A set from I Am Legend, or a picture from a Queens supermarket taken minutes ago. You decide.

Is there some rule that a NYC pol can't have a press confernence without a posse behind them?
In VA Beach, the storm has turned into weak sauce. I guess this is sort of like the fake alien invasion Krugman was talking about last week.
Fox news has some idiot correspondent in the middle of the storm on Hatteras right now, I need to get some popcorn.
This storm might pleasantly surprise us with entertainment.
----still hope not too many people get hurt.
This has been a test.

Slap, rack and roll bitchez!!!
Release the zombies on my command.
PULL!
The best way to survive a hurricane strike in NY is to GTF out of NY. On second thought, the best way to survive period is to GTF out of NY. I wouldn't live in that paved-over shithole if you gave me Trumps penthouse, his wife, and bank account. OK, I might stay a day if you threw in his daughter. The MSM is really struggling to find some new material, guess the fact the whole country's going to hell isn't newsworthy enough. We have to put up with Bernanke and the elected Teleprompter's appearances almost weekly and their spew is just that, spew.
iPad become edible in 3,2,...1
Load image of sandbag onto iPad and point it at storm surgeif that doesn't work, download app for Flotation Device
If I see one more talking head stating the obvious I swear I'm gonna snap. This is no more than a noreaster. Cue soundtrack to 'man in the box' (alice in chains)
people have become very compliant - are they so afraid they might miss a meal
what is the deal with all the mandatory evacs in the nyc/nj area - this is unusual, it is not the 1st hurricane to hit the area and is likely to be only tropical storm when it does. i feel like govenment of all levels is becoming more controlling
Remind me to NEVER buy the stuff not sold on the shelves in that picture.
People are too girly, evacution on that weak wind? There must be some other motivations.
That's pretty much what the crocery stores look like in NC when they predict snow -- any amount of snow. They're not used to it so they freak. Avoid the crowds, panic early.
in South Florida.. the shelves of Major Grocery Stores OFTEN get striped of EVERYTHING Pre-Hurricane.
in the even that the stores are empty.. I can live on Fresh Fish, Fresh Crabs and Fresh Lobster.. just to name a few..
Lake Okeechobee area has a 12 month grow season with a LOT of fresh vegtables.
Lake Okeechobee as well has its own fresh fish supply.
in the bahamas.. fresh, clean drinking water is the issue but everyone in the islands has a garden and always has had a garden.. to add to that idea they have always had rain catchers of a significant size for thier gardens.
on the down side.. you have a million idiots from New Yrok here who drove on ice and snow for 40 years.. but when it sprinkles rain here.. think sun shower.. they all lock up thier brakes and cause a chain reaction car accident 20 miles long. As well they can NOT feed themselves.. and they have NO Work ethic when it comes to gardening 12 months a year.

Threat of natural disasters increases GDP figures. Americans have done more shopping this weekend than they've done all year.
Fear the herd. Profit. Is their unending satanic ritual.
These empty store shelves are a message from God:
"This is what stores would look like all the time without Bernanke's QE program. Why do I bother with you at all? Meh"
quite a perfect storm indeed. earthquakes, monster hurricanes, financial implosion, incipient anarchy in the streets race wars and martial law around the corner. and an indifferent apathetic and dumbed down populace mesmerized and glued to their TV and Computer screens. enjoy the show while you can. you can ignore reality but you can't ignore the results of ignoring reality. good luck my fellow shAmericans. glad you're all enjoying the show. waking up from the American dream is going to be one long waking nightmare. we're in for one nationwide 24/7 reality horror show.
don't forget bedbugs
My back of the envelope calc....
3 hurricanes = 1 round of QE
Bernanke is fuckin loving this. A few more Irenes and Q3 GDP might be positive.
I'm a resident of Queens and it's ridiculous. Saw a single dude in my building with 2 cases of bottled water this morning? One person needs 50 fuckin bottles of water? Really?
Why would what he buys with his own money be any of your business, Grasshopper boy?
This pic is not from the Hurricane preppers.........it's a scene from the Flash mobs, emptying out stores for free, with no Police recourse.
Coming soon to a 7-11 near you,or a Sears, a Macy's, a Dillards, etc,etc,etc.
Some call it Anarchy...............................Dey be rite.
Read an Article by Slick Willie, his thoughts were that the reason for the Gold fast bounce was QE 3 is already a given, and the (EVEN, the sheeples) is getting it.
And, he did not see anything slowing this train down, no recourse,no refunds, no do overs, it's Miller Time!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish more of his stuff was here, he breaks it down very well.
What I want to know is why didn't any of the Global Warming nuts predict this storm in advance? They have computer models that can predict the weather 100 years from now so what is so tough about predicting one storm a month ahead?
O wait I think I know.
Wow... that is deep and penetrating.... you are a misguided fool.
You are right. I am misguided and I am a fool. Not quite fool enough to listen to Al Gore though.
And I still want to know where to apply for my oil company check. Guess I should ask Phil Jones, he can get me the address off his old grant applications.
Algore went insane when he lost the presidency by so few votes.
The rest is just ravings of a madman in support of anti-American aristocractic, lying fucktards.
Death to the aristocracy!
Yes but he came closer than anybody in history.
Recently he confessed that he knew gasohol was a bad idea when he was promoting it but he wanted the farm vote and he didn't care how he got it.
Just think, if he could have saddled the American taxpayer with a few more multi billion dollar boondoggles he might have won.
Instead we got two verified multi-trillion boondoogles.... Iraq and TARP...
6 of one, half dozen of the other...

Idiocy in stereophonic sound...
Do you want to convince me or do you want to silence me?
If you wanted to convince me you would answer my question with facts. So it must be the other.
If you want the laughter to stop, you will have to do better than this. The old oh so superior, ivory tower sarcasm doesn't work anymore. Try screaming and hand waving.
Well, I'm sorry, I thought you were aware that modelling general aspects of the climate were not the same as Hurricane prediction. FWIW, the Hurricane models were pretty good at predicting where Irene would be heading when the system became organized enough to actually model.
Modelling the variation in intensity is not easy, you need very good inputs, e.g. wind shear as function of altitude, iso-bars, sea temps... Even then there is a chaotic component. Will the eye-wall reform? You can only assign a probability to such things.
Again, the sites that I follow for hurricane info had Irene as a weak to moderate Cat 1 for NY when it was over the Bahamas. Looks like we are lucky in that it is weakening a bit faster. Wind shear has incread as it has moved north.
The issues are that it is a large storm that is likely to hit at high tide after we have already had 10" or so of rain in NYC area. The ground is saturated. Hell, some of the golf courses here were in rough shape because of all the rain before Irene.
Not much of a storm. Great boost to the "economy" though. At the expense of family fortunes, but what the hell, something's gotta get the product moving and put more money in the hands of capitalists everywhere.
chris martenson ftw!!
They took everything but the leftover from Easter Marshmallow Peeps. Fools. Those things last forever.
