Ron Paul: "I Don't Fully Endorse Romney For President"

Tyler Durden's picture

On the 'new' eve of the Republican Convention, it appears all is not well in the Romney-Ryan ranks. In what is quite a stunning admission, though not entirely surprising given his outspoken desire for a change to the status quo, the NY Times is reporting that Ron Paul does not fully endorse Romney for President. Mr. Paul, said convention planners had offered him an opportunity to speak under two conditions: that he deliver remarks vetted by the Romney campaign, and that he give a full-fledged endorsement of Mr. Romney. He declined. "It wouldn't be my speech," Mr. Paul said. "That would undo everything I’ve done in the last 30 years. I don’t fully endorse him for president." Whether this is Paul playing an admirable 'long-game' and/or standing by his libertarian roots (or angry at his apparent marginalization) is unclear but one thing is for sure; with the dominance of 'young' voters (seeking 'change'?) behind Ron Paul relative to 'old' voters with Romney, this rebuff will not help in the fight against TOTUS. As BigStory reports, Paul is telling his supporters to stand firm because "we will become the tent eventually!"

Not voting doesn't screw them over.  Some places actually don't have Diebold.  Unfortunately for me where I am there is Diebold.

Yes it does.  It reduces his mandate.  He can't claim a ringing endorsement and you won't have defiled your sacred vote with a pig.  You fail to ratify evil.  It's a scam!

I wouldn't vote for a pig.  So much for the pig's mandate.  I'd like to vote for Gary Johnson, but how will I know who gets my electronic vote?

Hows that?  All the hanging chad votes were for Gore.  Every time there was a recount Gores tally went up and chads littered the floor.

I have the option of electronic voting OR a paper ballot, and I choose the paper ballot every time.  This way I can write in the candidate of my choice, who, oddly enough, is never an establishment candidate.  That way, when my vote is corrupted, it has to be a laborious, done-by-hand process and not simply a line of programming on the Diebold computer.  I like to make them work to corrupt my vote. Yeah, I am a dick, why do you ask? ;)

Read The Cloward-Piven Strategy. They’re plan all along was/is to crash the economy to usher in a Socialist state. Barry isnt incompetent or stupid. In fact he’s highly intelligent. He also knows EXACTLY what he’s doing, which makes him DANGEROUS. Look at everything that has transpired since he took office and it becomes very clear – NEVER passed a budget [required by law], unprecedented welfare & foodstamp enrollment, unprecedented poverty, 4 years of $1.5 TRILLION dollar spending, first US credit downgrade in history, ignores his own budget panel [bowles-simpson], sets up special sequestration panel which fails completely, etc, etc, etc. Ignore the words and focus on the actions. Obviously Barry and the Progressives wont admit this openly because the people would revolt. They play the game and he continues to placate the masses while continuing the march toward system overload. This has got to qualify as one of history’s greatest frauds.

For some reason, there are those who seem to think that "Let's sign everyone up for welfare so it crashes the system" is a brilliant plan that requires genious on the scale of Albert Einstien to conceive and carry out.

Give me a break.

Agreed.

First, months ago, he multiple thread-jacked the top string of every topic pushing for Ron Paul ... then, when RP pulled out, he immediately switched to thread-jacking in support of Obomber.

The Obomber supporters are becoming hysterical, on the net and in the media, at the moment! They're worried.

I couldn't give a fuck which puppet wins (since both parties will follow exactly the same agenda...just as Obomber's administration continued Dubya's administration to the letter), but I object to being treated like a dumb fucking sheep by dumb fucking thread-jacking shills like Michael.

Washington DC needs to be dismantled, not supported by voting [yet again] for more of the same corruption and treason.

Asking for Obomber to crash the system means that Obomber will be in control of the crash and the subsequent rebuild on his backers' terms. Asking for Oromney to crash the system means that Oromney will be in control of the crash and the subsequent rebuild on his backers' terms. The men behind the curtain are the same in both cases.

Both options are therefore idiotic in the extreme!!!

The people need to take control of crashing the current corrupt system (by seceding and repudiating odious debt) ... though, unfortunately, there is no sign of such a movement on the horizon -- either on ZH or in the public at large. **sigh**

A number of my neo-con golf buds (and I have a number of progressive golf buds also, this being the Winter Home of the Great Satan on the Left Coast where I'm about the only sane person remaining) have progressively gone from one Republican front runner to the next finally settling upon the Mittens, each one having been the One and Only God's Gift to Man, the Savior from Heaven when in fact all they really want is to see the O-Man be defeated.
I've tried in vein to explain that it's all the one and the same party in the illusory end and that their only Real Hope for Change lay in the Nomination of Ron Paul where there would be Actual Substantive Discussions of Reality which would conclude with the Embarrassment of the Current One Leviathan System.
They have angered to the point of avoiding me when told that if they run the Mittens that they are merely voting for Yomamma as Hypocritical Traitors to the American Dream and morning constitutional which they claim to hold precious.
Might as well just take a shit as tell me anything more.
The polarization is incredible.
So much for the Unity Thing...
Sorrowfully they are easily angered when confronted with their false pride and intellectual inconsistencies.
And if they do loose, I will be telling them that they elected the Greater Fool, Them Very Selves for not having supported Paul.
And I'll be saying it harshly.
Oh and PS, they say that if Willie Wins, they're gonna sell their gold.
I don't golf with them much anymore as they've become difficult to be around with their self aggrandizing holier than thou hypocrisy.
May God save us all as we have proven clearly incapable ourselves.

No, RP is not posturing.

Mr. Paul has done much to get his views to the main streem.  Unfortunately it took the financial shock of 08' combined with a dismal excuse for a Presidency to get everyone to listen.

Regardless, Ron Paul is a success and better to vote for someone who is closer to your beliefs than someone who is further..

Down here in Congressional District 14, where we still live free, Ron Paul ain't so special. His stances are generally common.

So WTF am I so supposed to get so excited about? How to raid a Republican primary and then whine when you don't win? He should write a book, 'How to go to Washington and be completely ineffective by being perceived as a whack job'. Wasn't no wonder his Republican primary run was much of the same. So look for his second book 'How to run for President and be completely ineffective'. And he is so not representing his district with his talk of legalizing 12 million illegal aliens. Nope. Good thing he's not running for re-election, he'd have been served a tall fucking glass of comeuppance. Fucking politicians.

And now I have to read a thousand whiney ron paul bitches complaining how republicans gave ron paul the shaft. Fucking whiney bitches.

I don't know specifics.  What I am saying is that on the big stuff (i.e., the inevitable brutal crackdown following the inevitable hyperinflation), it doesn't matter if we get Obama or Romney because they will both move America deeper into totalitarianism in any way that benefits their bankster puppetmasters.  Now, as for the all-important issues of gay marriage, magic underpants, terrorist fist jabs and American flag lapel pins:  Obama and Romney are encouraged to go their separate ways.  This hides the fact that America is a one-party dictatorship.

I switched from the Libertarian Party to the Republican Party specifically so that I could support and vote for Ron Paul, and try to help change the Republican Party from within. I gave quite a lot, for me, to the cause.

I went to the precinct caucus and became a county delegate. Found out my precinct leader screwed up(supposedly) and didn't take the votes for the Congressional and State delegates. That allowed me request and to become a delegate for said conventions, for paying the parties fees.  When it came to the State convention I found out my name wasn't on the list. My County Chair said she did what she was supposed to do, but someone else higher up in the State party dropped the ball. Yeah, okay, sure.

I educated myself on issues. I donated to Ron Paul's campaign to the full extent, which is a ton for me! I wore Ron Paul 2012 T-Shirts most everywhere I went, if not End The Fed t-shirts. I personally delivered Ron Paul Super-brochures to about 1,800 doors in my neighborhood. I have three Ron Paul bumper stickers on my tailgate. I put Ron Paul signs up in my yard. Like a lot of other people, I made posts and tweets all over the Internet about Ron Paul and Austrian Economic ideals. And I could probably go on and on if I could recall more right now.

Since Dr. Paul has been almost completely marginalized, many times not even mentioned... I have decided I am voting for Gary Johnson since he will be, on the ballot, and on the ballot in all 50 States. And I will return to the Libertarian Party.

"You and each of you do covenant and promise that you will pray and never cease to pray to Almighty God to avenge the blood of the prophets upon this nation, and that you will teach the same to your children and to your children's children unto the third and fourth generation."

"The prophets" referred to Joseph Smith and Hyrum Smith, who were killed in 1844 by a mob while in jail in Carthage, Illinois. "This nation" referred to the United States.

Had to register R to vote for Paul in the primary. I actually resigned my seat on the local Democratic Committee (a trifling position would be overstating things) in 2008 so that I could vote for Ron then. I'll switch to Independent on my next DL renewal. I won't be voting in November, at least not for President. I've written in presidential votes before but they are either not tallied or not reported.

Mr. Hope-n-Change division class starts now.

Coulda sworn Cain ran in the primary and was derided as an Uncle Tom by leftist dims.  They even dragged out some ladies who said he sexually assaulted them. I suppose they weren't that concerned about their dignity after he dropped out?

I guess sitting Senator Rubio and Senator elect Cruz is an Uncle...what, exactly?

So, O'Barry is using drones on who again, or is his white half making him do that? I distinctly remember a photo of him warching a monitor as one of the most prominent muslims I know of was double tapped by a SEAL team...or was that a fake? If it was fake, O'Barry is lying isn't he?

What women are being alienated? The ones who want someone else to pay for their birth control, like Georgetown law students paying 50k a year to attend law school? It costs ten bucks a month ya know. Do you know how many black and brown babies are aborted, funded by the state, yearly? Why do you hate the idea of more black kids in the country? You're a closeted eugenicist aren't you?

Did you get your hate chicken sandwich yet? How was it...the pickle I mean?

And middle class...define for me middle class, without any government subsidy...TIA ;-)

If we get a major crash between now and Nov, he just might win.  If things muddle along, he could split the vote and throw the election to Obama, who has certain perverse advantages over Romney (see above).  What would be really interesting is if RP comes first in the popular vote, Obamney comes second, and Roboma comes last.  Without an electoral college majority, the election goes into the House.  Some liberty candidates could hold out for Ron Paul, and Dems would obviously hold out for Obama, thus forcing a bunch of GOP congresscritters to vote for... Obama!  This would tear down the two-party facace and possibly inspire Texas to secede.  If Texas secedes during the collapse and crackdown, most states would follow.  Could NY, DC, NJ, MD, MA, CT, RI, and DE hold out against everyone else?  Bwahahahah

At this point, I accept that provocation of soul seaching and emphasis of principles within the Party itself is a justified approach.  Much more and consistent activism on the part of the proles is needed here.  If the Party machines leave us with only a lesser of evils choice, RP by any means is certainly the preferred option.

pragmatic hobo "what's keeping Paul from ditchinb the republican party and running as independent?"

Ron Paul is far more Conservative then many people realize when he says cut he means it he would cut everything he could. If he left he would be on his own because the left wouldn't cut social programs. His political ideology is actually far more Conservative then even the so called most fiscally responsible Conservative. He is of the older Conservative crowd the one that used to be against foreign entanglements thus his stance on bringing home the troops and closing the bases. He is not against protecting America he is just against being the policeman of the world. He also said he recognized Jerusalem is the capital of Israel the left doesn't like that.

""The real issue here is not what America wants, but what does Israel want," Paul told evangelical leaders, according to a transcript of the meeting obtained by Business Insider. "If Israel wants their capital to be Jerusalem, then the United States should honor that."

"How would we like it if some other nation said 'We decided to recognize New York City as your capital instead, so we will build our embassy there?'" he added. "

I've followed his career for some time (I'm 52).

He has tried to remain consistent, within the system as constructed for him, for his entire life. I wouldn't call myself a fan but I voted for him in the Florida primary as the one most closely holding my views.

Now its down to two.

I am ABO, first and foremost...and so is he.

I've stated so in no uncertain terms on more occasions than I can remember.

I also support the TP. I sent my little tea bag in while O'Barry was still moving his shit into the WH and they were resucitating the fake fainters next to the fake Greek columns (styrofoam) that this skinny little twerp stood beside. He is a menace to everything I know and love about this country and so is Reid. I have had to sit back and endure "Hope & Change", Cash for Clunkers, GM bond holders being ass raped, Larry Summers, Eric Holder, "jobs saved or created" lies and obfuscation, BLS bullshit, Christina fucking Romer and every other statist tool from academia that they can scrape their fat ass out of a chair and stuff in front of a TV camera to prop up this fraud...with the underlying knowledge my countrymen would wake up eventually.

To your point, he would need a Senate and a House controlled by people who think like him.

To my point, I'm not interested in compromise at all.

You and I are about the same age.

We're also probably as far apart on the artificial political spectrum as you can get.

However, I think the line is really more of a circle.

I used to joke with one of my good friends like this:

Q: What's the difference between an anarchist and a libertarian?

A: The size of his wallet.

Sun, 08/26/2012 - 21:20 | 2739808 nmewn
nmewn's picture

lol...thats a good one.

I've had running commentary with akak on this. For the record, I'm middle class. My wallet ain't that big.

The thing with anarchy is, as I've said before, you and I could survive quite well in it...my neighbors could not. There would come a time when structure (rules and law) would come into the community...for good or ill.

The idea is to shape it for the good of all without it becoming the "whats in it for me" on the other side of the circle we're confronting now. We're seeing the withdrawl from the corruption now. If it goes to hell I'm (and mine) are fine but its not what I want.

I want it back. I want the rule of law applied evenly to everyone regardless of status.

Its no more fair for a senators son to avoid a war that the senators dad voted for, than for a government to vote themselves endless entititlements exhorting others to keep them in office by promising endless entitlements.

damnit, why the fuck does everyone read so much into this and believe the MSM BULLSHIT of a Romney/Paul 'conspiracy' or what the fuck else ever.

Ron Paul said the same thing about Newt Gingrich when they asked if he would endorse him and he said, not likely UNLESS he changes his views.

This is why the Ronbots/Ronulans/Paulites or whatever the hell else you want to call us STILL BELIEVE Ron Paul is winning.

Paul has not endorsed Romney, and Paul sure has fuck hasn't changed a SINGLE ISSUE to Romney's views...but..Romney's views are slowly changing to Paul's views...

Romeny is now backing an audit of the fed... http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-08-20/romney-calls-for-fed-audit-a...

The GOP is talking about returning to a gold standard (yes they talking about the old failed bretton woods fixed rate, but at least we're TALKING about it, not just ignoring it)

http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/politics/item/12614-gop-considers-r...

Romney would fire Bernake (ok ok, he'll just elect another Keynsian doofus but damnit lets at least get rid of Bernake)

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/onpolitics/post/2012/08/mitt-rom...

These are the positions of Romney that Ron Paul 'supports'. He is NOT endorsing Mittens, but his issues are now Romney's issues, hence his mention of 'not fully endorsing'.

Obviously the 2 biggest things Ron has not managed to get Romney/GOP to talk about yet, is the size of the Pentagon and the welfare state (medicare/medicaid/soc sec).

But please, lets keep shit in perspective here.
