Six Variations On A Theme By Printerini

Tyler Durden's picture

A prevalent theme over the past 3 months has been the emergence of the Schrödinger world, where on one hand we have a world as it is, and on the other, as central planners, propaganda media, and a president caught up in a reelection campaign would want it to be. Luckily, that world only had a binary bifurcation associated to it - and a simple observation of the mythical collapsed its wave function in less time than it would take BATS to commit corporate suicide.  A much more fun world emerges when one enters the superstring reality of the Federal Reserve, and especially its chairman, where there are not two, not three, but a whopping six dimensions of (mis)perception, all dependent on one's point of view. Courtesy of Silver Circle we present them all.

Francisco d’Anconia, one of the central characters in the novel Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, explains the following in his famous “money speech”:

Whenever destroyers appear among men, they start by destroying money, for money is men’s protection and the base of a moral existence. Destroyers seize gold and leave its owners a counterfeit pile of paper. This kills all objective standards and delivers men into the arbitrary power of an arbitrary setter of values… Paper is a mortgage on wealth that does not exist, backed by a gun aimed at those who are expected to produce it. Paper is a check drawn by legal looters upon an account which is not theirs: upon the virtue of the victims…”

This is a really fantastic lecture presented by Tom Woods, Jr.   It really gets good starting @ about the 14:00 minute mark.

In March 2012, Woods coined another law:

Every popular-level "why we can't return to gold" article repeats long-exploded fallacies, presenting them as fresh insights that stupid people refuse to understand.[25]

Beware Gold!

Is there anything in this article that isn’t false, a fallacy, or confusion?

You have to love how fiscal and monetary stimuli are presented as indisputably Good Things; since a gold standard would inhibit the government’s ability to do those things, gold is a Bad Thing.

And gold is subject to fluctuations, says the writer, apparently never having seen charts of purchasing power through 1971. (Usually these writers are talking about gold in a fiat-money economy, when its “fluctuations” are actually fluctuations of the fiat money. Gold as money, when it exchanges in all markets, is in fact extremely stable. That’s why society spontaneously chose it as money — a decision subsequently codified, but not originated, by governments.)

Yes, it is amazing the castles in the air that can be built with paper money and deceitful manipulation of all economic data.  And Madame Bernanke de Pompadour will do anything to keep King Louis XV Obama happy, including flooding markets with unlimited amounts of printed money. They both know that, in their holy alliance, they are committing a cardinal sin. But clinging to power is more important than the good of the country.  An economic and social disaster is imminent for the US and a major part of the world and Bernanke de Pompadour and Louis XV Obama are praying that it won’t happen during their reign: “Après nous le déluge”.

as a central banker - you've got to be a really sick fuck to think the stock market means anything about anything!  It's pure speculation -- of course, Boomers are obsessed with "the market" because they've made out like bandits -- the portfolio's bulging 4 times the size that any of them deserve by sheer demographic luck.

And, Bernanke must be a boomer of course.  Obsessing about the stock market - we should just kill all the Boomers!

Bernanke probably believes it's every Boomers God given right to cash out their portfolio near nominally high prices.  Bernanke is a sick fuck!

Ben is entering the twilight zone of monetary policy.

Every piece of recent economic data just confirms the deepest fear, the nightmare scenario: it's biflation. The monster neither Ben nor any central banker can control.

Lately, for Ben, every night when he goes to sleep the dream is always the same: In the dream he wakes up to a pale dawn and finds prices of necessities rising, while wages jobs and household net worth keep dropping. Worse, the real economy moves further and further offshore along with the jobs and economic opportunities.

He wakes up every morning in a cold sweat screaming.....
