Official Statement From Spanish Regulator On 15 Day Financial Short Selling Ban, Which Also Includes OTC Derivatives

Tyler Durden's picture

Just as in the case of France, here is the official statement from the Comision Nactional de Marcado de Valores, disclosing the Spanish 15 day prohibition on shorting stock. The banks impacted are Banca Cívica, S.A., Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, S.A., Banco de Sabadell, S.A., Banco de Valencia, S.A., Banco Español de Crédito, S.A., Banco Pastor, S.A. Banco Popular Español, S.A., Banco Santander, S.A., Bankia, S.A., Bankinter, S.A., Caixabank, S.A., Caja de Ahorros del Mediterráneo, Grupo Catalana de Occidente S.A., Mapfre, S.A., Bolsas y Mercados Españoles, S.A., Renta 4 Servicios de Inversion, S.A. Unlike Frace, Spain has also explicitly banned not only short cash transactions, but also any position in OTC derivatives "which involves creating a net short position, or increasing an existing one." Next and last: the Italian statement, as frankly nobody cares about Waffles.

O.T

So the company I work for reported earnings after closing today. We barely hit consensus on our fourth quarter eps and projected lower then consensus eps for 2012. That's bullish right? No need to worry about my job right?

I can't help but to wonder: who and how would enforce the ban on synthetic shorts? Particularly since you can create them outside of Spain, i.e. outside of the Spanish SEC jurisdiction.

Tell them to sell their kidneys. Problem solved:

http://thescotsman.scotsman.com/news/Debthit-students-urged-to-sell.6811975.jp

Debt-hit students urged to sell their kidneys

Published Date: 03 August 2011 By Jenny Fyall

STUDENTS should be able to sell their kidneys for tens of thousands of pounds to pay off university debts, according to a Scots academic. Sue Rabbitt Roff believes making it legal to sell the body part would boost the number of organs available to save lives and help students struggling with money.

She argues that donors should be paid the average UK annual income of around £28,000.

It is currently illegal to sell organs and tissues in the UK under the Human Tissue Act (2004) and across the world apart from in Iran.

I'm speechless.  Good God......

We've arrived.

1984

We have crossed the Event Horizon.
The Nash Equilibrium has been broken.
(Stop for a moment and ponder, seriously, the enormity of that statement.......)
The Hegelian Dialect worked until it doesn't.
Sanity has become the scarcest resource.

Good Lord.
A Scots academic, an individual bestowed by a recognized institution of higher education as of a learned nature suggests such madness?

George Orwell was right.
The masses toil, looted by the oligarchy in the form of a mad mercantilist all powerful and manipulative cancer of egocentric power.

"Some are more equal than others."
               -Animal Farm, Orwell

Of course the academic suggests the sale of kidneys to relieve the student debt syndrome, for she is a direct beneficiary of the educational debt machine.  The student must incur debts to pay tuition to pay the teachers salary, freedom from which is found through selling ones body.

My God.

This is madness institutionalized, a pinnacle of propaganda.  Bernays would be elated.

May God help us all, for we are past saving ourselves.

Of course the Spanish have a brilliant record of getting things right.

Since 2004, with Zapatero and the green economy idea came to power with the national socialists, they have managed 22% unemployment and huge deficits, with 2 jobs lost for every green job.  Highest unemployment in the developed world. This is what Obama is intentionally trying to copy.

I must have missed where the socialists obtained a time machine and manufactured a giant housing bubble and crashed it to give themselves a path to power. Ingenious of them to privatize all those state-owned companies allowing the slashing of jobs too.
