Russia Retaliates Against US: Puts Radar Station On Combat Alert, Prepares To Take Out European Missile Defense Systems

Tyler Durden's picture

Earlier today, we presented the latest developments in the escalating possibility of an imminent air (and potentially land) campaign targeting Syria by the "western world", a move that would infuriate not only Iran, but also Russia and China, both of which have made it clear they would not sit idly by and let such an "aggression" stand. Now it is Russia's turn to retaliate. Cutting straight to the chase - in a nationally televized appearance by Russian president Dmitry Medvedev: in response to what the Russian believes is an active incursion and a potential act of eventual aggression on behalf of NATO countries in Eastern Europe (and hence the US), he he said the following (7 minutes in): "First, I am instructing the Defense Ministry to immediately put the missile attack early warning radar station in Kaliningrad on combat alert. Second, protective cover of Russia's strategic nuclear weapons, will be reinforced as a priority measure under the programme to develop out air and space defenses. Third, the new strategic ballistic missiles commissioned by the Strategic Missile Forces and the Navy will be equipped with advanced missile defense penetration systems and new highly-effective warheads. Fourth, I have instructed the Armed Forces to draw up measures for disabling missile defense system data and guidance systems if need be... Fifth, if the above measures prove insufficient, the Russian Federation will deploy modern offensive weapon systems in the west and south of the country, ensuring our ability to take out any part of the US missile defense system, in Europe. One step in this process will be to deploy Iskander missiles in Kaliningrad Region. Other measures to counter the European missile defense system will be drawn up and implemented as necessary. Furthermore, if the situation continues to develop not in Russia's favor we reserve the right to discontinue further disarmament and arms control measures. Besides, given the intrinsic link between strategic offensive and defensive arms, conditions for our withdrawal from the New START Treaty could also arise." That said, he concludes that Russia is still open to dialog. However, if Obama merely intends to bomb any nation at will, we are very much concerned that everything Medvedev has just threatened will be enacted. And exponentially more so when Putin comes back in charge. One thing is certain - Russia is not North Korea, and taking this speech for more empty jawboning is probably not the wisest option.

Just wondering about the International Space Station. Could the Russians refuse to take American astronauts back into space? If war broke out, would the astronauts and cosmonauts have to fight each other if they were both aboard the station together?

America is just the mercenary army for the NWO. TPTB use the Americans to attack (eg. Iraq), or support (eg. Libya), or end/mop-up (eg. WWI & WWII) as needed.

At some point they will send the Americans on a suicide mission (as they did with Hitler and Napoleon against Russia), but not before they have achieved their political objective ... world government.

I suspect this is all just a new ploy to keep the US troops away from US soil (where they could turn on DC).

America is just the mercenary army for the NWO.

Just?

Power is a trinity.

  • Washington DC is the sword.
  • City of London is the gold.
  • Vatican City is the mind (or belief).

Well, traditionally anyway. Zionism may be vying for position of the mind.

To get your way (power) with people, you need to

a) Convince them that they are doing the right thing (belief)

b) Give them an economic incentive for action (gold)

c) Threaten them with force if the first two methods fail (sword)

You can see this trinity where/when ever the PTB decide a country needs to be under their control.

First step is to either convert them to Christianity or failing that the belief system known as 'free market capitalism'

Failing that, bribe their 'leaders' or 'Government' with gold or fiat.

Failing that, send in the marines (and at the very least get the gold back).

Lucky boob,  you underestimate the Russians, and overestimate America's military strength.  Don't feel bad, the Germans did the same thing.

Remember they just got their first east - west paved road this year...........

Russia spans eleven time zones, and they don't spend extravagantly.  That road was an extravagance though, because virtually no one uses it.  Rail is cheaper, and much faster.

Nuclear war is mutually assured destruction, and so it probably won't come to that.  If it comes to a land war, America will prove itself to be a paper tiger, much like it's economy, it's "shining city on the hill" moral authority, and it's alleged can-do grit.  America now has all the attributes of a bully with a complicit populace.  Like a poser who lives to terrorize the weak, but is easily whipped by anyone other than girls, children, and cowards.

The logic is flawed.

Mutually Assured Destruction is an inevitability the instant that either side can see that it is losing.

When there is nothing more to lose MAD becomes a win-win scenario...

The German generals counseled against attacking Russia, knowing the problems associated with the Russian winter and the problems with controlling that much land area. Hitler was either an idiot or under orders.

ANY major country that entertains war with another is just talk. It is impossible to invade and hold any major power. Both Russia and the US are incapable of handling Afganistan. China has its' hands full with Tibet.

It is amazing how easy it is to get the paranoia of Americans whipped up into a froth.

Normally, for votes politicians are a little bit more bull-shitty----talk, talk, jawbone----

This strikes me as being a tiny bit different:

1---pull our citizens out!!!!

2---a definite threat from the Russians like a fucking bolt out of the blue!

Pretty stupid electioneering to re-enact the Cuban Missle Crisis this far away from the elections

But thgese are just 'reasons' that an oldman's mind dreams up to explain something that intuitively does nor feel right

Notice the section about its range, 250 nm or 400km (horizontally) ... it can also reach the lower ionosphere within an enemy's territory.

Notice also the section on warhead types, and look at the last option, it says EMP.

That is tactical EMP level.

Get it? This is a system that was designed to be able to launch an EMP barrage and keep doing it (for weeks if necessary) to keep the radar-picture blank, and network comms on the blink.

First you launch these short-range ones, just inside an enemy's borders, at lower altitude, to blind and deafen the opponent and prevent warnings being transmitted.

Then you launch intermediate range missiles from further back to destroy the electronics systems over the enemy land mass, with a larger Strategic level EMP weapon yield, whilst they are still blinded and knocked off balance by the intial Iskander salvo.

Ten minutes have passed.

Then the opponent is left wide open to be fully gutted with ICBM MIRVs with little if any remaining organised resistence.

They don't have to do anything but to change a warhead, and flick a few switches, and a bit of targeting, and they are there.

Able to achieve all that he stated.

And you can be 100% sure they did all that well before that speech went to air.

This warning is the real deal, and those missiles are the real thing.

This is not about fiat snowflakes melting in the spring sunlight, as that will happen anyway, this is about borders and regional strategic moves, i.e. REAL things that actually matter once the fiat-thaw is done and gone.

These may do both yet, as they can escalate this in many ways if the US and NATO are silly enough to fob this off, and use the MSM to ignore it by down-playing it.

If the Russians wanted to, and feel the need to make a very blunt emphatic point to get the west's full attention, they can easily and quickly launch a long-range conventional anti-ship strike or early warning radar attack, to make sure the MSM pays attention, and is then forced to 'splain what is happening, why air defences are on full alert, combat jest are flying over cities, and why Russia is so pissed off that it's actually waving several thousand nukes around, targeted at the West again.

The worst mistake the West can make now is ignore this message, or deliberately downplay it, as that may prompt a further escalation of this same message to the west.

And I have no doubt the US will order its Internet operatives to downplay this over the coming days and weeks, to quell any rising public alarm.

We'll soon see China's 2c worth as well.

It makes no difference when they also have long range rail-mobile and road-mobile ICBM systems and very quiet SSBNs, SSNs and SSK/G subs that can get in close to launch nuclear cruise missiles and nuclear torpedos, and lay nuclear sea mines, in, on and around every harbour in the US mainland. They can take down a SOSUS network at any time via other means, peice of cake, you're blinded, you won't see them coming, now what? Even if it takes three months, your screwed too.

This is a return to nuclear brinkmanship; putting mobile Iskander SS-21 Scarab tactical attack nukes near to borders on combat alert is a pretty clear indication, that we haven't seen for over 20 years. These are not regular theatre ballistic systems, these have an on-board nav system that can fly a vertical flight trajectory, or to any point in the sky within range.

These were designed specifically with tactical EMP barrages in mind as the opening salvo in a nuclear strike. The carefully-considered deliberate mentioning of these particular missile systems, being put on combat alert, is a shattering smash-you-in-the-face warning. It doesn't really get any more confronting. People in Pentagon and NATO back-rooms and bunkers will be running around with their hair on fire, same in political circles, trying to work out where they are, and where they moving to, and how to deal with this threat. They all know these systems are the first elements used in any full-scale nuclear attack, and that that the US/NATO has no realistic or effective means to defang, interdict these without triggering an actual nuclear exchange.

Russia just said, "I HAVE A GUN POINTED RIGHT NOW AT THE WEST'S HEAD,

And it's going to stay there until O'bammy picks up the red phone with the dust on it, and fully satisfies Russia there will be no more attack on Syria and Iran, and to get the fuck out of the middle East - NOW - or else.

It's going to be a real interesting conversation.

US SSBNs won't make a scrap of difference, they never did, the Russians know how this game is played and they just declared that they might just wade into the middle east conflict, again, in an indirect proxy role, to get the USSA/NATO alliance out of there ... and what do you think you are gonna do about it? huh? White Hut PUNK?

That's what is coming down the Red-Phone hotline today.

These contrived 'nuclear-fears' about Iran and rogue states are going to take a sudden back seat as this swerves toward a very real Russian nuclear heavy weight, that is very pissed off.

For your info.

In 1980s, Soviet felt threatened and put their "doomsday system" (DS) on autonomous combat alert:

·      Among hundreds early-warning stations, few dozens were part of DS

·      These stations were automatically & independently monitoring such parameters as

  •
    • Missiles launches
    • Seismic activities across USSR
    • Levels of radioactivity across USSR
    • Activities of Soviets mass media
    • Etc
  • This info was flowing into the DS central computer

If the DC computer concluded that USSR was under a nuclear attack then

·        The DS would be waiting for 10-15 minutes to receive a coded message to stop further activities

·        If such coded messages were not received then

o   5 two-staged missiles would be launched into a low Earth orbits

o   Each of this missiles would transmit codes to activates ALL Soviet land & sea strategic & tactical nuclear forces and automatically launch them against ALL potential enemies (including all NATO countries, China, Pakistan, Australia, Israel, etc.,)

o   At the pick, Soviets had ~45,000 nuclear devices

This doomsday system has been deactivated in early 1990s. However, this system can be moved back into an operational mode relatively quickly.

AHmeExNal:   RE: Russians not shutting off the GAS...

That this did not occur demonstrates that Russia NEEDS THE MONEY flow from its biggest customers.  Cutting off the gas will come later if the sabre-ratting doesn't work.  Also, this fits nicely with Putin's "Soviet-era" style ascendency - tough talk from the Kremlin.

Using the Libyan model of interference in Syria provides the US some cover for what would be an obvious tactical move for the US - which is to take Syria off the table as a forward-base for Iranian counter-attacks in case Israel or the US ala NATO decides to remove Iraninan nuclear capabilities.

Also, when things aren't going well at home, what better distraction for the nation than to accept austerity due to war and let the peace-prize-winning POTUS start another war.  We can then clamp down on US citizen dissent under the guise of "security" along with the social unrest he is already stoking/encouraging - which will only get worse as the global economic crisis unfolds.

Further, it has every opportunity of making 'carbon' less affordable with Iranian attempts to mess with the oil flow from the gulf; so this fits the stated environmental agenda of POTUS.

Lastly, this is good for bankers who want to finance war to make money.

Sorry, Vietnam was an all-out war with over 500,000 troops engaged at peak and more ordinance droped than in WW2 by all sides combined. It also outlasted ww2: 3 1/2 years versus 9 for the active combat part of Vietnam, 18 for the total engagement. Casualties were nearly as high as WW1

You seem to be reading some bizarre shit.  The bombs were to make money and build a military industrial complex and shadow government.  WW1 lasted a bit over a year for the US,  we didn't have bombers, tanks or all that many canons.  We had single shot rifles and a few machine guns.  Have you ever read the order of battle?

But to say all out war is fought against a country without,  an army, a navy, an airforce or shoes,  is ridiculous even by henry kissourassingers or eagleburgerfarts.  You must be very, very young.  Please,  help yourself to an education.

Not young dude. Look up the figures for casualties. I'm not debating if ww2 was the costliest. But Vetnam was all-out war in terms of troops, cost, time, casualties and even morale. Even though the opponents never even had a real air force. Guerilla tactics triumphed over the most advanced armed forces in the world. I agree with you about the motives behind the war, even ones you never mentioned: global heroin trade, for instance. The oil companies made out better than everyone else by inventing the Napalm bomb, which I refer to as the "Oil Bomb" . It's main purpose was to burn oil so more needed to be procured by the US Armed Services at inflated costs. And BTW, we did have tanks in ww1. That was one of the key advnaces that the US brought which was able to mobilize a war that was bogged in the trenches. It was a game changer. Read military history

No, Vietnam was not all out war.  Restrictive ROE, restricted weapons systems, a consideration for civilian casualties and a need to appear to be the 'good guys' kept the US from doing everything to win.

"No, Vietnam was not all out war. Restrictive ROE, restricted weapons systems, a consideration for civilian casualties and a need to appear to be the 'good guys' kept the US from doing everything to win. "

..................................

You have no fucking idea what you are talking about. I was there... Were you?

First... More tonnage of US bombs were dropped on S Viet Nam than N Viet Nam.

Second... Civilian casualties were not a consideration, either by the various governments of S Viet Nam or the US Military.

Third... Every weapons system, except Nukes, was employed in Viet Nam. Nukes were not used for the same reason that anti-shipping mines were not deployed in Hanoi Harbor... the Chinese would have retaliated with nukes...Or, the Chinese could have deployed a several million man army through S Viet Nam and pushed the American and S Vietnamese armies into the seas.

Fourth... You are simply one more revisionist historian that cannot come to grips with the fact that the US got the shit kicked out of it in Viet Nam, as did a pretty good French military before it. You have been watching Waaaay Tooo much Viet Nam combat footage on tv. The facts are the facts. Many, many Viet Namese villages were 'destroyed in order to save them'. Hundreds of thousands of S Vietnamese were forced from their villages into barbed wire 'internment camps'. That fucking moron Macnamara and his idiot chief of staff finally used their $5 calculators to figure out that the population of N Viet Nam was multiplying faster than the US could kill them.

Besides, the whole damn 'war' was nothing but a gift to military contractors.

I could continue but talking to people like you brings back too many bad memories. You need a real education kid... Try reading some real history and stay away from 'the war channel' on the tv.

2) I do believe that Russia has essentially seen the latest U.S. gestures and positioning towards Syria & Iran as the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back" in terms of intolerable (in their view) encroachment on their national security and geopolitical interests, and not only called the bet but raised it as well. To be honest, if one views this from a Russian vantage point, who can objectively blame them for their suddenly far more defensive attitude (which is apparently leading to more offensive maneuvering), given that they've seen more territory near their shores fall under the control of U.S influence or control in the last 10 years than did in the prior 40 years (Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, certain former Soviet satellite states).

Hopefully, we have enough security analysts with large persuasive powers to press this point home hard with those who risk the launching of wars while not having to fight them.

Western reactions

In response to Medvedev's statement, Captain John Kirby, a US Pentagon spokesman, said: "I do think it's worth reiterating that the European missile defence system that we've been working very hard on with our allies and with Russia over the last few years is not aimed at Russia."

"It is ... designed to help deter and defeat the ballistic missile threat to Europe and to our allies from Iran."

Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the NATO secretary-general, said he was "very disappointed" with Russia's threat to deploy missiles.

He said that "would be reminiscent of the past and ... inconsistent with the strategic relations NATO and Russia have agreed they seek".

"Co-operation, not confrontation, is the way ahead," Rasmussen said in a statement.

Russia has agreed to consider a proposal NATO made last autumn to co-operate on the missile shield, but the talks have been deadlocked over how the system should be operated.

Russia has insisted that it should be run jointly, which NATO has rejected.

Medvedev also said that Moscow may opt out of the New START arms control deal with the US and halt other arms control talks, if the US proceeds with the missile shield without meeting Russia's demand.

The Americans had hoped that the START treaty would stimulate progress in further ambitious arms control efforts, but such talks have stalled because of tension over the missile plan.
