Step Aside #OccupyWallStreet; Here Comes #TheOccupationParty

Tyler Durden's picture

Well, their list of demands may be slow in coming, but when it comes to organizing a block party for the "Awake and Inspired", it took less than a month...

To The Awake & Inspired,

This Saturday at 5pm we take:
Times Square

...with music, performance and a message that the people of this country - not the banks, not the corporations - hold the true power.

It's a rare moment that a grass roots protest movement takes over the national conversation. From the Occupation of Wall St., a thrilling national movement has emerged.

This Saturday, October 15th, hundreds of cities across the country will host demonstrations in support of the #Occupy movement. In New York City, dozens of community groups, unions, student organizations and lots and lots of regular folk are taking to the streets in a mass protest that will culminate in Times Square at 5pm, then moving (by train party!) downtown.

You are invited to be a part of it. Come join the Occupation Party and participate in a stunning moment expressing hope and a new vision for the future - and showing our solidarity with the people who have already been occupying Wall Street for weeks.

Meet at the TKTS kiosk in the north section. From our street carnival in Times Sq. we will take the protest party to the trains and head downtown.

Together we are the tipping point.

More on this latest metamorphosis in the amorphous entity that is #OWS read here.

is it really co-opting? or is just that they are showing us who they really are now that they are on a roll?  The latter, I think.

until you un-glue your fat ass from that chair and go sit and talk with the little idiots organizing.. and see firsthand all the different groups choosing to stand in the same space so that the Government will take notice.. until you see firsthand there is NO! one message and the 100 different little groups (division / divide and conquer made easy) that are the group of people as a whole.. you will never understand..

watching the world go by, being glued to your TV set is not helping you.. at all. WAKE UP! and get out!

The Fact that they are Bad and the Koch Brother Hi-Jacked Tea Party is GOOD!

Speaks to your ability to comprehend far more than my telling you to get out of the house, once in a while!

I support their right to protest and to freedom of speech, but I don't support their movement. I will re-assert that their goals, while similar in nature, are NOT the same as the Tea-Party's. They are for total destruction of capitalism. They want to replace it with Socialism. The TP is for abrogating fraud in the (crony) capitalist system that infested our country. We want a return to a more true form of Capitalism, smaller government,  as well as a return to a nation of laws, not of men.

These losers on wallstreet don't have a fucking clue and anyone who thinks they are for reformation is a fool. They would sooner beat you bloody with your own arm than let you speak your mind against them. It's their way or the highway.  I say "BRING IT", mother fuckers.. start the war.

1st off the Occupy Palm Beach Movement is run by a bunch of kids (save 1 adult).

2nd, they are not for the destruction of America.

3rd, they have a MILLION different ideas.. none of which fix the problem that is systemic corruption through out Wall Street and back down to Washington DC.

there is no 4.. they are kids who want fair treatment of everyone and the world to be one big happy family.

so? the occupy movement being a dumbocrat movement is inaccurate (or at least in what I have personally seen with my own two eyes) regardless of what the Corporate owned News media regurgitates all over people in heavy rotation until it sinks in.

All capitalism is crony capitalism.  The entire history of capitalism is stolen land, stolen resources, and stolen labor.  The "free-market capitalism" schtick is to convince folks that the product of massive theft is actually freedom.  Don't be fooled, there never was a "true" capitalism and there never will be.

Smells like leftist re-fried beans...."hope and new vision" this time, no apparent concerns about jobs and no mention that the government is part of the problem either.

But hey they have a cartoon of a black person on the poster so I guess this "movement" isn't really a bunch of dirty white hippies, loafers and gender studies majors after all.

Pretty vacant.

Major, MAJOR FAIL.

What is this besides an excuse for idle, disillusioned 2007-2008 Obama For President campaigners to parade around and not pay their bills?

When the people who astroturfed this nonsense are union bosses taking down $500K a year, elitist oligarchs like Soros who want nothing but control, etc., then this "movement" is irrelevant and just plain stupid.

Go out and produce something, you vile, smelly vagrants.

why do i have a sneaking suspicion that the organizer's of these movements desire to take back the "power" from banks, corporations, etc really just want to place the power in the hands of a central government.  it's really just a desire to take it from one place and put it in another that the organizer will now control.  why is it assumed a politician will be a wise, noble, just, holder of power?  they ain't.  pretty neat, but i'm not falling for it. exxon mobil can't crush me, but an all-powerful central government can.  and why is it greedy if I want to retain power but not you being greedy if you want to take it from me?  too effin funny.

  • Black Caesar

She got dat militant sista look all up about her n shit. Whit dat head turned up looking all confident n shit.

She look to be sayin.... Dis be OUR time and aint no CRACKER gonna take it from us never agan.

Someone gonna get hurt, sho nuff.

Naaah, this poster is not intended for the rich white boys and girls running around the park with their North Face pullovers and J Crew sweaters..

This poster is intended for the black people. This symbology can only have been chosen to communicate militancy.

I think I will go out for another case of HydroShock.

Has anyone seen this about the connection between the owners of Zucotti Park and a $168 Million dollar loan for wind farms from the Department of Energy? Also Bloomberg's girlfriend is on the board of the company that owns the park. I would think Tyler would have seen this already and posted it so maybe this info is suspect. I don't know if this is true or not for sure.

Well I feel a little sorry for the sorry protesters. They did get scammed on the whole college thing. Excerpt from the IowaHawk on graduating college.

http://iowahawk.typepad.com/iowahawk/page/5/

Yes, some of you may have invested your cash in pursuing mercenary "professional" degrees, like engineering and nursing and accounting, with their tedious emphasis on "right" answers and "employment." Some of those graduates aren't even here, because they'd rather be working at their new jobs than joining us in this celebration of the life of the mind. Happily though, the majority of you came to this university to learn how to think, not what to think. You learned how to speak truth to power, and how to question authority. If you were hungover for the big Questioning Authority midterm, you learned how to plead the TA for an extra-credit paper, topic of his choosing, and how he wanted it worded. You learned how everything can be deconstructed and critiqued, with the exception of Deconstruction and Critical Theory.

Armed with all those deconstructing and questioning and critical thinking skills, the world is finally your oyster, if not your employer. Don't be shy! Try them out around the house. When Mom stops doing your laundry in disgust, or Dad snaps at you to mow the lawn and "start pulling your weight around this place for chrissakes," remember to point out their false consciousness and societally proscribed gender roles. If they continue to oppress you, remind them you are the owner of this - a genuine college diploma.

sorry but I had to laugh at grass roots movement.

I saw another ad willing to pay me $500 if I joined "the movement".

An out of work college student can make more money as a profesional protestor than working at a shopping mall. If you want to protest the nuke plant on Lake Erie you can make $500 a week.

Ahh lefties always willing to pay people to make the crowd look bigger. So why are you here, Well like the corporations man, cause you know they rob us and such, make it so I can't get a job. No why are you really here, well some dude gave me $100 if I went to this protest. Those are pretty nice shoes for a guy with no job. Yeah my dad works for Citibank and he gave me a credit card to buy anything I want, but the banks suck.

Good article about OWS, and reasons for being angry. The last section of the article gives the details of the rigged scheme to give free money to banks. First six months of the year banks have earned $221 BILLION by borrowing a quarter of 1% and then buying Treasuries at over 3 percent. Earning free money! Wonder how many  jobs could be created with that kind of money. Fuck the bankers, hope they love their bonus this year cause it is coming to an end
