Amazing week:

The US economy (largest national economy in the world) is a consumer-based economy.  Consumer sentiment has reportedly reached a 31-year low... and the stock markets rallied furiously toward the end of the week to close down about 1%.  Gee, I wonder what sort of news would be required to really move the markets lower.  Maybe if aliens attacked and wiped half the country off the map, the markets might react accordingly.  Then again, as long as the HFT bots had an emergency generator running, the markets might magically levitate...
