Romney Officially Loses Iowa, Gingrich Leading South Carolina 37% to Romney's 28%

Tyler Durden's picture

Something big must be happening behind the scenes because the level of broad popular distraction just hit ludicrous speed. The latest news, from AP: "Offering no explanation, the Iowa Republican Party has declared Rick Santorum as winner of the Iowa caucuses, days after saying incomplete vote results precluded it from doing just that. GOP State Chairman Matt Strawn and the party’s State Central Committee issued a statement late Friday naming the former Pennsylvania senator as the winner, “in order to clarify conflicting reports and to affirm the results” that were released Wednesday." Naturally, jokes about Paul votes being "hanging chad-ed" by Diebold machines are imminent: "Because eight precincts never turned in certified results, Strawn said in the statement Thursday that the party could not declare a winner. He congratulated both Santorum and Romney. Sixteen days earlier, Strawn had announced that Romney had won the caucuses by eight votes." But far more notable, from the PPP website: "Newt Gingrich heads into South Carolina election day as the clear front runner in the state: he's now polling at 37% to 28% for Mitt Romney, 16% for Rick Santorum, and 14% for Ron Paul. Gingrich's lead has actually increased in the wake of his ex-wife's controversial interview with ABC. Although one night poll results should always be interpreted with caution, he led the final night of the field period by a 40-26 margin. One thing that continues to work to his advantage are the debates.  60% of primary voters report having watched the one last night, and Gingrich has a 46-23 lead with those folks. The other reason his ex-wife's interview isn't causing him much trouble is that there's a lot of skepticism about it. Only 31% of voters say they think her accusations are true while 35% think they are false and 34% are unsure. 51% of voters say that they have 'no concerns' about what came out in the interview." In other words: three primaries are about to lead to three different winners. What can we say: America always gets the president it deserves.

More from PPP:

The skepticism of Republican voters toward the media is helping Gingrich as well.  Just 14% of likely voters have a generally favorable opinion of the media, while 77% view it negatively.  Gingrich's attacks on the media have clearly played well with the party base.

Gingrich is leading with pretty much every key segment of the Republican electorate. He's up 41-21 on Romney and Santorum with Evangelicals, he has a 52-18 advantage on Romney with Tea Partiers, he leads Santorum 44-21 with 'very conservative' voters with Romney at 20%, and he's up 39-26 with men.

In the final week of the campaign Gingrich rose from 24% to 37% in PPP's polling while Romney basically stayed in place, going from 29% to 28%. Romney saw a 15 point decline in his net favorability in the closing stretch from +24 (57/33) to just +9 (51/42). Gingrich saw a modest increase in his numbers over the final week from +14 (51/37) to +17 (54/37).

Usually when we poll in the closing days before an election and find someone ahead by 9 points we'll say with a pretty high degree of confidence that person's going to win. I'm not comfortable saying that about South Carolina.  A primary election with a lot of new news in the closing days for voters to absorb is fertile ground for a final result that's at odd with the polls.  Mark Blumenthal's piece today for Huffington Post about 'expecting the unexpected' tomorrow is well worth a read.  Gingrich will probably win tomorrow- but there's a higher than normal chance for a surprise given everything that's gone down in the last 48 hours.

Full PPP results here.

There will never be a substantive change created from within the system. Too late, by a time span of generations.

Not 20 years too late, considering its the same message he's been sending for 30 years.

I think he has started something, and it might be too late to save this system.  But hopefully just in time to help rebuild a new one.  I hope something good can come out of the hell we are about to go thru.

Repeating someone elses propoganda does not make it true.

The Republican versus Democrat "system" is over a century old and getting very long in the tooth. Things can change very quickly if there is a serious financial crisis and the clueless (Obama, Romeny, Gingrich, Santorum) are asked how do we fix this.  The people are starting to realize that only one man (Ron Paul) knows what to do.

When the truth is finally realized, public opinion can and will change virtually overnight.

I sure hope so. I just look around and really can't see it. I live in the south so my area is hardcore republican. I listen to these fools who like everyone but Paul. It is a sad feeling how blind these people are. Again I hope they change overnight but as of now its very doubtful. I truly believe people want a master to tell them what to do.

Iowa Caucus Stolen for Romney

Updated January 21, 2012

Added material about the Israel lobby's targeting of Ron Paul and the mysterious "telecom" that evidently played a key role in the fraudulent tally of the Iowa caucus that gave Mitt Romney a false victory on January 3.

WHO DID IT?

After two weeks, the Republican Party of Iowa released its certified tally of the January 3 caucus.

The certified final tally released on January 18 indicates that Mitt Romney did not win the Iowa caucus and that the results had been manipulated to give Romney the important first victory.

The scale of the fraud in the Iowa caucus is so large that it suggests that there was a hidden hand manipulating the data from across the state as it was sent to party headquarters to give the victory to Romney.

This suggests that the people behind Romney are likely to be the people behind the vote fraud, i.e. Lester Crown, Israeli intelligence, and the Zionist Fifth Column in the United States.

Yeah, that zio-media propaganda...America loves it!

And another thing, why is it when these stories come out about reputed polls, they never show it or the results, or allow anyone but a selected audience to vote on it? They are always over by the time you hear about them and that, is plain ol corruption in the election system. Why bother having an election if it is tainted or fraudulent? Why bother if the system is rigged and vote fraud runs rampant in the entire network?

Ah who cares...back to starstruck on the hyptno drug TV or sumptin.

If you want to see some real polls, check these out where the real public opinion is, and not on these zio-media propaganda past-tense-polls.

So let me get this straight ….

Gingrich, the man that was on a couch with Pelosi chatting-up “global warming,” who has been to every elitist event from Bilderberg to Bohemia Grove, the man that not only accepts lobbyist’s money, but at times is a lobbyist himself, who was booted from his position in disgrace with 84 ethics violations, and paid $300,000 in restitution, and who has connections to every Wall St. insider that has ever robbed us, and is on first name basis with the ultimate thieves in the FED, the CFR and Tri-Lateral Commission, who Friday canceled an event for “lack of attendance,” and who couldn’t put a staff together in Iowa, or muster 10K signatures to get on the ballot in VA., who carries a $500,000 charge card at Tiffany’s for his latest wife da`jour, and who is passing himself off as the ultimate Washington “outsider,” whose platform only mirrors every failed policy to date from the “war on drugs” to the “war on terror” to the war on the American people with his support of the Patriot Act and the recent NDAA, who basically wrote NAFTA and crafted every other job-stealing bill we’ve had, who is in addition a draft-dodger that won’t think twice about sending your children off to die, and this is just touching the surface and not getting into a personal life that would make Hugh Hefner hide his head in shame, wins handily, two-days after one of his ex’s exposed him as a deviate swinger, over a field that has a man (Ron Paul) that has never been to one single elitist event, won’t even talk to a lobbyist, who is known as the “conscience of Congress,” who is totally funded by the people, who has only talked to elitist bankers during Congressional hearings, who has served his country honorably both in uniform and out, who every year gives a large portion of his salary back to the U. S. Treasury, has refused military and government pension funds, who is a doctor in two fields of study successfully, who is against wars of all kinds that are not authorized by Congress, and not only did not support the Patriot Act and the DNAA, but took time off from campaigning to go to Washington to introduce a provision to strike-down the indefinite detention of American’s without charge in that treasonous bill, whose personal life is a model of morality, this man who was endorsed by the former head of the CIA’s binLaden task-force, several of the more distinguished legislators from SC, and who receives more support from the active military than all the others combined, including Obama, who by ever demographic and social indicator, from number of comments on forums, Twitter, Facebook and who outsells the entire field in merchandizing, this man comes in last?

Will someone please tell me what’s wrong with this picture? Either my eyes are deceiving me or somebody is humbugging me.

The alternative will be uncontrolled collapse with millions dead from violence and troops overseas selling their defunct government's weapons of war for travel expenses to get home to family and friends.

Not really that bad. These were small precincts with only 254 votes total. The vote totals were phoned in on caucus night and nobody bothered to send in the paper ballots after the fact. 8 precincts out of 1774 total. If the phoned in totals from caucus night were used for the missing precincts then Santorum would have won by about 65 votes. hell, it was effectively a tie. Most americans don't understand that 2% or so of all ballots are spoiled in every election. Look at your fellow man/women on the street. If you have any doubt 1 in 50 could screw up filling an oval with a pencil you've not been paying attention.

The best voting system can be implemented at the precinct level in  a sort of caucus format.

All the locals from the precinct get into groups in a big room based on who they want to vote for and raise their hands. Everyone's present at the same time when the precinct official announces what candidate got how many votes.

Election observers and even the voters themselves could count to make sure the votes total is not fraudulent or erroneous. The voters are then handed a print out when they are leaving again showing the voting results that were announced. The precinct officals also puts these results on the precinct website.  That way the public could add up the totals of each precinct instead of just a centralized power such as “the party” or corporation counting votes in a back room

If only more people would watch the debates, if only the voters would use the time to watch who might be President rather than watch Jersey Shore. If only Republican would drop the anti-abortion and anti-gay malarkey, If only the Democrats would drop the anti-gun and ignoring the open to all criminals Mexican Border----------- what a better World it would be.

Do Americans have any idea how embarassing this is? What is happening to your country? Doesn't anybody give a damn any more?

Seriously, folks, Newt Fucking Gingrich? Could there be a more sleazy political hack? Last elected to public office 17 years ago. Censured by Congress for ethical violations. A liar and a cheat, and an arrogant and egotistical prick to boot. Nasty personality, the worst kind, a know-it-all who has all his facts wrong. Nut case, thinks the biggest threat to America is from electromagnetic attacks. Wants another WAR as soon as he can start one. Wants Sarah Fucking Palin and John Fucking Bolton in his cabinet. Fascists!

Or Mitt Fucking Romney? I mean could he be MORE 1% if he tried? Wall Street chop shop hit man, who then stashed all of his money in the Cayman Islands (yeah THAT's patriotic). Made his fortune by firing workers and sending jobs to China, then got HUGE tax breaks for doing it. Robo-Mitt, all Wall Street, all the time.

Or Rick Fucking Santorum? He'll start another WAR even faster than Gingrich. A mental midget and religious nut job.

All with the spectacle of more, bigger, and better ELECTION FRAUD. Banana republics have less fraud at election time.

Then there's Barack Fucking Obama. The ultimate fraud and bait & switch artist. Says all sorts of progressive stuff THEN turns into Bush's Third Term. Only worse! Endless war, no bank crime prosecutions, destruction of the Bill of Rights, Wall Street's stooge par excellence.

And one man, a patriot, a dedicated civil servant, smart enough to fight the bank cartel, smart enough to dismantle the excesses of empire, a true champion of freedom. And we can't even get the camera to pan over and show his face.

What have YOU done today to convert 10 people to Ron Paul? I can count 6 converts, four to go. Get moving!

I gave your post a thumbs up because it was passionate and idealistic. I, unlike many, still find virtue in idealism.

that said...

While I encourage idealism, I feel it must not prevent you from seeing certain realities. One important reality that many do not want to accept is this: Your vote does not matter one fucking iota.

It doesn't matter how many people vote for Ron Paul because, as Joseph Stalin so aptly pointed out, "those who cast the votes decide nothing, those who count the votes decide everything". And let's be honest here, given the voting record of the US ever since 2000, can anyone really deny that Stalin was correct?

Many Americans do not want to believe this to be fact because it would, for many, shatter their few remaining pillars of belief of what they were told this country is supposed to be. But it's time to face facts, ugly facts: America is NOT the country we were led to believe it was. We are no different than any other despotic empire throughout the history of mankind. The only thing that separates us from the others is that we have the most efficient and complete system of cradle to grave propaganda the world has ever seen.

It is what it is...and it ain't what we thought.

The Iowa Repugs were trying to rob RP of his delegates by declaring the race a tie.In the fist tally,RP and Rommney and Santorium all got 7 delegates. Then they said that they could not call the race due to missing votes tallies, which were CALLED in from 8 precints, becase the trucks carring the ballots literally disappeared from the face of the earth, never to be seen again. They obviously decided to not make the INTERNETS mad by robbing RP.                                                                                                                                                                                         Been trolling here for months for the great analysis on financial themes above my working man education, thanks to many for their opinions that I have read.Hope to return the favor by letting people know my opinion on political crap, which I love.Check out Travis and Jonathan of redststateupdate on youtube for the real political truth

I can confirm that as I was at the caucus and the delegates go to the dedicated. Only those who hung around and went to the trouble of becoming county delegates matter for final delegate selection. In our precinct less people waited around than there were available delegate slots. The media tries to estimate this based on vote totals but it's BS. On balance I think RP's folkes stand out pretty well in the dedication department. We should be well represented. Having done this before though, it's at the county level the party insiders try to band together and squeeze out outsiders they don't like.

Thanx to both of you for giving me more info on this subject! This only goes to show the intellect of ZHers.I do not mind being corrected by folks more informed than myself.I am new at this posting stuff, don't have the time,as I work and have a family and a life.Love ZH for info on PMs.I am not a computer freak.                                                   Infact, what I meant to say in the original post was that I have been LURKING here for a year, not TROLLING.LOL.     But,as I understand it,the delegates in Iowa were to be alloted proportionately. This would have given RP the same # of delegates as Romney and Sanrorum.I understand that the delegates have not been awarded yet,but I do not live near Iowa and I do not claim to be an expert on their election rules.                                                                   The story that I was trying to get out there is that Romney was originally declared the WINNER by 8 votes. When the votes were certified,Santorum had 36 more votes, but was not declared the winner. This was due to the vote tallies from 8 precincts not making it to where they were certifying them. The votes totals have NEVER been found. These precincts included the college areas, where RP should have done well. This led to the race being being listed as Santorum had more votes, but not declared the winner. The fact that he has now been declared the winner is the subject of this article. This led to speculation that the Iowa republican party was going to try to split ALL of the delegates between Romney and Santorum, thus cheating the other contestants out of their delegates.Hope this clarifies what I meant to say.I got no down arrows, and two up arrows, that shows the veiws of ZH folks IMOP.

Black Box Voting

"The genius of democracy is dispersed public control.

As we saw in Iowa when alert public citizens captured evidence of the actual vote count BEFORE it was reported by a centralized state committee, the state Republican Party and the news media initially claimed victory for the wrong winner. They only corrected this mis-call two weeks later, buying the favored candidate half a month of fund raising prowess and prestige.

In South Carolina, 100% of election results will be redirected through a private Barcelona, Spain-owned company, Scytl/SOE Software, before being reported to the public."

Romney, this time next month, will have clinched it. Then we will all get behind him to ensure the defeat of a President that even people as diminished as we have become do not deserve.

Romney will go on to handily beat Obama and we'll have a chance to keep the country from going third world.

The media and advertising machine had the muscle to get Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission through the Supreme Court; you think they don't have the clout to get a razor-thin margin in a meaningless state like Iowa tilted one way as opposed to another?

It's all about the churn.  If there's no turbulence and the outcome is too obvious, why should the money change hands?

It's nice to see so many here at ZH pretending that any of this matters. And I certainly hope you are all only pretending that this matters because if you haven't by now figured out that the American electoral system is a farce created for the entertainment of idiots...then you are, I'm sorry to say, one of the idiots.

Those who know least obey best.

What's notable about the 8 Iowa precincts that "lost" everysingle one of their votes is that 4 of them: FM 4A, FM4B, Franklin Cedar Marion, and Washington Green Bay Denmark, are all in Lee County.

When you go to the Lee County Republicans website the results shows Ron Paul winning the County with the top three vote getters as follows:

Ron Paul - 212

Rick Santorum -200

Mitt Romney - 169

http://www.leecountyrepublicans.org/

Amazingly, when the Iowa state GOP did the final tally  4 precincts from Lee county "lost" all their votes.

Evidently, after voting the votes were tabulated in each Precinct. I found it odd that nobody made it there business to interview those present in the 8 missing Precincts to find out who got the most votes. Those present know. It may have been Gingrich (my guess) it may have been Paul; in the big scheme if things it doesn't matter.

The elites in both parties have more of a stakeholdership with each other then they have with us in fly-over country.

I lean toward Newt because he's been there, he stood his ground and told his handlers to walk if they wanted to early in the race AND because he is trashed so much.

I remember his part in '94 and the Contract With America. Is he perfect? Hell no. Are you? Am I? Fng no.

Paul has a lot of good ideas but he was DOA given his foregin policy views.

It's a rotten choice given the stakes but that's what we get more times then not. Some times the winner surprises us.

Let's not forget Congress matters too (although that my not be true for long).

I agree Newt Gingnrich attended the Bohemian Grove  in July of 1995. The Elites  fraud will fix that fat fuck Newt Gingrinch as the winner.

Casual, you may want to check out Newt and his Contract With America a little further - it was a last minute ruse by neo-cons to steal the credit for an unstoppable grassroots Take-Back America movement to elect conservatives in 1994. Newt, for his entire career, has been using conservative issues as a faux front to advance his career; and then, voting with his Big Government cronies.

Devvy wrote regarding Newt on NewsWithViews.com in 2009 :

“I ask you - who gave us the Mexican peso plunder of $52 billion, the Brady Bill, GATT, NAFTA and on and on and on? Dole, Gingrich, Herger, Clinton, Gephardt, Bonior, Feinstein, Bush - the list goes on. In August of 1993, Henry Kissinger, kingpin of this global kingdom, stated in an article he wrote for the Los Angeles Times Syndicate: ‘NAFTA represents the single most creative step towards a New World Order since the end of the Cold War.’

“The New York Times ran a full page ad, April 15, 1994 which read: ‘GATT is the third pillar of the New World Order.’

As for Newt’s Contract With America, what was wrong with the original contract, the U.S. Constitution? When it was obvious the take-back-America grassroots movement would sweep pro-life Republicans into office in 1994, Newt Gingrich and other neo-cons, late in the game stepped in front of this grassroots parade with their own agenda to co-opt and re-label the movement “Contract With America.”  Of course the neo-cons were helped in the takeover ruse by a cooperative media.

Llewellyn Rockwell, President of the Ludwig von Mises Institute and publisher of The Free Market, observed back then that, rhetoric notwithstanding, "Newt Gingrich is a Rockefeller Republican," a big-government `Conservative' who talks a good line, but … will give us higher taxes, more government, and more spending. His `Contract with America' is a fraud; it should be called a `Press Conference with America."

It was Newt on October 22, 1991, who voted for an amendment to the federal crime bill offered by Rep. David McCurdy (D-OK) to establish a National Police Corps.  Reports Devvy: Although he didn't vote for the $30-billion Clinton crime bill of 1994, he resurrected it and helped make passage possible. As Rep. Susan Molinari (R-NY), one of Newt's cheerleaders, explained to Michael Kinsley on CNN's Crossfire, "If it wasn't for Newt Gingrich, you wouldn't have a crime bill."

And that’s just for starters. And, oh yes, Newt WROTE the forward for Alvin Toffler's book, Creating A New Civilization: The Politics of the Third Wave - a best seller in Communist China because it mirrors Mao.

On page 433, Toffler's writes: “The founding fathers as the architects of the political system which served so well, this system of government you (the founding fathers) fashioned, including the very principles on which you based it, is increasingly obsolete  and hence increasingly if inadvertently, oppressive and dangerous to our welfare. It must be radically changed and a new system of government invented - a democracy for the 2lst Century."

GREAT stuff, JR!  I knew all of this, but didn't have it down "on paper".  I will be pasting this EVERYWHERE!

Especially disturbing to me is the Toeffler stuff.  THIS is the kind of deep research that people won't do....they're just too lazy, and are satisfied with the media's "top 10 reasons why....".  Spoonfeeding, all of it.

Thanks!

Added note:  Not only did newt write the forward, he has been a devotee of the Toefflers FOREVER.  Disgusting!

I read from somewhere the candidates have already spent about 26 million dollars for this "preselection" process! Romney leading with NINE million dollars. Democracy is truly dead in USA, it is rich man's game from start to finish.

The lame stream media tries to tell us Newt is leading with 37%.

Newt could only get 25 people to turn up to his speech at 5000 capacity TD Arena:

"CHARLESTON, S.C.- Newt Gingrich has cancelled a campaign appearance in South Carolina because of poor attendance."

"There were just a few dozen people in the audience at the College of Charleston's arena, where the event was taking place."

http://www.mercurynews.com/presidentelect/ci_19782823

The same day RP drew over 1000 to a Chareleston College to hear from him:

Ron Paul draws huge crowd of supporters during ‘The Bully Pulpit Series’ held at the College of Charleston

COLUMBIA, SC – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul attracted more than 1,000 supporters in Charleston today, demonstrating his strong support among younger voters and his overall popularity.
