks so they could be found afterward.  It will take an honest investigation and subpoena power to learn the truth.

I guess lawyers and their clients will think twice before using the courts to go after very powerful people who think they’re above the law – that’s because it appears they ARE above the law.
