Steve Jobs Has Passed Away (1955-2011)
Steve Jobs has passed away, according to Apple. May the greatest one man success story of our times rest in peace.

Statement by the Apple board:
We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today.
Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.
His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.
And from his family:
Steve died peacefully today surrounded by his family.
In his public life, Steve was known as a visionary; in his private life, he cherished his family. We are thankful to the many people who have shared their wishes and prayers during the last year of Steve's illness; a website will be provided for those who wish to offer tributes and memories.
We are grateful for the support and kindness of those who share our feelings for Steve. We know many of you will mourn with us, and we ask that you respect our privacy during our time of grief.
To capture the visionary genius of the man, and truly the legend, we repost probably the most comprehensive interview that Jobs ever conducted, this one with Playboy magazine from 1985

Rest in Peace. My condolences to his family.
You got it Tyler. "greatest one man success story of our time".
RIP Steve.

RIP, what a shame to lose a great man at such an early age.
Everyone is sad. Be healthy folks. Nothing is more important than your own health.
oh shut the hell up
okay...ebola for you.
Zero hedge indeed. :(
shit.
rip jobsy.
Its true the good die young. His spirit should be above us now (he is Buddhist). I am sure he won't rest in peace(its not his nature or religion).
He is Steve Jobs restless waiting to reincarnate and will be back on planet earth for iphone10. He'll be back!
+10. Nice to read.
May I traverse all my lives in the world,
Free of karma, afflictions and interfering forces,
Just as the lotus blossom is undisturbed by the water’s wave,
Just as the sun and moon move unhindered through the sky.

My brother-in-law was a DM for Apple and said he was a pretty decent guy. Exceptionally knowledable and very forward thinking.
Condolences to his family.
Difficult to believe. And heartbreaking.
I really like the large photo that ZEROHEDGE posted. A larger-than-life photo for a larger-than-life wonderful person.
You can have one here

Not on iTunes yet.
Travel well Stevie...Love him or hate him the man left more than a ripple..
created more wealth than any man ever; for himself, his employees and his shareholders
viva capitalism. viva liberty
but not the poor chinese serf who labored in hell apple factories and comitted suicide to escape the Jobs brand of torture...RIP chinese heroes!!!!
RIP Steve!
A great man who accomplished remarkable things in his short life (except an iPhone 5...) but he was also quite controversial by not disclosing his medical condition and setting up sweatshops in China.
Unlike Bill phukin Gates, Steve actually thought things up. Not take Front money from IBM to buy the software from his college buddy (DOS) without him knowing.
Gates either subverted, boughtout, intimidated or monopolized(he naturally fit in with the globalists, right warren?)
Rest in peace Steve
Palo Alto Resource Center. Oh wait, that was different.
Seems the RDF is still strong despite the death of Stevie.
You get a C++
An Objective C.
RIP
RIP SJ MAC APPL or is it actually (Hal)
A man of astounding vision and a creative genius embodying all that once made America great. He will be sorely missed. RIP dear Steve.
Imsorry to hear this.
Go easy Steve. R.i.P.

A true innovator died today.
RIP Steve Jobs.
call dibs on his billions
iSad
Enough good things just cannot be said about this man.
One of the ones who challenged the status quo in the absolute toughest industries, and won bigger than big.
Apple was a niche market for a couple of decades, but kept on keepin on, and look what happened.
Sad day indeed. RIP Steve, you will be missed by so so many.
so it goes...
Quick everyone, buy an iPad.
Thanks for showing the way, Steve.
The next step is ours.
RIP
RIP
If we all want an encore from Steve what would it be? Now that he has left planet earth and entered the spirit world and awaits reincarnation on some unknown universe in our multiverse, the ultimate encore and innovation would be a phonecall from Steve in the year 2100 from the some distant universe faraway. That will be the iUniversecommunicator 1.0 ! I am sure planet earth will hear from Steve again!
really sad. what a great man.
R.I.P. Steve
An amazing human and one that will be missed.
Fuck Reggie may finally get his correction in Apple he has been calling for for the last 2 years.
If a man of Steve Jobs wealth and vision dies of cancer then you know their is not a cure.
I wonder if Reggie Middleton will send out a missive on how he predicted this as well?
RIP Mr. Jobs.
Tis the end for AAPL as well. SJ was not only the mind but the heart of that once great company. iPhone 5 will be an epic fail. RIP.
I don't have a cell phone so I don't care, BUT, he may have left one or two goodies behind to be unveiled after his death. Tell me a showman would NOT think of that.
Thanks Steve - for all of the amazingly great iToys and for demonstrating courage and leadership.
Attention ladies and gentlemen - Steve Jobs has left the infinite loop.
The World lost a asset today R.I.P
You showed us all what the American Dream really is
so what if he was right
HERO... when too few exist. An inspiration.
RIP
The world of technology innovation has lost a Giant.
For anyone interested here is some rare, candid interview footage of Jobs from the mid-1990s, no long before he pulled off the magnificent Apple comeback:
http://www.polycapitalist.com/2011/08/video-end-of-tech-era-steve-jobs.html
Typing this in the middle of nowhere in, well, an iPhone. Thank you Sir. R.I.P.
Jobs are dead ?
An iCon of his time.
A straight-up capitalist badass. He earned every penny. I'm quite saddened about this--what a loss.
iShort!!!
One and only ceo you just had to respect. Great work. Job well done Steve. Rest in Peace ... you will be missed.
Seems to me he did it the way he wanted to do it, right up to the end.
Damned fine way to do anything, if you ask me. Don't care who you are.
Steve, you rocked and the world rocked right along with you. See you on the other side.
An innovator. An American original. May this country again become the best place on earth for such great men. RIP Steve, you will never be forgotten. God bless you your family and the freedom loving country which allowed you to so completely realize your potential.
Well I'll tell ya:
He jumped the fucking queue for a liver when my wife was on that list. It's a long list. The sonofabitch. She died several years ago from liver failure. Fucking bad way to go. Fucking bad.
Now tell me if I'm sad for him.
(clue: not in the goddamn least.)
He'll end up in hell if there is one, and deserves it.
Junk me if you can't handle the truth.
+1 although, I have to admit, if I were that well off Id take advantage of it as well.
I suppose few have any idea what fairness is anymore.....and that is a sad statement to be sure.
Agree. the number of virtual handJobs going around here makes me a little queasy. Idol worship at it's best.
Who told you life was fair?
dupe
2009. It is possible, David Crosby did the same thing. No the rules do not apply equally.
Yes, life is not fair.
Some are more "equal" than others.
It's a nationwide system, I could have had that liver meet her anywhere in the continential US in under three hours. It's called fractional ownership. NetJet is the current incarnation.
You do not know what you are writing of. I do.
David Van Cortlandt Crosby??
http://www.davesweb.cnchost.com/nwsltr93.html
yup. now it gets interesting what? Did you know that uber-NSA boss Mike Aquino wrote a whole anti-LOTR with Sauron and bosses as the 'good guys'? ...and that all those milk carton photos were just trophy braggin by the pedophile usurpers of your Constitution? Right in your face America!
http://www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/hardtruth/satanic_subversion.htm
Laurel Canyon Snitchez! when you gonna wake up n say no more?
I am sorry you wife passed several years ago from liver failure.
Steve jobs got his liver 2 years ago.
He didn't jump the queue. That is impossible. He definately played geographic organ transplant arbitrage. That game is available to all people (granted easier for the wealthy to play but life ain't fair). Where some organ transplant lines are shorter in different regions of the country. However the rules about who qualifies for the organ, who gets the organ apply to all equally.
You are spot on Lizzy. Money does not always get you to the front of the gate. When Mickey Mantle or whoever the baseball alcoholic was that got the liver a decade ago it was all assumed that his fame and glory made it happen.
Truth is, there are organ murderers. It's horrendously cruel but true. Take the kidneys, the liver, eyes, etc. and sell them on the black market. Now that is a travesty that good stem cell research (were it not for Bush and the phucknut religous right stopped progress on for years) might have changed. We will never know until we can grow our own organ replacements.
But that is not what this post is about. It is about Steve. And he wasn't going to make it because his problems stemmed from the pancreas. The cancer for the liver had to be near the portal (I know a great deal about this) but not on it. So that means it was just spreading througout hs body.
We lost one incredible visionary today. He will go down with Edison and Einstein in the advancement of technology and communications. I may even go out and buy an Ipad since it would really come in handy.
Howard, it's nice when the adults come here to visit.
I'm very sorry about your wife. But you know when death is staring you in the face, who knows what a person might do?
I would tend to blame the medical profession for the shortage of transplantable organs. There is no incentive for anyone to donate. And people kind of wonder if they were dying on the operating table and the doctor knew they were an organ donor, whether he might be just a little less likely to do every possible thing in order to save them.
Perhaps if doctors modified their system so that people who had previously registered as organ donors for a long time were given preference over non-organ donors when allocating organs for transplant, it might give more people an incentive to register as organ donors.
Jobs was one of the few true capitalists left in this country.
Heart breaking. Sad face. RIP Steve Jobs.
... meanwhile, in other news, millions of people are going to suffer because they bought every iteration of the iPhone/iPad and gimmicky apps, instead of paying attention to the things that really matter happening in the world right now and bought gold/silver and stocks of food stuffs to protect themselves.
Ahmadinejad is eagerly awaiting your arrival you waste of cum
Lol, WE as in America, grows our own food, and much of the worlds. No one dies in America of starvation, in fact we are a nation of fat bastards, even the so called 'poor' - who are actually rich beyond the dreams of much of the world - are fat. Second, gold/silver???? OH you mean the stable currency that has gone from 1900 to 1600 in a month. Yeah, ok. While you can't eat an Ipad, you can not eat gold either, and if you think your going to trade it for food in the apocolypse, your dead fucking wrong buddy because there is NO APOCOLYPSE coming gold freak!
Google up a picture of a guy huffing gold paint. Thats what you hoarders remind me of.
And millions could use it to read ZH. You had a point?
Sadness.
The world will never forget SJ. Amazing legacy.
RIP
Jobs was one of the great visionaries of our time. Much the opposite of Gates. Rest in peace Steve--you will be missed.
What a great guy. He's probably back in a garage somewhere, with things that glow in the dark....making magic for the world....
May peace be with all of his family and friends.
A generation will carry him into eternity
Condolences to the Jobs family. To the busom of Adam we go until Jesus brings us forward.
A brilliant man, died way too early. God bless you Steve Jobs.
A truly great human being.
Like JFK who had his weaknesses as a human being, Steve Jobs rose to the occasion when he needed to, not once, not twice, but at least three times.
In my ibook, he is one of the 9 Great Heroes of our times. And now he is going back home.
Here's to Mr. Jobs and all you future Jobs out there . . .
http://www.rense.com/Steve%20Jobs.pdf
Nasdaq e-minis don't look particularly excited about the news
And again, we here have our differences, we have our opinions, and we disagree and argue. But so many times we act as one. We are very much alike even though we are in different towns, states and countries.
Zero Hedge has brought many of us together, we do not know each other, but yet, we do know each other. This site is important to us and has become part of our daily routine.
The posts here today prove that.
Thank you Steve for all you have done and Thank you Zero Hedge.
I remember back in the early 1980's when my best friend got an Apple IIe. We spent hours and hours playing games, experimenting with graphics, learning to program, and talking about the latest developments in the computer industry. Even back then, Steve Jobs was already a legend, having started the comany in his garage and having moved so rapidly onto the cutting edge of an exciting field. He managed to stay at the cutting edge for decades, and overcame some serious setbacks. While not perfect, as none of us are, his life certainly represents one notable accomplishment after another. We will miss him.
Just yesterday I thought to myself, what is Steve Jobs medical condition and is he enjoying the latest Apple iPhone press release (most of you know, I'm not a Apple Fanboy).
He was an icon that the world will never forget. My condolences to his family and friends who supported his technology and cutting edge visions. You will never be forgotten Mr. Steve Jobs.
RIP my friend..
Shame. Godbless.
Why couldn't it have been a banker?
Jobs was nothing but a fucking nigger.
You know where that word originates from yes? Latin word for black is niger (adj) such as the Niger River. The slaves in the field didn't know latin and tried to pronounce the latin word...thus 'nigger'. So you equated yourself with an uneducated slave. Brilliant.
And by responding, you equated yourself with me. Brilliant.
LOL!..what ever floats your boat.
There is also an alternative origination from the word "negus" which was the Ethiopian formal title of the king.
Maybe relates to "my nigga" !!
:)
Jobs was nothing but a fucking nigger.
That comment is nothing but another of the numberless turds floating in the cesspit of your mind.
Uncalled for pal83.
So the junk, a real live bank cretin in our midst.
Have you no self respect? No decency? Show your face parasite...
Oh yeh, & fcku
another job lost
must be the recession..
You can go to the apple home page and send a message if you like. It is set up now.
sad :(
I don't know if this is 100% accurate or not but it was sent to me and piqued my interest so I'm just sharing it. The info was orginially leaked by wikileaks.

RIP Steve
Life goes on and the question that CNBC might ask is, How do you make money on this news?
Brilliant American and icon for innovation.
See you on iCloud
That was great Sqworl...+10
RIP Mr. Jobs, thanks for all the (cool) stuff.
Great ideas guy. Great business person. Truly amazing what Steve Jobs accomplished in his lifetime.
Dear Steve Jobs,
Thank you for helping keep the ponzi scheme going for an extra 30 years. Without you, we wouldnt have had a reason to max out our credit cards, or further the gap in the trade deficit. You were a true American and Patriot. Could have never gone off the gold standard without you!
My condolences !
Sadly, with all his money and power, Jobs failed to prolong his life for one more day......... What a clairvoyant or prescience view derived from the passing of Jobs..... That what can't be saved will not be saved, no matter how powerful one is......One can delay the inevitable, but can never eschew it. Now, chew on it and you know, in a time horizon long enough.......You got exactly zero.
WOW Nice post...Hit me in the gut...As a great one goes,, so goes America..
May we all find our way in these insane times...
It's a sad day. I would say my life is better because of what he gave to the world. RIP, Steve.
Now, I think MarketWatch needs to pay more respect to the great man!
MarketWatch posted the link to what it calls • Jobs speaks at Stanford(YouTube). If you click, you'll end up visiting the Chinese government's statistics burearu Website (http://www.stats.gov.cn/tjdt/zygg/tztg/t20110111_402697558.htm)) What the F???
Why do the best have to go so early, should have been some greedy congress fucker!
RIP
(thanks for all my gadgets Steve)
..
So sad that someone who really deserves his wealth passes away so young yet the likes of Soros, Buffet, Rockerfeller, Rothschilds, and that ugly fucking bitch from Spain are still with us sucking the lifeblood out of the world economy.
well put, I was thinking the same about Jamie Demon and Lloyd Ahole and Blythe the Bitch
Maybe his passing will bring about a movement that says ....Enough is Enough....Take back this fucking insane asylem...For us and our kids.
The DOORS.. strange days!!!Wall Street takover could be the spark that fucks these bastards..
In Tibet the day of death is thought of as highly important. It is believed that as soon as the death of the body has taken place, the personality goes into a state of trance for four days. During this time the person does not know they are dead. This period is called the First Bardo and during it Lamas (monks) saying special verses can reach the dead person.
It is believed that towards the end of this time the dead person will see a brilliant light. If the radiance of the Clear Light does not terrify them, and they can welcome it, then the person will not be reborn. But most flee from the Light, which then fades.
The person then becomes conscious that death has occurred. At this point the Second Bardo begins. The person sees all that they have ever done or thought passing in front of them. While they watch they feel they have a body but when they realize this is not so, they long to possess one again. Then comes the Third Bardo, which is the state of seeking another birth. All previous thoughts and actions direct the person to choose new parents, who will give them their next body.
If he flees from the light he will return in 49 days...but knowing Steve's exacting standards, I don't think he's coming back...
well, part of the "second bardo" contemplation includes sorrow & compassion for those wronged/used - this can lead to the desire to "make amends" and is part of the desire to incarnate again, the righting of wrongs. . .
not my path, but I'm aware of it. Mr. Jobs had the usual human foibles, and perhaps the human regrets towards his end. no one knows but him.
Good luck getting past karmic illusion. I know I won't.
"Our Buddha-nature is there from the very beginning.
It is like the sun emerging from behind clouds.
It is like a mirror that reflects perfectly when it is wiped clean...
...and returned to its original clarity."

Very sad. He was an innovator and visionary
I read on anoher site that his final will stated that he be buried in a glossy white coffin with no visible hinges or latches.
He is Buddhist, he will be cremated in open air so his soul can move on and reincarnate.
sky burial.
I think u r right, he seemed to be Zen Buddhist.
iSad.
Cry me a river you fags. Practically rejoicing in your own stupidity. Apple was/is overpriced crap. Build a computer yourself, then go on apple and see how much this clown wants for it. Darwinism
All apple did was put together over-priced software and hardware into one package. Such a great idea, huh? Too bad there's really no need for that model unless you're some iFool who can't figure out computers. He was a great salesman who knew how to sell a product that wasn't the best or greatest--but only the sale matters.
Just look at these monkeys with their "awwwww bawwwww bawwww--RIP, etc, etc."
In fact, the guy still lucked out: he'll be leaving the world before the entire place turned into some gigantic shithole. The rest of us will have the pleasure of trying to stay afloat in a shitstorm. And LOL, a bunch of people posting on a blog, paying their respect--for what? Some guy who lived better than you or I ever could with the rest of our lives. Yeah, man. 'spect for ripping off dumbasses.
I have more respect for the Foxconn workers who offed themselves than Jobs.
go ahead and list the tons of total crap products surrounding us. Apple atleast put a standard out there which gave copy cats something to shoot for and consumers a choice. My nano still works and it has been through the wash a few times.. I was able to rebuild my iphone 3G three times after i let it get wet in the rain.. their stuff ain't crap.. go look at HP for that
Apple was a copycat.
Jobs may have been a decent guy, and it's sad to see someone go young, but all this talk about 'visionary' and 'innovator' is crap. Jobs took tech that others actually innovated and put shiny, feel-good interfaces on them (which is important, sure, but hardly visionary). Then sold the fad-addled masses the repackaged three-year-old stuff for a 40% premium on current technology. Brilliant marketer, but hardly a tech luminary.
If you hate what I'm saying, you can go get some consolation from the press releases for the hotly-anticipated new offering from Apple this fall... it's a brand new innovation called cloud computing!
And your point is? I agree about the tech, but what the hell does that have to do with anything? He built the worlds most valuable company and it was all Steve Jobs. I don't even have a Mac but I have a huge amount of respect for anyone that can accomplish what he did. He is a legend.
R.I.P. Steve
Thanks for the legacy
Wishing you the best @ 2.0 in that big CPU in the sky
I miss steve already , hung out with him a few times in woodside at a local beer joint. what a great man, death also took pete in woodside at an early age. god bless them.
Anyone else think a few short term puts on aapl might be a good bet?
No, you don't short the Weimar Republic. Trust me here.
Few businessmen deserve to be called "Visionary." Steve was one.
hopefully they outsource his funeral and kill a few more american jobs....
From my iPad......
the Apple has now fallen of the tree of knowledge. I, for one, welcome our new Google overlords. It definitely won't be the very small and flacid bill gate's owned company that will rise to replace the readily worshipped iGOD
Whole lot of people here who don't know the real history of Apple, and Jobs' part in it. People who maybe own flashy toy computing devices, think Jobs deserves any kudos for them, and don't have a clue what those 'flashy toys' *could* have been without Jobs forcing his over-controlling philosophy onto the designs.
The true genius that started Apple was Wozniac. Jobs was just the money guy. It was also Jobs who stabbed Wozniac in the back, and defrauded him of his stake in the company. It was Jobs and that shithead John Scully from Pepsi who steered Apple to the high-price, IP-rights enforcing, nearly closed-box path they took.
So, RIP Jobs. Together with Gates, you did a great job for the global Elites in crippling the potential for open computing power for the masses. Apple and Microsoft - another instance of the False Dichotomy, just like 'two party politics.' Give the people a pretend choice, then fuck them from both sides. Works every time.
If there's a Hell, Steve Jobs is probably there now.
Shhh, he was a great innovatorguruentrepeneurbuddhavisionary. Bahhh Baahh BAAAAAH!
It's all in how you interpret what recorded history there is about the man. Unless you were there every step of the way, that's all we have... interpretation and our opinions.
Steve wasn't just the money man. He might not have been such a wiz at code and hardware as Woz' but he walked the walk too when Apple was starting up. I'd say he was more of a "faceman" for Apple.
He never defrauded Woz'. Woz' became a millionaire just like Steve when the company went public. Woz' had more compassion and when Steve held back on giving others ownership at that time... Woz' gave some of his own shares to the others who had "got them there".
Scully fired Jobs... sheesh, get it straight guy. They only worked together for about a year! Sculley and Spindler proceeded to ruin the company over the next decade until the company brought Steve back.
Apple was never intended to be an open playground for hackers. It was intentionally engineered/designed to coordinate the hardware, OS and software in a more harmonious way than any other computing platform. During the time of Sculley and Spindler they almost destroyed this essence of the company. It cost Apple (headed by Steve) a tremendous amount of money to buy out all the "clones" and right the ship.
Go take some med's, your conspiracy theories are trying to re-write history.
If Jobs "stabbed Wozniak in the back", then it is up to Wozniak to be upset about it. He is not.
