Protesters Storm, Occupy Hart Senate Office Building

Tyler Durden's picture

Looks like #OccupyWallStreet is morphing into #OccupySenate first and #OccupyCongress soon. Next up: #OccupyWhiteHouse? From a reader: "Here is a live feed to Occupy DC which has stormed the Hart Senate Office Building in D.C. – there are several dozen protestors chanting, arrests being made, and a flag that was hung upside down (sign of distress)."

Robot, I used to be annoyed by you because I was like the others here and believed I was right about the standard ZH rhetoric.  Now, after a 2 year observation only period of the market (and some intense research on the best ways to extract some cash from the casino), I am now tending to agree with your obsession with the price action on these up days.

It is all that matters.  This collapse seems inevitable, but all knowledge is imperfect.  The collapse may be another 3 to 5 years out, with all sorts of trading opportunities available, assuming you can actually SEE what price action looks like.

The quesiton is, do you only post on up days as a perma bull, or do you bet whichever way based on how much money it might earn?  I'm only for people who understand the latter as truth.

For you haters of robot and anyone, just ask yourself if ZH is something you do for boredom, or if it is actually helping you make more money in the market, the main reason for its existence IMO.

You would do well to ignore Robo, if you wish to make money and not just post about others that do.

Some do and those that can't just post the actions of others.

Robo, well the first trade he posts before he posts the results will be the first.

There is not hate of robo , but pity mixed with a little shame.

Chanting "We are the 99 percent" and "Tax, tax, tax the rich," some demonstrators marched on Michigan Avenue and gathered outside the Chicago Art Institute where a U.S. futures industry trade group was holding an evening cocktail reception.

Here's the problem which they must address:

How much of "the 99%" are designed to be around when this all hits the fan, at the end of the day?

I now believe the only question is whether we are looking at a simple trimming of the fat (a 20% or so reduction in population) or an NWO Solution (more like 80-90%!)...

What happens when "the useful idiots" become not-so-useful?

Finally! Thank God! Maybe the politicians will listen.

List of demands.
1. Term limits
2. Restraints on lobbying
3. 18% cap on credit card interest
4. Reset all current mortgages to todays rate....automatic, no paperwork required.

5. And I forgot!!!! Reinstate the Glass-Steagall Act!!!!!

4. Reset all current mortgages to todays rate....automatic, no paperwork required.

Is that retroactive with a rebate for those of us that had the decency to honor the contract we signed and actually paid our mortgage in full?

No, because in return for a reduction in the payment of mortgage interest, we will lose a mortgage interest deduction and increase our taxable base. You, on the other hand, may actually see a market for your house before you die. The house next door to ours has been on the market for almost 1 year. If things keep going like this, your house may be such a maintenance issue and tax burden that your heirs would be better off owning a bulldozer.

I believe this is the next step in the end of American social order. I'm not certain we're at full-riot yet (I still think that is going to play out next year with the elections and a further increase in the race-riot-level stuff we've been seeing in the major cities in 2011.), but you are beginning to see a push-back. Sadly 80% of these kids do not even understand what they are protesting. They know they are angry but the majority of them think that a magic wand can be waived and take money back from those who have it. Most do not understand the political structure and it's ownership on both sides of the aisle and regulatory agencies are the cancer. They are looking merely at the outcome and the superficial results without trying to decipher where it went wrong.

It went wrong when we deviated from the constitution and a seperate rule of law could be purchased by those with money and influence. More importantly people will eventually wake up to the fact that this begins and ends with the Federal Reserve and collectivist elites who have been using their dollars to buy the media to form their opinions for them. There is simply too much non-partisan information out there now for the genie to ever be put back in the bottle and this is because of the Internet and sites such as ZH.

Eventually all pipers get paid. I think it is safe to assume this is a wrench for Bernanke if he wanted to launch a QE3.

Fire Dept. representatives have added "riot contingency" to their emergency building evac briefs as of this May.  I work on Park Ave.  Each floor gets a quarterly briefing on fire routes "in the event of a fire or terrorist attack" and now "in the event of a riot".  As of May 2011, the NYFD as been alerted to the impending threat of riots and action plans are in place - for what that's worth.

They are'nt going anywhere. Yes, they may be useful idiots, but these useful idiots will remain and do the ground work that will lead to insurrection on a larger scale which is what the underlying power wants. The outcome of violence is inevitable. The only question is to what extent?

violence is the only way this will be settled.  You may not like it, but it works.  Until there is violence, there won't be a damn thing changing except for your accrued wealth leaving your control and going to TPTB.

So there will either be violence that gets what they want and quells resistance, or violence that gets you what you want.  Which will you choose?

That presumes "the (actual) 99%" get a choice in that manner.

What I easily see happening is them signing over what little they have left so they can have their football, American Idol, Dancing With the Stars, etc. -- and those who won't sign over or who aren't "productive" enough won't be breathing anymore.

Emerging leadership will not promote violence no matter whether it is inevitable or not, because you exacerbate losses on both sides if you do and the casualty ratios are 10,000 to 1 in these kinds of historic circumstances. In the age of WMD and game theories, this ratio could be 500,000,000 to 1. And why the hell would you publically discuss your endorsement? So you can paint a target on your back? The element of surprise wins most battles even in the modern age.

End the non-Federal non-Reserve and all the other privately owned central banks around the world. JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley are big shareholders in the non-Federal non-Reserve but the general public will never be offered a share. Teach yourself about the Austrian school of economics and you will understand we have not had free market capitalism for centuries.

Entirely possible they have no clue which way to hang the flag. Scene at Occupy Atlanta says it all, mind controlled nimrods or Progressive critical thinkers either way repeating monkey like whatever is said and voting both ways on the "process point", blockers, stackers just pathetic "general assembly". Even John Lewis' guy seemed amused at how the crowd voted both ways on how "they feel", speaker(or whatever they call him) seemed a bit confused by the voting.

This will end badly, very badly.

The Occupy protests will be either smashed or counter-protested by parties who openly want the entire population to either start producing or leaving the playing field.

The conservative mantra will soon be: "He who does not work, does not eat."

If it ever gets to that point, they better start the shooting fast.

The Occupy (Blank) Primer.

They wont touch the Fed. The response would be swift, brutal and bloody.

As for the OWS people I have put in a good but of research on them. Some of the info
is based on their own webites, liberal blogs, patriot site intel reports and on the scene
news coverage/ interviews. They fall into some pretty specific and narrow categories.
The percentages of participation are based on sign-up sites and video/photo intel.

So far it looks like a Hodge-podge of factions, none of which have taken a decisive
leadership role yet. If one of the more radical elements manages to gain control
and begin "steering" the protests things could get ugly. Anyway my breakdown is below.

Anarchist/ Blag Flag faction- These are professional full time protestors.
Most are anti-globalist/ Marxists and hard core communists. You can pick them out by their black outfits and face masks. They are violent, but disciplined. They travel to G8 and G20 meetings and often fight with cops/destroy businesses. Their goal is the complete destruction of our capitalist economy and our republican form of government. They make up at most 8-10% of the mobs.

Neo-Socialist faction- The includes left leaning Democrats, unionists, SEIU, Acorn type groups. This large group is attemptingto co-op the demonstrations and use them to Obama's advantage. These are the ones that are inviting democratic Politicians to
speak etc. This faction also includes those on the public teat (students, welfare whores, community organizers etc). Most are anti-corporate but pro-big government. Many don't think of themselves as "Socialists" even though they fully support a socialist agenda.
They make up maybe 25-30% of the protestors. Some will fight, most will run.

"Fleabaggers" faction- This group falls under the title of "useful idiots" as Lenin would say. Many are unemployed, hippies, homeless, addicts, drunks, mentally ill, etc. Mixed in with them are many liberal coffee house/ artist types, street preachers and general hangers on.These folks are mostly there for the party and the chance to get laid. If they can get on TV for 5 minutes and rant so much the better. Many of these folks really don't have an agenda other than hating rich/employed folks, and wanting to see something burn down. This group comprises maybe 25% of the protestors. Many will fight, even with each other.

Libertarian/Minarchist Faction- Many of these well meaning folks are Ron Paul supporters, others are anti-New World Order types. Mixed in with a sprinkling of Anarcho-Syndicalists. Most of these people recognize the real problem is the corrupt symbiosis of International Bank Cartels/Federal Reserve/ Lobbyists/Mega-Corps/Globalist Politicians. Many understand that our economic system is bankrupt and only kept propped up by Bankers/Politicians for their own profit as they milk the last few trillion from American savings accounts. This faction tends to include small groups of right wing patriots and "live free or die folks" as well as younger groups of anti-globalists and even zero-gov new age types. This faction also includes a small "Black Flag contingent" They make up at most 20% of the mobs. They tend to be peaceful.

Neo-Communist Faction- One of the more dangerous groupings at the protests. This small faction includes The American Communist Party,Socialist Workers Party, The OWS leadership group itself and other hard core anti-capitalists. These are die hard students of Marx and Lenin. They mingle with the Neo-Socialists but are much more dedicated to the anti-capitalist/ anti-constitutional collectivists. They hope to avoid being
absorbed by the DNC message, and strongly oppose the corrupt two-party system. They are well organized and prone to violence if they feel it will advance their agenda. They are only 10% or less of the mob.

My final assessment: Threat level is moderate, many of the protestors will disperse if the demonstrations turn violent. Also may of the nouveau-riche celebrity types, latte liberals and students will disappear as winter approaches and conditions in the camps become more austere. The only chance of serious trouble/damage/casualties is if the Neo-Comms and Blag Flag groups decide to turn up the heat.

Pretty good. The co-opts are for sure the posers. The rest of them at the least think they are protesting for something and many really are, which is the worst you may be able to say about them.

I think they should protest the whole government personally and not just one of the political parties or "wall street", but that's not going to happen.

The government et al is the enabler and the real problem.

The Govt cannot tax with out the Partys approval.

The Govt cannot function with out FED aproval.

The FED cannot fucntion without the Banks.

I don't disagree preacher, my only point is we don't elect wall street or the bankers, we elect politicians who are suppossed to represent us. If the government would not allow it, it would not happen, and government is suppossed to be the backstop, not the enabler. Their job is to provide an environment for business, not a license to steal. I realize the connectedness (word?) of it all, but I still think the government is the problem more than the bankers, business, "wall street," hedge fund managers, etc.

Yes, at this point the IRS exists to detect and punish political adversaries. Not filing identifies you as a rebel to the system so the second function is repetition of answering to this supposed, 'voluntary' tax system. Excellent point that consumption should be taxed, not income which is sound economics, period. But then again, how could superpower cycles of Robber Baron's be able to abuse labor?
