Ron Paul To Ben Bernanke: "People Lose Trust In The Government Because You Lie To Them About Inflation"

Tyler Durden's picture

Anytime Ron Paul sits across from Ben Bernanke you know sparks will fly. Sure enough, they did: starting 3 mins 50 seconds into the clip below, Ron Paul, guns blazing, asks the Chairman if he does his own shopping, if he is aware of what true inflation is, and if he knows that Americans don't trust the government because they are being lied to about inflation. And it only gets better, once Paul starts brandishing a silver coin. The punchline: "The Fed will self-destruct anyway when the money is gone" - amen. And ironically letting the Fed keep on doing what it is doing will achieve that in the fastest possible way. In fact, letting the system cannibalize itself with no further hindrances may be the best option currently available - just go to town.

When you calculate inflation by omitting food and energy, the two components your policies create the largest amount of inflation in, you are no better than Bernie Madoff.  You're bigger, but no better.

Truth in brevity.

Amazing clip of The Bernank getting owned.

The Bernank (aka Shakey 'CTRL+P' McShakester) knows, despite the temporary games distorting the price of precious, that each and every time he eases another boatload of paper fiat into the bankster black hole, precious (and all commodities) will always reveal his trickery & the entire fractional reserve debt pyramid scam.

Even Krugman himself has probably quietly begun to hoard barbaric relics in anticipation of what's to come.

As always and as history proves, it only matters who counts the votes, not how the people voted.  The delegate votes are tallied in secret of course.  This is why I call it a selection, not an election.  The candidate is selected for us folks.  We the People lost our ability to elect our representatives a LONG time ago.

<--- Passed jr. high civics class

<--- Failed jr. high civics class

Congressmen, such as Ron Paul, do the spending in America.  Last I checked, Bernanke is many things, but congressman is not one of them.

Did you even read Ron Paul's letter on the inflation tax at this link?

...

The third option is for the Federal Reserve to create credit to pay the bills Congress runs up. Nobody objects, and most Members [not named Ron Paul] hope that deficits don't really matter if the Fed accommodates Congress by creating more money. Besides, interest payments to the Fed are lower than they would be if funds were borrowed from the public, and payments can be delayed indefinitely merely by creating more credit out of thin air to buy U.S. treasuries. No need to soak the rich. A good deal, it seems, for everyone. But is it?

The “tax” is paid when prices rise as the result of a depreciating dollar. Savers and those living on fixed or low incomes are hardest hit as the cost of living rises. Low- and middle-incomes families suffer the most as they struggle to make ends meet while wealth is literally transferred from the middle class to the wealthy. Government officials stick to their claim that no significant inflation exists, even as certain necessary costs are skyrocketing and incomes are stagnating.

Bernanke is directly responsible for inflation, which is expansion of the money supply, and Bernanke is the biggest money supply expander of all.

However, Bernanke is not responsible for rising prices.  People in general are responsible for that.  People raise prices of whatever they're selling because they perceive the dollar losing value.

No, it's not a direct correlation.  Price raises typically lag expansion of the money supply by several months, and can be affected by other factors as well, like supply & demand.

If merchants were to use the price of gold or silver as a guide in setting their own prices, it would probably be the most accurate barometer of all, and would more or less shield them from the effects of Bernanke's currency printing.

However, merchants typically set prices based on their costs to make the product available for sale, or some other factor like "what the market will bear" (which is a supply & demand factor).

Ron Paul needs to go take Econ 101 just like Bernanke does.

And by they way, Bernanke is right when he says he's not spending other people's money.

But he IS spending other people's wealth.

Wed, 02/29/2012 - 14:50 | 2209033 faustian bargain
faustian bargain's picture

are you saying there is evidence of trends in overall prices rising during a period when the money supply contracts? Because the 'lag' you cite means nothing. It's simply the 'trickle down' time of inflation (that's one thing that does trickle down).

That he claimed he "is not spending taxpayer money" with a poker face is all the proof anyone needs that he's a textbook sociopath.

  • Pathological Lying

Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and even able to pass lie detector tests.

  • Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt

A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.

  • Indifference to Suffering of Others

Not concerned about wrecking others' lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed.

  • Callousness/Lack of Empathy

Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others' feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them.

  • Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity

Promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts.

The criminals of which you speak of are his puppetmasters, working in the shadows of very old money power, their faces rarely seen. If you want to know who these vermin are, simply follow the ownership money-trail of every major banking house and corporate megalopoly...to their eventual apexes. People allowed and are allowing themselves to be betrayed. TPTB use our weaknesses against us and will continue to do so until we wake up. Waking up to what is, not your opinion of what is, is the key. The will to want to wake up, unfortunately, is usually preceded by great amounts of pain and suffering. Not many want to realize the truth of who they are when they are comfortable with the lie of who they think they are. In a way, TPTB are facilitating our transition from shiny bauble chasing monkey minds to self realized human BEINGS!

Best part though was when the Bernanke said, "good to see you again...Congressman Paul" at 4:40 of the clip.  I'm sure he had his fingers and toes crossed when he said it.

And ironically letting the Fed keep on doing what it is doing will achieve that in the fastest possible way. In fact, letting the system cannibalize itself with no further hindrances may be the best option currently available - just go to town.

Indeed.

Absent Ron Paul himself becoming a bigger threat than he currently is, this is akin to my frequent assertion that re-electing Obama in 2012 is the best available option as it will help collapse this busted, opressive, kleptocratic welfare state sooner rather than later.

Call it the purple pill.

All do respect this is complete and utter lunacy.

We are very quickly devolving into tyranny because of this one single man and of course his backers, czars, clinton, etc.   we've lost the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th amendments this past 6 monhts.

All with little or no leglisation actually being passed.

We have Obama because people decided in 2008 that we were going to teach the republicans a lesson.   And look at what we've got.   Not saying Bush was much better than this guy - they are actually one and the same except that this guy is either evil enough or just plain insane enough to take it all away from us.   If he is re-elected he will eliminate gun ownership, we will all eat the same soylent green.   And we'll be renting from Fannie and Freddie.   Yep, just out, they're talking about it...all those foreclosures, well, now people can rent from thegovernment.   Woo hoo.   Good shit.

A collapse is not a good thing.  Many will die.   It's not good and don't hope for it.

Wed, 02/29/2012 - 16:14 | 2208550 Mercury
Mercury's picture

The kinds of things you describe have been relentlessly progressing forward for much longer than Obama has been around.  We may not yet be at the point of total tyranny but we're very close to the point at which for instance, the UK is now - where the only difference between the "conservative" and the liberal" party is that the former wants the VAT to be 23% and the later 24% (or whatever).

We're well beyond the point where any political superman can turn the ship around (how much could a president Paul ever undo really?). Eventually the state won't be able to hide the fact that it's broke and since reducing the size and scope of government has never happened in this country in any meaningful way it will then start to confiscate property wholesale and reduce your personal liberty to the spheres of sex and shopping.  The government is in business for itself at this point, providing "services" is just overhead. And it won't disassemble itself willingly.

I realize I could be proven wrong but I happen to think that allowing the water to slowly heat to the point of doom is less likely to provide a catalyst for change than a sudden, systemic shock.  Putting out a well fire with dynamite is dangerous sure, but sometimes it's the best available option.

Hey Hedge and JPM-H,

First of all - im glad you took the question in the right way as im not trying to tear a strip off of RP...but rather just sincerely ask for the good of the people - if that is a possibility (w olf in sheeps clothing). The short term answer - anything is a possiblity.

Hedge says 'Wouldnt it be obvious' (if RP was a bogus)? A. Not when 'they' are trying to be discreet.

BUT, someone needs to be a critic and just throw it out there.

When i see 500 intelligent ZedHeds all love and support RP, without hardly any critics - you gotta admit its a bit eerie. Someone needs to be dissecting him right to the bone  - for OUR sake.

Also, with all due respect, i understand from you guys that he hasnt changed his 'tune' in years and keeps saying the same good stuff over and over again. But, what about his actions? What about his association and connection with others? Their is more to it than - great sincere speeches... just saying.

These guys - TPTB- are 100 moves ahead of us...they are sophisticated, orgainzed, poerful, extremely smart, rich... so I NEED to be paranoid.

Thank you for understanding... We must dissect EVERYONE one...even the most sincerest of the sincere.

Dr. Paul has said he is a great admirer of Ayn Rand. So has Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), whose attempt to destroy Medicare might cost Republicans 30 House seats. So has former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan, whose monetary policies, not unrelated to his admiration for Ayn Rand, did as much as anyone to cause the financial crash.

Ayn Rand, like Karl Marx, was a strong disbeliever in the values of organized religion, and Jesus Christ in particular. Ayn Rand, a fierce and aggressive critic of President Kennedy, was a strong disbeliever in the concept of patriotism that involves sacrifice for others.

well BLOTTO, not everyone here is besotted with Ron Paul, but I agree that many have jumped on the fan-wagon, and there hasn't been much due diligence done in thread. . . most likely because Paul lights up areas of interest for many here, and the darker corners they're okay with leaving be.

it's the process of voting, and the beliefs that go with the process like hand-in-glove, that want looking at though - that voting matters, that voting makes a difference, that a "president" has the power to make sweeping changes irrespective of the majority of government tools who stand in the way, that the "district" of Columbia is even a part of the nationstate, ooooh, I could go on, and have.

there needs to be a recognition of the system, but when one participates from within, it's hard to see the whole picture.

I have respect for many who post here, but it must be acknowledged, the demographic is heavily skewed. . .

Yes he's been a wolf in sheep's clothing for 30 years, being the sole dissenting voice against govt. intervention in markets and debasing the dollar. That makes sense. The one person that has been trying to speak the truth and he's the bad guy. The 72 year old that is ignored and panned by the Main Stream Propaganda Media Machine is the true villian in the wings. The person that went into politics because of dangerous federal monetary policy and has been buying precious metals for decades anticipating the growing and currenct problems with Keynseian economics is the one people should distrust. The one man that predicted 9/11, Iraq war, housing bubble and collapse, bailouts...that is the man everyone needs to be wary of not govt sycophants and panderers.

I'm not sure what your point is.

If Ron Paul doesn't represent an improvement, then noone does. In which case, what's the problem? You're screwed any which way, so there's nothing you can do about it.

It's probably true that there's too much momentum already, and even Ron Paul as president wouldn't do anything to fix things. So? How are you going to implement your "No more" manifesto?

I think if you look, you'll see that most Ron Paul supporters understand that the real solution lies within our own selves...I'm certainly not looking for an easy fix from anyone. All most of us want is to be able to solve our own problems without also having to struggle against a huge fascist machine.

if you truly have come to know this, then you are free of being a voter, of having to "choose" someone to act for you - you can ignore the circus, and act for yourself.

you'll not win any friends or support from "voters" though - why would you? - the group supports itself, and turns on those who stand apart from it, this is how it always is, you know this.  believers protect their beliefs from scrutiny.

act on what you know, what you believe to be true - see where it takes you!
