Russia Discloses The Iran Ultimatum: Cooperate Or Be Invaded By Year End
In what can only be seen as raising the rhetoric bar on the timing, scale, and seriousness of the Iran 'situation', Kommersant is reporting that "Tehran has one last chance" as US Secretary of State Clinton asks her Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov to relay the message to Iranian leaders. If this 'last chance' is wasted an attack will happen in months as diplomats noted that the probability of an Israel/US attack on Iran is now a specific 'when' instead of an indefinite 'if'. The sentiment is best summarized by a quote from inside the meeting "The invasion will happen before year’s end. The Israelis are de facto blackmailing Obama. They’ve put him in this interesting position – either he supports the war or loses the support of the Jewish lobby". Russian diplomats, as Russia Today points out, criticized the 'last chance' rhetoric as unprofessional suggesting "those tempted to use military force should restrain themselves - a war will not solve any problems, but create a million new ones."

When I finally grasped the enormity of what is going on, I went into a tailspin. All the comforts I had grown accustomed were torn away. I was naked of beliefs, which in a lot of ways was quite helpful.
Now I try to see view things more analytically, and see what conclusion the data fits best. I form my own theories, instead of buying a pre-packaged one (false paradigms).
I have also come to grips with my own powerlessness, and have learned acceptance.
Much happier for it.

Russia and the USA (and China is getting there), prefer to fight controlled wars, like the Falklands (Malvinas) war, or the Irak invasion of Kuwait war to test their respective military capabilities and then use the results to feed computer models that allow them to see what would happen if they did what you suggest. In a few instances Russia has stayed their ground, Iran being one of them. That is the whole reason the message to Iran about the USA invasion has to and will come from Russia.

Apparently, Gold has been wack down in preparation for what is coming and at great financial cost I might add. It is nieve to believe that the United States is not front and center in all issues associated with military moves against Iran. The U.S. has strategic interests in undermining the Iranian regime, because Iran is positioned to be the future dominant force in the Middle East. This threatens what is left of the pro-American Gulf States. The Kabuki dance of watching Israel pretend to try to "talk" the U.S. into supporting its strike is just silly. The fix is in for the Iraelies to bomb Iran, but it will be the U.S. command and controil that will really call the shots.
What I believe is not understood, is that Iran want some type of military confrontation. The Iranians have world class Russian anti-aircraft and anti-ship capabilities and will perform fairly impressively during the bombing campaign. Iran will get beat up, but the U.S. image in the region will be in taters and the "Arab Spring" states will be radicalized in favor of Iran. The geography of Iran would require This will do wonders for future Russian hardware sales!
There will be no "invasion" of Iran. The land mass of Iran is 636,000 sq. miles and a population of 79 million. Israel is 8000 sq. miles and a population of less than 8 million, 20% are arabs. Iran is not flat like Iraq. It is more like Afghanistan, but with people who are educated and a military that is very well trained. Half the country is mountanous and Iran has prepared to defend themselves from high ground. It would take a ground army of 700,000 to conquer Iran. This is not feasible.
The existential risk to Iran is not military intervention, it is that price of oil prices plummets. No one will loan money to Iran. The country runs almost entirely on oil revenues and they need approximately $86 per barrel to keep the elitists in Teheran fat and the peasants in countryside fed. With the U.S. rapidly moving to energy independance and Europe stuck in recession /depression for a long time, there is a huge risk for Iran if the price of oil crashes back to $50 per barrel.
The U.S. aircraft Enterprise just left the East Coast to join two other U.S. big flat toops and a smaller helicopter support carrier to protect the Straits of Hormuz. This is a big time armada. I believe the bombings will start around July so that Obama can be best positioned to "wag the dog" in the November elections.
The U.S. is about to enter into a very complicated game.

A strike to Tehran will effectively radicalize the Westernize, moderate segment of the Iranian population. I mean, hell, if my country was invaded I'd jump on the defense bandwagon regardless of how FUBARed I thought my government was too.
This isn't Iraq. I can't fathom the stupidity and hubris that is involved in the insane decisions that are being made behind closed doors in the US. I think we'll find that a preemptive attack and ensuing "collateral damage" (killing of civilians) in Iran is going to cause blow-back in whatever Western countries participate in the initial strikes.
