Retail Fooled Again As Goldman Cash Desk Sees Better Long-Only Selling All Day
Once again, the momo and retail "traders" gets ripped off by the whales who take advantage of vacuum tube inspired momentum and retail bag holders praying for a few days that will make their year. From Goldman EOD market commentary: "Up, up, and away for stocks today. Europe gets the party going, and the music keeps playing for the US. The flow on our cash desk actually skewed to better selling – decent long-only selling (consumer staples and information technology) vs. small hedge fund buying (info tech and energy). ETF desk was better to buy, but only moderately so. SPX 1260 (200d) still the level to watch above – held twice in June, sliced through in August, been a consistent top in October, November, and December. SPX closes up 36 at 1241 (+2.98%)." And incidetnally as was noted here minutes ago, "Strange to see EURUSD and SPX decouple so sharply, but year-end brings funny things." Translation: thank you dumb money stock investors - without you the Putnams of the world would have nobody to sell to.

It felt as algo assisted mark up and distribution day -- spike it up to scare the shorts, get retail excited (nothing excites more retail than green on the screen), and unload into retail buying euphoria.

The expectations for this last hope LTRO fantasy "backdoor bazooka" or imaginary LTRO "backdoor QE" are unrealistically high -- to let in even the slightest sliver of the light of reality would be overwhelmingly traumatic for the bulls and ignite a massive selloff.
correct again. and backdoor operations are token. this market may short or sell at oct highs. probably next yr. unless asia implodes in 5days
Well this was expected. But won't break Oct highs, that and the bear signals are also coming from Asia. Looking for some more consolidation/slight rallies into end year. The cue for this rally was that idiot (Draghi) from the ECB saying how he won't let the EUR crash (he said that before EZ open). What did that mean? Well that maniac will buy up Spanish debt on last sessions auction. ECB buys EU/PIIGS bonds and the EUR rallies. The ECB (bond buying) and the FED (swaps) are both printing...somewhat clandestine. Can they push equities into a bull market. Nope.
This could be an end yr meltup, which, if you short or swing trade indexes you want. Because 2012 will be volatility overkill.

The house always wins. It just amazes me that people think 'Stock market" and "investment" in the same thought. It is encouraging to see stories about people pulling their money out of funds. The stock market began as a nest of swindlers, hustlers and con artists, and so it is, today.
