I believe what they are saying is...they want the tax break on FICA to be extended for another year as is usually the case in tax & spending matters. They do it on a yearly basis. A fiscal year...back when they actually had a yearly budget.

The non-partisan bill the house passed WAS killed by the senate. I don't mind them taking some time to finalize the details and come to an agreement here so both parties can get what they want. THAT is what the Senate bill does, or would have done.

The House delivered the one year extension BHO asked for. The Senate produced something totally different (and fyi the Senate can not originate tax bills, so anything they do on their own is just political games). So how is the House at fault when it delivers the extension BHO wants??

As an employer I really get sick of moving the tax tables monthly so that the employees get their extra two pence.. The cost of voiding payroll checks, reissuing etc really add the salt.

Payroll Tax Extension? This is nothing more than "Unemployment Benefits Extension". Extending unemployment benefits is unpopular, so let's give it another name that the ignorant masses won't know. Reducing the amount that SS takes in via a tax cut is a sure way to deep six a broke ass program that is already short each month. Something tells me they need an emergency to move on confiscating 401 and other self directed accounts, extending the payroll tax cut will bury this dog. This will be another never ending story, until it ends in tears of course. Cash out and take the hit before it's too late.
